8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room is big and so is the bathroom. The atmosphere of the hotel is very pleasant. The location is excellent
Cons: the mattress is hard so I couldn't sleep, however everyone in my group was ok with it because they can sleep easier than me
8.0 Excellent
Cons: Didn’t like the smoke smell in the room
7.5 Good
Pros: Good location.
Cons: Tear and wear inside the room. Bathroom is too small.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location, close to scenic areas, restaurants and North railway station.
Cons: Occasional smoke smell and only very soft pillows available.
7.0 Good
Pros: Nothing except the location.
Cons: It was a 5 star hotel when we stayed here about 10 years ago but now I can only rate it as a 4.5 star hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Mostly very good
Cons: Pillow choice only very soft, could have 50% of wach firm and soft.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful interior, impressive building, large rooms, good service
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The lobby was huge and sterile but staff was pleasant and helpful. The room was very comfortable and spacious. Beds in china are a bit too firm for me but the linens were very nice. This hotel is in a perfect location with the lake in front and he pedestrian mall behind. I would 100% stay here again if I returned to Giuliin.
Cons: TV list claimed two channels in English but there were none. I did not eat in the hotel. The restaurant I saw was huge and uninviting. I found great food off the pedestrian mall a couple of blocks from the hotel.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Right opposite sun moon tower, with central square on one side and walking street on other, the hotel is almost at perfect location.
Shangri-La Hotel, Guilin - Guilin - Building
2
9.1 Excellent (4,886 reviews)
Overview Reviews
A stay at Shangri-La Hotel, Guilin places you in the heart of Guilin, a 3-minute drive from Mulong Lake and 11 minutes from Lijiang Folk Customs Garden. Featured amenities include a business center, limo/town car service, and express check-in. Free self parking is available onsite.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice breakfast. We just stayed one night, arrived late and left early, so therefore we couldn't use all the facilities. It is a nice location with a nice view. If you want to visit the center of the city, you need a taxi. The staff was very nice and helpful, also in advance of our stay when we had a few questions regarding the organization.
Cons: We had a non smoking room, but it smelled as other guests have been smoking there before.
6.0 Good
Pros: Great location. Beautiful view from our room (river view). Clean enough.
Cons: Breakfast is okay but almost 100% only Asian food . This hotel is geared towards serving predominantly native guests. Not judging - just a fact. Very few international visitors, at least during our stay. Paid for an evening buffet in the main restaurant. Mediocre food, inedible meet. We reside in China and are familiar with and like Chinese food (hot pot) . This was one of the worst we have had since 2012. Left most of it untouched. All in all - a good Chinese hotel, but not quite what one expects from a Shangri-La. Especially the food.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Awesome hotel, spacious rooms, very polite and helpful staff. Packed our breakfast when hotel came to know that we are leaving early morning. Manager helped me to book local taxi using his app for airport. My kid enjoyed a lot in play area and game room. Fully equipped gym. Hotel has every facility.required for vacation Highly recommended to stay
Cons: Nothing I can think of
7.0 Good
Pros: Most reviewers claim that this is the best place to stay in while in Guilin, and while we haven't experienced any of the other options in town, this one mostly lives up to the expectations one would have from a ShangriLa. At least as far as the facilities are concerned.
Cons: The dining options are limited to a passable Chinese restaurant and an international one with buffet dinner and barely passable a la carte menu. Breakfast is served in the international restaurant and visitors are strongly advised to avoid rush hour - one coffee machine for up to a couple of hundred guests and a few other bottle necks meant that half an hour was not enough to finish a relatively basic breakfast.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: An event in part of the big lobby, eight performers dancing and singing in colorful ethnic minority clothing, was excellent. The buffet meals were better than those in the five-star hotels in five other cities in southern China that I have visited recently.
Cons: I reserved an "executive terrace mountain view king room", and was disappointed to find that the view from within the room was unimpressive, and that recent hotel construction had eliminated all but a fifth of the good view of the mountains from the room's patio.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great views Nice club lounge Excellent spa, gym + pool Clean, spacious room
Cons: No check in on horizon lounge Poor service in Shang palace Being requested to write reviews
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: Construction of new wing partially blocks view of the river

5.8 Okay
Cons: This is not a hotel that meets the Sheraton standard - Horrifying tour service ! How can Sheraton suggest its clients a tour agency that has a fraudulent tour guide named Chin Chin (English name Jennifer) that overcharges entrance tickets to make extra money? We only realised this, because my daughter speaks mandarin. The Sheraton suggested tour agency sold a private tour for me and my daughter at a fix rate. To avoid any mishaps, every site to visit was planned one day in advance with the English speaking guide Chin Chin (Jennifer), nothing was added during the tour. We left the Hotel late for the tour in the morning, so to compensate for the missed time we removed one of the sites to visit. Once we came back from the tour, the agency required more money because we were late, even though we were not told that the tour ended at a specific time. The guide Chin Chin (Jennifer) was offensive, shouted to us as clients, made plans to shorten the tour without our knowledge as she didn’t want to go to the sites we agreed to visit the day before, gave wrong informations to us, to the driver and to the agency manager. I reported the incidents to one of the Hotel managers who helpfully got in contact with the tour agency manager, who did not find the matter deem of a meeting or worth his attention. Well done.....I strongly suggest that Sheraton kick them out of their Hotel to save themselves a bad reputation and a lot of unhappy client.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were courteous and professional. Nothing was too much trouble. Excellent facilities and location
4.0 Okay
Cons: The hotel is too old, smelled like mold all the time.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: I had a fall at a train station just before check in and was unable to walk. The staff at the hotel were extremely helpful and even provided me with a wheelchair and a bath chair throughout my stay. They were a great help in arranging my transport to the airport too. They certainly went out of their way to ensure my comfort.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: good location
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good location with many local eating places within walking distance.
Cons: Hairdryer didn’t work well. Had to get it changed.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: River view room, large outdoor pool, close proximity to the pedestrian streets of Guilin
Cons: The hotel is quite dated and could do with a refurbishment. The Coffee shop was not open until about 9am
Alila Yangshuo - Guilin - Building
4
9.1 Excellent (1,072 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Alila Yangshuo is positioned as a luxury destination resort with cultural and contemporary elements dedicated to high-end locals and international travellers. Alila Yangshuo has an inventory of 117 keys boasting a combination of rooms villas and heritage suites. Alila Yangshuo aims to provide its guests with the highest level of service coupled with state-of-the-art facilities truly creating a product that no others can compete with.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is a stunning property, the fusion of old sugar factory with the modern intervention is very respectful and appropiate, it enhances the space even more
Cons: We would have loved lo have a very early swimm, but due to the timetable this was not possible
7.0 Good
Pros: Beautiful design of the property and rooms. Extra perk for resident rabbits, animals and ducks. Service was excellent. Volcanic soap was the best I’ve ever used.
Cons: The only thing that disappointed was the noise coming from the road and the construction. Alila Yangshuo would have been the perfect experience otherwise.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The entire hotel was beautifully designed and very comfortable while also allowing you to enjoy the surrounding nature. I took advantage of morning free yoga class and included breakfast, both of which were excellent. Such a treat to stay in a converted sugar factory as the history of the original buildings is wonderfully preserved while being quite modern. Staff was lovely.
2.9 Mediocre
Pros: Design and architecture.
Cons: I came here with much expectations, but this hotel is in many ways a disappointment: Location - Mediocere at best, the hotel site is small and located right along a major highway, with lots of lorries and truck running by. You can hear them clearly in your room. The scenery is only good at the pool area, but there are hotels with much better scenery at Yangshou, esp those at top of the mountains Room: the rooms are tiny. I think the developer/ manager would like to maximise the number of rooms for profitability, but sorry this room size is only suitable for business / comfort hotel. I would expect a room double of this size for a resort hotel, esp given land is so cheap at a tier-3 city in china. There are few annex buildings used as boutique shops/ bar/ exhibition room etc, which is pretty useless. They should have use those area for larger rooms instead. Mosquitos: there are a lot of mosquitoes at night if you open leave the balcony window just for a while. Surprise that they don’t install a net to block them off, and clearly they haven’t sprayed enough insecticides. Ambiance - due to the large number of rooms, the small common area (esp. the pool area, the restaurant during breakfast time )get really busy, and it feels like a crowded tourist attraction instead of a place for relaxing. You can”t even relax by the pool with so many people walking By and taking photos. Staff: the deputy manager Sara Wei is rude, arrogant and unfriendly. Instead of offering thoughtful and comforting solutions to a guest, She goes all the way to argue and debate with me over my complaints. The GM Will Chen never shows up either, think he is probably NOT on duty on the weekends - Well done - now they got an unhappy guest ready to tell my friends about my bad experience. The restaurant / bar staff don’t seems to have received proper training either - seems like part time recruits try to avoid work.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was such a wonder stay in Alila. History and design: My friends have stayed there before, it has suprised them a lot, I couldn't imagine. As I arrived there, the stuff Xiaoyun has given us a short tour of and told us the history of the hotel. We all very suprised how the designer Dong Gong combine the old buildings and modern design together and many details. Bar and food: Cocktails and the dinner are my favorite, defintely don't miss it. It provides some menus of local food but need to order one day in advance. Breakfast was so so.
Cons: Not yet...
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Bed was very comfortable, hotel staff were all very polite and helpful. Ordered room service and requested for Tabasco sauce along with my pizza. Staff went all the way out to find Tabasco sauce.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything is perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Impressive architecture located in beautiful scenery location. Villa was super comfortable and luxurious. Super comfortable beds. Turn down service would light aromatherapy oil every evening. Perfect place for peaceful getaway. Super helpful and caring staff. Daily taichi class and rock climbing (plus many more in house activities). Well organised private tours.
Cons: Lack of soundproofing for basic rooms

10.0 Excellent
Cons: Lovely hotel, excellent location, great staff and superb food!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Nothing
7.0 Good
Pros: Hotel itself was very nice. Location, variety of breakfast was excellent. There were lot of Asian and western products. Elephant trunk hill view from the restaurants balcony. But 10 points and smiley face goes to staff at reception. They were amazing. Without them the whole stay would been big mistake. Reception was the place who fix problems etc.
Cons: Elevator works without room key card. First day we were out of the room like 5h. Some one slipped escort service business card under the door. We asked that from receptionist that was it "complimentary offer" for western tourists or did all rooms in that floor get that "offer" as well. They say NO. So pimps and hoes can walk at the hallway free and randomly. Security must check their procedures. Because the restaurant staff don't speak English at all or very little. You have to know your benefits/rights and stay strong. Otherwise they will charge what ever they want. They event don't know hotels discounts to the guests. Even there's a huge promotions at elevators wall. Big thanks to the receptionist to help us. Also 3th floors corridor had a huge moldy smell. Thankfully it's OK to smoke at hallway so usually cigarettes smoke went over that. And the grossest thing what I witnessed was that chef sneezed booger of his nose to the floor in the middle of the breakfast!!
7.0 Good
Pros: Its an outdated hotel in the city center of Guilin. The room is spacious, the extra size double bed clean and cosy, The rainshower was quite good but needs more cleaning. The views from the sixth floor towards the elephant hill were spectacular. Just 5 minutes walking distance to the temple and a restaurant area.
Cons: The furniture has got a lot of scratches. The air condition is very noisy and spreads a decayed smell. So therefore the room needs to be refurbished . The breakfast is mainly focused on chinese taste.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed our stay! It was a clean, quiet and comfortable hotel. The bed was soft and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and included nice shampoo, conditioner and hand lotion, etc. We booked three rooms in the hotel. My father and my sister's rooms were not as nice as ours at first. When I asked if they could have better rooms. They did. The hotel has a great breakfast choice with an amazing view to see the elephant's mountain and Lee river. The staffs (James) were super nice and helpful. We booked the Lee river tour tickets with Coco in the hotel lobby travel agency. She was very helpful. We would love to stay longer if it is possible.
Cons: A few clear direction labels would be helpful to avoid confusion. Such as for a breakfast place or exercise area.
6.0 Good
Pros: View from 7th floor good. WiFi OK as could stream sports
Cons: Jolie Vue hotel does not have a view due to the trees! Could not open windows so had to use AC even tho temp outside was 15c.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: A convenient hotel, very clean and with huge rooms.
Cons: Not a scenic area. On a big road, next to a mall. Breakfast was okay but less 'international' than the overall feel of the hotel might lead you to expect. The music playing in a dinning room was western pop though, strangely at odd with the food served and the mostly Chinese dinning guests.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We appreciate all our stay at the hotel and the wedding anniversary cake that the hotel sent to us. We are very happy to stay at the hotel.
8.0 Excellent
Cons: bad wifi signal
8.8 Excellent
Pros: overall the hotel Is very good with all the needed facilities. the superior room with design furniture Is amazing
Cons: the lady at the travel corner doesn't speak english. this Is not acceptable if your task Is relating with tourists. laundry service a bit too expensive. Some areas of the pool were broken or not accessible (terrace). It could have been cleaner.

Cons: Spider came out from the bed cover.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very much helpful
Cons: There is no lift in the building + the light in room was very poor.
4.6 Okay
Pros: The staff member was helpful
Cons: The smell of cigarette smoke in the room mixed with the smell of vomit. The electric lighting in the room was unfinished no light in the bathroom and bare wires hanging in the room. The toilet had no water in it to flush but we managed by filling up the cistern with the shower hose. There was paint on the headboard and skirting boards. I really do not have the words to describe it in all it’s glory!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: It's quite cheap and comfortable. Has places to eat nearby and most of the bus stops are close by and only 5-6 stops from the main sights
Cons: A bit far from the main sights but it's cheaper because of that and only a bus ride away
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and close to traon and bus stations
Cons: They don't speak English, but easily managed with digital translators, as in the rest of China
7.1 Good
Pros: Simple but clean room. Suitable for short stay.

Cons: Some rooms are old; some rooms with no cupboard, but there are hangers. Rooms are dark (lighting is bad). Some staff are nice and helpful. Some staff are the total opposite! Take note if you book a "Japanese room".. the toilet is right at the door step, and it is open...no doors. This was not mentioned in the description of the room when booking.

Overview Reviews
Located in Guilin (Guilin City Centre), Guilin This Old Place Intl Youth Hostel is within a 10-minute drive of Seven-Star Park and Elephant Trunk Hill. Featured amenities include luggage storage and coffee/tea in a common area.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The little terrace gave the place a nice cozy touch!
7.0 Good
Pros: Location location and location! The staffs are friendly and helpful. Helped us to carry large luggage to the 3rd floor. THe bed has heated mattress for winter.
Cons: We came in winter. The heater didn't seem to be strong enough to beat the coldness especially then the floor is tile.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: It was easy to find and the location is excellent, next to the little lake and not far away from the sun and moon temple. The staff is very helpful. The hostel offers a variety of tours. It has been a very nice place to explore the city and the surrounding area.
Cons: We have been there in winter (January) and all hallways were rather cold. This, unfortunately, included the very cozy public space. The floor in the room was also very, very cold. Although the hostel provides slippers, it is not very convenient. We took the breakfast from the hostel and it supposed to include fresh fruit. Although it was rather cheap in general, it seemed like the counted the small pieces of apples, which is a usually not very expensive fruit. We didn't try the other options, and they provide al lot of them. Although they sent you suggestions for tours rapidly after your reservation - which is very helpful - it was rather difficult to actually get in contact with them by either wechat or phone
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Close to the city, lake train and bus stop the beautiful view from the roof top, clean room bath room but a bit small and no hanger in the toilet and bathroom
Cons: not much everything good recommends staying in Guilin.
10.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place was very well located. the rooms were spacious , clean and airy. The common room at the reception hall was also good and very well heated. The young girl ( Grace ) at the reception was very helpful, especially as she suggested to visit some old village(giving the necessary names in English and Chinese and the bus numbers) as all the tourist places were closed due to the coronavirus
Cons: everything was fine.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very helpful especially in quickly bringing me to their lobby via the shuttle car. The design of the hotel area is really suitable for making anyone feel they are in the midst of a Chinese traditional village. The hotel is in the midst of a large garden park as well. The Tea House is a enjoyable room for friends, couples and others to experience a relaxing and enjoyable tea time. The location is suitable as well. There is a Mall within minutes of walking distance and the various attractions of Guilin are easily traveled to --- especially the awesome Reed Flute Cave!

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very quiet location, in middle of park
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The traditional architecture and gardening of this hotel are outstanding! We felt immersed in traditional Chinese culture. Easy taxi to the river district. Being in the middle of large botanical gardens made it even better, observing locals engaged in Tai chi and yoga in groups, each time we shuttled through the park. The buffet breakfast is superb with unlimited coffee
Cons: The dinner menu was impossible for an English speaker to figure out
5.8 Okay
Pros: Quiet location Big room Nice shower
Cons: Lack of info from staff Wifi NOT working... at all Bad coffee and breakfast
Elephant Trunk Hill Hotel - Guilin - Building

9.2 Excellent (47 reviews)
Overview Reviews
A stay at Guilin Elephant Trunk Hill Hotel places you in the heart of Guilin, within a 15-minute walk of Riyue Shuangta Cultural Park and Elephant Trunk Hill. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage.
7.9 Good
Pros: The staff, particularly the lady that organised the tours, was extremely helpful. She booked our tours, even drove us (for free) to the tour start point. They were very helpful, not a lot of English speaking (understandable) but nothing a translator app can’t handle!
Cons: The location is right in Guilin city, which is good if that’s what you want. From the pictures I thought it would be far more scenic than it was. Elephant Trunk Hill Park is a touristy Park you have to pay to get into, it isn’t what I expected. But that isn’t the hotels fault - more my lack of research!
9.6 Excellent
Cons: Staff a little careless recommended us to take a taxi at 9am for our 1pm train because of heavy traffic. We arrived at the station at 9:30am and wasted a whole morning. We could have visited some place before we went to the train station.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I was upgraded for free on arrival, so cannot comment on the room that I would have been given. Excellent location close to Guilin's attractions; easy to find at night. Spacious room. Separate shower & toilet. Multi-combination shower. Great toiletries. Comfy bed. Table and comfy chair. Aircon & WiFi available. Coffee maker as well as kettle; tea and coffee available. Free water and soft drinks in fridge. Free water available in the hotel. Free tea daily (many selections) in lovely decor "book room", with free tea cakes !!! Excellent breakfast buffet. Good English by reception staff. Although this was the most expensive hotel I stayed at during my 2-week holiday, at the price it was definitely worth the money; highly recommend to anyone.
Cons: I really can't think of anything I didn't like in this hotel.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and proactive service. Washing clothes service by hotel was highly affordable at 38 RMB per machine wash and included drying. Had 3 jeans washed.
Cons: Next to a hospital.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good family room
Cons: Staff is not very professional

Pros: This place just as comfort as your home. Once we arrived at the property, the front desk ladies were so kind welcoming us with a glass of tea (you can add more if you want). All of them speak English very well. The interior of the hotel is dominated by wood material which designed to provide you with a relaxing feeling. I was amazed when entering the room it was so clean and the interior stuffs are very artistic and looks new. All equipments are working well including those in the bathroom. For me this is beyond my expectation since the price was really affordable. Will recommend everyone to stay here once visiting Guilin. Thanks Zen Tea House Seven Stars Park!

Pros: I booked two rooms at this property for myself and my colleague. The front desk ladies were amazing as their warm welcome have made a positive mood after our long flight from Jakarta. Their English was excellent so you may ask anything you need to know about Guilin without doubt. The lobby interior was relaxing while the room was very clean and neat. We really got beyond the price we’ve paid. Since we are in a group of four, the owner borrow us a portable modem so we can connect with internet outside the property. We stayed there for six nights and we got once complimentary simple and delicious dinner plus a bag of gift at our last night. Definitely recommend this place and will stay here again when touchdown Guilin.
Cons: None.

Pros: The Hotel it’s decorated with a beautiful personal Touch and extraordinary furniture. Room was big and cosy at the same time, really really nice. Bed super comfortable! The staff was totally helpful, nice English spoken. Finally the location, it is perfect. Quiet enough for the city centre, but walking distance from almost anything you feel like visiting. The Hotel is by one of the central lakes, so the views from the room and the 5th floor restaurant are amazing. We were glad to be there!

Pros: We loved everything about our stay. It was a perfect combination of traditional touches with modern conveniences. Upon arrival we were greeted with a lovely tea and information about the area. Every detail was considered and every requests was met with gracious assistance. We. Will. Definitely. Return. To. This. Wonderful. Hotel.
Cons: There weren't many English speakers in the restaurant and so breakfast was challenging. They offered eggs and omelets, but our requests and orders got lost in translation.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is really beautiful. It is full of beautiful objects and treasures. Our room was large and airy with a beautiful bathroom, tastefully decorated. Once the a.c./heater had been on for awhile it was a comfortable temperature and the bed was really comfortable, always cosy and warm under the surprisingly light duvet - so good I’d buy one for home. It was also really well situated for walking around the park and up and down along the river. The staff could not have been more helpful and we definitely want to return.
Cons: There was nothing we didn’t like about this property.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect, I can recomend this hotel.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: + Garden view from the room + Great bedding + Free shuttle bus to the entrance park
Cons: - No tasting breakfast - No free pick-up from our bus station at 20min from the hotel, but free airport or railway station pick up which are 30min to 1h far from the hotel, ridiculous.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is placed in a large park facing the Li River and surrounded by trees. The hotel staff kindly carries the guests by an electric vehicle between the entrance of the park and the hotel. The hotel kindly prepared a taxi that carried me from the Guilin Airport to the hotel without extra charge. The food supplied in the hotel restraint was generally good, and the taste was suitable (easy to eat) for foreigners. The room cleaning was excellent. The staff kindly prepared the Li River cruising for me even though I asked on the preceding day. I could stay in the hotel as comfortably as if I were at home.
Cons: I stayed in Guilin in July. It was very hot.
7.5 Good
Pros: Quiet location in beautiful location.
Cons: Not enough staff that could speak English. Rooms need renovating and modernizing, install a safe.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful place. Excellent and helpful staff. We loved the dinner - the food was excellent.
Cons: The breakfast was not geared up to foreigners and we struggled to find something to eat.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful setting. Wish we could have stayed longer.
Cons: It is secluded and needed to have golf cart take you outside the property, which we knew prior to our stay.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is within a very popular park in Guilin City Centre. The style of the hotel is traditional Chinese structure, and it is beautifully decorated. The room is very modern and clearn, with all the necessary facilities. The staff are very friendly. Only less than 100 metres, you can see the famous Elephant Trunk Hill and the Lijiang River. The price is very reasonable for a 5 start hotel. Will definitely stay here again in the future,
Cons: Since the hotel is located within a polupar park, there are always many tourists during the day. However, if you are staying within the hotel, you can't hear any noise. You will only see the tourists when you step out of the hotel. The choice of breakfast could improve a bit also.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Super comfy bed. Separate bathtub in the room. Friendly staff even if they do not speak English.
Cons: Not all staff members speak English. There is a travel advisory available. However, the lady behind the counter did not speak a word if English. Which made the arranging of activities harder and even prompted us to seek help elsewhere.
