The capital of Mykonos, Chora, is filled with white-washed houses surrounded by meandering cobbled lanes. The city has an old-world charm that appeals to people of all ages, making Mykonos holidays popular with couples, families and singles. The island is surrounded by pristine shoreline, and Mykonos's beaches are one of its main attractions. One of the most popular beaches among families is Ornos beach, a Blue Flag beach which is only 2.5 km away from town. Paradiso Beach and Super Paradiso Beach (otherwise known as the Twin Beaches) have a more lively atmosphere, with many water sports on offer and 24-hour music bars offering visitors an exciting nightlife.

Other landmarks worth visiting include the islands' iconic windmills, which date back to the 16th century. Once used to mill wheat, they now serve as museums and landmarks of the island. In addition, boat trips can be taken to many of the surrounding islands in the summer season. Travellers can visit the island of Delos, believed by ancient Greeks to be the birthplace of the gods Apollo and Artemis. The ancient remains on Delos, including 3 temples of Apollo and the House of Dionysos, are recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
