9.0 Excellent
Pros: everything was as I hoped, or better
Cons: the room felt a bit too hot (I know, first world problems!) and it was a shame that our room didn't have a good view, otherwise, it was a perfect stay
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Received a warm welcome on arrival and once unpacked met with friends in the bar which had a great atmosphere. The staff were pleasant and very accommodating. Our room was excellent and the next morning we enjoyed a delicious and nutritious breakfast that we couldn't fault, there was so much on offer from the healthy option to a guilty full English. Fantastic breakfast menu. Liked the set up to the breakfast room private and relaxed offering both self service for your continental fruit cereal options and table service for any cooked options coffee and teas. The breakfast staff were very helpful it was a lovely experience to the end of our stay. I would highly recommend your hotel. Thank you.
Cons: We were a little disappointed that our friends who reside in Halifax and had recommended your hotel for our visit were politely asked to vacate the hotel as they were non resident. We had turned in early to the hotel to enjoy a last round of drinks not a lock in so that was my only one gripe.

Cons: It was a windy night outside and the windows rattle as they are old.

Cons: nothing

Cons: The rain.

Pros: It was welcoming and friendly. The decor was fresh and tasteful. The food was lovely at both dinner and breakfast (breakfast with a lovely view). The staff couldn’t be more helpful or friendly even when I ordered a “special request” meal. Travelled with work and felt at home.
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Great rural location, lively bar & busy restaurant (Stayed Friday evening).. Great room full of Character with everything you need for an overnight stay. Great Staff, very efficient & professional and at the same time having a very relaxed manner.
Cons: There was absolutely nothing to dislike.. I would have liked a few biscuits in the room to go with the coffee and I could hear the music from the bar in my room but it wasn’t an issue and in fact it added to the whole Character of the place.

Pros: This is a brilliant period property with amazing original features and antiques. The staff were attentive and friendly, including Eric the lovely hotel cat. This hotel is wonderfully situated for Halifax and Shibden Hall. Breakfast is fantastic, especially the home made black pudding. The bar is well stocked and cosy.

7.5 Good
Cons: Old good but difficult to find.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The welcome and attention it was my second visit and the hotel did not disappoint the bed room number 9 did
Cons: The room number 9 is a disabled room however the emergency light over the door was so bright ( green light ) with the bleed of light from the entrance lights and the bathroom window left you believing you we at Blackpool illuminations to day the nights sleep was interrupted is an understatement!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was simply a wonderful place. We had a great time. Evening meal was simply stunning and breakfast was fantastic. Our room was wonderful. We will be staying here again.
Overview Reviews
With a stay at 1885 the Restaurant Pub and Rooms in Halifax, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Eureka The National Children’s Museum and Shay Stadium. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room and bed was very comfortable. Staff very helpful and friendly. Food priced very well and portions were excellent for the money
Cons: Everything was very good
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly reception and good value for money. Comfortable and clean.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Not a lot, complete waste of money.
Cons: To start with the bar which states 'open til.late' closed about 9.30! The sheets had makeup on them and I found a grey sock in the bed, which wasn't mine! The bathroom paint had been touched up with the wrong colour. The unappetising breakfast had milk swilling around in the bottom of the bag & 2 squashed muffins had seen better days. The room was about 42 degrees, nearly died of heat exhaustion. The wifi was unsecured and could see everyone elses devices connected!! Oh and couldn't find any staff around to complain to...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lots of character
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice room that was spotlessly clean. Breakfast hamper was excellent.
Cons: Not excellent soundproofing from the pub below. Need a little shelf in the shower cubicle!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed was very comfy, lovely warm room and nice bathroom. We put a note on the booking that we were both vegan and they gave us a whole breakfast hamper of vegan goodies. Breakfast was included in the price so we expected a little something but they went above and beyond! Also we loved the huge window, the room was very light and airy but cosy at the same time. We didn’t dine in the restaurant but they made us feel very welcome even so.
Cons: The shower leaked a bit the first time I used it, but was fine after that. Also the shower head was a bit unstable but still useable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed here as we were at a wedding at The Venue so the location was ideal for us. The staff were so helpful and friendly! We stayed in the small double, it was comfy and had everything we needed. They left the breakfast in a basket outside the door in the morning which I thought was nice. Overall lovely stay :)

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff, room, location and food
6.0 Good
Pros: Room was lovely and comfortable. The views are amazing and it was in a quiet area. Couldn't hear any of the other guests in the hotel so had a great nights sleep. Bar staff were lovely.
Cons: Breakfast was disappointing and a bit of a shambles. It wasn't clear whether to sit down or be seated at a specific table, the hot food was a buffet style but there were people stood waiting around for it to be cooked. It took a while to get anything and nothing came out together so i had to make multiple trips back to the counter to get each item.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything else but the room was fabulous ! The staff were exceptionally freindly, made us feel very welcome and really interacted with us during our stay
Cons: We stayed for 2 nights in total, adding 1 night to our original 1 night booking! Our room (no.4) was much smaller than expected and was quite tired! The bed had no lats at the top so fell through it when I sat up
The Fleece Inn - Halifax - Building

8.8 Excellent (610 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at The Fleece Inn in Halifax, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Eureka The National Children’s Museum and Shay Stadium. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
5.0 Okay
Pros: We did have food on the evening, (not part of our bed & breakfast reservation) which was really great, hats off to the chef. The cooked breakfast the next morning was also very good.
Cons: On booking.com we reserved a room with a"view," the view was of a road, a noisy road at that. We reserved a "deluxe" double room, deluxe in our opinion for the fleece= lots of pillows and cushions on the bed. The pictures show rolling hills, which we expected to be our "view" but the fleece is on a very busy road, traffic slowed down around 11.00pm and started up by 6.00am so it was very noisy. It was only in the morning that we discovered that other rooms, not next to the road, were free so the only reason we can think that they didn't give us one of those is because they don't want repeat custom. That sort of summed up how much the staff seem to care.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the room, probably the best I have stayed in . Young staff were very sweet and helpful nothing was too much trouble.
Cons: The Bar area seems to jar with the age of the pub , I thought padded bars went out in the 70s also high stools and tables seems out of place. The craft beers on offer tasted not quite right , think the lines want a good flush through, after trying two I went onto San Mig .
7.0 Good
Pros: Location & facilities were great & the pub is a great place to relax. The bedrooms are beautiful, with a large comfortable bed.
Cons: Curtains in the bedroom allowed to much light into the room. The large external lights were especially bright & did disturb what should have been a relaxing break.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location and wonderful friendly staff. Great value for the night. Would go back.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean , breakfast was lovely and very friendly staff.
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked the old buildings and atmosphere. We were celebrating a birthday, so dined and stayed overnight at The Black Horse Inn. All the evening meals were excellent. All the breakfasts were superb. The beds were comfy and we thoroughly enjoyed our family party. We could not have wished for a better venue. I do not know why we have not visited The Black Horse previously but I am already trying to think of an excuse to do it all again.
Cons: I enjoyed the whole time and there was nothing that I disliked about the venue.

Pros: Good breakfast, eggs cooked to order, good range of self service cooked items and breads.
Cons: Breakfast could be improved by serving coffee in individual cafetier or freshly made pots of tea. The self service coffee let the breakfast down.

Cons: My only complaint was the breakfast started at 8 and I would have prefered an earlier start

7.9 Good
Pros: Easy to find, lovely building. The staff on reception are very good and happy to help - even lent me a charger for my phone after leaving mine at home.
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: An old building which has bags of character, uneven floors, twisty corridors etc but beautifully clean and excellent value for money. In a lively area of town but real well insulated so sound is not a problem. Good wifi and a well equipped bathroom and tea tray. Loved the biscuits! Breakfast was great quality and first class service. We will definitely return. Thank you.
Cons: Bed a little soft for my liking but loads of pillows and rooms a good temperature
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast Staff friendly, helpful and exceptionally polite
7.0 Good
Pros: I like the lady who helped me check out at the reception. She was not just incredibly beautiful but she was so polite and lovely. I also admired the the patience of a senior lady who was helping me with my Breakfast order. She was being give a hard time by a hotel guest who was having breakfast and was not happy with something she joked about and the poor soul was so embarrassed by all that was happening. I felt bad for her and gave her a wide smile hoping it would make her feel less awkward.
Cons: Lack of an ironing and iron board in the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A very comfortable hotel.
Cons: Nothing. Some might moan about the shower pressure. But get a life.

7.0 Good
Pros: Staff are great. Very helpful and friendly. Room was well heated.
Cons: Needs a little love. Windows could not be locked open, risky with a flat roof outside.
4.0 Okay
Cons: Room very dusty with cobwebs on the light. Carpet and walls stained
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful and friendly staff, excellent location over the road to the station, car park only 2 min walk from hotel over the road. My room was on the first floor so not having a lift didn't make any difference to me, I did see staff carrying luggage for someone who was on the third floor. My bed was really comfy, best night sleep I have had in any hotel. Great breakfast. I will definitely use this hotel again if I am in that area.
7.0 Good
Pros: Everything except what I've mentioned.
Cons: No hand rails in the shower to help steady your balance, TV didn't have many channels so couldn't watch my normal programs.
7.0 Good
Pros: Very generous with the heating and hot water. Excellent value. Very good omelette for breakfast. Location excellent. For what you pay it is exceptional value. However don't expect the Ritz. For what I paid it did exceed my expectations. The basics are there. Heating, hot water, tea making facilities, decent bed and shower or bath plus 24 hr reception.
Cons: The walls and paintwork around doors need a good clean. There was something unpleasant on the wall next to bed near headboard.

Pros: Comfortable, warm and clean
Cons: Poor food choice on motorway services - nothing remotely healthy available. Not even a piece of fruit!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good place to stay for the night if you need somewhere convenient on the M62. Rooms were spacious and comfy, and the staff were really friendly. Tea, coffee and biscuits were provided for us in our room.
Cons: It's not a problem with the hotel but worth noting that the services that it's attached to don't have a very good offering in terms of food, so you don't really have much choice for dinner, and because you're just on the motorway there aren't really any other options.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed was so comfy and clean.
Cons: The smell of the building and rooms need improvement by using Air Fresheners everywhere to make it smell marvellous. It’s got an old smell
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Omg I’m so overwhelmed with this hotel ...my room was large immaculate plenty of amenities warm & clean & the price for this executive room was an absolute steel ...I’ll definitely be staying here again lovely warm welcome on arrival and all the surrounding areas had everything you could possibly need while your there too love it definitely recommend to all my friends
Cons: There was nothing I could find fault with this hotel

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable and good breakfast choices
Cons: No anything to do with the property but inconsiderate guests that park like idiots Causing other guests to park in the paying car park opposite Perhaps if there were lines painted to make bays it would help
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very informative. The breakfast was excellent. Overall great value for money.
Cons: Moved rooms as the electric heater in the original room did't work. There is also a radiator in the rooms but the boiler is only on at certain times. Would have preferred to be able to control the heating in my room. The staff were good though and offered me another room. I also needed to iron a work shirt for the next day, again the staff were accommodating and lent me an iron, however the iron left my shirt with black marks on it as it was dirty and had scorch marks on it.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were excellent we travelled with a small baby and they really couldn't do enough to help 10 out of 10 Location was good with free parking
Cons: Bed was hard and uncomfortable and the bathroom could have done with a shower ( excellent bath )
6.3 Good
Pros: The staff were very helpful and made us very welcome. The food was good so no complaints there.
Cons: Our room was very poor . Not very clean. It was also cold. We avoided using the shower as the bathroom was exceptionally cold. Very disappointed with the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous room,
Cons: Supper friendly staff
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good location with parking. Breakfast included, Buffett and good quality. Will definitely stay again and recommend.
7.0 Good
Pros: Location, breakfast and comfortable bed
Cons: Not getting what was requested on menu but money taken for first order!!! Plates were very cold and meat warm not Hot. Only one staff member on to cater for reception, bar, food orders and service. Free water bottle couldn't be open
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are a very good size and excellent value for money- £40 for a suite including wifi and breakfast. Wouldn't get a suite again though because it meant the tv wasn't in the bedroom and we like to watch TV in bed before we go to sleep. The welcome drink was a nice touch and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Cons: The breakfast wasn't great, it was full English but pre cooked and out on hot plates etc- none of it was very nice as I think they used very cheap low quality ingredients. Still couldn't complain for the price we paid for the room though.

Cons: There was nothing to fault at this excellent hotel.

7.5 Good
Cons: Old good but difficult to find.
