Ibiza City is the largest city in Ibiza, otherwise known as Eivissa. The city is a heritage site on the southeast coast of Ibiza in the Balearic Islands. The city is most notable for the vast walls which surround it and it offers many intriguing historical sites.
Ibiza Airport is located about seven kilometres southwest of Ibiza City. Cruise ships also stop at Sant Antoni de Portmany which is to the north of Ibiza city. As the city has its own port visitors can arrive there by boat either from Denia and Barcelona in Spain, or Palma in Mallorca. Ibiza has a Mediterranean climate with very little rainfall during the summer. The time zone is GMT+1.
Visitors should make a trip to the summit of Dalt Villa (in the upper town) during their Ibiza City holidays. At the highest point in Dalt Villa is the cathedral church of Santa Maria de Las Nieves. The vestry of the church houses a small museum with Gothic and Baroque paintings. There are also a variety of museums such as the Museu Arqueològic d'Eivissa which has a substantial collection of artefacts and relics. Among the underground galleries within the city walls is the Museu d' Art Contemporani which includes a gallery of modern art. Visitors can also enjoy performances at the Teatro Pereyra theatre during their Ibiza City holidays.
There are several beaches near Ibiza City, the closest of which is Playa de Talamanca, a stretch of curved beach which includes sunbeds, parasols and bars. Other alternative beaches close to Ibiza City are Ses Salines and Platja de ses Figueretes Ds Cavallet.
