Hotel Art Furrer - Riederalp - Building
1
8.2 Excellent (219 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel Art Furrer in Riederalp, you'll be next to a golf course, within a 5-minute drive of Aletsch Glacier and Hohfluh Gondola. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, luggage storage, and laundry facilities.
7.5 Good
Pros: The spacious family room, the proximity to the ski slope and the pool for the kids
Cons: Maintenance of the building/rooms (paint peeling off) and the flexibility of the reception staff was limited
7.9 Good
Pros: The hotel is 100m from the training lift. Extremely convenient for a family with kids taking ski lessons. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. The breakfast offers a wide selection. Swimming pool is nice - clean, not over chemical treated, warm and different depths, with a view on the mountains. Kids really enjoyed this perk. Nice, spacious sauna too. Overall, Riederalp is a special village because there are no cars. We really enjoyed walking everywhere on the snow paths.
Cons: It's a pity that you cannot eat dinner in the restaurant unless you reserve half-pension for the entire stay. This was not clear when making the reservation. Having to always go elsewhere to eat dinner is not handy with small children; the hotel should have an on-site restaurant that is available, or offer the option to add half-pension after arriving. While there are kitchens in the rooms, the stove/oven is disconnected. It would be better to either renovate the rooms and take out this unusable appliance, or have it available, especially if there is not the option to eat in the restaurant. While the fact that the hotel has probably never been renovated is accurately reflected in the photos, so I was not surprised, they could still do better with cleaning. When we arrived, there were dirty glasses on the table; our carpet was not vacuumed during the stay.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This building on the West end of the hotel is a nice option if you want to use the pool, because it's just downstairs and you don't have to go outside to reach it. Compared to the East building, this is in slightly better condition (we stayed there other nights). We had a room on the north west side, and it was still light and had a nice view. Breakfast was good, in a cozy area. In this building (unlike east building) you have a complementary coffee machine. We arrived late and the receptionist on duty kindly walked to meet us at the gondola and help carry luggage to the hotel because no taxis were on duty. Location is very handy, especially for reaching the trainer lift (100m) and the ski rental shop, ski lesson booking and Coop supermarket - all 6 min away walking. NB Google map is inaccurate about the walking distance from the hotel to the gondola, trainer lift and restaurants. The hotel is actually about 5-6 minutes from all of these places, and very handy.
Cons: The only thing we missed in the stay was an option to have dinner at the hotel. Because only people who book half-pension can eat in the restaurant at the hotel, it's not very handy.
6.7 Good
Pros: Reception service was really good (arrival and departure). Breakfast was simple but all what we need before a ski day. only 5 minute walk from the main Gondola.
Cons: Room equipment and decoration was REALLY old. Floor, bathroom, table, shelf, …. were old outdated (1970's) as well as staircases. A good refresh would really be inexpensive and bring an overall excellent image.
Berghaus Toni - Riederalp - Building
2
8.1 Excellent (339 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Riederalp, Berghaus Toni is next to a golf course, a 3-minute walk from Hohfluh Gondola and 11 minutes by foot from Pro Nature Center. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, multilingual staff, and luggage storage.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The views from the Berghaus Toni are literally the best we’ve ever had anywhere. Unbelievable. The staff - fabulous and friendly - the atmosphere - relaxed and inviting. The accommodation was quirky but clean and comfortable. Felt like you could really just relax from as soon as you put your bag down. Spacious drying room for snow gear. Food was good. Would love to go back.
Cons: Nothing - this place was awesome
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel, which is just a 5 minute walk from the cable car (West), offers beautiful views and the staff here are all quite pleasant. The breakfast room is lovely in the morning and the breakfast itself is very good. Good coffee. We also had dinner here and enjoyed it. Again, pleasant staff and very comfortable setting. The room was very clean and the linens were good, except the pillows. The bathroom in our room was fine, with a nice hot shower, and the hall with hooks for ski jackets, etc., was appreciated. There are radiators that you can adjust in each room, so easy to keep nice and warm. Wi-Fi was good.
Cons: While the lobby and restaurant were nicely decorated and very comfortable, our room was very basic. It felt something like a youth hostel to be honest. Very thin doors and absolutely no soundproofing so conversations next door and in the hall are clear. The hotel mentions that they will come pick up your luggage from the cable car station, but they don't say that this is not available after 8 p.m. They also don't offer the cable car hours, which just seems like it would be helpful, and we apparently caught the last one up for the night.
5.4 Okay
Pros: just the view from the restaurant.
Cons: Need a lot of renovations, especially the toilet. no door for the shower! Only the lady from the staff was nice Breakfast was OK, but I already tried many hotels in Switzerland and they can do better. Very expensive (regarding the quality/price)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Amazing staff. They were extremely friendly and made our stay most memorable. The views were unbelievable and we can’t recommend highly enough!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is super! We had a great family room on the top floor with amazing views, clean room and updated bathroom. Everyone at the hotel was super helpful and positive, breakfast was great, staff attended to all our needs promptly, timely and followed up as well. Dinners and bar/drinks were equally as wonderful.
Cons: Nothing.
Hotel Royal - Riederalp - Building
3
9.0 Excellent (94 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel Royal in Riederalp, you'll be next to a golf course, within a 5-minute drive of Aletsch Glacier and Hohfluh Gondola. Featured amenities include a computer station, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and luggage storage. Event facilities at this hotel consist of a conference center and meeting rooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful mountain setting, facing south with sun all day in early February with views of the high peaks above Saas Fee and Zermatt, including the Matterhorn. Riederalp, unlike Wengen and Zermatt, really is car free. You'll likely schlepp your bags from the cable car station to the hotel yourself, unless you've made prior arrangements for a snow cat. No streets, just snow paths through the village. Not much in the way of shops or restaurants. The ski area is lovely, not much in the way of challenge or long trails, terrain broken by rocks and cliffs with roller coaster runs, lots of kids in ski school, a good place for families with young children learning to ski. The hotel was mostly occupied with Asian tour groups (Japanese one day, Chinese the next) come for a view of the Aletsch Glacier.
Cons: No complaints. See above, not sure I'd return for a ski holiday.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location and service
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Ski in ski out. I'll stay here again next time
Cons: hope we can have sausage and mushrooms for breakfast
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, a short walk from cable-car station, very close to ski lifts and cross-country tracks, beautiful suite with large bathroom, nice view and comfy bed. Car-free resort with beautiful walks.
Cons: Can't think of anything, honestly.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about the hotel met our expectations

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful view out the comfortable balcony. The roomy and well designed bathroom. The spacious bedroom. The very good breakfast. The ample and tasty dinner at the hotel's restaurant. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Cons: Given that you had to pay for overnight parking and the cable car return fare, the value for money was not so good given the cost of the room (about 200 CHF). The bed headboard was not comfortable for sitting up in bed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room is clean and comfortable. There is also a nice little balcony outside the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Charming Hotel - great view of the Alps - friendly and efficient staff
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent family hotel, where 3 generations with together. The room (pharaoh) was "wow!" with a very unexpected decoration. Nice valley view on the mountains. Extremely quiet. The restaurant is veg friendly.
Cons: Some walking needed to join the ski lift Breakfast not overwhelming Don't go to Riederalp for the night life!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The family-run hotel was tastefully decorated and gives the vibes of a home away from home, and is really near to RIederalp Mitte station. There is a bus stop just outside the hotel if one wishes to go to the Moosfluh or Bettmeralp cable car stations that take visitors up to the lower and middle viewpoints of the Great Aletsch Glacier... I chose to walk though. I had a room with a balcony facing the Valais alps and was really glad to have clear summer days so I was able to see even the Matterhorn and the Monte Rosa range from the room, and managed to catch the sunrise one morning. The 3-course dinner at the hotel's restaurant was delightful classic Valais fare. The owners are really nice and provided help with suggestions for hikes I could do in my short two-day stay - thank you, Marc!
Cons: nothing
