9.0 Excellent
Pros: The views were superb. Comfy chairs to relax in, attentive staff.
Cons: Maybe for is oldies the lighting in the restaurant could have been brighter, but apart from that we enjoyed our stay.
7.0 Good
Pros: Views!!! The beer. The bathroom was lovely. The staff in the restaurants. The spa facilities were good. When I didn’t like a certain cheese on the cheese board for the deserts I was offered to try a certain cheese and that I could have what I wanted!. Bonus like.
Cons: We paid for a delux double room turned out to be two twin bed put together. The Windows didn’t seal very well we like the sound of the waves crashing but was a bit too noisy! No beans with the full English????
7.0 Good
Pros: Lovely setting, very helpful staff
Cons: Breakfast quality. Leisure facilities.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent attentive staff both on reception and in the restaurant
Cons: Bedroom window needed cleaning as a lovely view of the sea and rocks outside but was blurred a little if I was being pinickity. Price of wine in the restaurant was a touch pricey (£23 being the cheapest available which is £5 more expensive than most hotels of similar standard)

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, Breakfast fabulous! Gorgeous rooms and staff really attentive.
Cons: Dinner at the Hotel was not as excellent as I was hoping for. I expected the food better but I’m afraid it was average.
8.0 Excellent
Cons: Downstairs facilities were amazing ,spa, pool, lounge areas and cinema were a bonus. The location is great, 2 minutes to the beach and to the town. Room needed a makeover, bathroom dated and tired. Room was small but view was lovely. Very clean with lots of nice touches . Reception staff excellent, cinema staff were terrible made a mistake on our entry fee and then wanted us to go and pay once the film had started. No communication between the staff which made it embarrassing for us. Cinema is a must , shame they had the same film showing on the two nights we were there as we would have gone both nights. We were recommended to book the restaurant but we didn't and when we walked past there was no one in there so disappointed . We didn't eat in the hotel on either evenings. Breakfast was nice, staff didn't have 4 star abilities asked for full cooked breakfast and she had to go get a pad to write it down. As the hotel was so quiet disappointed that we got a dated room , does that mean they are all dated? Overall a great stay we loved the location and the facilities are recently updated which makes a massive difference.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was amazing. Good gym and pool
Cons: Too hot in the room. Smoke detector flashing all night in our room

Pros: The breakfasts were very good. Everyplace was spotlessly clean. The hosts were very welcoming And helpful.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Owners were very welcoming and I can’t fault the experience at all!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was superb as all cooked fresh to your order and for the time selected.
Cons: A little bit more central but not far into the village for an evening meal. Otherwise bring your own with facilities to heat and sit in the lounge.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Really helpful and friendly service. Excellent breakfast on Sunday morning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent. Location is good BUT do NOT follow the post code or you end up in a farm in a narrow road. This hotel is located on the main road A361.
Cons: Exiting the hotel was 'dodgy' as the view creeping out was partially restricted and traffic coming down from the right was difficult to see until you were on the main road. One of those mirrors on a post opposite would have been helpful.

9.0 Excellent (46 reviews)
Overview Reviews

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great Location and comfortable!
5.0 Okay
Pros: great location close to the beach
Cons: more of a hostel than a hotel which makes £100 a night on a Monday in low season expensive. no breakfast offering whatsoever
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Really loved this place. Perfect for the town and beach. Whilst it is room only the host provide free tea and good coffee in the communal lounge which is a great bonus. Very attentive hosts and we were made to feel very welcome.
Cons: The inner front door bangs shut so it was difficult to get a good sleep as other guests coming in late at night did not seem to notice or care about closing the door so it doesn't bang. A notice should be put on the door 'PLEASE CLOSE QUIETLY SO YOU DON'T DISTURB OTHER GUESTS WHO MAY ALREADY BE ASLEEP OR WANT A LIE IN' You may have already guessed this really p**sed me off.
6.7 Good
Cons: Rooms situated in pub garden, people outside talking until 1.50am keeping us awake. No space in car park despite asking for a space.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really clean and good value for money. Dominique very attentive and nice basic breakfast thrown in
Cons: Nothing. Did what it said on the tin!

Sandy Cove Hotel - Ilfracombe - Bedroom

8.4 Excellent (567 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Sandy Cove Hotel in Ilfracombe, you'll be a 4-minute drive from Exmoor National Park and 7 minutes from Ilfracombe Harbour. Featured amenities include luggage storage and laundry facilities. Free self parking is available onsite.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location of the hotel is excellent and the sea-view from our room was lovely. This is partly what you pay for. Our room was clean and comfortable. The cooked to order breakfast was excellent. We decided to eat at the hotel for our evening meal. The food was delicious and all freshly cooked. It was a little pricey but this was to be expected as it was a fine dining experience. We would recommend the hotel to others. I found it to be good value for money.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The location and views from the restaurant were great.
Cons: Our room (no. 24) was tucked round the back, quite small, in a shabby condition with tiles coming away from the wall in the shower, looking directly onto an outside cupboard. The most disappointing thing was that we could hear so much noise. Other guests moving around, doors, the TV and their conversation even though they were speaking at a normal volume. Very thin plasterboard walls and really creaky floors. flimsy build.
6.0 Good
Pros: the room upgrade were good ( and necessary)
Cons: Fawlty Towers : When we arrived, we were not in the main hotel but in a house converted into rooms, cold and humid. Though it was mentioned on booking.com that it was a separate building, I did not expect a private house converted into rented rooms : this was more like a bed and breakfast and the room had a freezing tile floor ( no walking bare foot) and the bathroom was also freezing. Door mirror was broken in corner with cello-tape repair. We had to walk about 150 years in the rain to get back and forth to the main hotel. When we complained, we were upgraded to new room for one night an another one for the 2nd night. Both much better ( thank you). Now lets talk about the food service : Friday was the valentine evening, so it was busy and there was not enough staff to serve. We waited 45 minutes to get the starter, then another hour for the main arriving around 10pm. We gave up for the dessert and asked for take away which instead arrived on a plate. The second night we gave up and ate in the local pub - the Sandy Cove has a local reputation for their mis-management, so it was a laugh. Then breakfast : the fashion is to serve coffee as a cup by cup request: when there is not enough staff to serve the hot food, there is no chance to get to 2 cups of coffee in the whole breakfast time , unless you stand with your cup in front of the kitchen doors. What about bringing coffee pots or putting it in self service. All very slow and un-efficient.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The water wouldn’t get hot , the room was boiling and we waited 20 mins for breakfast to be told they mixed up our order
Cons: How hot the hotel was
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Menu
6.0 Good
Pros: It’s just the best location
Cons: We was situated in the bayside my booking said we was outside of the hotel but had not expected it to be over the road . Room was very cold and the floor was cold with huge gap under the door not helping .the are outside of the rooms is a disgrace looking rather like a tip (also area outside pool by entrance a bit shoddy).Few confusing issues with restaurant staff not sure which table was which and not getting toast that was requested but that didn’t spoil the really good substantial breakfast.
5.0 Okay
Pros: location was fantastic as was the food the interior of the hotel was good.
Cons: unfortunately we were not located in the main hotel but in a secondary bungalow location some 200m from the hotel, as my wife is disabled we had to drive to the hotel for breakfast and evening meal. It states that the secondary location had been recently redecorated but there was paint missing from the window reveal and the wall behind the kettle, the mirror was broken and taped up. Also the area into this accommodation left a lot to be desired, it seemed to be a storage for redundant equipment there being a skip, 3 old baths, a pallet of breeze blocks some old plastic pipework etc, the view of the sea was spoilt by there being an old rusting chair and old bucket outside our window. The food was good but there seemed to be problems with what was ordered, and what was received as bits were missing. Lastly during breakfast on both days at around 9am the cleaners passed through the restaurant with buckets of water mops and brushes to start the jobs.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location. The staff were very friendly.
Cons: It was a bit noisy in our room.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Firstly the hotel is in an excellent location. On arrival we were informed that we had been upgraded to "Room 25" which had a four poster bed and sky sports and over looked the harbour. The room was a good size clean and tidy with the fabulous view across the harbour. All the staff were helpful and friendly.
Cons: Price of the cream teas were very over priced, bar areas would benefit from a little TLC.
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: The location was great which was why we chose this property.
Cons: The first room we were given was a pet-friendly room, not quite sure why we were given this room as we did not have a pet with us. It was also in great need of repair, it looked and felt unclean. We requested to be moved to another room which was fine but this was still a pet-friendly room without any carpet on the floor. The breakfast was inedible, the oil needed changing that the tomatoes and egg had been cooked in.
7.0 Good
Pros: Good, clean accommodation, friendly staff, perfect location, value for money, I would stay again.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were great very friendly and helpful. Great location for getting out and about. Breakfast was great, your web site says continental so to find full English was a great bonus.
Cons: The lift seemed a little unpredictable it moves up and down when you get in and the buttons very slow to respond.
8.0 Excellent

The entertainment was great and we loved the bingo! Breakfast was good, offering lots of choice and overall we felt our stay was excellent value for money.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The arrival at Wildercombe House is impressive, it stands out amongst all that surrounds out and is a testament to it's Victorian builders. We were greeted by the owner, Anne who was friendly and very helpful. She and Barry run a very tight ship with everything just as they want it to be which is to the guests benefit. The cooked breakfasts, we stayed for 3 nights, were a real treat. The sea view was good - although obstructed by rain for all but our last morning when it was stunning. I am a Building Surveyor and was impressed with the quality of the restoration and refurbishment works that were undertaken within the last 10 years by Anne and Barry.
Cons: If you could make it rain less in North Devon .....

Pros: Even though mistress of the house had, that day, been rushed into hospital the husband and family really pulled together to ensure stay met expectations. Good full breakfast; very good sized room with ensuite. Quiet at night with sufficient parking. As town is small most things in easy reach, if you don't mind walking. A lounge is present if weather stops you going out.
Cons: Several storeys high with, to our knowledge no lift, so ask for lower floor bedroom if you are unspritely. At the price very good value, so wouldn't knock it.

7.0 Good

Cons: Breakfast quality. Leisure facilities.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent attentive staff both on reception and in the restaurant
Cons: Bedroom window needed cleaning as a lovely view of the sea and rocks outside but was blurred a little if I was being pinickity. Price of wine in the restaurant was a touch pricey (£23 being the cheapest available which is £5 more expensive than most hotels of similar standard)
