Dunollie Hotel - Portree - Building
2
6.5 Good (1,643 reviews)
Overview Reviews
The Dunollie Hotel is set by the serene waterside of Broadford Bay, at the foot of the mountains that lead to the famous Cuillin Hills. With 84 en suite bedrooms, a bar and restaurant, it is perfectly placed to explore an area rich in history.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: It was in a very convenient location; very easy to access the rest of Isle of Skye.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: reception stuff very friendly and helpful.
Cons: The bar was shut early as they were not busy. when i asked why, because it was quiet and i can use the lounge bar if i wanted. which is not wat they advertise.
6.0 Good
Pros: The hotel food was pricey for what it was. Basic fayre.
Cons: Lots of noise from corridor and room above.
7.1 Good
Pros: Price; location; very walkable
Cons: Made a special request for check-in at 3:00pm. Denied. Then watched couple check-in at 3:00pm behind me. Do you possibly think they would only have all the rooms only cleaned, at one time? That housekeeping employs 10 people for 2 hours to make sure all rooms would need to be available at once; that no rooms would have been cleaned before 3:00pm? How many guests made such"special requests" on this day? Finally, do you think a person who makes such a request and is denied, would give their custom to such and establishment for a dinner reservation and a 9£ breakfast the next day? Or is it more likely they would spend 35£ elsewhere, i.e. at the other hotel in town, where they might be (were) treated with more personal service? Ask the manager here to re-think this scenario. It is late October, not mid August.

Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: From the moment we arrived we had friendly helpful staff taking care of us The evening meal and breakfast were excellent Rooms all newly decorated and view outside amazing
Cons: The restaurant lacked a bit of cosiness newly decorated and well done but having a working fire in there would have given it another level When we came back from a meal out and wanted a nightcap went into the bar which isn’t particularly comfortable and asked if they could put another log on the fire told it was against H&S to let fires go past 9pm it was just coming up to 9pm and -1 degrees outside!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a lovely boutique country house hotel. We stayed just after Christmas over a weekend and the weather in Skye was not kind to us! However the excellent staff provided a very warm and genuine welcome as did the roaring fire. The food in the hotel is excellent. We had a couple of issues such as the boiler going off (so not hot water), it was all managed very professionally and was fixed quickly. We had nothing to complain about at all and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Cons: The room type we choose was quite modern and it was part of an extension to the building. Our room at the end smelled a little damp and it may have been useful for it to be warmed prior to our arrival. The bathrooms are also tiny while the room is quite generous. Nothing much can be done about that but I would select a room in the main building next time. However these rooms had the advantage of very few stairs which was good it you have heavy bags.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location and staff, cheeky upgrade made it perfect
Cons: Bar shut at 11, but happy for us to sit on Nothing really not to like
6.5 Good
Pros: Locals drinking in the bar made the evening more enjoyable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful location. Beautiful rooms and welcoming staff.
Cons: Nothing.
Flodigarry Hotel And Skye Restaurant - Portree - Bedroom
4
8.4 Excellent (751 reviews)
Overview Reviews
On the Isle of Skye, Flodigarry Hotel and High Tide Restaurant offers accommodation in a country house sitting on a hill and offering sea views towards the Torridons and Scottish mainland. The hotel and 18th-century cottage are surrounded by ancient woodland and gardens on the Quiraing. Individually decorated, all rooms offer en-suite facilities and a TV. They are located in the main house or in Flora Macdonald’s cottage, just a few minutes’ walk away. Some rooms feature a four-poster bed. At the Flodigarry Hotel and High Tide Restaurant, guests will sample regional and seasonal produce and enjoy mountain and sea views by the log fire. Free WiFi is available throughout. Guests can enjoy a whole range of outdoors activities such as wildlife walks, guided mountain and geological rambles, fishing or boat trips or simply relax with a book by the log fire in the lounge.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Stunning views from tiny bedroom window with a bench beneath, breakfast room and hotel forecourt. Good standard breakfast. Attentive staff. Well heated room, cosy, well laid out, compact (we stayed in Flora McDonald's cottage loft extension, rather than the hotel building) - standing hight in the middle about 190cm, sloping ceiling both sides. Cosy bar with excellent service.
Cons: Personally, I would have preferred standard shower cubicle where one would be able to stand. Provided was a sit down bath with shower. Satellite TV with unacceptably poor reception on half of channels. Lounge mixing rustic and luxury furniture.
7.0 Good
Pros: The setting and reception staff
Cons: Mold in my tub, size of room, the food was acceptable but not at all at the level i expected for their going rate I would not stay there again
5.4 Okay

7.5 Good
Pros: With the exception of the political badges adorning their chests the staff were friendly and helpful.
Cons: We did not appreciate being served by people wearing political party badges upon their chests. Regardless of which ever political party anyone supports serving the public in a hotel should not become an advertising ground for political causes.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good value and excellent food for dinner and breakfast. A remote location, which was expected in the west of Skye but the driveway into the hotel is in poor condition. The Wi-Fi is free but restricted to 1 or 2 rooms on the ground floor and boosted coverage to the bedrooms would be beneficial.
Cons: Wi-Fi coverage and the access drive.

Pros: Great stay, nice and quiet, very comfy bed. My room was a single at the back of the house with no view but I was out for the day so it was ok for me. I had a great 2 days here. It is right in the centre overlooking the harbour. Beautiful.

Pros: On arrival I was welcomed by the owner Eddie, who showed me to my room 5, even carried by bags upstairs, lovely room, nice and warm with a view out to the harbour, excellent!, later I discovered the shower wasn't working,)(technical fault), immediately Eddie came up and transferred me to an even better room 8 with a double bed, fantastic as I was a solo traveller, great sleep, so peaceful and quiet. Pros: Location wonderful. Hostess just lovely. Very clean. With great tea and coffee station

Pros: The room was comfortable and spacious, as was the bathroom. It was right next to lots of food options and the supermarket for getting supplies to head out on the road for the day.
Cons: There was a strong smell of incense or something like that in the property. That particular smell makes me feel ill, but we aired the room out and it was no bother

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very Morden and stylish decorations
Cons: None
6.7 Good
Pros: The breakfast was very good and the location fine.
Cons: We would have liked a bit more colour in the room and either bedside tables or a shelf to put clocks, etc. on without having to jump out of bed to have a look at the time. The shower was a bit of a nuisance in that you got a hairwash whether you liked it or not. Now-a-days we are asked to use soap rather than plastic bottles so even a small bar of soap would be helpful.
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast was lovely and restaurant was sold out for dinner! They gave us a nice recommendation for dinner options within walking distance of the hotel.
Cons: An elevator would have been helpful as stairs were narrow.

We enjoyed the delicious breakfast buffet and made to order eggs each day. The property was located less than 10 minutes from Portree where we could find a handful of dinner options and shops. 6.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was brilliant. Location was fantastic. Room was warm and cozy.
Cons: I didn't sleep well as I could hear everything from the room above, the room to the side of me and everything in the corridor. Loud guests were shouting in the hallway during the evening. That's not the hotels fault, but I just felt the sound proofing between rooms was non existent. Also someone got drinks from the bar and charged it to my room. Reception did remove the charges from my final bill in the morning but that never should have been able to happen.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hostel was clean and everything was very close. The staff were nice and helpful.
Cons: The pillows were too hard. They should fix the bathroom door (we were not able to lock it properly). The water should be warmer.

Pros: It overlooks the waterfront and is a stone’s throw from town centre. Very clean and super friendly staff.
Cons: Minor niggle was a little noise, but more down to other guests that the accommodation (the self-closing security doors make a little alarm sound if they don’t close properly - to alert the last person through to close the door properly. It woke me a couple of times).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Striking up conversation and giving recommendations for Skye. The Facilities were great too. Full kitchen with complimentary coffee and tea (my room even had a kettle and stocked coffee and tea!). I'll be recommending this place to anyone that goes to Skye and if I ever return I will surely stay here.
Cons: Had some issues with my key not working and a sketchy roommate but the staff handled both excellently
