A weekend getaway for a young couple
The overall vibe of the hotel is very calm and peaceful. We really liked being able to walk to the restaurant on site and spa site from our room. We stayed in a lake view room with a generous patio, just wished it was warmer for us to spend more time out there! The room was clean and very spacious. The staff at check in/out were very hospitable as well as our servers, Daisy and Nancy, at the Old Mill Room.
Honestly, our stay was excellent. My only gripe would be beyond the control of the hotel.. Some of the others guests were a bit uppity. It made me uncomfortable to watch them talk down to the staff.
Very nice hotel convenient to Charlottesville
Overall it was a nice stay. The restaurant was very good as well. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars was the noise level. Asked for a quiet room, got placed next to a staff closet. This door was repeatedly slammed from early to mid morning. Sleeping in was one of the goals of the getaway so that wasn't awesome. Overall great hotel though, nice facility, plenty to do on the grounds. Would go back, but would ask for a different room.
restaurant very good-- gluten friendly ---staff attentive ---but can be in a rush at dinner time
view from the room --- terrible looking over roof with equipment
Paths for walking. Spa amenities very nice.
Room service breakfast was not hot. It is a long way from their kitchen (have to go outside) to many of the rooms but they should have some kind of hot box to account for that.
We loved our stay. Friendly staff, comfortable room, bed, and porch. Outstanding sorts facilities, close to town and Blue Ridge mointains, affordable breakfast, breath taking surroundings. ,
Spacious, tasteful room with a private patio overlooking the lake. Beautiful grounds, quiet, peaceful, yet only 5 minutes to downtown Charlottesville.
Nice landscape and property
Room amenities and bedding comfortable
We paid for a room with a view and balcony and got neither.
