Pros: It was really wonderful place - great view, nice pool, good breakfast (fresh fig jam was delicious). The owner Manuela was very welcoming, she even gave us a ride to the restaurant and back. Also we got to taste their wines and had a small tour in the cellar. Truly great place.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place is very nice, rooms are big and well decorated. Host is very welcoming and helpful, she helped us picked a restaurant nearby. Very peaceful breakfast in front of the pool and the view.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This accommodation is off the charts as regards star rating, as it facilitates an A+ on every score. There is style and sophistication in the furnishings of the property and it is set quietly in the heart of the wine trail of the Douro valley. The winery makes excellent wine that you probably haven’t sampled before, as it is comparatively small in production but it was fun to have our own private wine sampling during our visit. We will definitely revisit and if you love unique and beautiful properties, with a touch of magic you will love it here!
Cons: Absolutely nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Charming Quinta with delightful hosts. Manuela, her team and her family did everything possible to make us welcome. We loved the relaxed atmosphere and delicious breakfasts. The wines are very good, as is the family restaurant in Regua - unusual small plates and local dishes. We would love to return.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely stay at a family run B&B. The staff were fantastic, they picked us up from the train station and gave us some great recommendations. The location was peaceful and it was nice to relax in the pool with some of the wine made there. I would definitely recommend a stay here.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed at Casa da Azenha for 4 nights and felt really welcome by staff and family. A unique house with a fabulous garden and a vineyard you can explore. We were given the most useful recommendations to tour the Douro-area after a delightful breakfast in the beautiful breakfast room where we met the other guests in the morning. The bed rooms were clean and cosy, had very comfortable beds and were carefully looked after. We really felt like coming home every night. Casa da Azenha and its people radiate a warmth, a hospitality and a sense of trust that is rare these days. We highly recommend to experience the beauty of this place.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was incredible, such a beautiful place, and the staff was exceptional. Ana was so helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: One of the most beautiful and peaceful places I have ever been.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful, peaceful location! Anna was very helpful planning local outings.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: When the gate to casa anzenha opened we entered a Portugese fairy tale! It was even more beautiful than we hoped. The big and lush garden is lovely to walk through or sit in. It is full of flowers, tropical plants, orange and other fruit trees, little romantic seats, fountains, candle lit lanterns at night, views over the vineyards and not to forget there's a great pool, on one side deep enough to dive. The interior, the furniture of the rooms is so tasteful with antiques mixed with bright colors, we got inspired by it! The new ac was a nice surprise for us, it worked really well. We only had to switch it on briefly to have a nicely chilled room for the entire night. The beds are made and the bins emptied every day by very nice people. And then there's Anna, a dream host! She makes sure her guests have absolutely everything they need, from making reservations for boats or restaurants to finding swimming spots. She has a good sense of humour. The owner welcomed us late at night. She is very friendly too, told us a bit about the history of Casa Azenha (how it has been in the family of her husband for 400 years) and checks regularly if all is good and she came by with glasses of port. We could feel the love of the people of Casa Azenha everywhere: they look after their beautiful place and their guests so well! Breakfast is served outside on a large table where with the other guests, which is a nice way to talk to other guests. One day it rained and we were welcomed in the main house in a beautiful palace-like diner room. Casa Azenha is small scale and that gives it a wonderful homely feel. It was a magical week, thank you so much!
Cons: The only thing we did not like was that we had to leave...:-)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Superb breakfast at table in beautiful garden
Cons: Would like to have stayed longer if we had time
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were welcomed by Ana with some fresh homemade lemonade and some tips of which Quintas to visit in the region. The breakfast was fresh and delicious and you could order picnics to take walking with you around the vineyard or out with you when exploring the Douro. The staff were so very accommodating and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable, they'd call and make reservations on our behalf. We booked an extra night within the first half an hour, we loved it so much.
Cons: Everything was great.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Ana and the Team were extremely nuce and professional It felt like being in a fairytale, we will definitely be back @ Azenha
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Set in a beautiful garden with a large pool and one is able to walk through the surrounding vineyards. Ana and the staff are extremely hospitable and helpful, providing great recommendations for restaurants and wine tasting. Our young daughters loved the garden, pool and vineyards.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wow! This wine hotel is amazing! We stayed in the Barrel Huts which were beautiful and VERY unique stay! The wine tour was a nice learning experience and Hugo the guide was very very nice. The wine itself is something to remember! We loved every second of it!
Cons: NOTHING!
5.4 Okay
Pros: The ambiance and the view. I was really looking forward to having a nice romantic night but it rained all night and the roof leaked. The staff was very apologetic and said that they are sending us bottles of port wine as a token. I still have yet to receive it. Probably it is in the mail...
Cons: The room leaked and was not able to sleep. The shower floor is very slippery, the sink too small...it is really good for spending a couple of nights tops but more than that it is not comfortable. The round bed is hard to get used to.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The wine barrels were fun to stay in. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent as was dinner. The tour was OK but could have been more informative.
Cons: The property is expanding and seems to be taking away from some of the exclusivity of the winery.
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: The sister hotel Six Senses is just down the road
Cons: This hotel is under renovation, the facilities are very limited. a
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Wine barrel house did not disappoint!!! Very cool spot and high class elegant place!! The dinner was probably one of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life!!
Cons: Trying to buy wine at the shop was difficult as the staff were way too busy doing wine testing so it was a little frustrating waiting to be served!

6.3 Good
Pros: This hotel is located directly across the street from DOC, a terrific restaurant
Cons: The facilities are spartan and bleak. The lighting is harsh and relentless. The bed is hard. The shower is weak. The amenities were poor. Overall, a disappointment
7.0 Good
Pros: Spacious clean room. Friendly staff.
Cons: A 15 mniute drive to nearest bar or restaurant. No mini bar No safe deposit. Breakfast bearly adequate with on more than one ocasion cold coffee. My impression is that it is a hotel which really only functions during the summer season.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was great in the Duoro valley. It was right on the river between Lamego and Pinhao. A very quiet location with a great terrace to enjoy views of the vineyards and the riverboats. Breakfast was excellent. The room was very comfortable. Unfortunately the hotel restaurant was not open for dinner when we were there in October. There is a Michelin star restaurant across the road but we didn't go. It seemed a little bit too pretentious. We did take the short drive to Armamar for dinner. There are a few restaurants there and we really enjoyed Fonte Nova. Excellent food at very reasonable prices.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good hotel in a very good location to tour the Douro valley. Spacious room with a balcony to the river views. Good breakfast. Just across the road to DOC Michelin restaurant.
Cons: We had a creaky bed, not so comfortable. The elevator is only from first floor (not from street level) so there is no easy way to carry the luggage from the car to the hotel (very steep way or stairs to the first floor balcony, from which you can use the elevator).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The guy who checked us in was great. The woman who did breakfast and checkout was also lovely. Both of them were friendly and efficient.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The breakfasts were excellent and the location was delightful. The staff in particular were very pleasant and very helpful.
Cons: For me personally, I found access to the hotel a bit of a problem. The slope up to the reception area, which I had to access on arrival, was extremely steep. Although subsequently, with the internal lift system, this reduced the difficulty of the access from outside to a flight of steps, I still found this tiring at the age of 80 and had to rely entirely on the staff to manage my luggage which task I have to say they undertook very willingly.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff was exceptional

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property, clean comfortable and quiet. Location great to access all the valley has to offer.
Cons: Nothing to complain about.
7.0 Good
Pros: We booked it last minute and arrived around 9:30pm. We didn't have time to enjoy the pool or the surrounding areas of the property because of that.. The lounge area was very cozy with a fireplace and seating spaces. We spent some time there planning our next day activities. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was decent with a nice view.
Cons: The shower head wouldn't stay in place once water was turned on... I had to hold it with my arm all the time! this is something they can fix pretty quickly and it not influencing my rate of this property. Hotels in general seems not to care about decent pillows, this one included.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything
7.0 Good
Pros: The inn was very clean and the location had a great view. Very accommodating staff. We had dinner the first night and we were given a choice of three entries. Very well prepared meal. Breakfast was also very good with many choices.

Cons: Coffee in the breakfast, wasn't good at all (the espresso was OK)
5.4 Okay
Pros: Not so clean, diner was bad, breakfast was nice
6.7 Good
Pros: The position
Cons: I wish we could get past the idea that a bathroom without a door is a cool idea! It makes the whole experience of sharing a room , even with your husband of 25 years just uncomfortable. Especially when the shower is a glass panel ( with a partial obscured panel) into the bedroom.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: At first we were given a room before it was cleaned but the staff were very nice and changed our room quickly.. there are a lot of wineries nearby, I suggest you book it beforehand.. the breakfast and dinner were great, there’s parking for free at the hotel

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location, staff very friendly and welcoming, food excellent.
Cons: Uncomfortable beds, old / lumpy pillows - could definitely do with replacing!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful slightly remote independent traditional manor house with superb antique decorations, historic feel and fabulous surroundings and views. Very comfortable and very nice staff helpful in everything. Original as well as traditional, attention to detail, beautiful dining room where everyone sits on one large table and great food is served (most from own garden). Magic peaceful surroundings. If you'd like to read a book with a glass of wine and hear nothing else then the crisping fireplace and the light snoring of the dog; this is the place. Semi family run with very hard working people. Wonderful.
Cons: Nothing as its beauty is that its not part of a chain, concept or franchise. There is no gym, no spa (there is an outdoor pool but not heated) or childeren's facilities. Please keep it that way ;-) Peace and Quiet.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location in a historic home. the staff didn't seem to be too happy but certainly not rude at all, just not very welcoming. Cool history of the house and unfortunately we arrived late and left early but i would definitely stay here again to do some more exploring.
Cons: Staff could be a bit more welcoming. We also didn't know the bed was in a loft only accessible by stairs and my mother has a bad back. No mention of accessibility for that room which would have been nice. There was a single bed on the main floor but we preferred to sleep in the bigger beds upstairs. Beautifully decorated and spacious room though.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything , the history , the character , the people , the hotel and vineyard. Special mention to George who looked after us . A wonderful winter retreat . So peaceful and beautiful. Luna the dog also gets special mention . What a superb way to spend our last 2 days in Portugal.
Cons: Nothing.
6.3 Good
Pros: The property and the surroundings are fantastic.
Cons: There were a few reasons why I booked a night in this hotel to celebrate a birthday. For example, the beautiful rooms, which were shown on the website, a large terrace with a great view over this beautiful place and a wonderful dinner. Unfortunately for the same reasons, I was disappointed. The rooms looked very different as shown on the website, rather gloomy then bright and magnificent. Furthermore a wedding was celebrated that was not mentioned during the booking process, only afterwards by chance, therefore the use of premises was limited and made us feel to be out of place. I booked a spot for the offered wine pressing on the phone, which has not been existing for a while, as they told me later, on arrival. The dinner was a buffet, as it turned out to be a slight downer for the price.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful old manor house, gorgeous gardens
Cons: A little remote
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We were the only guests in the hotel and were extremely well looked after by George ! We enjoyed the beautiful location and the dog was made extremely welcome. The dining room was beautifully festive and the food was good and the local wine and port was very drinkable.
Cons: Although the dog was made welcome it was quite expensive at 25 euros.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location. Very nice main building with nice areas for guests. Nice big dogs. We loved the living rooms with big open fire places. Fun detail that all items in the hotel have a price tag and can be bought. Nice garden.
Cons: The room in the lower garden was not so nice. Far away from main building and very dark pathway. Also no wifi in these rooms and very slow wifi in main building.

Pros: Wow, gorgeous property, sorry I didn't stay longer to enjoy the spa and fitness area.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location, the view from the room and the property was insane. Staff was very friendly and helpful, giving advice on how to walk around the property's vineyards and accommodating to our needs. Room is medium size, but nice and clean. Comfortable bed.
Cons: The water in the shower was going down very slowly, looks like the pipes haven't been cleaned in a while. We also found the room to be quite cold (we came in December), and the maximum temperature didn't help much. The heater (coming from an air con) was quite loud, so my husband couldn't sleep at night, and made the air very dry.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location, the history of the estate explained on boards round the estate. The owner who was very friendly and got us to sample some of his ports. The food which was simple and tasty
Cons: The power lines
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent place for a stay Beautifully located Just beware of the Google map directions Use the pave road in and not the dirt road which Google automatically selects to get in
6.0 Good
Pros: Staff was very friendly.
Cons: There are high voltage power lines that surround the property. The rooms were dusty and the pillows need to be replaced.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My wife and I loved everything. The owners Victor and Leonor were incredible in politeness, attention and receiving. The property is not easy to find but is cozy, nice, loving. We pass with them the eve of the New Year because was impossible to leave the property because of the fog. It was incredible a very nice surprise. We had a party in another place but canceled it. God guides us on that. The staff was incredible, the food great. We started the New Year dancing something I haven't done for years. I do recommend it warmly to any couple that want to spend some days inside a vineyard and seeing the marvellous scenery of Douro vineyards.
Cons: It is not a problem of disliking. The weather outside was bloody cold and was impossible to walk along the property and between the vineyards. Inside the house was much better.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was amazing – went so far as to come find us and direct us back when we couldn't find the property in the dark. Breakfast was spectacular and felt so personalized to our needs and tastes. Overall, there is not a single thing that could have made this experience better. It was exceptional.
Cons: Loved everything.

Pros: Beautiful room with great view over the vineyards of the Douro Valley. The owners and staff were so welcoming and helpful with everything. Breakfast was varied and substantial with plenty to choose from. Our dog was particularly made welcome.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: A very interesting location, leaned over the Douro Valley. The hotel seems to be brand new and is a nice adaptation of an old wine farm. It has a familiar touch to it, being a bit smaller than I had expected but that was quite alright. The bed and the pillows were very comfortable.
Cons: The room felt a little bit small for the category of the hotel and so did the swimming pool (which, in the end, was not really a problem because I didn't use it). The power cables across the valley take away a part of the magic of the landscape but that is clearly not the property's fault.

The wines are very good, as is the family restaurant in Regua - unusual small plates and local dishes. We would love to return.

Pros: Lovely stay at a family run B&B. The staff were fantastic, they picked us up from the train station and gave us some great recommendations. The location was peaceful and it was nice to relax in the pool with some of the wine made there. I would definitely recommend a stay here.
