Rooms at Hostería El Pilar are cosy and comfortable. All of them feature private bathroom facilities and views of the local landscape. The property's restaurant serves local dishes based on original recipes by their authors, as well as international cuisine with ingredients from the Patagonian forest. Meals are cooked in a wooden oven and fresh fruit and vegetables are locally harvested. Hostería El Pilar also features a cosy seating area with a fireplace and a library. Parking is free of charge. 9.6 Excellent
Pros: Christina and Guillermo went above and beyond to make my stay as enjoyable as possible given several unforeseen circumstances. The food was delicious and the rooms are spacious with incredible views.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hosteria el Pilar felt like coming home after a long day of hiking! Cristina and Guillermo were the best hosts! The place has a cozy atmosphere with a nice fireplace where you can sit and enjoy your drinks. The room was spacious, clean and had a very large bed, with nice views of FitzRoy. The breakfast and dinner were amazing!!
Cons: Everything was perfect!!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We loved the hospitality and the location of this charming hotel. We were also very impressed with the delicious meals served on premises. The location was perfect as it allowed us to hike to fitz Roy right from the front door of the hotel. We also loved meeting coca the hotel cat that entertained us during dinner time.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff is friendly and thoughtful, give you nice tips about the trails, location is beautiful, food is excellent. I enjoyed the amenities in nice reusable flasks, no plastic waste!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Heaven on earth even in the rain ! Food was excellent and prices very reasonable. The staff was warm, friendly and very helpful. Located alongside a major trail in Parque Las Glaciares.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We greatly enjoyed spending two full days here in the middle of the mountains. The popular day hike to Campamento Poincenot and (if you're ambitious) Laguna de Los Tres starts outside the door, and we could see the famous peaks each morning from our window. Another day we did a different hike that starts about 1 km further down the road. Since it's an isolated spot, we relied on the Hosteria for our meals, which were wonderful. Breakfasts are included, packed lunches are available, and for dinner you can choose from a menu of several delicious items. Our room and the common areas were very pleasant and were great for relaxing after a strenuous day. The proprietors were unfailingly helpful and gave us all the advice we needed on trekking options. If you don't want to rent a car, you can take a bus from El Calafate to El Chalten (we used Lengas) and then continue on route 23 (it becomes a gravel road at that point) by taxi to the Hosteria. Also after your trek to Poincenot, for variety you can hike downhill into the town and then take a taxi back.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is fantastic and the people are even nicer! We were well taken care of and the view is surreal.

Pros: We loved how Lina treated us, helped with insider tips. Her attention is great and her home made breakfast, amazing. She was very flexible and super helpful and warm. She really cares about her guests and keeping it simple and special with details. Thanks again, Ann-Sophie and Miguel
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a warm, cosy, friendly, home away from home. We enjoyed our 5 nights here. Lina and Augustina were fabulous, great hiking and restaurant advice, and the breakfasts were delicious. Vegemite for the Aussies and an avocado for the vegan one morning! The beds are really comfortable and there’s a good hot shower - both very important after a long day hiking.
Cons: There’s nothing I didn’t like! But a couple of extra hooks on the walls would be great (to hang jackets etc) as there is not a lot of space.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast is individually, no mass products, but rather homemade. The description of the way to the path "Laguna Torres" was easy and effectual: "go right > stairs > mountain". And that's was it was: easy to find. Thanks a lot!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great central location, nice welcome during the check-in with some very helpful tips on the hikes and restaurants, comfortable bed/room, delicious breakfast
Cons: If you are a light sleeper you might be woken up if sleeping in the downstairs room. As it is an older building you can hear other guests walking up the stairs and in their rooms.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Eco friendly place with comfortable bed close to restaurants and coffee bar. Easy parking. The owner gave us very useful advice for hiking. Nice breakfast and option for lunch box. Stunning surroundings!!!!

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good. The restaurant was a pleasant place to relax in the evening. Nice view of FitzRoy. Well located. Staff was very helpful. One even found a place in town where we were able to watch a US football playoff game on a big screen, a service that was much appreciated.
Cons: It is a bit of a walk to the bus station. No elevator to second floor rooms could be an issue for some guests. But really nothing to complain about.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Such a warm and well decorated place located right at the base of the sendero Laguna Torre. Always welcoming, nice decor, rooms and linens are top quality and it was a great place to relax after hikes and watch as others came down from the mountains. We thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality, great boxed lunch and the design of the hotel is beautiful. They have a cafe and games to play in case the weather is not cooperative. Great stay.
Cons: It was great all around.

Pros: We stayed for 3 nights at this property and couldn’t be happier. The hotel was conveniently located and within walking distance to the main strip of restaurants and bars. The rooms were clean and well appointed and the front desk staff were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast options were somewhat limited but was delicious and provided daily. They also offer packed lunches if you are planning day hikes.
Cons: A few more food options would have been nice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved our stay at Hosteria Kaulem! It was very comfortable and clean, and or room had a view of mount Fitz Roy. There is a really friendly vibe in the small boutique hotel. Breakfast was excellent. Beds were super comfortable

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place, well located, clean, comfy bed, nice host.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Anita was very helpful and welcoming host. The house was comfortable and clean and well located to nearby shops and cafes. It’s a cute lodge style house and facilities were good for self catering and a long stay.
Cons: We stayed in the house that sleeps 4-6 but there is only one bedroom (with a door) which opens onto the other bedroom (so not a lot of privacy for a big group) and one bathroom to share, so might suit families more.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was super cozy, amazingly well located and the host’s positive and proactive attitude made for an amazing experience! The area is super safe for kids and there is a artisanal alfajor shop just behind which has one of the best alfajores we had in the whole of Argentina. Thanks Anita!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Anita's house is perfectly located in the center of town, within easy walking distance of groceries, restaurants and trail heads. The facilities are very good. And, to top it off, Anita and Leo are two of the best hosts that I've ever met while traveling.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Sweet little house. Family atmosphere. Thanks to Anita that we don’t need to visit info center to finish all our trekking. Kitchen facilities are complete for preparing a fast hot meal.
Cons: Maybe add more racks in the bathroom for hanging towels and clothes.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very substantial. Location was great. B and B was cozy. Room had a great view.
Cons: Room number 1 is right next to reception and so was noisy almost all the time, when people came down for breakfast at 6:15am, when people were in the breakfast area for tea between 4 and 7pm and when people came in late in the evening.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved this place! An excellent view of Fitz Roy and great location. Very friendly staff who helped us plan our day, look at the weather, find good places to eat and call a taxi.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: We stayed in a private room with shared bathroom and both were extremely clean all the time! Breakfast was simple but there were enough options of what to eat and everything was good and tasty. Staff was kind and helpful. The place is cute and very well located.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: El Chalten is beautiful. This place is clean with a very helpful staff. We had a great time!
7.1 Good
Pros: Clean, relatively new, good windows and construction.
Cons: We had two rooms. First one bed was very small for a couple (room 6). Second (room 9) was better. Showers are very tight boxes (I’m 6’3”).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location and comfort.
Destino Sur - El Chaltén - Building

10.0 Excellent
Cons: Bed and pillows weren’t as comfortable as I would have liked for the price we paid. The WiFi was very slow. And the restaurant had a limited menu that additionally was out of menu items.
6.3 Good
Pros: It is actually a nice hotel, but service and attention to client could improve. At the day of arrival we did not have any water in the the bathroom until 10pm. We were told several times and the whole day that it was because of the temporary power shortage and that we should be patient and use the toilet in the lobby. In the evening I had then to learn from other guests that they did not have any issues the whole day, means it was a problem of our room only. I had then to insist quite seriously until somebody came up to the room and fixed the problem ..in one minute..! Being in a remote location I can accept issues but not that the staff lies at me and is too lazy to fix a problem.
10.0 Excellent

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent personnel at reception. One of the best I have seen. Rooms very nice and clean. Excellent beds.

7.9 Good
Pros: Clean room, good size, comfy bed
Cons: I asked for a cup of tea one day after hiking as I had a heavy cold to come to checkout and realise I had been charged for it. Just a cup of tea but still when you are paying £150 a night you would think you could have a tea included in your stay surely!? Even a hostel would offer a free tea... Hot water ran out in the shower. Last thing I expected or wanted after a long day out hiking (also for paying £150 a night...disappointing) Other people raved about the breakfast, it was good but very much an average breakfast for Argentina. Options for eggs and then other normal things like toast, 1 type of cereal. Don’t get too excited. Overall good stay but those things bugged me!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were incredibly helpful and went out of their way to make our stay really comfortable. The rooms were spacious and the cleanliness was also very good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Close to the hiking trails and restaurants
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The very clean room was perfect size for the two of us with a very comfortable bed. The service at the check in counter was friendly and each hostess accommodated our limited Spanish-speaking abilities. The breakfast options were appropriate for beginning a long day of hiking. I would definitely stay at El Puma again.
Cons: We had about 10 minutes of hot water in a 3 days stay; and that was on our first night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in the newly opened rooms at the property. We were the first guests there! One of the best accommodations we have ever stayed in. Great interior design and furniture. Felt very much at home there - very clean, huge bed, nice bathroom. The fire place at the main reception was also very cosy to chill at. Surprisingly very good wifi in both the reception and the room! Special mention to Alicia who was very friendly and helpful during our stay
Cons: Everything was perfect
7.0 Good
Pros: Loved the bed, breakfast very nice, good mountain views, free candy on the room
Cons: Really bad wi-fi. Wanted to take a bath but hot water finished before I had hardly started filling it up, so had to take a cold shower instead.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Liked the location, the vibe, cleanliness, staff, breakfast was hot and delicious.
Cons: Little noisy, with windows open
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic team, supportive throughout. Spacious room and breakfast with best bacon&egg for a long time
Cons: Do not remember anything in particular. No A/C, but not necessary in Southern Patagonia anyway
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful rooms and space, good breakfast, central, great staff, nice attention to detail
Cons: na

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice place. Great time. Clean property well managed and with great staff in the front desk and breakfast and restaurant.
Cons: Minor maintenance and repair while we were there but no issues. Liked it and would return.
4.6 Okay
Pros: Location (except for the noise when I had to sleep with the balcony door open because of the heat); rooms are comfortable (except that there is an issue with the heat); most staff is nice and friendly (except Miriam at the restaurant). Good boxed lunch for the hikes.
Cons: My room was EXTREMELY hot for three days in a row, and they were not able to fix it during my stay. I had to sleep with the balcony door open, which meant having a bright street light shining on my face all night and a lot of street noise, including drunk people shouting on the street at 2 AM. The last morning I was going to be picked up at 7 AM, so I went to the breakfast room at 6:20. The breakfast spread was ready, but I was not allowed to even touch the coffee until 6:30, after three sleepless nights in a row. Two out of the three staff at the restaurant were very nice, but they only got there after 6:30, so I was at the mercy of Miriam, who acted as if she was the police guarding the coffee before 6:30. The staff at the front desk was friendly in general, but the woman in the morning to whom I reported the heat issue said that all she could do is pass on the message...this was obviously not enough. It is a pity, because the place has potential, but if you cannot sleep because the room is like a sauna, and cannot have coffee when you need it, I don’t think I can recommend it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, modern, helpful staff, great location
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is perfect. Walking distance to everything you need. Easy walk to the start of the trails. Many bars and restaurants close by. The breakfast was very good. Big rooms

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The eco domes are amazing, didn't want to leave!! My partner and I stayed here for two nights as a special treat after staying in budget hotels and campsites. We had a hire car so the remote location down a dirt track was not an issue for us though I believe they do offer a shuttle bus service. The domes are beautiful, the beds are so comfortable, and the rooms full of character. The mountain views from the domes are stunning, just like you expect from the photos. A member of staff would come round and light the log fires late afternoon so you could come back to a warm room. The lobby and dining room domes are also lovely and comfortable. We ate at the restaurant both nights as we couldn't resist - the food is of the highest quality, cooked excellently, and is good value. I think it was $25 per person for a 3 course meal including a tea or coffee. The sirloin steak we had the first night was divine. Breakfast is also excellent. Staff speak fluent English, and very friendly and couldn't do enough to help. There is no wifi or phone signal here and so we spent our evenings talking to other guests, eating wonderful food and reading by our log fire in our lovely dome. 10/10 cannot recommend enough!
Cons: The bathroom was cold but that's all part of the domes being heated by log fire only
7.0 Good
Pros: The domes are nice and cosy when the fire is lit. The staff was very kind and helpful. It was a wonderful experience for us sleeping in a dome for the first time.
Cons: Well, as said in other references before, it is definitely a nice experience sleeping in the domes, but all in all I think not worth the price asked for. Dinner is good and served well, but nothing that special. The lunch pack was sufficient in quantity but kind of made without much dedication, the sandwiches dry and made without any creativity. If it's cold outside be prepared to get up two to three times in the night to keep the fire burning, wasn't that romantic as I expected.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: It is a unique experience - sleeping under the sky, Fitz roy and crazy patagonian winds. Rabbits and kittens making this place a wonderland. Desing is just like you imagined it when you were a little kid in a wonder forest. Reception staff are amazing and very helpful guys, thank you!
Cons: The price i too high because you have a poor breakfast, expensive launch boxex. Nights are freezy - the fire stop while younare already aspleep, no wife or internet available.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Pretty much everything! Breathtaking view of the Fitz Roy and the surrounding landscape, cozy and clean room, comfy bed, an actual wood fire place in the room that either the staff or you could start a fire every night (they provided the firewood), delicious food. Such an awesome and unique experience, wish we could have stayed for a week! If you love to camp but also like being comfortable, the domes are perfect. You have the feeling of being in nature but are completely protected from the elements. Flora, Violetta, and Santiago were so kind and awesome! The eco domes are very remote. There isn’t cell service or WiFi here—which wasn’t important to us, you can go into El Chalten to find WiFi at any restaurant. You also do need some kind of transportation to and from the eco domes but there is a free shuttle that can be arranged by the staff at certain times and we had a fairly easy time getting a taxi in El Chalten to take us back to the eco domes. There is also a shorter trail to get to Laguna de Los Tres right on the property—makes the hike a little bit shorter and easier than starting all the way in El Chalten. I don’t have one bad thing to say about this place, it was one of the highlights of our trip!
Cons: Nothing we didn’t like!
4.2 Okay
Pros: - The view is nice - The food served during the dinner is nice and well cooked
Cons: - The wind is so strong, it feels like the tent might just brake and fly off any time, especially because they need some proper renovation and air comes through the many holes - The noise of the wind against the tent makes it impossible to sleep, as a result we spent two sleepless nights. Unless you are prepared to come with earplugs etc etc, just don’t come sleep here. - The room gets cold, and you have to get up every hour (yes during the night !!!) to add wood in the tiny fireplace. The fireplace is not big enough to warm up the room as a result it’s just a pain - Found a scorpion on the tend. Yes a scorpion. Plus many spiders - While the view is nice, everything else is very basic. All in all we were left disappointed and left one day earlier than expected. For USD 350 a night, a better manteinance of the tent is expected as well as some accessories in case people don’t come prepared (earplugs, small electric heaters in the room etc). The price is extremely expensive for what you get. If you are looking for a Glamping type of experience looks elsewhere.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The location and the cosy domes with the wood burning stoves was superb. Best of all was the yummy gluten free pack up for lunch while out walking to Laguna tres lagos from the dome! Breakfast and dinner was also exceptional. Catering well for gluten free diets in such a remote location is impressive.
