Supplier choice

KAYAK
The supplier choice is apparently an EV even though I didn’t select the EV option. They require you to bring the car back charged. For a one day rental to the airport, that is not realistic. I was also charged for gas, which I had stopped near the airport and filled up. I eventually got a credit but the whole thing was a hassle and didn’t leave me feeling good about renting from Budget in the future.

They did not have the car size I reserved but did give me a nice upgrade. The car was filthy and the gas tank was not filled. So I probably spent more on gas with the bigger vehicle due to a lower mileage rating but have to admit it was comfortable. Return was awful, they advertised online on their website that the office was open at 11:00 but the store the office was in did not open until 12:00 so I was stuck waiting an hour for the store to open to get access to the rental counter. When the attendant was questioned about that he said “well, I was here, take it up with the store”. And no, don’t ask, the drop box was inside the store too so that was not an option. If you were to ask if I would rent from Budget again, possibly, but not from this location.

everything was great, except for pick up. the service desk informed me that because my reservation was made for 2pm pick up time and I arrived at 110pm, the car was in the back of the lot and was not ready. I felt lucky to get the car at 139pm but it came only after being persistent. I felt like they were doing me a favor rather than providing great customer service. and the car had not been washed in days

Pros:

The car was not ready in Melbourne. I called an hour before I arrived to make sure the car was ready, so our friends did not have to wait for us. Once we got to the car lot we wait an hour for the car to be cleaned. We were on VACATION not watching a car get cleaned lesson.

They were short on cars, but found one. Was happy to that point. But wouldn't accept our insurance. The online price ($11 a day, I think) would have been ok, but the only way I would have been allowed to rent at the desk was to purchase a $39 a day package. About 70% more than the base price for the car. Opted not to rent. Suggestion: If the customer does not opt for insurance online, allow them to enter their insurance company right then to see if it's approved. Sorry we couldn't do business.

Pros:

The check-in was smooth and quick. Had no hassles about supplemental insurance. Be sure to use your credit card for the rental. Mine has secondary car rental insurance. Mostly pleased with the Nissan Altima. Had two small dents that were noted but there were other scratches and one dent that was not highlighted. We took pictures of the scratches and the dent. Drop-off was quick and easy.

Cons:

No obvious complaints. Price was more than I wanted to pay but competitive with other rental companies. Had a few extra expenses that blindsided me but cannot do anything about that. Final price was higher than expected by about fifty dollars.

The staff was friendly and worked with what they had, as it was not their fault personally.

Cons:

No one answers the phone - I tried calling multiple times for it to go to a voicemail. When I arrived initially to pick up my rental car I was informed there was only one vehicle available and it was a massive SUV (I called the day before the rental to confirm a smaller vehicle would be available and was told yes and I was all good to go). The woman then informed me there was multiple additional charges being added to the rental agreement. I also had an issue with the vehicle during my rental period and could not get a hold of anyone at the rental company, so I went to the location and saw the employees are just sitting there IGNORING the phone ringing on purpose.

It took over an hour to get to the desk. There were two people working on a Friday at noon. When I finally did get to the counter the car I reserved was not there as budget had no more cars available at the location. So the car that I reserved the night before wasn’t there. When asked why get a reservation if it doesn’t grantee a car I got an attitude and no answer. After trying to find another rental car with a different company I was forced to take a 80 dollar uber ride to my destination. While waiting on my uber ride there was the budget associate smoking a cigarette while the line was still ridiculously long. Always used Budget in the past and it was my go too for rentals. Unfortunately after this experience and extreme disappointment in the reservation not holding my car I will not rent from budget again.

They canceled 20 minutres after I went online and made the appointment.Then I tried to contact your company Kayak and did not refund the insurance. I also had to pay for a Uber cancellation. Very bad experience I personally will never utilize your company/app. ever again and I will warn other truck drivers and veterans about bad service who neglect their customers.

Cons:

I tried calling multiple locations to exchange my rental for another one because I had a nail in the tire and other problems and no one answered nor anyone called me back, 1 location was the wrong number, please have your locations update their locations and phone numbers. Picking up my rental was not clean and smelled like smoke and dog.
