Pros: Very helpful and friendly staff
Cons: Very small
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice little guesthouse to start or end the Shimanami Kaido at. The owner was very nice and kindly helped explain about the road, bicycle rent etc, including a map.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: It was cozy and clean. Host contacted me before checking in and recommend me all kind of places I was interested about. Perfect for backpackers travelling solo!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed was one of the comfiest we have used in japan, with a soft quilt and curtains for privacy if desired. The heater in the bedroom was already in when we arrived so the room was warm and cosy immediately. The host was very kind and welcoming into a hostel that was also her and her family’s home. She was also very helpful and spoke almost perfect english - she gave us a discount for a nearby Onsen, showed us the local attractions including the temple walk and a ramen shop with amazing ramen! We were able to store our bikes inside undercover which was really useful. We stopped twice at this place, either side of a few days in Hiroshima and we were kindly allowed to leave some of our luggage safely there which made our load lighter for a few days, much appreciated.
Cons: If the hostel was full it would have been a bit tight for space, it was a bit quieter while we stayed so this wasn’t a problem.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I stayed there 2 years ago then stayed again there. As last time , there is like a home when you stepped in. And welcoming family and baby is absolutely adorable!!! They gave us helpful tips. Really comfortable and make me feel so relax.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: This was our second stay and the host recognised us straight away. The luggage that we left from our first stay from a few nights ago was exactly where we left it, safe and sound. The host was as welcoming as before and provided us with another discount for the onsen and towels to take with us (she did this for us last time as well but I forgot to mention in my review). We were given the same beds in the same room as before and everything was just as comfortable. I would not hesitate in booking this place again if I ever return to japan and Onomichi.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our host was wonderfull, she helped us with discovering Onomichi and we felt like home!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful host family Nice location close to restaurants and a small supermarket.
Cons: There was only one shower and one toilet for all the guests.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful couple Running the hostel. Have full knowledge of surrounding area and Shimanami Kaido area.
Cons: Only one toilet .

Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing food at the restaurant
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel Cycle was the best accommodation of my trip. The entire hotel was beautiful and the rooms themselves made me never want to leave. Everything was incredibly clean, the beds were comfortable, and the room was well taken care of. The bathroom alone was a game changer, especially the bath tub—perfect for relaxing after a long day. They also provided every amenity you could possibly need, as well as included a welcome drink at the bar as part of your check in package. If you stay, make sure you pay the little extra to have breakfast included with your stay. It is very worth it and very delicious.
Cons: The restaurant was expensive for dinner.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent for cyclist! Vety good dinner and breakfast.
Cons: Sorry, could not stay longer
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Located right next to the Shimanami Kaido start ferry, in a cool new urban space featuring swanky restaurants, bars and shops. Spacious, clean and comfortable rooms.
Cons: Compared to some ryokan experiences, it felt like it lacked a little bit of personality. Though this probably comes down to taste.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Well designed hotel.
Cons: The room we stayed in was on the ground floor facing the street, would have been nice to stay on first floor but we still had a great time and the facilities are lovely.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is great - just a few hundred meters from the short ferry to the start of the Shimanami Kaido, and about a ten minute walk to the train station. A bike rack in the room was a nice touch!
Cons: It certainly isn't the cheapest place to stay in Onomichi, but you get what you pay for!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A modern/industrial design that caters to the needs of cyclists doing the Shimanami Kaido bike course. Rooms are new, clean, well designed, and comfortable. The staff were great, always helpful and kind. The location is perfect - easy walk to the train station, along the harbor front, and very near to the ferry to begin the ride. The building has parking for bikes inside, lounge areas, cafe and restaurant, and even a bike shop under the same roof. Not a traditional Japanese hotel, not a traditional Western hotel, but a very positive and unique experience that I would recommend. You do not have to be a cyclist to enjoy the hotel, but if you are a cyclist you shouldn't miss this place!

Pros: The room was very comfortable, the staff super helpful and friendly, lots of nice extras like the free use of a mobile phone for the duration of your stay and a free shuttle service to the station. It was a lovely place to relax after our cycle ride to Imabara and back. Comfortable bed and a nice hot bath to relax in, several very reasonable restaurants near by.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel staff were very friendly and polite. The hotel is a short walk away from the main hub of Onomichi which was not an issue; there is a shuttle bus, or free bicycles available (which we used and thoroughly enjoyed). The room was very comfortable, nicely presented and had everything we needed.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff were wonderful. So helpful and welcoming. Cosy clean room.
Cons: Was expensive and without breakfast. Location a bit of a walk from centre but free shuttle bus was available
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Shuttle to station was nice. Rooms were clean and reasonably priced.
Cons: We booked two people per room but only had one pillow. The hotel did give us a second once asked, but it would be nice if this was taken care of prior to us asking.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff did their best to answer any questions. We liked their shuttle service. Breakfast had a nice salad but would have loved a few more western choices like warm eggs. Scrambled or omelet. Loved having the bottled water and fridge.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly and patient with the fact we don’t speak Japanese, so they went out of their way to help us with translation apps. Very clean and nice baths, too!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: PROS- The friendly and helpful staff where accommodating when greeting my friends and I with the limited Japanese we can speak/ understand, although I have heard from others that translation apps are good here, the staff went out of their way to explain the onsen and bathing facilities to us which was nice as we where 外人 (foreigners) who where trying to understand the somewhat awkward yet very enjoyable process of bathing with strangers! The property is close to bus stops which use IC cards for easy day trips and over all the room service and Japanese experience is something all foreigners should try! スタッフへ、滞在がありがとうございました!
Cons: CONS- While understandable for the sake of the onsen, the property is far from the station (20-30m via bus) and has a lack of things to do In the local area, however i still highly recommend this property if you are seeking the Japanese experience!
6.7 Good
Pros: Great Onsen, great price, friendly staff.
Cons: Out of room cleanliness, smoking area designed to spread smoke everywhere, transport links.

With a stay at Guest House Yadocurly - Hostel in Onomichi, you'll be within a 5-minute walk of Onomichi Chamber of Commerce Memorial Museum and Onomichi Literature Museum. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, luggage storage, and laundry facilities.
7.9 Good
Pros: Great location close to everything tourists are interested in. Authentic japanese atmosphere.
Cons: Can be a little noisy.
6.3 Good
Pros: Really friendly staff here with great communication. Easy access to start the bike ride. Lovely bakery two minutes from here- recommended!!
Cons: The property just isn’t that great and it’s overpriced, right and small (like everything in Japan, I know). Just felt a bit outdated and also noisy floorboard so was kept awake by people upstairs but if you’re in a tight, there are worse places to stay and I think everywhere else is more expensive.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The host and the cute japanese room
Cons: The Stairs were old and narrow
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The location is quite close tho the station.
Cons: Dirty matresses, dust everywhere, cold room, shower and toilet were on the ground floor, sink is outside of the building, window fell out after after trying to open it.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Awesome old house in a great location with beautiful modifications. Owner was such an interesting guy who had lots of fanstastic information to pass in about Onomichi and it's future. We had dinner together and he showed is how to make okonomiyaki, Hiroshima style which was a really cool experience. Excellent selection of tea and coffee (French press and filter!).
Cons: The little lounge was cool but nowhere clearly to pop used tea bags, and had to go downstairs to the laundry area to wash up cups. Not a big deal really though. Also our fat heavy suitcase was a pain to get up the stairs but that's our own fault!
7.1 Good
Pros: Location is great.
Cons: Showers and toilets on a separate level. No onsite staff . Creaky wood and beds. I have stayed at nicer hostels in japan, cheaper. With that said it is a small town and not too many options. So this one wins for being very close to the station too.

Pros: The views were spectacular. It was close to the park (also had good views). The Japanese style rooms were spacious and the onsen also had a good view.
Cons: The location was hard to get to - steep unlit steps if walking from the station, and a roundabout taxi journey to the town centre. Bear in mind that most restaurants which open late are back down near the station.
7.1 Good
Pros: Rooms has excellent view of the Onomichi town. Is walking distance to the observatory and shrine. They keep the public bathe area clean. Staff are committed to do their best. The hotel should looks great during sakura period as the areas are filled with sakura trees.
Cons: Driving into the hotel can be challenging as the roads are narrow and steep at some parts. The pillow which is filled with beans are either too high or too low. (Mine is too high whereas my friend at the other is too low.)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is amazing!!! The Japenese Tatami room with view on the city is fantastic! Staff is very pro and welcoming! This is so far one of my best stay in Japan! I loved it! Everything was perfect! You can watch the sunset from the top of the hill 5 minutes walk! The room is super clean and very traditional! The onsen got a view as well!!! Five star traditional hotel for me! You can walk all the Temples and the place is very quiet while being very close to the city!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Superb dinner. Fantastic view of the entire Onomichi landscape, and of course the sunrise if you wake up early enough - all from your room window!
Cons: It would be perfect if our room maid could speak a little bit more English, on top of her flawless service and warming smile.
7.1 Good
Pros: The view is breathtaking. The room is very spacious and very old style Japanese. All adds to the nostalgic feel of the hotel and Onomichi I’m general. An amazing city to wander on the slopes and the hotel is a great start point to do so.
Cons: The hotel preserved its authentic aspects such is great but also feels a bit old. Spotless clean but not well maintained in a bigger sense. The location is great but no shuttle is provided up the hill so with luggage you are obliged to take a taxi. No breakfast is available on site.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything ! This place is hidden gem of the Onomichi.. Once enter the place, it’s a different world.. Upon check in, you will be served Matcha green tea carefully made by staff with beautiful cup.. Dinner was amazing !!! not only the food, presentation so much attention to the details.. If you don’t speak Japanese you may face some difficulty but as long as you have some translations apps it will help..
Cons: None
4.6 Okay
Cons: The location very disappointing among industrial area
5.4 Okay
Pros: Very nice rooms with the exception of the dining room and the entry hall. Beautiful garden. Very friendly staff.
Cons: Food quality is below of what we experienced in other Ryokans. Price is far exacerated.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: On our arrival, whilst it was raining heavily, our hosts were standing in the street waiting to greet us with extra umbrellas. The service was immaculate. The room was spacious and the surroundings beautiful. The futons and eiderdowns were the best ones by far in our two week tour of Japan. The traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast were delicious and plentiful.
Cons: We were initially given a room that did not correspond to the booking.com description. Although they didn't speak English, when we explained our concerns they did their best and moved us to the room that we expected.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We liked the experience and authenticity of the place which gave us a chance of experiencing more traditional Japanese food and habitation. The service was very good and in the end the stay resulted not only in living in old time Japanese luxury but also in a good rest and relaxation. Onomichi is close and has temples, hills and a good amount of local shops offering a relevant small town contrast to Osaka and Tokyo.
Cons: The bills could be more English friendly. It is all Japanese script and hard to understand. It matched what we expected from the booking site and they took creditcard so no problem. WiFi only worked in the reception, today it is important for many to stay connected anywhere.
5.4 Okay
Pros: This is an old Style Japanese hotel. Reminds me of top end hotels 20 years ago. Clean and quiet. Beautiful gardens, excellent bath.
Cons: Although well maintained, the hotel has not updated their amenities and services from long ago. For example, no WIFI in room, limited TV channels, If you have children or do not have a basic understanding of Japanese, don't go. Front desk personnel was marginal to say the least. Dining service was excellent. Food was good.
Hotel Innoshima - Onomichi - Bedroom

7.3 Good (209 reviews)

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great views, peaceful location
Cons: Shared onsen type bath
7.9 Good
Pros: I was pleasantly surprised with the hotel. Although the hotel is aging, maintenance was pretty good, and everything worked and was in good condition. The staff were all very friendly, helpful, and efficient. Food at dinner and breakfast was very nice and plentiful (although breakfast was purely Japanese style). The view from the public bath was wonderful.
Cons: It is at the top of a very steep hill. I was cycling, and although I had no trouble getting up to the hotel, many cyclists with luggage, bad gearing, or if they are out of shape, will have to walk. I would have liked to be able to store my bicycle in the room, but that was not allowed.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Great view, great nature
Cons: Far from port and kind of old hotel
7.9 Good
Pros: Great view from room. and beds were a nice change from futons.
Cons: Private bathroom only had a toilet so if you wanted to bathe you needed to use the onsen. Obviously onsens come with their own restrictions so keep in mind if you have tattoos or uncomfortable getting naked with strangers. The ability to request a shuttle was not made clear enough but they do offer them.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Amazing views from the bedroom.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The view and onsen.
Cons: The hill on a bike!
7.1 Good
Pros: Good location, marvellous view, spacious room.

7.1 Good
Pros: Adequate hotel but quite expensive for what it is.
Cons: A simple breakfast included would have suited the price of this hotel better.
7.5 Good
Pros: Great location.
Cons: The double bed 140 cm was really too small for us (and we’re not too fat, we were there to bike!) so we luckily upgraded to a bigger room with 2 beds and space for the suitcases.
6.7 Good
Cons: Old noisey aircon , thin walls
6.3 Good
Pros: Not so much in particular. Hotel is oke, but nothing special and much too expensive. Location is in centre, at waterside. Good for walking to temples, but 15 min walking from station and start cycle path.
Cons: Small room. Hotel looks outdated, especially in breakfast room and lobby. Room had been refurbished, but just not right (old fashioned). Bedding was with synthetic blanket, yuk! Breakfast table with plastic cover, doesn’t feel nice (sticky).
