The grounds were very very nice. A hedge maze as well as woodland walk. The flowers around the property were very colorful. We spent a very nice late morning through the afternoon on a rainny day reading in the sitting room with Tea and soup. Very comfortable and nice. We didn't have a news paper while we were there. They found later that their fax was down so their order didn't go in.
very welcoming the hotel is not near the shops or city centre - £7 in a taxi each way
The upgrade to Executive room for £5 was great value I tried to get the Internet on my laptop but it wouldn't work. There was a number to call for help but no one ever answered and I tried about 20 times at least, I also left a message but im still waiting for a reply. The girl at reception was great she cancelled this from my bill and couldn't appoligise enough
Good quality hotel and public areas very comfortable. Staff were all very good and friendly particularly the breakfast waitress who was extremely friendly with all guest, and nothing was too much trouble. Absolutely nothing.
Comfortable hotel set within nice grounds. Bar/lounge area was very relaxing, tastefully decorated and nicely furnished. Breakfast was organised very well.
Good facilities fair price
it looked really nice and was close to town center most of the staff didn't speak good English and the breakfast was very disorganized and over cooked
Unfortunately we were all unwell with a sickness bug during our stay - the staff were brilliant - showed consideration, asking how our little boys was, the kitchen offered to make him something that wasn't on the menu and the night porter brought us fresh bed linen during the night. Very impressed by the consideration and professianlism of all staff. Would recommend it to family and friends. nothing
Excellent value for money. Good size room , very clean and quiet. Excellent breakfast. Great value for money. Will become my hotel of choice in the Dundee area
Bed nice and comfortable. Powerful shower and plenty of hot water in the morning. Huge breakfast available.
Friendly staff, quiet and and very clean room. Overall a very nice hotel. The room was a little dark and the furnishings tend to accentuate this. The duvet on the bed was somewhat oversized for summer and it was hard to get the room cool enough. To be fair, I did not ask to have it changed.
In my type of work, I travel a lot, and have stayed in many different hotel chains. The main thing for us was the very clean and well kept room which was furnished to a high standard, we also had a great view of the Victoria dock. The health spa and gym facilities are excellent. I will certainly recommend this hotel to my friends and if I return to Dundee in the future, I will choose to stay in this hotel.
Food and atmosphere. Location was good too. Round pin plugs meant I could not charge my phone
staff were very helpful and the hotel was great value and use of leisure facilities was great nothing
Lovely hotel, rooms very chic, comfortable and stylish. Excellent Facilities, great view over quay, and nice central location, highly recommend this hotel to everyone.
The bedrooms are spacious
Its very central and a lovely location on the quay in Dundee. Hotel is quite modern rooms are clean and well appointed. Bed was a bit soft, bits of the hotel such as corridors are a bit tired round the edges.
Best value for money on our recent trip
The room was immaculate with wonderful views over the city. Staff are exceptionally helpful and pleasant. Excellent meal in restaurant. Spa easy to access and good surroundings.
kindness of personel, view from room (317) and overall look and spirit of the Hotel. Cleanliness of bathroom (black spots in corners of the shower) + state of the painting on the walls and closet doors in the entrance of the room. Rooms could also use a minibar.
The room,Service,The Staff,Luxury,
A clean and inexpensive room with a comfortable bed. Centrally located in the city. Friendly and helpful staff. Room lighting a bit dark - but heck it's a bedroom! Late night background noise might annoy some people.
Dindee Backackers was very comfortable, alougth not very good for lame or disabled ,,while there was an elevator this was located on 1st floor and stairs had to be climbed to get to it. Only one complaint and it was the radiator in bathroom was far too warm
location, common spaces, staff room filthy and never once cleaned while we were there for 4 days and constant noise
location, ease of access, friendly staff
The location was brilliant, just across from Caird Hall in the city centre. It was only a ten minute walk to pubs/clubs/restaurants. We were in a twin en suite room which was very large and had soft comfy homely beds. The shower would vary from full blast power shower to a trickle very suddenly. It took a long time to get lathered up and hosed down when it was shower time
Situated between the main shopping centres so very easy to get to. Easy to access and efficient booking in/payment process. The bed was very cosy to sleep in!!!! No chair or tv in the room so was very difficult to entertain a small child. Was not shown the tv room or kitchen facilities by any staff so didn't know what the procedure for there use was. Room was at the front of the building and was extremely noisy during the night.
Room and bedding was clean. Receptionist was pleasant and friendly. Ensuite shower room was small: no where to hang bath/shower towels; toliet too close to wash hand basin. Blinds or a net curtian at bedroom window would aid privacy. Service at breaakfast, whilst pleasant, was questionable in terms of availability of food/drink and efficiency.
sheets & towels clean carpet filthy-did not look like it had been hoovered for a long time-no milk on first day-too far out of town
The owner was delightful and the whole flavour of the place reminded us of a place where we used to work (a wee bit Faulty Towers in the nicest way) The breakfast was nice and the diningroom was pleasing to the eye. The room was too small for a double, as was the en suite. The TV did not work, there was a problem with the door lock (which broke and therefore remained unlocked) and the blind was stained.
Nothing The room, the location, the staff,...
The fact that we could have the use of the microwave ovens and cook our own meals. The ability to have continental breakfasts at an early time in the mornigs.
The view was excellent and the breakfast good and the rooms warm and adequate. I would have liked a bedside lamp to read by at night and had to get out of bed to turn off the light. The dining room was very cold too.
Clean hotel and staff very friendly Room was too small and spartan, no proper dressing table, no hairdryer and not enough surfaces to lay anything down. En-suite was too small. Breakfast was poor with not enough choice. For someone who cannot have citrus juice I was left with nothing to drink.
Helpful friendls staff no
I liked absolutely nothing about this hotel and would not stay there again if they paid me! The car park was inaccessable. The bins in my room had not been emptied since the previous occupants left. The plumbing rumbled all night long keeping me awake. The "restaurant" was an Indian take away which was open to the general public and they served the worst curry I have ever tasted.
staff very friendly and helpful
The warm welcoming from the staff. the breakfast was great. My room was a little cold.
There was a warm welcome and during my stay, nothing was too much trouble for my hosts. Decor, furniture and fittings are top class and my room was large and immaculate. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and generous: a substantial meal and a pleasure. The small bar is beautifully furnished and welcoming. Parking is easy and free. The hotel is undergoing a complete renovation and will rectify its one deficiency (the lack of a restaurant) by the spring. The renovation work does not impinge on guests.
the room was lovely. free wifi bathroom was a bit shaby but clean and functioning
friendly people clean rooms
The people who ran it were lovely the rooms were a littel tiers and in need of some TLC
Breakfast was very good. Room was nice and warm with very friendly staff. No soap in bathroom and no shower.
Comfortable, spacious, excellent restaurant and food, nice location, fair walk into city centre, but enjoyable No, cannot complain, it was my third visit, and will continue to use this hotel
Very comfortable, excellent service none
Good rooms, helpful staff and nice meals Was a bit difficult for my father who is disabled
Cosy atmosphere and relaxing environment. Complimentary glass of wine and bathrobe were not expected but very welcome. Staff serving the morning breakfast was not very attentive.
friendly, efficient staff and excellent food - breakfast, high tea (up to 7pm) and bar snacks (up to 9pm) are are as good as you'll get. Formal a la carte menu very good but expensive. Reception staff and restaurant staff outstanding. Bar area very informal and enjoyable, relaxing with helpful, attentive staff. Bar prices (including meals) very good. Stayed in a twin room with my son. Room clean and functional but dated with tiny TV. Bathroom very dated. Beds were small singles and very, very soft/squeaky mattresses - the beds would be the main reason I would think twice about returning. Also at £88/night B&B for a twin room I think the hotel is a bit overpriced - £75/night would be about right.
Every single member of staff was polite friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and the facilities perfect. We felt relaxed and would definitely return.
THe staff were excellent as was the food. Leisure facilities for changing were poor as was the fact that there was no attendant overseeing the pool or 'mini' gym.
We only stayed the one night and found it to be a nice clean and friendly hotel with staff only too happy to help you. We eat out in town but if we stay again we will eat in as the food looked great and the smells from the restaurant were mouth watering. Breakfast was fantastic with plenty fresh fruit and a large fry up if you wanted it. We were woken up at just after 6:30 with a constant drumming noise that lasted around 20 mins, spoke to staff and was told they were having problems with heating system and they could not apologize enough and hoped it didn't spoil the stay. Have to say it did not as we have a young son who gets up at that time most mornings anyway. We were aware of the traffic noise when we first went to the room but what do you expect from a hotel in a town so no real problem.
Food was exellent value 4 money Not enough parking places
Nice family atmosphere
Clean and safe for a lone female traveller It was a bit too hot for me and the floor boards squeaked a lot
The pleasant surroundings , the pleasant room and the of the staff. I would stay again.
From the moment we arrived until the time to leave, we were very well taken care of. The staff are faultless, always smiling and pleasant and nothing is too much trouble. The views from the restaurant are lovely and we had some of the best meals... try the trawlermans platter..... delicious. The room was a very good size and Spotlessly clean. Many thanks to all, it was a lucky find for us, and we will be back.
Generaly, a well appointed hotel. Relaxed athmosphere. Room allocated was primarily intendes for a disabled guest/guests. We had no impairments and would have appreciated a room with bath - we must stress that we did not ask for a room change.
free Internet access and very comfiortable rooms
Excellent restaurant , reasonably priced . Friendly staff . We were kept awake for several hours during the night by noisy wedding guests and taxi drivers sounding horns to attract their clients at 01.30am .
A big bed and good food! There was nothing that I can say I didn't like.
Excellent Breakfast - Fresh Fruit No
Nice big bed and room, which looked relatively new. Very clean too. Near airport and Ninewells Hospital. Shower was a bit unpredictable on the 2nd night, fluctuated between hot and cold.
The variety of the breakfast and staff so pleasant at all times The fact that to move around had to travel bt taxi a hotel courtesy car would have been nice to travel into town?
very clean, comfortable accomodations. Comfortable beds. Clean and modern bath. Good breakfast. Very difficult to find - not on any major road. Far from St. Andrew's.
Owners were great - very accomodating. Helped with drying wet clothes after a day of playing golf in the rain. Great breakfast! Pleasant common space for use by guests. Great location to simply relax - reasonable distance from Saint Andrews. As we found with many places we visited in Scotland, directions to locations were not great. Lack of signage was a common problem
The hospitality, cleanliness and peaceful setting
Large, comfortable, clean rooms. Big beds. Hosts were very friendly and accommodating.
Lovely people, excellent food, comfortable room. Our room was right next to the roadway with a lot of traffic noise.
The rooms were nice and clean. The family was also very friendly and service oriented. A little bit too far on the outside from St Andrews where we actually were planning to stay.
The owners were very friendly and helpful.
Lovely guest house with really friendly staff. The room our son was in was very comfortable and had a good tv set with DVD player for him. The family wing was a great feature as we could leave the room doors open to allow our son to transit through. Our room had a very hard mattress and we were lucky if we could get 3 channels on The tv, however, the landlady did point this out to us.
Clean, comfortable room, friendly staff
Helpful and friendly staff rather tired decor. old fashioned.
The availablity of wireless internet. The room was cold during the day.
Charming and accommodating staff. I arrived at 6.45am, exhausted and they immediately let me check in (6 hours early!) and arranged breakfast. Lovely quiet lounge for coffee and conversation.
Good food. Pleasant staff. Breakfast area very small when queuing to be served. Bed uncomfortable. Room very small. In need of up-grade. Shower very inconvenient in bath. 40 to 50 young people gathered in the street untill 3.30am very, very roudy. Expensive compared to others in the area.
The restaurant was fantastic we ate there both nights, the bar was friendly and cosy. We had a huge bathroom also unfortunately there were builders walking on scaffolding outside our window all day
Very comfortable and good location
Helpful staff and closeness to city centre
Easy to find, excellent location to town centre shoppping, plenty of amenities close by. Excellent, clean, modern rooms. Excellent choice of breakfast and very helpful staff. Recommended
everything especially the food
Bed was a bit lumpy and uncomfortable
everything staff very helpfull and smart. very handy for bus service to dundee found nothing to complain about
On arraival, premier inn did not have my booking, but fortunately they had some spare rooms available, why did your booking system connect with premiers?.
You get what you pay for.Situated close to the high way.
Comfortable bed, basic room but entirely appropriate for our overnight stop Bathroom tiles 'tired'; could smell cigarette smoke in the corridor coming from another bedroom
The friendly attitude of the staff. Helpful reception staff. The themed nature of the attached restaurant. good breakfast available. Very pleasant surroundings. Close to public transport. Old computer equipment for internet use and in bad position
close by to the town, location for eating, entertainment was good
All told a very enjoyable experience.Nice accomodation, pleasant and helpful staff and we both felt that we would definitely book with you again Restuarant food was excellent but this was marred greatly by the lack of staff on breakfast duty. This resulted in inordinate delay and many disgruntled patrons who were quite vociferous in their complaining, and rightly so. This was a shame because with even one extra staff member on duty the whole process could have been efficiently managed.
Spacious room and en-suite, with good parking. Breakfast was average. Too few breakfast staff for the number of guests.
Easily accessible for guest with mobility difficulties. (Disabled- friendly) room was clean, fresh, comfortable, quiet. Receptionist pleasant. Good food at reasonable price, and good service, at attached restaurant. 1. Confusion was caused when searching for map after booking on internet. Map showed two Premier Inns on site, and several with same or similar name. This needs sorting out. 2. From car when driving to hotel, inn sign obscured by overgrown tree. 3. Not very clear how to find and work heating controls in room - had to figure it out. An explanation would have neen useful.
Staff friedly, very helpful and it was outstanding value for money, really good breakfast. Ideal for a business trip or a no frills stay. We were leaving our son back to university, stayed over and did some retail therapy Absolutely nothing
Good location, simple/small room, good value for money
Good car-parking facilities, quiet location, easy walking distance to Riverside prom., and city centre. Also, excellent buffet breakfast. Soundproofing of rooms in our wing was non-existent, so noisy neighbours could have been a problem that fortunately we didn't experience. Otherwise, very good for the price.
pleasant staff the room was a little untidy and the bathroom was dirty
Value, comfort, cleanliness, in-room desk facilities, dinner, breakfast, grounds Niggles only: poor hot water pressure in shower, no wifi in room, wait at check-in
helpfull staff; well-priced; convenient location; quiet no newspapers; complex key system - better with 'swipe cards'; limited TV channels
i found that there was not enough information about Dundee its self me & my husband did not have a car nor had we been before so found it difficult in finding where was good to go eat or have fun, plus there wasnt enough about the bus service outside the premises as we ended up using taxies which can become very costly we did not like the fact we couldnt get a meal at the hotel when required as there was only set times which isnt good as at hotel you should be able to eat on demand. I work in the hotel industrey and feel you need to be alot more accomodating in gust satisfaction
privacy, so friendly stuff and nice clean room, i stay there twice last month and really can recommended nope
rooms small and dark
The proprietors, Barbara and Douglas, and their staff are warm and welcoming, very knowledgeable of the area for shopping, golfing, and visiting attractions, very accommodating for taxis and breakfasts on the go. The hotel is very well kept, very clean, warm, inviting.
Good value hotel in a good location Initially overcharged on the internet deal quoted - later rectified Adjoining rooms with interconnecting door are not well enough soundproofed
The shower was great, good location made it easy to find
The best thing about the stay was the fact that the car park was adjoined to the hotel. The shower was great also. I was disappointed not to have more than one towel in my double room. I was disappoined not to have enough coffee or any shortbread in my room.
Easy access staff friendly and willing to help Better facilities in bathroom bed was a bit small enen though im average height more coffee satchels
Very clean and fresh Good sized rooms No stool in disabled room toilet to sit at sink. No instructions on how heating system worked. Faulty lights in communal toilets had not been fixed for over a week. Toasters very slow to brown. Fresh juice machine not refridgerating.
In the centre of town,so handy for shopping and restaurants.
Location, hix brand, you know the standards None
Excellent facilities in good location Nothing
Room was extremely clean, all facilites well maintained and staff were very poilte and helpful. Breakfast can be difficult to get seated as no seating plan and if all guest arrive at same time, then tend to have to wait for seats and also for the food items to be replenished.
Pleasant location good facilities
bar and food selection good room too hot
The rooms are superb, it really does feel like being at home and the staff were great.
The staff were helpful but more importantly they were also cheerful. n/a
The reception was friendly and efficient, the room was comfortable and staff were pleasant and helpful
Friendly staff, great breakfast Shower in room 126 was extremely variable despite following exact instructions provided. lock on bathroom door did not work.
Friendly staff, reasonable bar prices Buffet breakfast was good, but we had to wait on both mornings
staff and facilities where excellent nothing was a problem for them, any queries where dealt with quickly. Rooms where excellent although I would suggest they update their matresses, choice of breakfast was great but a bit slow to fill up containers.Would suggest they have someone to monitor this so they can react quickly. Otherwise a fab hotel.
Comfortable, Helpful Staff and a good night's sleep
Best breakfast choice ever
a large room a second chair and a "moving pipe" in the bath would be better
it was handy for what we wanted to do tour around the area
Staff friendly and helpful None
The friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of the room
staff were all very friendly i would have plug sockets by the bed 4 people 2 charge phones
Friendliness of staff Breakfast
always comfortable and spacious enough for a couple of days with our little one had problem with card machines due to a fault their end and had the drive again t get cash to pay on arrival having already travelled 9 hours that day and arriving at 10pm with a 2 year old so was rather annoyed that they couldn't take their payment the following morning as we were booked in for two days and it was their fault not ours .
Met all our requirements
Nothing I hate the plastic undersheets some hotels use. I understand why they use them but I asked for it to be removed & it wasnt. The bed was only acceptable (Lenny Henry must have got a new one in the Ad). The bathroom smelt stale. The pub next door was closed when I arrived on Friday & had a poor selection of Vegetarian food available by 8pm on Sat. Disaster - Use the one in Dundee city unless you are self contained
Room very clean, good breakfast, good location to an on the road trip around Scotland
