Pros: Great place, amazing breakfast, bed and shower. Highly recommended after a long trek.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room and patio were quite large and more than suitable for our needs. Everything was cleaned to a very high standard and the shower was very hot. The staff were warm, friendly and very helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was spacious, clean and comfortable, with a lovely hot shower. Breakfast was great; french press coffee and eggs. Location was excellent; far enough from town to be quiet but only a short walk. The owner Zarela is truly wonderful, and was so helpful with providing information about the area and activities. A special mention to the on-site restaurant as well; some of the best Thai food we have had on our travels!
Cons: Absolutely nothing. Would highly recommend!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The host, Zaruela, is a wonderful person that helps with everything imaginable and connects people if they like. The house is comfortable, clean, with lots of areas to spend time and chill. It’s a quiet neighborhood in a not so quiet city.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really good Apartment. Would stay here again! Very friendly stuff!! Helped booking tours. Everything very easy going. It’s close to the City Center but in a quiet road. They have good tea and a nice Thai restaurant. Everything is very clean, really good and warm blankets. We stayed for 6 nights. Daily cleaning room service. Provided towels and sanatary. Highly recommend this Place!!! Thank you for everything!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice, clean property with spacious rooms and lots of outdoor spaces for hanging out. Zarela provided helpful information on the surrounding hikes, and booked transportation for us to the trailheads. Great French press coffee at breakfast and the onsite Thai restaurant serves delicious food, we ate there several times during our stay.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Zarela and her team were very helpful and kind. The place is situated in a quiet area but not too far from the main plaza. The room was really comfortable, the bed, pillow, and comforter were top notch 4 star quality! The interior of the place is nice too. The thai food they offered were good.
Cons: Wifi signal doesn’t reach most part of our room. Maybe bathroom facilities could be improved.
7.5 Good
Pros: The staff was extremely helpful and the room was clean and pretty spacious. They gave us gas for camping for free. The restaurant downstairs is nice and good. They let us pay after our 4 days trek because we didn’t have enough cash. Laundry was cheap and very fast.
Cons: We didn’t like that the scrambled eggs had to be payed extra for breakfast (and 10 Soles for one portion!): in the rest of Perù it never happened to us.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent service. Large well equipped room, very clean and very good value for money
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Varied breakfast. Comfy room with lots of blankets. Kitchen was good, with everything you needed. Hot shower always. Ana is absolutely lovely, letting us stay in our room when we had a night bus. Her tour agency downstairs was also very professional with good rates and great service - we were very happy to use her tours and would recommend
Cons: Whilst Ana was always available by WhatsApp and super helpful and speedy, it was sometimes confusing as to who to ask for what you might need? There was rarely toilet paper in the bathrooms. There was noise from the street 2/4 nights so I'd recommend earplugs if you are doing early hiking tours.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Perfect place to stay for a few days in Huaraz. Owner family is lovely and helps you with everything you need. They also organize tours which are very good. Breakfast is included and they always change it a little. I booked the dorm and had it to myself for the whole stay
8.8 Excellent
Pros: central but quite location. Good mattress and spacious rooms. Top shower very good pressure and hot! Staff is so super friendly here. They help you with everything, organizing tours. Anas husband is a guide and knows everyt track here! Highly recomennded to stay here!
Cons: ....
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff spoke English and were genuinely helpful. Good value. Quite at night.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Loved the breakfast of Bread, jam and eggs. Reasonable coffee and the tea selection was great
Cons: Everything was great, the kitchen was a little small and would be a bit busy if there was more people at the property. But food in Huaraz is cheap and almost the same price as cooking yourself. So no big deal
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Tea, good breakfast, Ana and her partner, rooftop, only 3 beds in dorm.
Cons: No soap in the bathroom. I left my own there.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast, hot water for shower and you can do your laundry at rooftop balcony.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The owners Ana and her husband are really friendly and are there to help you at any time. The breakfast is good. You get some bread with eggs and jam and some fruit or yoghurt, thee and coffee. The accommodation is really clean. They have a small terrace that is nice with some views of the mountains. A 15 min walk from the touristy center.
Cons: When I arrived there was nobody, after calling Anna she came directly to open the door for me. She excused herself. Said that check in is at 12. On booking there stood from 12. Miscommunication. All the rest of my stay made it all good.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good property standard. Hot showers. Decent wifi. Not bad breakfast. Very nice and helpful owners. Helped us a lot with organising day tours, both organised and on our own, gave a lot of useful tips. Stored our huge luggage while we were cycling around Huarascan National Park. We extended our stay there 2 times and came back a week later for a few more nights.
Cons: The property is located close to some disco/wedding venue/restaurant, I'm not sure. We had two noisy nights (out of 10), one night music didn't stop until 3am, another night it stopped at 11pm. As always in Peru - have a good pair of earplugs with you. The room requires some simple fixes - curtains mechanism didn't work properly, some drawers were broken. Nothing major.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This is the best hostel that I stayed at in Huaraz. It was clean, comfortable and the owner was super friendly and helpful. She have me a lot of useful information regarding the area and trekking. I would love to stay there again. Thank you, Ana!

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a lot of stuff with us and they accommodated that very well. Everything in the rooms was very clean.
Cons: The only way to get up to your room was for a staff member to unlock the lift - would be easier if guests had a key card and could do it themselves - this is minor though compared to how great everything else was!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was very clean, well decorated, comfortable the bathroom was pretty new. Good view from the terrace and the breakfast was delicious.
Cons: The room was looking at the main street and there was a lot of noice since the windows couldn’t isolated the traffic’s noise.

Akilpo - Huaraz - Building
6
8.8 Excellent (1,078 reviews)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: - Friendly and helpfull staff - They offer a wide range of excursions/hikes - Comfortable bed
Cons: - Stayed one night only so I had a short experience...
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great communal hostel where its really easy to meet people to go hiking with. The hostel has really good tours to some of the main mountains and lagunas with very good quality breakfast and lunch included. Really good location right next to the market and main streets and close to bus stations. Good bunk beds with curtains drawn off which is useful when lots of people need to go to bed early to get up at 2/3/4 am for hikes.
Cons: The shower in our room was broken so we had to use communal showers which had varying levels of success.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location. Good kitchen facilities. The guys running the place were very helpful in trekking guidance (good English). They will refer you to join a tour with 'Aklipo Huaraz Travel Agency' but I agree their tours have more to offer than the classic options. Although I got unlucky with the bunk bed, the rest of the beds in my room were single beds which is a nice change from the usual dorm room set up.
Cons: They started cleaning the room before checkout (changing beds from 6.30am). I didn't like this because not only was I unable to get changed due to the man cleaning around me but I also felt rushed to leave.
6.7 Good
Pros: We stayed in a triple room with private bathroom. Room was spacious, bathroom was clean and shower water was hot. Room was great.
Cons: We stayed the 2 nights we had booked ahead and moved elsewhere for another 4 nights because we realised there was far nicer accommodation which included breakfast for much cheaper. The other reason we left is the common area kitchen was also awful - no cleaning detergent, not clean and both mornings we couldn't even find a knife (clean or dirty) to make our sandwiches for lunch - this wasn't from it being busy as we were the only ones there.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Super friendly place in a great location. All the people who work there are amazing. Hello to Elmer from Tony! :)
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staffs are friendly, good location, fairy clean
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The kitchen is super nice and well equiped. There is a variety of tea available all day long. The location is good, close to the market. The hostel offers a lot of good trekking tours to see the lagoons.
Cons: The showers are either burning hot or freezing cold, there seems to be no in between.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location is very central but a little hard to find in the beginning. The roof top is a great place to meet people
Cons: Nothing worth noting
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Akilpo is a great hostel to base your Huaraz stay at - the dorm beds have curtains for privacy and the showers are some of the best I've had in South America. The staff are constantly cleaning, and the communal area is great for relaxing after a hike or arriving early on the night bus. The staff give excellent, unbiased information on acclimatisation, the various treks and which were just as easy to do yourself! The Panorama Laguna 69 trek that they organise was incredible - an early start but worth it for the amazing views and good weather. Walter guided our group of 9 expertly, providing information on the mountains, lakes, plants and animals that we saw on the trek, and taking photos of the group throughout. The Panorama trek turns Laguna 69 into a less linear walk, starting at a viewpoint high in the mountains before descending to join the Laguna 69 trail over half way. A delicious breakfast and lunch were provided, and the mini bus was clean and comfortable. We were some of the first people at Laguna 69 so could enjoy the scenery without too many people around. It was definitely the highlight of our stay in Huaraz!
Cons: The kitchen is a tad small, but we'll equipped

Featured amenities include a computer station, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. A shuttle from the hotel to the airport is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our group arrived very early and well before check in time, but we were greeted with enthusiasm and warmth. Additionally, the staff provided us with wonderful breakfast and coffee despite that it was not necessarily offered on our arrival day. The family atmosphere makes La Casa de Maruja an excellent choice in Huaraz and the staff is ready with advice for activities in the surrounding areas.
Cons: I was so pleased with my stay, I honestly cannot think of anything negative.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This was a great little find and Maruja made us feel right at home. *we arrived on the night bus at 7am and we’re ablr to checkin right away - great for weary travellers *hot water for showers always a plus *stunning views from the top floor dining area of Huascarán *comfortable beds *a little shared balcony off our room *Maruja and her husband were very accommodating on anything we asked for - very friendly
Cons: * noise on the street was loud - lots of dogs barking and vehicles passing with loud music made it hard to get to sleep. However, once asleep I wasn’t woken up!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host family was responsive, helpful, and friendly. They were always ready with tips and recommendations for activities in the local area. I felt like I was a part of their family. They kindly stored our excess luggage while we trekked in the Andes. I give my most sincere recommendation to La Casa de Maruja.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great (bread, jam, coffee/tea, fruit shake, eggs) and was even prepared for us on mornings when we left at 3.30am and 5am (minus the eggs). The bed was sooo comfy and warm. It was hard to get out of it each day. Most importantly, Gilf and Maruja were absolutely wonderful hosts, very caring. They organised a number of day hikes for us and they have gear to rent if you need it.
Cons: The shower in our first room was only hot for the first night and following morning. Afterwards it was only lukewarm for a few days. When it was hot, it was amazing. Location is out of town which is comparatively quiet, but we found ourselves having to go into town a lot for food. You can get a taxi for 4-5 soles (I think we were overcharged at 5 soles in all but one taxi); a colectivo for 1 sole pp, or a public bus/van for 80 cents or so.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Location was great, away from the chaos of the centre but an easy Colectivo ride in. The staff were so nice and helpful, giving us both an early check in and late check out. They really went out of their way to make you feel like you were at home. Breakfast was really good and the coffee was delicious. We made a lot of use of the kitchen which is big, basic but has all you need and there is a nice terrace area and even a climbing wall! We liked the B&B and Huaraz so much we extended our stay.
Cons: We liked everything about our stay, if I had to be picky the water pressure in the shower was a bit hit and miss but never a huge issue.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff, The owners are well informed about the conditions in the mountains, Nice terrace with beautiful view to the Huascaran, Best pencakes in Huaraz!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Really helpful staff and we very much appretiated the early check-in and late check-out.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Hosts were lovely. They helped me book all the treks I wanted to do and were very knowledgeable about the area. Room was very clean and comfortable. A nice rooftop kitchen area to hang out in.
Cons: The location is a out of the main centre but it is easy to catch a collective in and out of town
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gilf, Maruja, and the rest of the family, were very welcoming! Upon arrival we felt like we were visiting relatives. Always smiles and ready to help you with whatever you need. Breakfast every morning was excellent and coffee as good could not be found. They extended every possible resource to us as we made our way around the region trekking.

Pros: This was a great place. We ended up staying for 4 nights. Staff were great and helpful and spoke some English.

Pros: The hotel is located 5min away from the Plaza de Armas. You don’t really hear the noise of the streets. The room was ok for a few nights. The WiFi was really good. The staff was really nice and welcoming. After a day of trekking, there’s indeed the possibility to take a shower before traveling.
Cons: Rooms are a bit old-fashioned. The breakfast wasn’t great at all as it’s not a buffet like almost everywhere else. You are granted 1 glass of fresh orange juice and 1 egg. Nothing more... you can still have bread, bananas and tea, but the choice is very limited.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very accommodating staff
4.2 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: Staff availability, poor value for money, continually ran out of hot water, nearly electrocuted by dodgy wiring of bedside lamp.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Just perfect. High class hostel with a great location, very quiet but 3-4 mins walk to city center. The rooms are big enough and very comfortable. The view from the rooftop for breakfast is beautiful. The hosts barely speak english but we comunicated well.

Pros: No hostel in Huaraz can beat this place. For about $5 you will have a comfortable bed, a hot shower and great breakfast. The hostel is also 5 - 10 minutes away from the busy centre so you can sleep properly at night. Furthermore, Anita and Paul (the owners) are extremely friendly and helpful. I was unlucky to have food poisoning and they took really good care of me. They even followed up several days after check-out to see if I was fine. Thank you Anita and Paul!

6.3 Good
Pros: Great kitchen, many areas to meet folk. The location is handy for central town and they have lots of washrooms available.
Cons: Room was very cold and dark, breakfast was just ok. They have lots of information however it's tour based really. Washrooms needed to be cleaned more regularly. Wifi was the worst in Peru yet. Lots of photos indicated evening meal night and events but nothing was going on at all and no meals offered other than the basic breakfast included.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The Breakfast was great. Apart from the usual bread with jam und Coffee/Tee we've always had something extra. One day it was a smoothie, the other day it was waffles and on another day we got pancakes. The staff is bilingual and unbelievably polite and accommodating. If you are there you should also try the cheap and delicious Hamburger. All in all a very nice hostel with (thankfully) hot showers and good wifi.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The best guest house I ever stayed with great location in Huaraz. Leonardo is a great and funny person, we felt every minute at home! Great breakfast, everything really clean, comfortable beds, television with Netflix and hot water. Leonardo is the best guide of Huaraz! If you want a unique Trekking experience, you should book a tour with him. We will definitively come back soon.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Akilpo guest house was fantastic! The location is perfect, the staff are very nice and helpful. They can arrange great tours and treks very easily and help with all your questions. The bed was super comfortable and the pillows were memory foam! The breakfast was also very good. This is definitely the place to stay in Huaraz!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is fantastic and the staff are so friendly and helpful. It was the most comfortable bed, best sleep I had the entire month I was in Peru. It was really clean. The showers were hot! I enjoyed everything about my stay here.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Ideal spot to start your treks from. The staff is really friendly and helpful with tips, safekeeping your bags for longer periods, making sure that everything is okay. The breakfast is really good and they even come and ask you what type of eggs you would like. The location is perfect, as it's in a small courtyard that has a couple of great restaurants.
Cons: Sometimes a bit cold.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Biggest and most comfortable bed in Huaraz with down duvet and Netflix. Very clean, great location, and helpful staff who also run a good agency- can book tours and day trips. Room and bathroom are very clean, with piping hot water and hair drier. Breakfast is tasty- eggs, fruit, bread, cake and juices.
Cons: 10% service charge was a bit of a surprise; not initially listed on booking.com. Also given they're popular, if you arrive at 7am off the night bus your room probably won't be ready; but you can leave your bags, use wi-fi and go for breakfast at California Cafe.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff were excellent. The breakfast was tasty. The location is fantastic, among several restaurants that cater to tourists, and away from the noise of the street.
Cons: The bed had a large indent in the middle. Multiple of the electrical outlets were falling out of the wall and therefore didn't work. We were missing a light bulb in the bathroom.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfy beds, quiet room, EXTREMELY helpful and friendly staff (Leonardo and Esteban) who also run a very well organised trekking agency, quiet location just a 2 minute walk from the Central square (Plaza de Armas)

9.6 Excellent
Pros: This was my first Selina experience and easily the best hostel I've been to. The common spaces are phenomenal and beautiful, and so are the rooms. It is a stark change from other hostels in the area that are more backpack-y and geared to campers. (Absolutely book here if you are the glamping type!) It was so nice to come home to this after a long day of hiking! Also, the showers are the best I've had in South America! If you've been traveling for a while, you'll appreciate the water pressure and temp control. The staff was also very nice and helpful!
Cons: Not a fan of higher prices on the weekends. Given this hostel is already significantly more expensive than others in Huaraz, the +$10USD rate hike was hard to stomach.
6.3 Good
Pros: Kitchen facilities were good. Staff was nice!
Cons: Private rooms were not isolated enough. Too noisy. Bar drinks were ridicolos expensive. Bit difficult to connect with other travellers in comparison with other hostels. THE PRICES WHICH WERE LISTED ON BOOKING WERE NOT THE SAME AS THE ACTUAL PRICES!
4.0 Okay
Pros: Staff is friendly. Room was cosy with a good bed.
Cons: The location is not good. Far away from the area you need to be. There is no backpacker/western thing going on. Almost only locals coming there for a drink. The hostel was almost completely empty. The food they serve is pretty awfull and they fire up the music at 7am which is pretty loud.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: - Really good beds with soft duvets and a curtain around your bed for some peace and quiet -Everything is high quality -Pool table & pull up bar & garden
Cons: -As normal most selina’s are like hotels rather than hostels so good quality but lacking atmosphere -Food is expensive
4.0 Okay
Pros: In Peru much better value for your money, staff was just helpful enough. Breakfast took forever we had to cancel the order one morning. Then the following day we planned it would take awhile which it did, when we finally got it not everything came out. Over all this place is over priced. You can get equally as nice places in Huaraz for half that with amazing service. Rooms were small.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very friendy and helpful Staff, nice breakfest included, clean rooms, nice showers with Hot water
7.5 Good
Cons: Do not take the tours offered by their "trusted friend" who will just scan yo u and upsell tours of other operators. The hotel will get a percentage of this. Instead look for Tour operators like "Corazon de Jesus" or others that will offer you a fair price!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Large room, great shower, comfortable bed, clean, good parking.
Cons: A kitchenette somewhere on the property would be nice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is top notch. Value is excellent: you get a big room with comfortable beds and a big and clean bathroom for 10$ per night. Water pressure in the shower is awesome as well. Breakfast is meh but for the price you cant complain. You get a serving of scrambled eggs, bread and juice or tea. I would definetly recommend
Cons: Nothing. Everything was perfect for the price.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good staff!
7.9 Good
Pros: Very clean, big rooms, great shower. Breakfast is simple but ok - 2 buns, one egg, butter, jam, fresh juice, tea/coffe. Good wifi connection.
Cons: The room 408 has no outside window, the hot water connection was broken, really bad smell from the bathroom. Room 310 was much better.
