The hotel itself was spectacular. Quintessential English country house, renovated and modernised without ruining the charm. Couldn't be better.
Breakfast unfortunately was not included and not up to par. Restaurant did not offer fresh brewed coffee only - fancier coffee drinks like cappuccino bought individually (I like to drink a lot of coffee in the morning). Although the restaurant staff was good the food was mediocre and the bread stale and no buffet or many healthy options. Note that the restaurant is not the same business as the hotel. Fortunately there was tea and coffee in the room provided by the hotel.
The Breakfast. Room was cold like the food. A Skillet breakfast included two cold fried eggs and streaky bacon which wasn't even crispy. The sausage was dense and tasteless. All items on the plate had a black edge. Tea sold by the mug when other hotels offer a tea pot. The price was also too high. Spoilt the overall visit as the hotel was great.
The bed was to soft for me.
Booked in for a couple of nights as was attending a friend’s 50th party at the hotel. We were given a complimentary upgrade to a Retro Deluxe room. The room was very spacious and very stylish in a retro yet contemporary fashion. Couldn’t fault the room at all. Loved it
