9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Comfy beds. Sunny quiet balcony. Abundance of complimentary toiletries. Amazing value for money. Great selection of food on H/B,which we didn't expect given the incredibly reasonable price we payed. Also amazing was the no quibble refund we received when we had to cut short our stay.
Cons: The choice of food was really good but sadly was only luke warm so we felt we were airing on the side of caution when selecting. Easy problem to rectify. Otherwise we would happily pay more for this hotel if deco/furnishings updated and food hot!!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, great breakfast and peaceful
Cons: no tea and coffee making facility in room
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were excellent and spoke English. The room was large with a very comfortable bed and had a balcony with Sea view from the 2nd floor. Large bathroom with bath and shower. Restuarant food was good quality and varied daily and a surprise as we were there for 28 days for some winter sun.
Cons: You can't do anything about the underground car park and tight curving access road but I had a brand new hire car which wasn't large and the concrete pillars in the car park were seemingly randomly placed making parking a very slow and carefull job. Also the initial price shown of 10 euros a day was exhorbitant but the very nice male receptionist spoke to the Manager and got me a half price deal as we there for an unusually long time for them. Parking on the street was hardly an option even as when we where there most on street spaces were taken.
6.0 Good
Pros: Staff are lovley Claudia from reception was so friendly and attentive
Cons: Dated rooms no tissue in the room Food choice was poor and cold
7.9 Good
Pros: Good location in Mijas with proximity to town centre with excellent Picasso and Dali small art gallery . Amongst all the many tourist shops there are a few good small Spanish restaurants and better quality local art shops Breakfast excellent and facilities out of season good. Staff all very friendly and attentive
Cons: Very much set up for package holidays with waning notices about extra charges for garage, room safe, late check out even taking food out of the restaurant. Like being at a holiday camp No a la carte restaurant in the evening although buffet/ canteen dinner more than adequate Would rather have paid a little more for basics . Even plastic cups in the bedroom no glasses. No offer to take care to our bedroom Suspect in the summer the hotel would be very crowded
9.6 Excellent
Cons: The evening meals
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location outside bus stop and close to the main area and views. View from hotel amazing, value unbelievable, couldn't stay above a pub in England for that money. Pool area and terrace very nice, clean with lots of toiletries. Would definetly go back but insist a better room. Mijas is beautiful no matter how touristy it got. My eyes overloaded with the view. Amazing place.
Cons: Room not the best for 4 star. As a man on own travelling I have noticed I get put in the least desirable rooms on the resort. Paid very little tho so can't moan too much. Shower a bit rubbish for 4 star. Room 71.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Didn't have breakfast
Cons: Fridge was empty - would have been nice to have a mini bar which, obviously, you pay for
7.1 Good
Pros: Good hotel to stay in. Facilities are a little dated but staff are very helpful and friendly.
4.6 Okay
Pros: The buffet breakfast was very average indeed with low end meats, cheeses and hams. The cooked breakfast was stewed over heated trays. Hot beverages were all out of vending machines and vile. Really vile! Stick to the tea bags and hot water. Bizarrely, cups are one size fits all beverages and ridiculously small. You have to ask for a normal size cup/mug and there didn’t appear to be many of those.
Cons: This is most definitely not a 4 star hotel by UK standards. Our room was tired and basic. The air conditioning vents clearly hadn’t been cleaned for some while and were full of fluff so it was just as well that the very basic control unit didn’t work on medium/full power. There was a mini fridge but that only appeared to work when the room key card was slotted in to the electric supply. So, not much use when we left the room. There was a room safe but it cost 2.50 Euros a day to rent!! The grounds are pleasant though, particularly around the pool area
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything the staff were friendly the hotel was spotless excellent entertainment.
Cons: Nothing
9.0 Excellent

9.1 Excellent (695 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hostel El Escudo de Mijas in Mijas, you'll be just steps from Plaza de la Constitucion and Mijas Plaza de Toros. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby and luggage storage.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Kind, helpful staff! (Thanks for all your help, Margarita!) I loved the location: close to a plaza, with lots of restaurants, sites and great views only steps away but, since it's tucked in on a short pedestrian walkway, it felt like a secluded little "oasis". (There are a few steps to climb, in addition to the very short walkway to the entrance, so those with heavy luggage might not like this.) I also loved the view (both ocean and village) from the huge balcony - room #10. (The stars at night were stunning!)
Cons: The "body" pillow was uncomfortable. It seemed to be good quality memory foam, but felt heavy and awkward. I can't imagine a couple wanting to share this, although my room did have an extra one in the cupboard. A regular pillow would have been nicer, but this is just a very minor complaint. (Rooms with twin beds probably have twin sized pillows. )
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A pleasant spot in the middle of town but in a quiet situation. The room was bright and well appointed with a small balcony.

Pros: Manager of the hotel is professional in solving any issues with our booking.
Cons: Some receptionist don't show any professionalism. They should hire employees that know how to speak english. Its difficult if you don't speak spanish.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff very friendly, helping me to surprise my boyfriend for his b-day with a cake and a bottle of champagne. Hotel was very clean, fast check in . I will recommand this hotel for my friends.
Cons: the food was not so good . 7/10
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel was well equipped and the room was spacious.
Cons: Unfortunately the pool was closed which we were not aware of when we made the booking.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The resort is beautifully set up for summer with the most spectacular lagoon pools... but unfortunately, even though I'd checked the websites and couldn't see anything suggesting that the pools would be closed, they were. The indoor pool was open but it was quite small and not really for relxing in (no shallow area for young kids). The worst part was that the playground was a) fenced off, and b) closed for almost the whole day! They had people working at heights on the building next to it, so they closed the whole area except from about 4-6pm. So, we were left with almost nothing AT the resort to do. The one saving grace was that they had a good music/dancing show on Friday night which meant we didn't get the kids to bed until about 11pm (eek!) but it was probably the most memorable night of the holidays for them.
Cons: I guess we had bad luck with the playground and the pools (though I had sent them a msg via booking.com to confirm re: the pools before booking, but they never responded to my message so I took a punt since I couldn't see anything saying that they would be closed for our dates). Maybe I stuffed it up... but worth checking with them directly and making sure you get a response!

Pros: Excellent location for the beach, the train station and buses. Beautiful bar and lovely restaurant with excellent choice of breakfast items. Great selection of bars restaurants and shops in the local area.
Cons: The bedroom could do with a bit of an facelift. USB points for charging appliances and maybe a walk in shower instead of one over the bath.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location right in front of the beach, gorgeous buffet breakfast - loved the omelette station! The lobby and bar were lovely with a nice atmosphere.
Cons: Pool area could do with a little modernisation, would have been nice if they played some music through a speaker there. The sun was gone from the pool by two, however it was the first week of February with the sun still setting relatively early. In saying that we still went down there every day to relax and enjoyed ourselves.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was great, beds comfy. Sea view from balcony great. Quite at night.
Cons: The only fly in the ointment about the lovely modern bedroom was the lampshades! They really do need changing!

9.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are so comfortable We had a pool/sea view which was excellent Staff very helpful.
Cons: Everything very good
1.0 Poor
Pros: Easy access to the parking from room. Nice view of the sea.
Cons: The room looked like a 3 star at best days. Cauch dirty, construction of a bar or some sort going on with cutting machines, air condition making so much noise we had to stop using it. In the room you can hear other people when they ware flushing a toilet and since is a big hotel every 5 minutes... expensive 12.50 EUR for parking, inside 5 EUR /person pool access, safe in room 2 EUR all is per day. Inside pool very small not like in the presentation pictures. Beach is 5 min walk from the hotel. The beachfront it's only rocks which makes the front beach not a front beach. It's kind of 5 min left or right to the side front beach. The hotel actually has waterfront not beachfront. The game arcade room almost all the machines ware not working. All that worked was 2 pool tables and 2-3 car games. Bowling alley, football machines, air machine all out of order.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Nice and clean. Room probably needed a bit of updating.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The reception staff were helpful and polite, pool area really nice, location good
9.0 Excellent
Pros: being on second floor.
Cons: I wish we didn't have to deal with mosquitoes in the apartment as they attacked every night.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: pools and loungers were great. need to buy or rent towels. covid-19 was shutting things down just as the season was warming up, unfortunately. very handy location to restaurants, grocery stores and public transportation. good walks right from the hotel along the promenade and nearby beaches. cleaning staff were great.
Cons: charged extra for renting a room safe on a daily basis. had to buy our own pool towels or rent them daily from the hotel. reception staff were not very friendly or accommodating (there didn't seem to be enough of them and they seemed overworked.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: view of sea, pools and boardwalk Staff very friendly and numerous areas to walk, felt very safe in and out of the hotel. The room well laid out and had a small kitchen for breakfast and snacks if you wanted. The weather was perfect during our stay coast of Spain.
Cons: We had to leave the hotel a week early because the Coron virus-19 was hitting everywhere hard including Spain. It was very stressful and difficult to change flights home to Canada. We were unable to obtain any refund for unused week but we understand it was no fault of the Hotel and our choice to leave Europe while we still could.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We will miss your croissants, they were the best!
Cons: Warmer pool temperature would have been nice.

5.0 Okay
Cons: When we arrived, late at night, our room was cold and we could not find any heating controls, just a switch for "Air conditioning" which we assumed was for the summer. When we inquired the next morning about the heating we were told that the air conditioning switch was what we had to press for heating. There was nothing about this in the "Welcome booklet in our room. Nobody enquired later in the day if we had found the heating switch, nobody seemed to care!!!! Our wardrobe was very difficult to open and the cleaning of our room was very erratic timewise. If we went out early it was very rare to have it cleaned when we arrived back, sometimes the cleaners came at 3.30 .
1.0 Poor
Pros: Put out of hotel early poor communication over virus
Cons: Bad communication over what was happening due to virus
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast excellent, always hot with plenty of choices. Location perfect for marina, fish alley and promenade.
Cons: Nowt
5.0 Okay
Pros: very well located hotel, within easy reach of most of Fuengirola amenities
Cons: I found that the hotel's pool had been closed for the off season. there was nothing in their prospectus saying so, otherwise I would have booked an alternative hotel. On relaying this to the reception staff, all I got was a shrug of the shoulders, as if, tough. On arriving i was given the pass card for my room, which did not unlock the door to the room. I went back to reception, who issued a new card, but saying that the original was not at fault. I then, tried the 2nd card, it still didn't open the door. From the 8th floor, I then had to go back, again to reception. I informed the staff that the new card was still not opening the door to the room. At that point another guest standing next to me, said she was having the same problem. Finally, one of the reception staff, came with me to the room with a key. He found that it was the battery in the door that was at fault, not the card, so a mechanic had to be called to put a new battery into the mechanism. On getting access to the room, i found that the mini bar fridge, not to be working. It seems that it had been unplugged and would only work with the room card key inserted at the door appliance. So I then had to get a 2nd card to keep the mini bar fridge operational ie cool/cold
6.0 Good
Pros: Happy hour in Bar El Tren, 2 for 1, onsite car park, very handy in Fuengirola
Cons: Tatty furniture, poor service in reception, no free wifi even in public areas. The hotel really needs a total refurb.

Cons: Pay for wifi pool not open
6.3 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: On booking I booked for sea view and payed extra for this only to be giving a partial view , rooms and shower a bit dated but was only there for weekend so. Wasn’t to fussed any longer and I would have been happy on entering hotel I noticed the useful stars and noticed 4 stars , imo best it would be is 3
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Size of room
Cons: Very poor facilities in the room,no glasses or cups to make coffe or tea, no kettle supplied, fridge has no bar, so have to go out and buy everything. Poor pillows , and beds mattresses very poor quality, gives you back ache No free wi fi. They want to charge for everything - would charge for air you breath if they could. Breakfast was fine but annoyed with number of people smoking - should no smoking in restaurant areas. Parking to expensive, thus very empty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! .

7.9 Good
Pros: The location of this hotel is great if you like to be away from the beach. Town centre with lots of bars and restaurants close by.
Cons: We’ve been visiting this hotel for many years but it’s looking tired and outdated now. Last 2 trips the hairdryer in the room hasn’t worked, food isn’t great and it’s typically Spanish old decor needs an upgrade internally.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The location, hotel and staff were excellent
Cons: Unfortunately we arrived just before the hotel/Spain went into lockdown due to the coronavirus. The hotel and staff were excellent but our overall stay was not as we were confined to our room till we went home. Hopefully when the country gets back to normal we will be able to return for a proper holiday.
4.2 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: When I advised the balcony was unsafe rails were to be honest a hazard not secured by anything apart from silicone sealant, wobbled when my partner leaned on it floor 8. I was so scared could not use it, when I told staff they refused to move us, but did say if not fixed by the time we returned from dinner they would refund that nigh stay. Next day a different statement full cost but if you stay longer we will reduce payment. I WAS OUT OF THERE, WATCH OUT BALCONY LOVERS.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: The location was very good... close to metro train station and shopping area. Staff was helpful. Buffet style dining was good.
Cons: The bed, while very much appreciated king size, the mattress could have been a little thicker and softer and the pillows a little more fluffier.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was excellent, took no time to get from the airport via train, hotel was in the square as you came out of the station.
Cons: Thought choice of food one offer in the evening was disappointing. Boiled or Baked potatoes would have been nice, don't like potatoes in sauces and plain boiled and baked would have been lovely, we were fed up of chips!!

Pros: Food was excellent. Fantastic choices.
Cons: Drunk Brits on terrace.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I love new look of the rooms . If that wont effect price I will be staying there often from now. Location amazing.
Cons: Check in very slow. And loads of weird drunk people.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: This review was not for the 20th/21st march 2020, as due to the Spanish Covid 19 issue, it was closed for a 15 day period as enforced by the state, to prevent further corana virus transmission spread. ( wise decision) a shame the UK did not implement similar measures sooner. Having stayed some 10 days earlier, i can say the location is excellent, with a wide range of types of bars, eating places, shops etc. The reception on shift at our stay, was very helpful, plus just very short walk to Torremilanos station, for the Airport etc.
Cons: The Hotel needed a overall bit of TLC, but nothing to be to concerned about.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is great for the price . Very well situated ,nice personnel . I would decently recommend . Ideal for a cheap break away in the sun .
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The third time I have stayed in this hotel... Love the location - off the main road with a small plaza out front that has several cafes/restaurants & Don Gordo's pizzas. Close to most amenities and a short(ish) walk to the beach (Playa Bajondillo). The staff are always friendly and helpful but a room at the back can be a little noisy from the local church!
4.2 Okay
Pros: Being in Spain
Cons: Paid for 2 rooms weeks in advance but desk said only had one. Had to argue for several min show conf. Email & receipt. Finally convinced then I had 2 then had to wait over an hr for it to he ready. It was supposed to be 1 single beds but all they could give us is 2 singles. Advertised pool but it has been closed for yrs. Wifi is only available at the front desk meaning you have to be standing at the front desk to get it. Returned late on the second day after being gone all day only to find our room was left open by cleaning staff that morn.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location - clean modern room - cleaned every day - very friendly staff. I would definitely return to this hotel as my favorite in TM .
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location for almost most things, plus a few minutes walk to Torremilinos station, for airport and malaga bus center. Very helpful reception staff.
Cons: Sadly the shower head would not hold in its mounting. Needs some TLC.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Close to (5 min walk) bus station, train station, pedestrian area. A little further to beaches and botanical garden. Clean and simple.
Cons: Some might find the mattress hard. Probably healthier for me.
Overview Reviews
Your hotel facing the beach The town of Fuengirola, the ultimate holiday destination, located on the Costa Del Sol. The comfort of our renovated and air conditioned interiors, some with sea views. The beach just 30 m away, the hotel restaurant and the rooftop bar.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Pool was beautiful and room view was lovely nice hotel and very good location.
Cons: Some staff were rude on the basis of what ya been going on I.e lockdown of the country we wernt allowed out hotel unless essential. We had to check out of our room by 12pm and did not fly till 7pm they wanted us to pay a late check out fee fully aware that we couldnt go anywhere and nothing was open. So we wouldnt as it was not good considering the circumstances! So we had to sit at reception till 3pm then decided we would go to airport. Apart from that it was a nice hotel

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good
7.0 Good
Pros: The Staff were good, infact they were excellent at this very difficult time
Cons: I did not like that you had to pay extra to have a kettle in the room, the shower was not great and the shower flooded into the room a couple of times, having to pay extra for a sea view always annoys me
7.0 Good
Pros: Good location, friendly staff.
Cons: Coronavirus
7.0 Good
Pros: sky bar
Cons: no fridge or tea and coffee facilities in room
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Central location, nice pool area and excellent breakfast
Cons: No sun on our superior room balcony
1.0 Poor
Pros: Lovely modern hotel
Cons: The staff are very rude and unhelpful we stayed in the middle of the corona virus outbreak and were confined to the hotel and they did nothing to help at this worrying time. Nowhere is open to eat except the supermarkets but there are no cooking facilities in the room and the restaurant is only open for breakfast and would not let us take any food out for dinner. The woman in the restaurant watched us the whole time we were in there and made us feel uncomfortable then whilst waiting to go to the airport and confined to the hotel lobby (wouldn’t let us keep the room on) we were told not to slouch in a soda we we’re sitting on!! Absolutely disgusting how they have treated us at this already distressing time.
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: location
Cons: The room was small, there was no fridge (7 euro per day) no tea making (5 euro per day) No safe (extra again) no wi-fi, the air conditioning pumped out warm air, there was no double glazing so traffic noise made sleeping ni impossible, the "private bathroom" consisted of a partition by the door, with a glass screen separating the toilet from the wash hand basin, no privacy, and the wardrobe had a couple of draws between us for storage. And the T.V had just one English speaking channel.

(Rooms with twin beds probably have twin sized pillows. )

Room 71.
