Pros: The location is excellent! It is walking distance to the train station as well as to most all there is to see within the walls of the city. The staff were exceptionally helpful especially the manager who helped to assist me towards mailing a parcel, Thomas who is a wonderful conversationalist and the lovely lady at breakfast and yes breakfast was wonderful too! The whole staff were all helpful and wonderful! It is not a big place which adds to it’s charm, it has character and is modern and very comfortable at the same time. I would stay here again and also recommend it!

The hotel staff was most helpful, made several dinner reservations and we were always greeted with a smile and good day.
The morning breakfast was delicious and a great way to start the day of sightseeing with a hearty breakfast.

Pros: We greatly enjoyed our four night stay in Palazzo Alexander in Lucca. We found the hospitable staff to be genuinely kind & helpful, notably Cesare who was particularly attentive to our needs. The hotel has an excellent location within the city walls - all attractions are easily reached on foot and strolling along the ramparts is part of the pleasure. The train station is about a 15 minute walk. A day trip to Pisa by train is quick (25 minutes), inexpensive, and well worth the effort. We found the hotel to be clean & well maintained. It is attractively furnished in period decor suggestive of renaissance style. Our room was quite spacious as was the bathroom which featured a large tiled shower. There was ample hot water plus fluffy large towels kept warm and dry on a heated rack. Despite the January chill, the temperature in our room was always comfortable. We slept well on mattresses which were firm & supportive. We were pleased with the quality and array of choices offered for breakfast. The coffee was exceptionally good. We would highly recommend this hotel for a very pleasant and comfortable stay in lovely Lucca.

Cons: We stayed in a new rooms they had taken on this year. Our room was very spacious, comfortable and had a nice bathroom. I didn't like the noisy heating system. There are quite a lot of steep steps to get there so anyone with problems doing stairs should beware. There are still a lack of hooks for coats in the room. They have started making their own breakfast pastries. While the tarts and bundt cake were very good and even looked professional, I wasn't a fan of the homemade brioche. I prefer the pastry store bought Italian brioche they used to have and wish they still served the local specialty, Buccellato, like they used to.

Pros: Wonderful breakfast, friendly staff. Close to the train station. Room was small but adequate.
Cons: Rooms were so dark you couldn’t see well even with every light on. Dark parquet floor needed cleaning/scrubbing badly. Stain on bedspread looked like blood. Bed was cold even with the 2 blankets I still had to put on socks. Heater would not come on. Noise from other occupants coming and going.

The location is excellent, 50m from the train station and within 10min you're in the busy city centre. The reception was very nice, very friendly welcome and even got a small gift for New year's when we left. Breakfast was good as well, just ask for real coffee. Can definitely recommend this hotel!

Pros: simple family run hotel, attention to details, rooms spotlessly clean, good breakfast with wide choice of sweet and salted alternatives, small children area available. we were in town for a fencing competition of our son and the position just outside of the town walls and easy parking were very convenient for our needs. the owners are friendly and very nice.

Cons: The doors are quite thin, so you hear people talking through. Fortunately there were no people who did that tonight :). Room is a bit small if you have more than two suitcases.
