New Delhi car hires from £72/day

When considering car hire in New Delhi, it is best to choose a car that is not too large, as navigating New Delhi’s crowded traffic is easier in a smaller, more nimble vehicle; but it is also prudent to choose a strong, modern car with good safety features, just in case of the unlikely event that you end up needing them.

The speed limit set within the city for private vehicles is 50 km/h and 70 km/h on highways. Violations of speeding laws are not always enforced, but the police have been trying to crack down on speedsters, and exceeding the speed limit can, in some cases, result in being charged with dangerous driving. Speed cameras have been installed at several problem points in the city, and speeding around these areas is likely to be recorded and punished.

There are a number of car parks available around the city. On-street parking is not permitted for longer than an hour, and violations can result in heavy fines or getting towed. Your best option in most cases is to park in designated parking areas around the city. These offer a variety of rates for hourly, daily, weekly and even monthly parking. 91 metro stations in the city have been equipped with multi-level parking facilities, and these may prove very practical for getting around in the city if you decide to mix driving with some use of public transport to avoid traffic.
