La Rochelle hotels near Porte de la Grosse Horloge

Pros: Good location , steps away from main hub. Breakfast OK. Quite expensive . Standard room passable but positioned opposite noisy outside very late bar . Rooms very clean , shower very good. Toiletries in bathroom pleasant. Would return but to stay in a superior or executive room apparently in a quieter location.

Cons: Price of breakfast .

Pros: Staff on reception were pleasant and helpful. Cleaning staff were lovely. Location was close to the main town but far enough away to be outside the bustle. Easy walk to train station and all we wanted to do and see. Fans of Georges Simenon, don't forget to visit Cafe de la Paix. Take a walk at night to enjoy the towers lit up.

Cons: We had room 306 , near the lift, which was noisy at times, though not when we wanted to sleep.

Pros: The staff was very friendly and the room very comfortable!

Pros: 10 mins walk to old town center. Super good breakfast with everything hot and cold. Nice staffs! Room is a bit small for 2audlts +2 kids. But kids are free for beds and breakfast! Highly recommended!

Pros: Friendly staff, food excellent, great location for a couple of nights in La Rochelle. Plenty of parking also.

Pros: The location was very convenient for the major attractions, historic port, etc., and restaurants. As a pedestrian area it was easy to find and park for unloading while having pay and free car parking close by. The hotel was clean and comfortable but no lift and I was on the third floor.

Pros: Centre of town, a great welcome and clean and a very large room. But is was for disabled people and so felt a little cold and not very romantic for a couple stay. We payed for an upgrade deluxe room, Im not convinced that we got it.

Cons: The room was on the ground floor situated by the door to the courtyard. It was noisy due to the smokers coming in and out especially in the morning we heard people outside our door, We were expecting a deluxe room but were put ina very large adapted room for disabled guests. It felt functional rather than deluxe and cosy or romantic for a couple stay. We couldn't use the internet as the signal was poor so was unable to download a film on our iPad or connect to internet on our phones which was disappointing.

Pros: Location of hotel couldn't have been better, just around the corner from the old port and lots of restaurants and shops but just far away enough that there wasn't much noice and had a great sleep! Room was pretty basic but the bed was comfortable and the bed linen was clean.

Pros: Very convenient location in the heart of old La Rochelle, right by the old port. Very clean, very friendly, very quiet. One of the best old town hotels I've stayed at in France.

Pros: Shower & toilet facilities were very good & room was clean & presentable.

Cons: The third bed was only a sofa bed which was't adequate & the bed sheet was of poor quality & had a corner strap that was broken. The room could have been larger for 3 people sharing - I.e a seperate room/area for the double bed. Also the Free car parking was full so we had to park in the Public car park by the beach & pay. The map directions for the free parking wasn't large enough; making them difficult to find.

Pros: Hotel was selected for location.

Cons: Cramped bedroom and shower cubicle. Standard ibis configuration.

Pros: Super location, right next to clock tower and vieux port. Helpful, friendly staff, clean room, comfortable bed and breakfast included.

Pros: The breakfast was good, it could of done with putting the fresh orange machine at the beginning of the buffet as it caused a queue at the end of the room next to the coffee machine and stopped the flow of the buffet but just a minor inconvenience.

Cons: Personally I would have liked to have a kettle in the room.

Pros: The location is very nice in the center of the city, near all of the visiting points. The design is very nice. The room is clean. The information and instructions for parking are very clear.

Cons: The room is small and not soundproofing. The hotel gave us a room in the connecting room so there was a door without lock which you can open to go to the other room. So it is not secured. We went to the breakfast buffet around 10.30 and there was nothing left. The staff wasn’t smiley. Night receptionist is weird. He didn’t greet us and gave us a weird stare.

Pros: Great location looks. Really lovely, helpful friendly staff, very clean comfortable well equipped room , good breakfast, would gladly stay again.

Cons: Minor issue was the Car park is a public car park, not part of hotel, so was a little confusing to find, it is however only about 50m away and the hotel offers a discounted fee. 8€ day/overnight. All quite clearly explained in the hotel room book, but not so much on the booking.com site.

Pros: Location is king in any business. We had made the right choice in choosing this hotel which is at the door step of the vieux port. There is also a plethora of restaurants for you to choose from. Some exquisite dinner addresses (La Boussole and le Aunis for example) a few metres away from the hotel !

Cons: The huge family room could have some form of separation and be better designed. There is no privacy at all with the way the lavatory and bathroom are positioned in that large room. We have grown-up kids and they were expecting some minimal form of privacy!

Cons: Rooms advertised as 18 square meters which they were not also very dated and small, the decor dated, pillows hard and room extremely cluttered. Water in bathroom difficult to regulate as it was scolding hot most of the time.

Pros: The room was a little small. But a good sized bathroom. As we only stayed one night this was fi e for us.

Cons: We did have ants in our room which was a bit off putting.

Pros: Excellent location. There are restaurants all around and the harbour is right outside, just a short taxi ride from the station, and about 20 euros ( taxi) to the small airport. Very well presented rooms. The facilities within the rooms were good with tea and coffee, mini bar, wifi, and good toiletries.
