Pros:-The hotel and its grounds are beautiful and really impressively decorated, including a giant Christmas tree in the lobby. The large pool area is large and gorgeous. And the maintenance workers are very friendly. Our room was clean but dimly lit, with a nice balcony, fridge, and safe. - The bellman, Agripa, was very polite and professional in helping us to our room and helping with our luggage upon check-in/check-out - The spa was really nice and accommodating (they also do after-hours treatments), and the therapists named Lindy and Leti gave us the most amazing foot massages! - We liked the nice turn-down service, which included the setup of the mosquito/insect net.
Cons:- No AC and no extra water in extreme heat. It was nearly 40-degree Celsius when we checked in, yet the AC wasn’t working (due to Zim’s rolling power cuts) and our ceiling fan’s control string was broken -- so we had a VERY hard time cooling off in the extreme heat. Worst of all, after baking in this heat all night and losing water from constant sweating, when we asked for extra water at the front desk the next morning, they and their housekeeping staff refused and told us to buy some; we explained we’d paid extra money for this hotel (as opposed to cheaper ones in the area) due to the fact that it had advertised AC. So when this hotel couldn’t deliver on a service they’d advertised, their refusal to offer a remedy as simple as extra drinking water showed they don’t care about their customers’ well being -- only their own profits. - Breakfast had lots of options, but probably half of them were covered in flies (including chopped fruit, yogurt, and other wet food at room temperature). We couldn’t enjoy these things out of fear of getting sick.
