Fits it's purpose.
Close to the trains. Clean. Excellent staff.
Rooms are tiny. Bathroom is like a cruise ship's.
Maybe you should have a floor dedicated to people
The double tree is a nice hotel at first glance. I found the staff at the front desk were not the most welcoming but that wasn't the biggest problem. The room was comfortable for the most part and me and my companion were looking foward to a nice stay.
The shower had two choices, freeze or burn. It was nearly impossible to get the shower at a normal temperature which was a huge issue. But we were only there for 2 nights so decided it would be better to give it another try than moving rooms. On our second night which was a Saturday we were awoken at 4 am by a group of drunk girls that were screaming down the hallway. I felt like I was transported to the worst spring break all inclusive. I called the reception 3 times and in all fairness they came up every time to get those stupid girls to shut up. Then their guy friends came from the party minutes later and started retaliating to help their skanky girlfriends. They were standing outside of our door yelling obscenities. I called again and eventually the noise stopped but at that point I had one more hour before having to get on a train to the airport so my entire night was ruined. While they were definitely responsive to the times I called they should have kicked these people out. What kind of reputation do you want to have? I know that on my next visit to Manchester staying at the double tree and staying at the hatters is pretty much the same. If you want to maintain an upscale reputation then be more selective about who you let stay in you hotel or at the very least have your front staff make the rules clear when these drunken idiots tumble in through the door of your hotel.
Friendly reception staff and great location.
Food and service in the Dining Room (called City Cafe) is very poor and quite expensive. I booked a late check out for 5 pm and paid £30 for it, from 12 noon housekeeping tried to get into the room 5 times and eventually got security to come up to us. Very stressful and disappointing, it was so much hassle that I left the room early and forgot some of my stuff. I go to Manchester several times a year I will not be booking into this hotel again ( I stayed in this City Inn three times since Mar 2010 the last time in November 2010).
it was close to all amenities in manchester
Very good breakfast if a little expensive
Persistance of housekeeping and poor grasp of the english language of same. They kept knocking to service the room when I had said it was fine.
Close to train station shops bars staff very good.Bar area very pleansent and I would say not over priced
Stayed for 3 nights but on the Sunday morning room did not get made up but saying this soon as it was pointed out room service was called and room made up
The check-in staff are always friending and the breakfast is quick.
The carpets in the room are progressivly getting dirtier with stains, not good! Please have them cleaned, makes me question how clean everything else is.
Good location, quiet, internet access, rooms had windows (a lot of neighbouring hotels don't!!!!). Staff were efficient and friendly. Room was clean. Nice soaps, etc. Recycled loo paper (I think). Would certainly stay here again- much better than the 2 hotels nearby that I have used before.
No bottle-opener in the room, but bottles in the mini-bar mostly had caps! So you lost a sale there. A few signs at street level would have made it easier to find on foot in the dark- I walked round 2 sides of the building before identifying the entrance.
closeness to station and city centre, standard of room generally
had to ask for more loo roll and no ashtray even though it was a smoking room
helpful, friendly staff, lovely rooms, attention to detail in providing extras such as real hairdryer (not the wall type), ironing board/iron in room, iMac integrated entertainment system/pc
Bright, spacious; close to train station and city centre.
Apple iMac in room. Free WiFi connection. Booking staff flexible. Breakfast good quality but (see below).
Bright modern city centre hotel. Rather characterless. Paying extra for breakfast and even more if you require anything cooked then portions very small. Asked for mushrooms and received a single mushroom.
