Located in the North West of the United States, it is also a very varied destination and, from the thriving city of Seattle to the Mount St. Helen's volcano, there's so much to see and do on Washington holidays.
Seattle is serviced by Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and it is easy to get from the airport to downtown Seattle via train, shuttle bus or taxi. You may want to hire a car if you are going to travelling around the state. The best time of year to visit is July or August, when visitors tend to be safe from the infamous Washington rainfall. The time zone is GMT-8.
One of the state's proudest possesions is the Olympic National Park, a fantastic nature reserve with a great variety of different terrains and ecosystems. The park is a great place to start your Washington holidays and here you can spend several days exploring mountains and rainforests or wandering along beaches. If you want to do some hiking, head to the stunning Mount Rainier National park, with its vast forests under the mountain peak and hikes ranging from comfortable to challenging. Take a drive on Highway 504 to see Mount St. Helens, an active volcano. Along the highway are fascinating visitor centres and you can see the damage left from its 1980 eruption and the areas amazing recovery since.
In downtown Seattle visitors marvel at the Seattle Public Library, an impressive glass and steel building, or explore Seattle Art Museum for its world class exhibitions. You can head to the top of the famous Space Needle for great views of the city. Whatever you want to see in the varied 'Evergreen State', Washington holidays have something for everyone!
