Friendly staffPros: The car was right at the office, so no long walk to get going. When we got back, we needed a cab to get back to Souda Port, and they had staff call us a cab while we filled out the paperwork to return. It worked perfectly, and made our tight timing work out. We made it back for dinner on time. Price was exactly as booked. They had very few cars -- it's a very small location -- so if you were particular about what you wanted, you may well have experienced trouble. But we just wanted something with wheels that could get us to Heraklion, and they had what we needed.Cons: N/A

Pros: Caldera were excellent as they had NO booking from Kayak but were still able to find us a 9 seater minibus for me and my family. If not then we would of either had 2 vehicles or no vehicle at allCons: No booking from Kayak to Caldera, lucky we had a voucher booking reference with us. Also no pick up from airport as arranged and I had to leave my children and elderly parents at the airport while I had to walk and find the hire company. Process took over an hour as they had to locate a vehicle large enough for the family which left them worrying at the airport.

Cons: The signage at Chania airport could be clearer for those who are not arriving via plane. I went to the lot only to be told I had to go inside to check in. After walking back and forth, there was quite a bit of time waiting for the attendants to pick up and bring the cars to the lot. They were working very hard but the whole process seemed to take a very long time.

Stood UpPros: NothingCons: Upon arrival in Crete, Sixt was the only company that had closed their station. Our flight was delayed and we arrived before midnight. Once, we grabbed our luggage we hurried to the car rental area only to be told the person working the Sixt station left a couple minutes before us. All the other car rentals (enterprise, hertz, Avis, etc) were laughing when we told them Sixt had left as they checked the late arrivals and made sure to stay. Sixt automation system was not working and I had no way to contact them to rearrange. Will never book with them again.

Pros: We had to upgrade because we had an extra person with us. We got an upgrade, so that was nice.Cons: They couldn’t tell us a price for the upgrade. Said they needed my credit card to tell me the price. The car was. It safe. The brakes screeched loud & I had to pump them. The side of the car was scratched and dented on one side. The price was still about 50 euros more than what was on the paperwork.

Enterprise Rental Car ScamCons: They did not let us rent the car. We were not allowed to rent the car due to not allegedly having a AAA international license. We didn't have that license and we were still able to rent a car from a different kiosk in Chania and also in Santorini. I suspect that since I was able to lock in a good rate for the car reservation they did not want to honor the pricing.

Need an international license.Pros: Couldn't rent the car because I didn't have an international license. Would have been good to know this before I got there. Ended up having to rent a piece of junk car from some shady rental place on the side of the highway. On the plus side, I saved 100 Euro because it was way cheaper than Europcar

- Chania International Airport is located 15 km (9 miles) from the city center. A number of major global hire companies including Europcar, Budget, and Enterprise have counters at the airport, situated in the arrivals area. If you are traveling to Chania during the peak European summer months, make sure to book your hire in advance using KAYAK to avoid missing the best deal.
