Breakfast was very good and we liked the personal touches each morning. Hosts were lovely, welcoming, helpful and very friendly. Beds extremely comfortable. We liked the essential oil smell in the shared bathroom! Shared bathroom and toilet were lovely and kept clean. The location for getting into the centre of Amsterdam was very good. Good links with trams and buses.
Don't judge a book by it's cover! As you arrive, you go into an apartment block and up a lift. The 'hotel' or more accurately, the hostel itself is a converted flat, rooms are well presented but appearance outside is a block of flats- not a public building like a hotel which admittedly was a bit unexpected and a surprise to us! We weren't expecting to be staying in someone's flat! Our only other grievance is our bedroom was far too hot! Even with the fan and the window open each night.
This is a great Bed & Breakfast! We liked everything - breakfast was lovely, property very clean and well presented. Location is very convenient as well - only 15 minutes to the city centre :)
The ‘To Go’ breakfast was basic but generous. We had to eat it at the small table in our room facing the wall, as the host his guest sat at the only patio table outside in the front hallway. The directions for breakfast were not clear and the owner snapped at us when we asked how it worked.
This place was small, dated, and crowded. It was nothing like the pictures, which had obviously been staged years ago. There are no tulips, no galleries. No quiet gardens, just a view overlooking a busy noisy intersection.
It's an unusual, even quirky accommodation choice. The organization is quite ingenious. Frank is friendly and discrete but you might misread his sense of humour if you're not Dutch :) We also appreciated having good blinds so there wasn't too much light in the early morning. Good breakfast choice and affordable stay.
We would have appreciated a second key in order to be autonomous, but this was not available The shower would constantly go cold - the thermostatic faucet seemed to be broken We didn't notice the check-in limit of 8pm so be careful with that - but Frank was flexible when we arrived slightly later The location is a little out of town and it took a while to reach it by public transport, especially at night. More convenient if you need (as we did) to be in the area.
Breakfast was excellent, Frank was very friendly and accommodating, room and facilities very clean and comfy. He even got up extra early to provide us with breakfast the morning we were leaving.
