Pros: From the moment we were picked up at odawara station we were treated with complete respect. we loved our stay and look forward to one day returning to this beautiful part of Japan! the staff were so kind and thoughtful. we felt totally comfortable and relaxed during our stay.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel, nice rooms, view on the lake and fuji from the park. Onsen is supergreat ! And very nice staff
Cons: we had rented a car at Odawara station and therefore had a great time there, with freedom to go : else, I'm afraid you depend on the shuttle and the hotel is quite isolated. We didn't go to the restaurants of the hotel which are expensive... The rental of a car is absolutely worth it and recommanded !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean, large room.
Cons: The window was not fronted to the lake.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Extremely helpful & friendly staff. Beautiful facilities and location! Great view of Mount Fuji. We’ll be back.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Onsen, Japanese room and traditional food
9.0 Excellent
Pros: All staff very friendly and helpful. We had breakfast and dinner and it was 5 star superb quality Japanese. Multiple little courses but very plentiful - note that is all Japanese not Western. Highly recommend eating in as there is not a lot of choice around. Rooms are tatami sleeping in spacious standard room. Public onsen was great, inside and outside pools. Good lobby sitting areas, table tennis and English language newspapers. Very enjoyable and bus stop out the front.
Cons: There was no option for White or red wine with dinner - but thats just me. Beer and sake and non- alcoholic options were there.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely amazing and helpful staff. The place is really traditional and the Onsen is fantastic. The also serve traditional japanes dinner and breakfast which was also incredible. If we come to Hakone again in the future, this is the place we wanna stay at.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Traditional Japanese Ryokan style place with both public and private Onsen, the cost of the private Onsen was really reasonable. Staff were super friendly and explained everything as we went, from eating etiquette, how the rooms were set up, use of Onsen etc. I wanted to get out for a run at 6:30am before breakfast and they made sure someone was on hand to have the door open for me as the doors are normally unlocked at 7am. Rooms were clean and comfortable, even the traditional Japanese futon beds were really comfy. We paid to eat both dinner and breakfast at the property and they do cater for vegetarians and vegans, the food was absolutely amazing and so much of it too. Location is great too - just out of the way of all the tourists, surrounded by lovely mountains, there’s 2 museums you can visit within walking distance or take a stroll to Sengokuhara Susuki Grass Fields which are a mile away, Kintoke Shrine is also walking distance away and you can take a little hike up along the mountain path past the shrine. 2 bus services run from the hotel to Togendai or to Hakone-Yumoto Station right from outside the property so it’s really convenient to get to.
Cons: Nothing
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Felt like a classic Japanese inn, very authentic, great location and service.
Cons: Nothing.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Meals are tasty, Onsen is clean and comfortable
Cons: N/A
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Dinner and breakfast tasted amazing and they were healthy too.
Cons: Woke up with a bit of a sore neck but that's probably because I'm not used to flat pillows. 15 minutes in the Onsen remedied that issue.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing modern hotel. Great location right next to the lake, cable car and pirate ship. Picked up from Odawara station by the shuttle with no issues. Amazing breakfast and dinner buffets. We ended up upgrading to the room with lake view, tatami area and private spa. The private spa is lovely and big enough for two people. The room is clean and warm with good airconditioning. Beds were comfortable. Modern bathroom. Had good selection of yakuta's to choose from for males and females.
Cons: quite expensive

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location, right next to the train and bus stations. The onsen and amenities provided were great.
Cons: Restaurants in the hotel close early and are pricey.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Nothing!
Cons: Cigarette stink in the room(english) Fedor de cigarro no quarto(portuguese) Não foi observado o pedido de quarto não fumante. We received a smoking room, instead of our request, for non smoking room. The smell of smoke was everywhere, in corridors, lounges, room. It was awful. Old carpets and furniture.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is well located, very close to the Hankone-Yomoto Station. It is convenient to get here and tour around the national park. The staff are all helpful and provide outstanding services. In particular, I really enjoy the amazing indoor and outdoor public baths here. The breakfast and dinner are both beyond my expectations. I would highly recommend this hotel for future stay in Hankone.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very conveniently located near Hakone-Yumoto station (approx 5 min). The staff were also very attentive. English is still not good but their attention to safety and comfort make up for it.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Not much
Cons: Receptionist - When we arrived we were told that despite having booked two twin rooms - they were only for one person, despite having booked for four people. Wanted another 10000 yen !!! When pointed out they had rooms still on internet for two people for same price, rude receptionist said he would do for special price. No you were doing for same price and trying to fool us! Should have gone elsewhere in hindsight. Overpriced for what it was, and this at a time when hotels reducing their prices. Despite it being 2.30pm by this time, and every Japanese tourist was checking in and going to rooms, we were told that check in was 3pm and we couldn’t have our rooms. Luggage had to be left and we went to look at area ours was only luggage when we left it and only luggage when we got back!! Restaurants in hotel overpriced and restaurants in area closed really early, very disappointing.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: They have a kids play room! Family onsen available for 1000 yen Room was spacious
Cons: Breakfast was not cheap Dining options not great for babies
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was our second stay in the hotel as it is so convenient, right beside the Hakone train station so no lugging cases and backpacks up the mountain on the bus. The bed was super comfy and room larger than we expected. The buffet breaky was good diverse mix of east and Japanese foods. The Onsen was great, we booked a private room and it was perfect. It’s a classic well cared for hotel on the hill, loved it.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: The only thing I liked is the fact that it is in front of the train station.
Cons: It was really old, dirty, smelly and the staff doesn’t speak English at all. There was no way to communicate with them. My covers were very dirty and smelly. Worst hotel I stayed in Japan. Don’t stay there.

This ryokan has facilities measuring 5199 square feet (483 square meters), including conference space. Free valet parking is available onsite.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: There are a few traditional Japanese styles hot spring pools which are very awesome and even better is not crowed at all. The dinner buffet has a big variety of foods.
Cons: The Japanese style room is smaller than I expected and also the outdoor hot spring pools are located in another building, customers have to walk thru the car park to the outdoor hot spring pools.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved hotel okada, the room was spacious and had a traditional Japanese feel. The onsen was fabulous and wearing your robe around the resort felt very relaxing.
6.3 Good
Pros: The onsens. Buffet (western and Japanese) was good.
Cons: It was all just a bit tired. Expect better when paying so much. Breakfast hours could be longer/later - it finishes at 9am.

7.5 Good
Pros: Nice garden and helpful staffs. When the sky is clear, you can see Mount Fuji. We were lucky to have beautiful weather upon arrival, and the view was magnificent!!!
Cons: The dinner at the Japanese restaurant was so so. Breakfast was okay. While I reading in bed, two tiny bugs from nowhere dropped on my blanket. So after I removed them, I had to turn off light and slept earlier.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: For breakfast you have the option if two restaurants, French and Japanese. Both restaurants are very good and have an amazing serving staff. Dinner is also had at these two restaurants based on a set menu of quite a few artistic dishes. The location of the hotel is amazing and has a great secluded view of the lake, the mountains, and Mount Fuji. The property also has beautiful gardens and is a walking distance from the Hakone Shrine. The hotel has regular shuttles 3 times an hour until 1700 to and from Motohakoneko. The onsen is nice and quite, with the outside portion facing the mountains. When it rains the outside onsen is a very nice experience. Go to the onsen during the day and the night for different experiences.
Cons: Nothing
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Exceptionally large rooms, superb onsen facility inside the building, gorgeous views of Lake Ashi and live evening piano bar
Cons: The cocktails and drinks were incredibly strong...lady might benefit from quick training.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Special historical hotel next to the Lake Ashinoko. Close to the Hakone Shrine, hiking trails and Hakone Sightseeing Cruise to ropeway. You can see a magnificent view of Mt Fuji on a clear day from the garden. Obviously, the garden is much prettier when it blooms but you are in a beautiful forest area with manicured gardens. Only a short bus trip away to special museums. There is a nice little gift shop at the venue with Hakone goods. Shuttle Bus takes you to the Hakone Sightseeing Cruise wharf area and bus station so it is very convenient. With amazing views of the area. I felt like I had stepped back in time at this hotel to last century and seen the Japanese Western themed resort holiday experience. The hotel had lovely old Christmas decorations as well. It was very much old forest hotel lodge with a Japanese aesthetic.
Cons: The food is Japanese style western food or traditional Japanese Food. It was interesting to try but a little more variety would be helpful with children. The local bus takes some time to get to the main train station but the winding, hill bus ride was quite amusing. Bring your Suica card or Hakone Pass as the bus coin system is difficult for multiple tickets.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel de Yama is very good located, directly by lake Ashi, and near by famours"Hakone Shrine", walk way about 8 min. Very friendly staffes, elegante decorations. The hot-spring is just wonderful, I'v enjoyed the forest view while bath. We had a room with lake view, it was fantastic. Next time we will still choose Hotel de Yama.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Large room. Good breakfast. Excellent Japanese restaurant. Good French restaurant, but pricey at $100 for just food. Great High Tea. Onsen relaxing. Shuttle to town.
Cons: Mattress could be better.
Hotel Green Plaza Hakone - Hakone - Building
8
8.4 Excellent (3,410 reviews)
Overview Reviews
When you stay at Hotel Green Plaza Hakone in Hakone, you'll be in a national park, within a 5-minute drive of Ōwakudani and Lake Ashi. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, luggage storage, and an elevator. A train station pick-up service is provided at no charge, and free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We only spent one night here as a treat, and it lived up to what we expected and more! We had two rooms with private terrace Olsen and it was amazing. We dressed up in their provided costume for dinner, dinner was amazing, something for everyone and more. The grounds were great, the staff great and we were luck to have a good view of Mt Fuji! Well worth treating one's self :-D
Cons: It is the same for all the hotels we stayed at in Japan (4 in total) but we expected better at this one, THE BATHROOMS are tiny!! At least this hotel had another sink outside the bathroom but inside, you can only just turn around.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast and dinner was buffet style, but it was a fantastic buffet! The onsen is split up between men's and women's sections only. Also note that you must go in naked (so get over your shyness) and no tattoos allowed (but you can purchase items to cover them up).
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good up-to-date room with an excellent view, large selection at dinner and breakfast. Beautiful and relaxing outdoor onsen.
Cons: Would have preferred that the sink was in the ‘bathroom’ with the shower and toilet - having it next to the bed meant that it lacked privacy.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: It’s amazing. The entire experience for a western world family. Will totally recommend to any friends choosing to visit japan and the Hakone region!
Cons: We paid an extra adult amount for our 3 year old. Whilst I knew this was going to happen, I accepted it because we had no other option. A 3 year old would never eat the amount of an adult, and she used our bedding per our non paying 1yr old. I feel this amount was an excessive amount to pay for such a young child when other places in japan and Asia don’t even charge for a child under 6. Half the amount of an adult would be more than acceptable to cover good costs in my opinion, not 100% of an adult price. This is my only disappointment of our stay.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Room was lovely and private bath with Mount Fuji view was amazing
Cons: Expensive (but worth it)

8.4 Excellent (1,488 reviews)

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location and sized room , amazing view
Cons: Hotels in japan in general need bigger beds you can share with a child they r 2 small . Lucky we had a cot for our youngest child ! That was great
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location
6.7 Good
Pros: Location is good.
Cons: Onsen is small and not too much variety. Breakfast didn’t have much options.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The view would just stay with you forever and ever. The vastness of lake Ashi along with the peak of Fuji-san would just make you forget about everything else. The staff, the room, the hot spring and the souvenir shop are all full of goodness one cannot resist. I shall surely visit this place again someday.
Cons: It’s just too pricey is a general thing I didn’t like and apart from that the breakfast buffet was downgraded to an American breakfast because of Low occupancy but the price was not reduced which was a bummer. Apart from that nothing to dislike in this place.
7.0 Good
Pros: The property has a great view of Lake Ashi and it provided a sense of calm and serene both day and night, especially during the winter season as there were not many tourists. It's located right next to the piers for lake tour boat trips, thus very convenient.
Cons: The property is really old and didn't look attractive at all, its facilities and furniture were aged and dated, totally not worth its rate which was even higher than modern hotels in town.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: A luxurious hotel right by the side of Lake Ashi. It is near the bus terminal and you can get to it easily from Yumoto or Mishima. IT was convenient when I wanted to visit the Mishima Skywalk. Room was spacious, and the onsen was excellent, though more on the small side (there weren't so many people around anyway).
6.0 Good
Pros: The hotel is fine, but we were expecting more after reading so many positive reviews. The building is OK-ish but the garden at the lake side is beautiful. The room is OK and the bathroom is very small. The onsen is public, which was not a problem as it was not busy, but personally I prefer an option for a private onsen (will read the hotel description better next time).
Cons: We were told that we could only eat in the French restaurant and that the Japanese / Asian restaurant was already fully booked. In our observation, the hotel was not completely booked at all, so it is weird that only a small part of the guests can choose the local cuisine. We also were told that the restaurants around the hotel were open at lunch time only (Saturday evening). The French food was OK, but ridiculously expensive. We even had to pay extra for the bread (450 Yen for 3 small pieces). We cannot recommend this restaurant.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I stayed on an upper floor "lakeview" room and it certainly delivered. The room was large, comfortable, and came with a stunning view. I could not help but to leave the curtains open to I could wake up to the view of Ashinoko. The welcome drink was a nice touch, as well as provided Yukata so you could use the Onsen facilities.
Cons: Whilst the location is ideal, being right on the lake. It is a stiff 2km walk to the next town where you can find Konbini (Lawson and 7Eleven), so if you did what I did and left dinner a little late you will have to resort to the wonders of the Konbini menu, or spring for the hotel restaurant.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Large room, traditional style with traditional robe, great experience of traditional Japanese accommodation. Nice tatami mat, nice to watch the futon changing, room is even nicer than image online.
Cons: Small bathtub, hotspring too hot
7.1 Good
Pros: The Private Onsen was definitely the highlight of the trip, albeit a little pricey.
Cons: The place is about 10-13 minutes walk away from Hakone-Yumoto station and there are no restaurants nearby.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very helpful, rooms were very spacious and clean. Onsen place and breakfast was also excellent
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Not easy to get to via public transport
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Different options for using onsen: private and public. Japanese-style rooms are a bit old, but still very nice and spacious. Options for karaoke and table tennis. Breakfast buffet is delicious.
7.0 Good
Pros: This hotel has a beautiful, quiet setting, over looking the river. It is easily walkable from the train station, however with rolling luggage it was a bit of a challenge as the sidewalks were uneven. We did find out later there is a shuttle that runs between the hotel and the train station. The staff was very helpful and kind and overall we had a pleasant stay, though we were unsure what to expect from it. We stayed in a Japanese-style room. It was very large, but quite a bit different than I expected. I am going to do my best to explain the layout and amenities of the room. You enter into a small foyer. Directly in front of you is a small half-bath with a toilet and sink. To your left is a small hall with closets containing the futons to sleep on and a mini fridge. From there, there is a large main tatami room with a table and cushions. On the other side of the large tatami room is a small sitting area with a chair and windows looking out over the river. Connected to this room is a small vanity room with a sink which leads to the outdoor shower and onsen. The onsen is a wooden tub, big enough for one person, or two small people if crowded. Overall, we were impressed with the rooms size. However we were staying in February and it was too cold to comfortably shower outside. If I had known this was the set-up, I probably would not have booked. We booked one of the private onsens in the evening and I am grateful we did. The private onsens are much larger and include an indoor shower and a vanity area that contains all of the amenities. We used our hour to relax in the onsen and then shower again before returning to our room so we did not need to shower outside. I was very impressed by the amenities provided in the private onsen and its cleanliness. We were in the wood onsen, but there were other options including a stone one that looked really cool but was already booked out for that evening.
Cons: We also had the dinner the hotel provides. It was good. The best part of it is not having to decide where to eat. There is also a provided breakfast, but we were unable to try it due to their very limited hours. It only lasts for two hours, ending at either 9 or 9:30 and they stop accepting people several minutes prior to that. Honestly, we missed it because I failed to remember what time it ended and I just assumed it wouldn't be any earlier than 10, so it is my own fault. I just felt 2 hours was a small window for breakfast. Overall we enjoyed our stay. I would recommend for anyone looking to stay at a ryokan for a reasonable price or perhaps for a group of friends.

Located in Hakone (Gora), Tensui Saryo is within a 15-minute walk of Hakone Open Air Museum and Hakone Gora Park. Featured amenities include multilingual staff, luggage storage, and an elevator. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Bedrock, onsen, bar with footspa, Japanese style interior of the room, kimono given to the guests
Cons: Private open-air onsen that could be booked in advance had old furniture; the shower cabine in the room didn’t protect from water leak so that the floor was wet after taking a shower
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent private onsen in the room. Nice size room. Good kaiseki dinner
Cons: Price is just on the high side. But that’s most places like this in Japan.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great room with hot tub on the balcony with a view down a valley to the sea. The dinner and breakfast at the restaurant were outstanding.
Cons: Being given set meal times that they were reluctant to alter.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: From the brilliant service to the fantastic room, we loved everything about this hotel. Our room had a private onsen bath on our balcony, which we used every morning and night - the mountain views were incredible.

6.3 Good
Pros: The open-air Onsen and Kimonos were perfect and the best part of our stay. We were in the Onsen as much as possible.
Cons: It seemed clean but really tired looking. It really needs updating and fresh paint. The bedding (mats) they put out for us at night had a foul smell. We only had two time options for breakfast; 7:30 or 8:00 am. As soon as we left for breakfast, they were waiting at the door to take our beds away. There was definitely no option to sleep in a little! I thought it was quite expensive for a three star hotel.
7.0 Good
Pros: close to the train station
Cons: language barrier
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very near Hakone-Yumoto Station. Kind & helpful staff. Onsen was great. Dinner & breakfast meals prepared were delicious.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Totally worth the price. Fantastic hotel. lovely staffs. Location is perfect and food was amazing.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The traditional meals for breakfast and dinner.
Cons: -
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Super friendly staff. Next door to the station. Next door to an amazing Italian restaurant.
Cons: The nice onsen (the 'outdoor' onsen) is only opened for men between 10pm and 8am (the other times it is dedicated to women). Which means that, during most of the time, men can only use the 'indoor' onsen, which is really ugly (the women's indoor onsen is much better as it is also partially outdoor). Very expensive for what you get. Not worth the money when compared to what you get for much less elsewhere in Japan.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: - Great location near train station/bus stops - Excellent service on arrival, at dinner, after dinner, at breakfast and at check-out! We are not used to being fussed over and felt like VIPs - We stayed in a traditional Japanese room with dinner/breakfast package. Definitely worth doing at least once for the experience alone - Private onsen (can be booked with a fee) worth the price for 50 minutes
Cons: - Do some research beforehand to get the most out of your experience if, like us, you have not stayed at a Ryokan before!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The private onsen and the open air public onsen. dinner was great, very attentive staff.
Cons: Arrive 20 mins before checkin. despite room is available, i had to wait to checkin. Is a fantastic experience, but is abit pricy.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything is very good
Cons: No
8.8 Excellent
Pros: - Room is huge, nicely decorated and very comfortable. - Our room had a separate tatami area and a bedroom area with two beds. There were dividers between the two areas, which made it easier for the kids to go to bed earlier. - Deluxe room had a beautiful private onsen bath inside the bedroom. That was definitely the highlight of our trip.
Cons: - The only thing I would mention is that we smelled of someone smoking in the middle of the night even though it was a non-smoking property.
5.4 Okay
Pros: SPA and Onsen facilities as well as breakfast
Cons: Not a great option for a family with children. We had the deluxe room with tatami area and the sleeping option for the kids with a rather thin mattress on the floor was not great. The price is really high to sleep on the floor. The room price is above 600 euro and not worth the room. The onsen in the room and SPA was good though. The breakfast was also good. Almost everything was in Japanese and the staff spoke little english but definitely tried.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location in beautiful Hakone with wonderful onsen facilities!
Cons: The breakfast was very average
10.0 Excellent

5.8 Okay
Pros: We liked that it was quiet and relaxing. The Japanese style rooms were spacious and the food (which you have to order in advance) was good too.
Cons: Big language barrier for tourists. Some staff were kind to explain by translating using a device, but one personnel like Ms. Y. Sato was very impolite, and more like angry when trying to communicate.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The ryokan type of hotel, the kimonos for the guests, the breakfast and dinner. The shuttle from the hotel to the railway station, town.
Cons: A bit outdated hotel but still with charm.
7.5 Good
Pros: Great location, I loved also the design of the hotel. Very clean.
Cons: Expensive, but so are the other hotels in the area. We were traveling with kids and they didn’t give them any food (we have been told to share our meals with them). For 500$ a night I would have expected at baby meal for the kids.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The place is big and quiet and the food is great.
Cons: Should give clear direction of which bus that arrives at the nearest bus stop (with bus stop name) that could get on hotel shuttle service.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The place is very serene and it’s amazing place to enjoy our honeymoon.
Cons: The place shows some age, may require a bit maintenance.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hospitality was splendid.
Cons: The location is quite far from public transport.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Everything is perfect except the location but there’s a free shuttle bus service be provided 1 time a day from/to Odawara Station. The staff is amazing!
Cons: Nothing particular
10.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We felt very well taken care of throughout the whole experience. It was nice having one staff member as our point of contact and she was the sweetest woman who made sure our stay was the best it could be. The views of the hotel and the surround town are amazing and we had such a refreshing visit during our trip to Japan. Definitely worth taking the trip to Hakone for this place!
Cons: There really wasn't anything we didn't like. We chose to walk to the location from the station and it wasn't too much of a hike. The location is easy to find and exceptionally staffed. The view and tranquility could not be beat!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a fantastic stay at this gorgeous, peaceful ryokan. The staff are absolutely wonderful, very warm and welcoming—meeting them was one of the best parts of our trip. The food was delicious and presentation of both dinner and breakfast was spectacular. The room was beautifully renovated as a private oasis. Highly, highly recommend a stay here!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Room was incredibly nice and spacious, with hot tub outside - which was the highlight. Service was impeccable.
Cons: The hotel sits a 10-12 min walk from "downtown" Hakone, and a 45 min train ride from Gora.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: My husband and I enjoyed our stay here in November with a few caveats. The rooms were large and clean and very comfortable. There was also a lovely onsen to use which was very relaxing. Staff generally were very helpful and the location was close to a few nice small restaurants.
Cons: Most staff (except one gentleman we met) speak very little English which can make things a bit difficult. The breakfast while nice is occasionally a little small (eg 3 slices of pear counting as a portion of fruit)and what tasted like powdered scrambled eggs one day. Finally due to the landslide the T bus doesn’t currently go to the hotel so you need to get a combination of 2 different buses. I felt the hotel could have made us aware of this before we arrived, though they were helpful in booking us taxis.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved every little thing about this hotel. Especially food. I didn't really care for Japanese traditional food, gaiseki, so I was little worried about food, but here, it was unnecessary. They had French style Japanese dinner, and for breakfast, there were three choices, American, Japanese, French, so I could choose whatever I want for breakfast when I checked in (you can choose different style for each day). Service was great, room was spacious. Museums were pretty close to the hotel. I really enjoyed staying here.
Cons: It took me a little while when I was trying to check out. The line was not made, so the other lady next to me cut in line, but the staff didn't really restrict her, which made me wait more time and in result, I missed the bus. I don't try to blame the hotel about it, but just wish they organized people better next time if there are more people waiting.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Peaceful and serene .
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff were outstanding and service was excellent. Meals are very expensive but the standard is very high - think of meal time as a theatrical performance and not just a time to eat. If you do that and allow the time you will love it.
Cons: No gym.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: A high-end resort, this hotel was very nice. We only stayed one night in a room that had a private onsen, and the room was the biggest we’ve had during our trip to Japan. It felt very much like a suite. The facilities in the room are excellent. The hotel has a French-cuisine restaurant. While pricey, the food was excellent, with great service. Breakfast is either Western of Japanese style. Instead of the usual buffet you choose which style and the staff brings you the chosen type of breakfast at your table. While the amount of food included in the breakfast isn’t immense, it’s enough to start the day strong. All this does come with a cost though, so if you are planning to just crash somewhere late at night and move on in the morning, this might not be the best option. But if you’re not tight on your budget and you can take the time to enjoy the room and its facilities, this is definitely a place to recommend for a relaxing stay and to spoil yourself while visiting Hakone.
6.7 Good
Pros: Quietness, French restaurant, lounge, coffee in room, onsen.
Cons: Communication difficult without Japanese.

Pros: Lots of space in the room. The balcony looked into the nice garden. We had a car so free parking space was great.
Cons: Can clearly see the hotel is a bit aged with some furniture wear and tears. Some of the corners/top surface had dust on it. The room was in a separate building to main reception so checking out was a bit of a trek if you had luggages.

Cons: My fault, but couldn’t find the control for the room heating...meant for a very hot and uncomfortable sleep!

Pros: Onsen were great, nice that they're private. Bar was cool. Food served until 10pm.Happy to hold bags after check out.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Onsen, room, view, lounge area. The location would be great if the cable car was running.
Cons: It would have been nice to be able to use the onsen after check out.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful view, super comfy futon, spacious room, and best of all room included use of the onsens which were indoor and private. Perfect if you want the experience but arent ready for public nudity or have tattoos. We regretted not getting the breakfast, make sure you get it cause if you're staying in the area you'll find nothing open till after 10am. The onsens were perfect too. It was so easy to get to too! Close to the Gora station.
Cons: I had no issue with anything, but things people who are extra picky might consider: squeaky floors (its a traditional building, probably been there a hot minute) and there are some spiders (large ones) in a few dark corners (you're surrounded by nature sooooo yeah unavoidable)
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Absolutely beautiful facility, welcoming English speaking staff, and delicious food. Well worth it to do the kaiseki ryori, and try both Western and Japanese style breakfasts. Pros: Best onsen hotel I've ever stayed at. Definitely worth getting the room with private onsen, and make sure you book dinner at the hotel too.
Cons: Not many place you can go on foot during the day, but the hotel does offer free shuttle service to certian locations.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic onsen tub on your own balcony is just the best.
Cons: The breakfast could use some improvement in terms of the coffee and the hotness of some of the things on offer. The coffee is in need of significant improvement and they would benefit from having espresso available at breakfast.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice hotel, very clean, like the onsen. Breakfast is good. location at hillside not much view. but quiet place. Natural view.
Cons: nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The traditional element to the hotel is excellent, and our room was extremely spacious. We both really enjoyed the public onsen and breakfast was extensive and delicious.
Cons: The fixtures felt a little dated, and our room smelt quite strongly of drainage (probably the onsen). The restaurant only does an expensive set menu so you will need to travel down the hill to find more reasonable options.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: A wonderful 'retreat'. A really nice, clean hotel with a private hot onsen. Everything is beautiful and the room was extremely spacious and really nice and comfortable. The breakfast was amazing, you will feel spoiled here.
Cons: The location is far and not very easily reachable. They had a typhoon and we couldn't use the cable car, so it meant a few bus journeys to arrive. Once we arrived, we simply wanted to relax, which is great for this, but if you had to explore Hakone from this location, I don't think it will be very straightforward.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great room setup and a convenient way to experience a private onsen in your room so perfect for those who have tattoos.
Cons: Food was good but a bit pricey for what you get. Foreigners must have passport for check-in which wasn’t disclosed at time of booking.
