Close to the action Very different but good experience
Walking distance from every thing
A very nice, cosy place. I think in intentions of the owners the hotel was meant to be in "italian style", but for me as an European - it was rather English, victorian. Nevertheless, it has everything you need onboard. Some facilities - bath, wc - really old-styled and beautiful. Very friendly staff - we were to leave 4 days earlier due to emergent medical situation - they reduced the price accordingly, without any problem at all. I honestly reccommend this hotel. Will visit again for sure.
everything was perfect!!
The location and the history of the hotel
Running out of hot water
Bedrooms very small and noisey
The best thing, definitely the location. The staff (at least one of the guys) was very kind too. The hotel itself is super small, my room didn´t have a window, it was hot and there was not air conditioned, the room was very small and the bed quite uncomfortable and old. The value for money is really really low. I guess that is the price for accomodation in the heart of San Francisco!
The San Remo Hotel is an ideal choice for the traveler eager to experience the authentic San Francisco atmosphere. Just a short distance from Fisherman’s Wharf, it is part of the North Beach neighborhood known for old-world buildings and Victorian architecture. It is also where some of the country’s most famous and oldest Italian restaurants remain, and so it is a good accommodation for the foodies of the world in addition to business or leisure travelers.
Not far from Ghirardelli Square, with its premium boutiques and chocolate shops, and steps from a cable car stop, it is a good place to begin an exploration of the city. Union Square is just one block from the hotel’s front door! However, that is not to say that the hotel is without an array of luxuries and comforts of its own. Decorated with lots of historic items and antiques, it offers concierge services, free Wi-Fi, coin-op laundry, parking (for a fee), tour and ticket help, and a cozy bar and lounge in the lobby area.
The rooms are like stepping back in time as most are beautifully decorated in the Old West style of early San Francisco. The hotel was built in 1906 and retains much of that historic charm and esthetic. The rooms are available as double, triple, single or family-sized. Where they differ from other properties is in their classic “pensione” design. This means that the rooms are well-appointed but share a bath with others on the floor. Most feature a sink in the bedroom area. There is also the coveted penthouse with its rooftop views of some of the city’s most famous sights.
With a perfect location and old world charms, the San Remo Hotel is a good choice for visitors to San Francisco.
