Upon arriving you are greeted with a fresh juice. The staff was extremely helpful and honest when recommend activities in the area. Great variety of both local and comfort food. Walk anywhere in town. Was not in gps. Driving there at night is very very difficult.
The hotel is beautiful! The view is amazing especially from the upper buildings where you can see all the way over the mountains to the the gulf and to guanacoste in the distance. The rooms were very nice and very comfortable beds and very clean. They have their own hiking trails at the top and it was wonderful to hike at our leisure through the cloud forest. They have their own zip line but we did not try it, but it seemed a nice quiet option compared to others. We saw lots of wildlife right there at the lobby and the dinner at the restraint was amazing! We talked about it the rest of our trip! And service in the restaraunt combined with the atmosphere definitely makes it a fine dining experience. The hotel is also a nice distance from town. The amenities are very nice. We would consider staying here again. The only negatives to this hotel were actually minor ones that would have just made it a more perfect experience overall. The fact that it is in such a large area they use shuttles to take you from one location to another. It is extremely steep and long to walk/hike especially to upper buildings with the beautiful view, so the shuttle is almost mandatory unless you are in excellent shape. They are more than happy to shuttle and most times are timely except there were a couple of times that we needed to wait up to 15 minutes for the shuttle. Otherwise the shuttle service was very good. The breakfast buffet was very nice but the view from the big beautiful window is the staff parking lot and bushes. It was a shame it didn't have a view, but I suppose you can't always have the exceptional view. The family pool/workout area was very nice and under an open canopy. The pool was a somewhat comfortable temperature but it was very cold with the night mountain air blowing in and there was no hot tub which could have made it a nicer experience.
The view is amazing, room was beautiful with vaulted ceilings; the view from anywhere on the property is amazing; staff was friendly, food was good- no complaints- the resort is on a steep hillside, it's really not an issue ( 40 second drive from the bottom or 3-5 min slow walk to our room 3/4 of the way up the property) -shower is like niagra falls and as hot as you can stand- my wife had no complaints and that is amazing - two thumbs up from Santa barbara ca. The Grass was too green, too many rainbows in the distance , sky was too blue, Saw too much ocean From our deck/ lanai :) Our girls had too much fun ( 4 and 7 ) - the room was too big Don't hesitate, go. I've stayed in some pretty nice places and this one won't disappoint, despite a few reviews I read before going ( I'm still spoiled living in Santa barbara ca and have some reasonable expectations, my wife on the other hand sets the bar very high and had no complaints which was shocking- even she was shocked when she said it )
The grounds are beautiful. Awesome views. Good jungle trails. You can even zip-line on the premises. Rooms are large, well furnished and clean.
hotel facilites, as well as breakfast was great the clerk at the front desk was often unkowledgable about local acitivies, and we even had to call our previous hotel's front desk to arrange our monteverde activites. at other times, the clerks were misinformed and gave ur factually incorrect information
Food, area, amenities were great. Shower head was crazy, shower did not drain, no tv in room. Gustav was a great waiter and day front desk was wonderful. Night front desk and night waitress lacked personality.
Beautiful garden. Clean and comfortable room despite the humidity. No insolation btw cabins, awaken everyday at 6am by our neighbours. Very basic breakfast. Front desk staff very cold and not offering any help or suggestion for the region.
The staff was very courteous and helpful. They had a breakfast included that was excellent with a nice variety of different things each day. Breakfast could be had indoors or out on a patio with a nice view. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable, and amounted to a mattress on a frame that had no box spring. There were no comfortable chairs or a patio one could sit out on, unless you went over the the main building. Our room was in the building next to the main building and it looked it had been hastily sided with with aluminum siding and a tin roof. Although there is a view, the windows can not be opened making the place a greenhouse without any vents; there wasn't even a bathroom exhaust and it was obvious the place was not insulated. So with no air conditioning, and unable to even open a window, and only a single floor stand fan the place was unbearable in the daytime. Before returning from our days activities we had to open the door and position the fan to blow in as much cool air as we could. With some improvements on the issues I've mentioned it could be a nice place. The room itself was low on the scale of what I'd call "the basics."
I would highly recommend Belcruz B&B to anyone traveling to the Monteverde area. Our room was spacious and spotless. It was just two of us but there were two rooms that could easily accommodate 4 people. The owner put a lot of time and thought into the landscaping and property. I enjoyed the little hike between the rooms and the restaurant. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent. My favorites were the homade granola and jam. The hospitality of the owner was some of the best I've encountered anywhere. He was genuinely happy to have us there and went out of his way to accommodate. A great value overall. I will stay here again if I return to the area. No complaints.
