Hotel was right across the street from the train station and could not have been more conveniently placed. Room was comfortable and the staff was very polite. Breakfast was a bit overpriced and the wifi was very slow.
It was in a great location and was obviously a beautiful building in it's heyday. The view out of the window was impressive too and the room (414) was a good size with plenty of storage space for clothes and a nice big bed. For the money I paid, I was expecting at least a kettle in the room to be able to make a drink. The shower screen and head both needed descaling and the screen leaked. Also, I would say that the decor in the hotel looked quite tired- for example the impressive stairs were marred by the carpet being threadbare on the landings.
The hotel in general - well located, good service... No
The hotel is in a very good location, very close to the train station. The hotel room is bright and clean. The mini bar fridge was not working in the room.
Good location. Close to the Bodensee, train station, shopping center and the aquarium. Second child (2-years old) was additionally charged, which was disappointing.
Very nice service, very friendly. Great location for city trips/ shopping. Bar was nice. But could even be enlarged in size to offer space for more guests.
central location, free upgrade to a suite, wonderful breakfast and Hulya most welcoming
Friendly personnel Television was not functioning initially, but was rapidly repaired after our demand.
Friendly staff, excellent breakfast Restaurant not in use as far as we could tell. No promotion of the restaurant despite the potential of the beautiful dining room.
The lobby is impressive. The location to the main attractions was ideal. For being across the train station, our hotel room was quiet and we didn't hear much road or train noise. Only steps were available to go out the rear of the hotel towards the parking garage. Hard to manuever if you had rolling luggage. Thought the price for a double room was a little high.
Service was good, the decor was not bad (even if the hotel is a bit old)
the hotel location yes , we have asked for 3 beds rooms and we did not get it , however they wanted to charge us for this and we refused . they give us smoking rooms with very bad view .
Location, helpful staff
The view was spectacular!
We very much enjoyed the bar that is hidden in the rear of the hotel because it was quiet and had a nice atmosphere.
Beautiful setting and good location. Beds were horrible- uncomfortable. Everytime one of us moved it made so much noise. Pillows were basically flat air. We asked for two more which we got quickly, but still not good. We didn't get much sleep.
The hotel is ideally located on the lake. The building is wonderful and our room was spacious. Breakfast buffet is fantastic !
For the price of the hotel would have liked to have air conditioning.
I liked the Hotels physical location and the way the history of the old Monastory has been preserved in the entrance cloisters No
it was ideally located we had to walk from the 3rd floor to the fourth floor where our room was located-elevator did not go all the way up
Very friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. Beautiful view of lake Constance, and a few blocks from the main train station and city center.
Came down for a break from Zurich. Breakfast rooom/lounge newly renovated. Before you had vouchers to eat at Mcdonalds. Very nice breakfast included in price (not the case in other hotels on same street here). Reception staff were very welcoming. I had a single room, which was fine for one night. Very clean room. It didn't have a view of the lake, which previous rooms have had that I've stayed in here. Good value for money. Excellent location. Staff very friendly. Nothing much to complain about. Ask for a view of the lake. There was also no telephone in my room.
Central location, nice room furnishings. Only one key that had to be used to unlock the door from the inside, not an electronic key.
Good location. Had to ask every day for towels and toilet paper. They do not take credit cards. Sofa bed in family room was almost unusable.
Very well located, in front of the Konstanz train station and the main touristic points of interest, as well as a good shopping center. Downstairs there is a Mac Donald's, which is useful when traveling with kids. Very complete German breakfast. The hotel has no parking nor an agreement with the closer parking. Check-in closes very early and there is no staff at night. Expensive hotel for the quality.
Good location, friendly staff
This hotel is perfect for adventure peripherally, where you can relax and rest.big rooms with lots of comfort.nice dining room.
The location was central and it was very easy to get around the town from there. Close to station, harbour and shops. Very noisy and stuffy. The staff were a little abrupt when we were early but friendly later on. Having breakfast provided in Macdonalds was a little strange, I would rather the hotel market themselves as room only and bring down the price.
We enjoyed the location.
The central location. The size of the room.
It said it had wifi which was important for ne for work. It did not reach the room and the mgmnt had blocked some email sites.
The rooms were clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful and the the hotel was a short walk from the city center and Lake Constance.
simple clean room with enough good facilities . reasonable wide choice for breakfast .
This hotel is in a good location, close to the city center (5 minutes walking). Good price-quality relationship.
Cleaniness of room As the business hotel, the wifi connection is desperately disappointed. During our stay in ibis Konstanz, the wifi was disconnected when we closed the door of the room. When we seeked help from the staff at the reception, the staff's answer was very irresponsible and irritated us. Her answer was like "Because the wifi is free, we are not responsible for the poor internet connection.
Location, location, location After having drinks at the bar in the evening discovered that the rooms and the bar are seperate items so could not put bill on the room - minor irritation only. Also the breakfast was cold but I discovered that the warming plate was not plugged in and when I told them they were very pleased ro receive the input.
Location to shopping and historic district Difficult to actually locate the hotel...many streets in the area are pedsetrian only
Very clean hotel
The breakfast was an amazing buffet and the building from the outside was very quaint. The room was disappointingly small, was next to the lift and looked out on a wall. It was only for 1 night so wasn't really a problem. I would ask for a bigger room if staying longer.
Nice facility -- rooms were clean and well equipped. It is currently under renovation and the site did not warn us about that. No noise issues, but clearly a mess.
location only problem with parking in particular anloading luggage
Very close to historical center noisy
Relaxed atmosphere, and good breakfast
The rooms are very well equipped and with plenty of daylight. Very unique is the terrace on the roof The gourmet restaurant is not open only on preorder of groups
The location was in a good spot near the center of town. Plenty of things to do in the immediate area. The hotel would not allow me to use a VAT form, claiming that the German law prohibited it. This was not correct. I have used a VAT form in other hotels in Germany with success. I believe that the staff was either ill-informed or flat out lying to me.
Nothing This hotel is ranked as a 4-star hotel - I wouldn't give it more than 2 stars. The room was small, but the main problem was the toilet/bathroom - it was a small area cut out of the room with an opaque sliding glass door and no privacy whatsoever: anyone in the room could see and hear everything what was going on in the bathroom.
Convenience for seeing the areas around the Boudensee and enjoying the Autumn Festival which was taking place. Stepping in and out of the deep bath to shower. Also lack of shelving in the toilet/bathroom for essentials.
Easy to get to lake side and the shops and dinner areas, lovely breakfast and nice rooms. Staff very friendly and helpful as we only spoke English this was not a problem. I would have liked the use of a washing machine and dryer as this was in the middle of our trip. I would have liked shampoo and conditioner supplied to the room.
The hotel was clean and the room was nice. The hotel had only been open 3 weeks, the lift didnt work so had to walk 4 flights of stairs to go in and out. They didnt have an ironing board, the receptionist english wasn't very good. And the rooms didnt have any air conditioning or fans!
Location I can imagine how unreal this story may sound, but this has occurred to my 70 year old mother that was staying at this hotel November 26, 2016 till December 3rd, 2016. She was to stay a full week while visiting a local dental office for orthodontic procedures. It was supposed to be a quiet stay as she had procedures performed in the morning and rested in the hotel the rest of the day. Little did she know that the stay there would become one of her most frightening and humiliating experiences. On the second day of her stay, the housekeeping did a poor job cleaning the room and my mother decided to complain about that to the front desk. Perhaps that event was related to what transpired days later. On a Friday morning a full day before checkout (Saturday) she left the hotel for a few hours. When she got back, she saw her personal belonging clumsily piled together on the floor of the lobby, not even in a plastic bag. As she approached the staff, she was stunned to hear a rude and shocking accusation. The clerk bizarrely claimed that she defecated into the bathtub (I kid you not) and demanded that she immediately pay for her stay and leave. As she was processing what just happened, she asked to see what they were talking about. At which point they claimed they have already cleaned everything up and had nothing to show. When she insisted if any pictures were taken of what they speak of, the clerk just claimed they trust their cleaning staff. They still had to let her back into the room because she left documents in the safe and she saw how the room was completely clean and ready for the next guest. She was certain that she left the room in reasonably clean condition and did no such thing as they alleged in the bathroom. You can imagine how humiliating the experience was for my mother to even be accused of such a thing. Unfortunately, the story does not end there. They charged her for the remaining night even though this was 11AM. They claimed it was to compensate them for the “cleaning”. To top it off, they kept chanting that she was not welcome at the property ever again. Utterly humiliated my mother had to gather her things and wander onto the street to look for another hotel to stay the remaining night. The moral of the story is if you do decide to stay at this property, be aware of what sort of experience you may get if you get on the bad side of the staff. Be prepared to take pictures of the hotel room before you leave and be prepared to call police or obtain legal services.
Modern, comfortable and clean. Very friendly staff. The restaurant was closed both of the nights we stayed.
The location is good , it was near the old town the room was too small and the bathroom has glass door which is not suitable for muslim people.
Modern decor, good location No tables available at breakfast and not much food left!!! Under staffed
Breakfast only! the location is not very good...and the charges are high, compare to std of the hotel!
The best experience was breakfast in the restaurant, a fantastic view over the lake in the sunrise. The room was newly renovated and very clean and the beds were veryt comfortable. Very short walking distance to the train station and the boats crossing the lake.
It has kitchen, shall be good for family if they can provide cooking stuff.
The staff was kind, location is greate - it's near the town center, railway station, etc.
Good location. Clean. There's no elevator, so I wouldn't recommend for elderly people.
Nice and clean room in an excellent location when visiting the sites and attractions of the city of Konstanz and the lake.
The hotel was very conveniently located for the station. It was very clean. The room to the street was quite noisy in the morning with street traffic but this was compounded by the fact that there was a construction site opposite. It had an impersonal feel.
central to the walking area of the city the temporary checkin was next to our room and we heard the phone ringing in the middle of the night and people talking late at night. The parking for our motorcycles was several blocks away in a public garage. We were hoping for something closer and more secure.
very central location Lift not working well. Reception on 2nd Floor.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The hotel is in a convenient position for shops, marina and bars/restaurants. Due to lack of air-conditioning we had to open the windows at night, which proved a bit noisy.
Nice central location, nice light and clean rooms.Nice choices for breakfast. Quite noisy and having no air con it's a decision between opening the window and getting hot!No leaflets or maps on the local area for tourists except for the Sealife Centre!
Nice modern, refurbished rooms. Good central location. Breakfast is a bit limited
Spotlessly clean, good buffet breakfast, close to train station No restaurant
The hotel was a good location close to the lake and shopping district. The rooms were very modern and clean.
The hotel location in relation to Konstanz! Fantastic. Breakfast was awesome too. They say that they have free Wifi, but this is not true!!!! Beware!!! They offer the service if you pay a third-party provider through a credit card. This is not free and was very misleading. Parking is also not free. There is parking station around the corner that they point you towards. Getting your things out of the car is a little awkward, as you need to park in the bus bay out the front.
Family run, so there was a homely vibe No elevator to upper floors. No mosquito mesh or arrangements. Poor AC performance in very hot weather (AC broke down middle of night or perhaps theres a number of hour quota?)
The breakfast was excellent; I had a bag of gummy bears on my pillow. The mattress was comfortable to sleep on. The hotel had mold problems. The bathroom was flooded many times and the mold grew in the wooded parts of the bathroom. The sealant aroud the sink and the bathtub were moldy, too. The room was a lot smaller than the online picture showed. There was an A/C unit in the room but it did not produce cold air :-( On the first floor, there were renovations going on.
Location Street and traffic noise. Could not sleep with auto traffic late pm and early am.
The breakfast was really good. As I am a vegetarian I enjoyed the wide choice of fresh fruites and vegetables. No private parking. You have to look for a spot around the hotel.
Breakfast buffet The website shows a grand room...we stayed in a room so small, the bathroom door opened into the bed! The staff didn't speak english, didn't appear to know where Mainau was! Also, when I asled how to dial the phone to call Booking.com, trying to use a calling card, it didn't work. The lady did dial your # in NL, but didn't tell me there would be a fee...she charged me 7 euro 60 cents. Andre answered the phone and was polite, but did nothing to help me. I'd never used booking.com and will not likely use you again...especially being overseas, lanugauge barriers can be difficult to navigate through...all I wanted was for him to talk to the hotel owner and explain our concerns (the room also smelled like smoke and I'd selected a non smoking room). I thought you might be like a liaison for me...Andre suggested we ask for the sheets to be changed and told me to write my thoughts on your website. Interestingly enough, he did say the hotel's cancellation policy wasn't clear and that you're working on many hotels to clarify...we felt stuck and paid for two nights eventhough we stayed for one...and headed home ending our trip one full day early. I wouldn't recoomend this hotel to any American...the Europeans were even greeted differently than we were for breakfast! Indeed a mistake on my part, have never had any trouble with a hotel in Germany before and this is my second time living here. Let me knwo if you need any clarification or further info.
Excellent location, comfortable, clean and friendly. Nothing.
The warm persona of the hosts. Down to earth friendliness.handy restaurant with local fare. No private parking, no elevator, many stairs, not for the feeble or the elderly.
Perfect breakfasts - one of the best that I have seen in Germany, with a good variety and lots of home-made tasty stuff. Good location - very close to the lake, and the parks, and the city center. Free Wi-Fi Price is higher that you would expect for such class of the hotel. Lack of minibar. And no indication that water bottles in the room are not gratis.
The location of the hotel in the center of Konstanz, within walking distance to train station, historical sites, and old city. The historical architecture and location of the building. The plaza cafe outside the hotel entrance.
The 800 year old building is impressive. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room and hotel was clean, quiet and located very close to the center of the town. The lack of internet in the rooms is disappointing.
Very near Baden sea
I had a very relaxing stay. The hotel is well situated in Konstanz, the food served by the 2 excellent restaurants was of the highest quality. I stayed in two rooms, both were spacious and had character and charm. And the staff were genuinely friendly. It would be hard to find fault with the hotel. Nothing comes to mind.
the close proximity to the train station, shopping centre and pier. the bathroom was really small, hotel is really old but breakfast was wonderful.
I liked its proximity to shops and the bahnof. The breakfast was refreshing with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. The presentation was great. The breakfast room was small but cosy and pretty. The main door is locked after 10 (or 11?) pm. It was difficult to open.
