Overview

Welcome to Boat-hotel De Barge, definitely Bruges’ most original hotel. De Barge, which formerly plied the Bruges-Ghent canal, is today a well-known character three-star hotel, which floats on the Bruges-Ghent Canal. 750 meters from Bruges Railway Station. Easily reachable by car due to its location near the old ramparts of the city. The central Market Square and the Belfry of Bruges are within 20 minutes on foot from De Barge. Entering the old city center can be done via park “Minnewater”, also known as The Lake of Love. The non-smoking cabins at De Barge have a nautical atmosphere with its typical boat decorations and blue colors. All the rooms have windows looking out on the canal (except the 5 Cruise Cabins at the Quay side), a private bathroom, and a little desk area. Guests can relax at the lounge, and have a drink at the honesty bar. In the morning, you can enjoy a breakfast buffet with fresh breads, eggs, bacon, cold cuts, cheeses, juices and fruits. Have a nice cup of coffee or tea while you watch the boats drive by on the water.

Summary of reviews

Guests say
Guests consistently praised the hotel's unique and scenic location, often highlighting its proximity to the city center and tranquil setting by the water. Many found the service to be friendly and helpful, and several reviews noted the quality and variety of the breakfast. However, cleanliness was a major concern for a significant number of guests, with repeated reports of bed bugs and some issues with room and bathroom hygiene. Room sizes were generally considered adequate, though some found bathrooms small. Overall, the positive aspects of location, service, and breakfast stood out, but cleanliness issues detracted from the experience for several guests.

It's a refurbished old boat! Very quiet with a great location. Staff was very courteous and attentive but things are not roomy anywhere. We had a great visit in Brugges!
