This hotel was very clean and the staff was so friendly. We had a problem with our cable, and the maintenance man was extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel is so Close to the beach, and has a great pool. recommend this hotel!
Location was great, the view was awesome. Very friendlly employees, loved the Tiki bar on the sea wall. Cost was abit to much to pay. But overall it was a great experience for me and my husband.
On the beach and swim up pool bar I called the front desk to have someone come fix some issues in room and no one ever showed up to our room
The location is great proximity to the beach. There was a big, clean, beautiful pool with a swim up bar. They have happy hour so it's reasonably priced. The hotel has buffet breakfast for @ $12/person. The room was clean, with a balcony with views of the ocean & overlooking the pool. Every room here faces the ocean so there is no bad view. I will go back to this hotel!
Love how all the hotel guests were happy and that restaurant was near Room was extremely too small. Room was too far in the back
Too much noisy around our room, family's really loud at night time could not rest well.
Easy check in! Right by the beach! Easy access to the beach! Room very comfortable and luxurious! Would stay again! While asleep rolled over in the bed and was stuck by pen of a name tag that happened to be in the bed of an employee that was open.
It was my birthday weekend. We made last minute plans to come in and we had an amazing time. The staff is awesome
Pool Mold mold mold. I was there for a relaxing weekend and the amount of black mold in the bathroom on the ceiling and above the door was shameful. That doesn't happen overnight and that was the excuse I was given and most definitely not work the $600 for two nights. Hilton wouldn't even help rebate and portion because I payed through kayak and not them.
It was very clean and quiet. Nice addition was the transportation to the cruise terminal
The service was great! Pool bar Lina Colodas by far the best on the island! Perfect location! Only thing we wished were better were the pool hours! After dinner on the island it would have been nice to come back to the hot tub for some drinks!
We have 2 young children and one of them is in a wheelchair so at the last minute we decided to go on a 3 day getaway . The staff was extremely helpful and the hotel layout made it very easy for us to maneuver around with a wheelchair and various bags for the pool or beach. The pool was had a lazy river and at night you can see the volcano from the Rainforest Cafe. We even took a bike ride to Pleasure Pier. Great getaway for the family but the wife and I can see how this could easily be an adult vacation for our likes. Thanks Hilton The balcony view was amazing with the beach and the working volcano. I never approached the staff about this but I was wondering if they could provide some sort of protection on the balconies. My 1 1/2 yr could almost fit through the balcony bars and I understand that this is the job of the parent but it would of been amazing if she cold watch through the bars with out me having a death grip on her lol. Like I said I never approached the staff so they may have a solution.
Check in was a breeze thanks to the friendly front desk staff. We then went up to our room and I couldn't believe how spacious and clean the room was. Beds were comfortable and bath towels were nice and oversized! Mini fridge and coffee maker were a plus too. Headed down to check out the pool, which was beautiful! Plenty of lounge chairs and beach towels were provided. A swim up bar offered drinks and a good menu. Every staff member we encountered was so friendly and more than accommodating. Our 5 year old son uses a wheelchair and everyone was so sweet to him. We were only there one night, but we will definitely be back! I've already told several friends and family about how great the Hilton was! Thanks for everything!
Within walking distance of beaches, restaurants, and any type of eating establishment you would want. For the price of the room, I think breakfast included would have been a nice amenity instead of $16 a person. I went down the street and had a full breakfast for $7.
The staff is so friendly, I've never stayed at a more friendly hotel. Every single person working there greeted me with a big smile and " hello, how are you? Hope you have a wonderful day/ evening." Even the house keepers greeted me in the same way. Everyone seemed to love their jobs and are happy to serve. I will definately stay here again. Brenda
Worst bed I've ever slept in.
The location is excellent for night life, restaurants and boutiques. It's very convenient if you're departing or arriving from a cruise. The historic aspect is impressive. We had an inner room facing the courtyard and the noise from the bar area earlier in the evening was a bit distracting. The jazz band was enjoyable, but we were tired and just unwinding from a long day. The low flow toilet was also a drawback.

The room was listed as 900 square feet and was definetely not.
Gorgeous hotel with scenic views. Friendly employees , especially the valet staff.

The concierge made our stay very special. She set the tone for our amazing experience. The restaurant was great too!!! No
The mattress and pillows. One of the best nights sleep I have ever got at a hotel. The city view room was not as classy as I imagined for a hotel of that statue.
I liked everything about this hotel. Otherwise, Just the little things described below. I didn't like the fact that my room did not have a the small fridge or microwave a usual hotel would have.
It has gated parking next to the hotel. The rooms were clean and it was well kept. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. There was no charge for parking. The rooms were smaller than normal.
Easy check in and out. Pool & outdoor area good. Very comfortable bedding. Most staff including front desk and room valets very helpful and friendly. The only surprise was the car valets when we arrived were abrupt and on the verge of rude.
Location, and cleanliness!! Wonderful pool and hot tub too!! Coffee in the room not good
Each and every member of the staff was amazing. Friendly, courteous...made us feel right at home. Not a thing! Everything about it met or exceeded all of our expectations!
Very nice clean hotel, the staff was very friendly and accomodating. We booked 2 rooms and one of the rooms was about half the size of the other for the same price as the larger room.
We have stayed at All the finer Hotels on Galveston Island. Moody Gardens is by far the Nicest, cleanest and updated Hotel on the island. We were in town meeting with a Real Estate agent and decided to give Moody Gardens a try since we had never stayed there. We were Pleasantly Surprised. This Hotel was Spotless and the staff was more than friendly and seemed Happy to be there. We couldn't stay longer. This Hotel is Not on the beach so that might be a drawback for some. It does however have the waterpark which is the bomb for kids.
The room decor and comfort was nice. What followed was distressing...... My purse was stolent in front of the reception desk. I spoke out openly in the lobby stating, " My purse was stolen help!" No one came to help. I went to the reception desk and said the same thing, described the purse to the receptionist at the checkin desk, and she asked me what i wanted her to do. Shocked, I went to the bell desk and repeated that my purse had been stolen asking if they'd seen anything. The woman at that desk didn't get up or so much as ask me a question. A friend and I apprehended the thief who'd stolen my purse and was awaiting her car in vallet. Yes she was a hotel guest. Mr. Davilla from Security arrived, took her license plate and said he'd call the police. He was the only one who stepped in to help us. My children were scared watching this all unfold. Especially my little boy who tried to help me spot the person who took my purse as I didn't get any assistance from Hotel personal for several minutes. We were left to our own defenses.
Air went out the 1st night and didn't have hot water the next morning. Room issues and inflated prices
The room was immaculate, fresh and updated. The lobby, cafe and upstairs lounge were also comfortable and well furnished. The grounds were beautifully manicured. We were able to come and go to the convention center without having to go outside. The tour through the Rain Forest was intriguing. Thank you for the efficient shuttle service. I wish we could have stayed longer. The time it took to check-in was longer than average. The cafe waitress at breakfast was unacceptably slow to attend. Thankfully a bus boy stopped at our table to ask if we'd been helped, then went to get someone to get us menus. Our meals arrived barely warm. We had to ask for water during the meal also. The cafe service did not match the luxury of the rest of our stay.
Cleanliness atmosphere the hospitality
let just say what's not to like, this place was a blast No microwave was the only thing
The location is by far the best thing this resort has going for it. You can walk across the street to the beach. If you're on a higher floor you will have a direct view of the ocean, which is awesome. The biggest downer was the air conditioning in the room. It worked poorly and leaked on the tile floor. Maintenance came twice to work on it and brought us a fan. Sleeping the first night was uncomfortable. The room was dated, in desperate need of a remodel. Bathroom was dingy with burned out lightbulb, nasty floor and silvering mirror.
Extremely high end resort at a price the most people can afford.
The Bistro staff took care of my wife as she had to wait until 4 to check in. We have been to the resort in the past, and will return but ( and no offense to Kayak/Priceline) we'll have to book direct with the San Luis if we want the service to be "right" 1. Check in was unpleasant, I felt second rate since we didn't book thru the hotel. We were reminded of this several time.."if you would have booked thru us..." 2. We couldn't check in until 4 pm, even thought the place was very much unoccupied (you can tell, the parking lots were very free) 3. The Steakhouse was expensive, and the steak was the chewiest thing I've ever had. The service was REALLY slow.
Beautiful view and very comfortable room in general. We happened to get a room with no hair dryer, but I'm sure they will take care of that.
The pool He air condition was super loud and could not sleep. There were roaches in our room.
Rooms were great! Clean, even by our high standards. Food in the hotel was great, especially the breakfast. No need to leave the resort. Staff were nice as expected on this level of hotel. Love the Christmas decorations! Room service charging $4 per bottle of water is absurd. I understand a need for profit but since one bottle is less than 10 cents at any local store (when bought in a bundle) this seems just plain wrong. Valet should be included in the room charge especially when your guest is on crutches, although I never asked, it would have been nice for them to waive that charge.
The resort was great , but I wished they had informed people on their website the pool was closed. That was the main reason we chose that hotel. The staff was great and we were shuttled to he Hilton next door to swim. Rooms comfortable as well.
I like how everything was close by and loved how they were able to quickly change my room The long wait to talk to someone at the front desk every time.
The view, staff were very friendly No makeup mirror in bathroom, additional counter space in bathroom. Very nice but expensive.
The pool is great . The Itialian restaurant was a huge hit with our son saiid the pizza was amazing.
Loved the pool area and food! Very concerned with the overall safety of the hotel. During our stay, someone was able to gain access to our hotel room at 5:30am in the morning. We caught the individual off guard by waking up, and immediately called the hotel staff. After calling twice, our call was finally answered and we received a vague response. We inquired around the issue upon check-out, but received no information. The hotel was lovely, but I do not know if I can recommend the San Luis after this disregard for client's safety.
Overall this was a very nice hotel. We stayed on the 16th floor which is considered their VIP floor. It was nicer then the others. Party of the resort is made up of condos which makes the hotel appear bigger then it is. The food at the bistro was amazing. HUGE portions! The room service was ok. Not the most friendly staff. The pool was really nice, heated and lit. Great swim up bar. The staff at the front desk were not the friendliest. Very short and easily irritated. There is a resort tax/fee on almost every purchase. Also the snacks that they mention on the VIP levels are merely bottled water and candy. The breakfast is muffins and coffee. Not really a balance for the buck.
Absolutely gross. Didn't like anything about it. Old, smelted, homeless people in the parking lot. It was absolutely disgusting.
Location was great. Minutes from the beach. Quiet place. Bed was uncomfortable bathroom was small and awkward to use. Lobby smelled old and needed a little updated.
The rooms were very clean, staff was very helpful and friendly. I enjoyed the breakfast. There was a shuttle that took us and brought us back from the cruise port, and they allowed us to park our car for the week we were on our cruise, which saved us a lot of money. Loved the mini golf course which was free to the guest. I would stay here again.
Waterfront rooms and pool. Plenty of activities for kids. No Continental breakfast
Staff was excellent. Location was excellent. Room was very nice and clean. Wind noise coming through window and door.
The internet problem was explained why it kept disconnecting Internet could only handle 2 devices at a time. Pool was cold. There was a cold front and they didn't turn on the heater.
The staff was friendly. Our room was clean and very comfortable. We have stayed at this hotel before when we took a cruise this is why we booked again. The hotel was full so we booked through a third party. When we arrived we were told because we booked third party we could only have a room on the first or second floor. we were a little upset that we would not have a view of the ocean but all in all our stay was very nice.
Double billing issue that I will now have to resolve will never use this website again .. Second time I've had an issue of this sort vCant believe you idiots can't figure a way ...he'll never mind y'all don't care
Great location, computers with printer available, nice pool, great club attached, friendly staff. The ice machine on our floor did not work. We had to take the elevator to another floor and trying to get an elevator took forever.
Clean, great staff, great location. Promised room on floors 4-6, but was assigned room on 1st floor. My wife and daughters traveling alone and did not feel safe on 1st floor right by back entrance near pool.
Very nice room. Comfortable bed!
Room and clean, quiet, and WAY bigger than I expected. The only small thing is that it's hard to get into and out of the hotel parking lot due to traffic and the way the streets are arranged. Not the hotels fault, bust something to be aware of.
Mosquitos everywhere in the room every time you open the door they would come in!!!
Clean, affordable, good service, I will stay there again. No comment
Wonderful location right on the seawall. Great breakfast, friendly staff, comfy pillows and beds. If I'm being completely honest the only thing I didn't like were the showers.
Close to the beach The cleanliness of the restroom was very poor. It had urine smell when we walked in to the restroom. when we called housekeeping they did come in and clean it. But the smell still lingered.
Access to beach. Cleaning staff monoplized the elevator. Guests had to climb stairs to 3rd. floor.
Clean, comfortable and polite staff
Easy access to the cruise facilities at Galveston, TX. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Available choices for dining in the neighborhood are limited.
Front desk staff nice and room was odor free and clean.
Large room No table and chairs
Very good value for the money. Carpet needs cleaning.
My wife left her credit card at the front desk after checking in. We did not know that it was left there, after we were in our room for 5 or 10 min. someone brought her card to our room. This could have been a big blow to our lives, but they saved the day. I is a little hard to find the drive way cause it is in the back.
This wasn't the fanciest of hotels but it was clean and a great value!! We only showered and slept in the room so we weren't looking for fancy. It was perfect for our on the go mentality.
it was close to the coast we booked a king smoking room on line when we got there we were informed that they did not offer the room we booked.
I really enjoyed my stay here. The room was so much larger than i expected, especially for the price. It was clean, well kept, staff was friendly, and I was so close to the beach. I liked everything, really. No complaints here! :)
Only one guy was helpful in dealing with the room above us stomping on the floors and making tons of noise Huge cockroaches, room service takes accommodations when not empty or used, and does not replace. Also found old coffee in pot, room was overall dirty. Staff can barely speak English, or has a bad attitude, lots of noise through walls and ceiling. Will never book with super 8 again.
The staff was excellent and helpful. Thanks to Katie and Beth. I accidentally left something in the room and they called and were helpful
Breakfast was okay We ask for non smoker room and we got a room that smelled like cigarette checking staff rude, Morning staff so much nicer
This hotel is currently under renovations and we found the hallways a mess. That would haven't been manageable, but the room we stayed in had old mattresses covered in mold and what looked like evidence of bed bugs. Needless to say we didn't stay. The pool is also under construction. I hope for the hotel's sake it's finished quick and they iron out all the problems. Could be a nice hotel someday.
Convience to local attractions. First time there in Galveston . I love the area overall. The only thing I would say is parking was limited and had to squeeze around other cars in the tiny area. Room was very small for the price. We had to share swimming pool facilities with other hotel next door and not enough towels in the bath room
Value and ocean view. The staff was very nice. Nothing was wrong
There was nothing good about this hotel. This is not a beach view hotel. I had a better view of the cemetary. When I asked to change to a higher room I was told no. This hotel should be a 1 star. The rooms were very run down.
Very clean hotel in a convenient location...the staff was extremely nice and the breakfast was excellent. It's an older building but well kept and quite popular.
Balcony was great. Rooms were spacious and clean. Parking was limited close to hotel. Had to park in a parking lot that was shared with another hotel.
Had cruise parking available plus shuttle Room was dingy. The room was way overpriced for what it looked like, it's comfort and amenities.
Very nice hotel. Bed comfy Bug problem in hallways and in room. The hotel is very nice but bug issues made it difficult. All in our stuff and water bugs in the hallways. Mud in entrance for 2 days.
Great staff at all times of the day. Ocean view. Good location, within walking distance of a beach.
Clean room, friendly staff and good breakfast.
I liked that the hotel was not located on the busiest part of Seawall Blvd. The beach was not good for swimming directly across from the hotel, but there were great spots a short walk or drive away.
It is removed from the hype, but close enough to enjoy those amenities and return to a quiet, peaceful location. Also, the staff really cared and did everything to meet your needs. The pool was closed, so they let us stay late the next morning. Although each room has a balcony, they are located on the side (unless you invest in a front row room). You have a limited view of the gulf. Also the wall around the parking impedes the view. I was hiding out, so I liked these features.
This guest did not leave comments about this hotel.
The location Not getting our room cleaned before we returned in the evening.

history of building granite, etc room had issue right next to housekeeping so door was opening closing constantly loud talking in the hallway both starting after check in and in morning
location could use a makeover
Very friendly and clean
It was a very comfortable setting. Love the bathroom. Even though the view was not the best the patio was very nice size. The price for 1 night was a little ridiculous. I would stay here again but at a cheaper rate than what I paid.
We loved everything, the staff, the rooms, they were so clean n comfortable. We went for our 23rd anniversary, and they remember I mentioned it when I called to confirm our stay. They upgraded our room at no extra cost, they were so helpful in everything.
Very clean, very spacious rooms. Slept like a baby on the comfortable bed. love the design and furniture selection. Have to pay for parking.
We had a wonderful experience .... From the waterfront location, to being able to watch cruise ships come and go....walking to the Ocean Star museum....walking to the Strand...it all was wonderful!
Beds & spacious No pool
Beds were very comfortable and rooms were spacious for my wife, toddler, and myself. Continental breakfast was standard fair: breads, jams, juice. Hotel was very clean and we had a comfortable stay. The front office staff needs an attitude check. Several were not helpful in answering any questions about early check-in.
Staff, accomodations, there was nothing I didn't like. It was all perfect.
I loved the very stylish rooms and breakfast bar.
Front desk staff was very pleasant and helpful. Room was very clean and cozy. Great location for visiting the strand. We weren't going on a cruise but this would be the perfect pre/post cruise hotel. Breakfast was less than desireable. Over the phone, staff seemed less than Interested in helping out and answering questions
Oh what a wonderful experience, I generally stay on the beach but this time we stayed near the harbor. Enjoyed all of the Laundry owned restaurants, along with late afternoon shopping on the historic Strand. I will definitely make this a traditional trip and stop.
The room was nice and big as well as the bathroom. It is an excellent location for catching your cruise ship. There are plenty of restaurants attached or just a short walk away.
I loved the feel of the hotel, it was sophisticated and modern yet nautical at the same time. We were impressed with how large the room was! The bed was super comfy as well. We really enjoyed our time here. There was no microwave anywhere, even in the kitchen for breakfast. It was a cold breakfast so the least we should have been able to do was warm up a pastry. There was also no refrigerator in the room to save leftovers. The light in the hallway next to the door kept fading on and off throughout the night and we couldn't get it to stop. Instructions for when this happens would be great. Lastly, there was a parking fee that was completely unnecessary... It's not in the middle of downtown at a shared garage or anything where parking is scarce and even the restaurants can't park there...
I loved the decor The front desk agent wasn't friendly and seemed not to want to provide us with info about the hotel.
Location Room had so much moisture in the air it was hard to breath. The cleaning ladies stood outside my door at 8am talking/gossiping so loud it woke us up, due to the very thin walls. The TV only has 10 channels, no microwave, no fridge.
Our TV didn't work correctly. We put on Pandora and talked for hours. We've been married for 22 yrs and this was an amazing stay Mardi gras parade was right in front and able to view from balcony.
Location was great, right across from the Gulf, balcony with a water view in every room. Attached to a mediocre breakfast spot that does room service on request. Pool area facing Gulf / Seawall Blvd with a delightfully tacky tile fountain pouring into the heavily chlorinated pool. Cute in the way that old 60's and 70's motor hotels can be provided you don't expect the Four Seasons for your $80/night. You get what you pay for. I was happy. Staff was not especially polite or accommodating. Room A/C was set to arctic upon arrival. Cleaning staff had my dates incorrect and woke me up as if I was being raided by the police, then acted as if I were the one that had made a mistake. Entire operation a bit dilapidated. Basic customer service absent, but I arrived late - perhaps the day shift is more personable.
Loved the pool and location! And the cookies! The room didn't have a fridge and air conditioner didn't get as cold as I would have preferred.
