9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff and facilities were fabulous and the location for the port is excellent. Lovely walks along the beach and the town is perfect for a wander. Evening dinner was tasty too.
Cons: I thought it was a little expensive for the type of room we had but we did book last minute.
7.5 Good
Pros: Wonderful location. Good facilities and very clean. Reception service was prompt and friendly. The room rate was good value and the sea view from the view was fantastic.
Cons: Restaurant food was uninspiring and poor value for the price. Service was friendly and prompt but a little too prompt so felt like a cafeteria service. There were also a couple of basic errors in the service such as mixing up our orders.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good breakfasts, especially if you take into account how it typically looks in France. Two "cool features": freshly squeezed orange juice (other juices were very good as well) and hot chocolate. I would also like to mention nice coffee (both: "breakfast" one and from coffee machine). Polite and very kind personnel. The one can say that hotel requires some renovation but you can still feel good in hotel's premises. The smell from bathroom is not very pleasant but I must say that the hotel is very clean. As it can be easily seen from the map, the location was very good. Private and complimentary parking must be mentioned as a plus as well. Very good restaurant in the nearby (Jo et Jack). I would really recommend! I will not be looking for any other hotel, if (when) I get back to Normandy.
Cons: Musty smell from bathroom. However, the bathroom is very clean. Lack of coffee machine in the room. Quite uncomfortable beds (very hard).
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Amazing Location near beach, restaurants and ferry. Air con. Ease of parking.
Cons: Generally felt like 3*.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Loved the location and the friendliness of the staff. It is next to the beach and to the city, so easy access to both. Easy parking and perfect for morning/night walks.
Cons: Nothing.
ibis Styles Ouistreham - Ouistreham - Building
2
8.1 Excellent (2,822 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Aquarium, sea floor, lounging on the beach. from port to starboard, the works of Gilgogué on the horizon. We scour the ship's corridors, lighting effects, vivid colors. Then to the floors. A bridge, passageways, a gangway. We arrive at the cabins. Seashell ottomans, water-drop sconces, it's all here! A glance through the porthole and we can even see sea life in the watercolors of Alexandre Palavasson. Like a fish in water, we are swept away by the waves!
6.0 Good
Pros: It was very convenient for the ferry and had very good, secure, parking at a reasonable rate.
Cons: The room was very cramped. Only one spare pillow provided. The heating didn’t work, and you had to switch on a mini heater in the bathroom , for 10 minutes, to get warm water. I have stayed in lots of Ibis hotels , all very good. This one needs attention.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed was comfortable, and the facilities in the room, and bathroom were very good. The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The restaurant was good, and the food also.
Cons: I like a hot shower, and unfortunately the room that I was in, was some way from the hot water source, and had to wait sometime before the water was hot enough to use. Even then, it could have been hotter.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed and sofa bed were very comfortable.
Cons: Would of liked to have been able to purchase a snack or evening meal.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location and friendly staff
Cons: Room was a bit small
8.0 Excellent

6.7 Good (1,377 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel L'Ecailler in Ouistreham, you'll be by the sea, within a 15-minute drive of Caen Memorial and Ouistreham Beach. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Limited parking is available onsite.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: A very good place to stay (5 minutes from the Caen/Portsmouth Ferry) if you are travelling cross channel. The staff are very helpful, the rooms very clean (although French style basic). It is reasonable price wise being middle of the road. Food (restaurant) was very good and again reasonable in price. Having stayed here the same time last year I must say that I think the rooms must be allocated on a first come first served basis based on arrival time rather than when you book. This is based on the fact that although I booked around the same time in both years last year I was very late in arriving (ie about 2100) and got a smallish room "up in the gods" on the 3rd floor whilst this year I arrived at about 1400 & got a larger room on the 1st floor. This last piece of information is purely for your information and is not denigrating the hotel in any way. On both occasions the food and staff attention was excellent. Will I stay there again - definitely as a) it is one of the most convenient hotels for the cross channel ferry, b) it is perfectly acceptable for an overnight stay to/from the ferry & c) it is reasonably economical within acceptable limitations
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Basic Hotel but perfect location for us coming out of the evening boat. Staff very friendly and helpful, very late arrival wasn't a problem. Beds very comfy, spacious 3 beds room, clean and quiet.
Cons: something needs to be done about the bathroom "door"
5.0 Okay
Pros: Good self service breakfast, plenty of choice.
Cons: My room was on the top floor l had asked For a room on the 1st floor. My room was small and looked as if it was not used too often. Only l bedside table, had to used chair as other Side table was part of the headboard. Will not use again unless they can guarantee A first floor roomm

Pros: We enjoyed our stay and staff were specially helpful and friendly. Excellent location for exploreing the seaside town. Ours was a budget bedroom, so small and bathroom was awkward to move around for a couple of 70 yr olds! Recommend it highly.
Cons: Bathroom.
5.4 Okay
Pros: The staff were friendly and good location to port
Cons: The room was freezing cold. Although we changed rooms it didn’t really help. They did let us have an extra heater but it took hours to warm . Water not hot enough. Bathroom very tired and extremely cold!

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Food was excellent, as was the service.
Cons: Time to do a little decorating I think.
7.5 Good
Pros: The hotel is in a former Villa named after the street it is on and is close to the beach. At the back is a large garden with some tables and chairs and a safe parking. Reception was friendly and my room was basic but otherwise ok. The bathroom was a bit smallish. Free WiFi internet worked well The breakfast buffet was nice with bits of everything Ouistreham is at the start of the so called D-day coast and there is an interesting museum in a former German WW2 bunker and a memorial at the beach

Pros: Access for the port.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Tous
Cons: There are very few English channels on the tv. Brittany ferries have a mix of English and French.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was very clean and welcoming. The breakfast was great with a variety of hot and cold options and I liked the location - it was 3 minutes from the ferry and a much better night's sleep than the onboard cabins of an overnight ferry at pretty much the same price!
Cons: Not the end of the world but parking was a bit difficult with a car & trailer. I had to uncouple and use two parking bays outside the hotel. However, there was plenty of parking and this is being a bit critical!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff. Comfortable lounge and very good breakfast. Restaurant nice if a bit expensive
7.1 Good
Pros: Breakfast was good. The hotel is functional.
Cons: This is a functional place. We asked for a quiet room away from the car park and road. We were given a room beside the road and carpark. It was noisy at times

7.0 Good
Pros: Walking distance to shops bars and restaurants.
Cons: Hotel bar closes early.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spotless room, overlooked a main thoroughfare, very charming. Would definitely stay again.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Location good. We didnt have breakfast as we had to leave to catch an early ferry.
Cons: This is a minimalist hotel staffed for only a few hours a day. The room furnishings were very basic and would be uncomfortable for a stay longer than one night. Rather short beds. The lavatory seat fell to pieces the first time it was sat on! The check-in lady was cheerful and helpful. Only five parking spaces available at the rear.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean room, very clear communication with staff. Covenient for the ferry and own parking.
Cons: Hotel generally in need of refurbishments. Breakfast average. Breakfast room somewhat draughty!
6.7 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: We booked a room with double bed. We were first given a room with single beds pushed together plus bunk beds. It was a hostel type room. We immediately asked for a different room we were given a double bed which was like a camp bed nearly on the floor. So uncomfortable and no tea/coffee, hair dryer without having to ask for them that was stated on the booking
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great staff. Bar attached to the hotel. Location is great. Can walk to restaurant, shops and the ferry.
Cons: The rooms are quite hot but it's fine if you open a window. We went in February and thought it was hot. It's just the design of the pipes in the rooms
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room, balconies, friendly staff. Location excellent. Good value.
Cons: The bathroom needs updating, but everything was clean and not a big problem.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super friendly staff and perfect place to stay en route to or from the ferry. The food is delicious and great value too. We love staying here. Huge thanks to everyone for making us welcome once again. À bientôt!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, although aspiring British immigrants outside can be a bit frightening. Room was small, but perfectly adequate for a one night visit. All basically fine.
Cons: Our only niggle is that the breakfast is very old-fashioned, reminding us of our first visits to France in the 1970s! But it was good. Time has, alas, made us want something a little more varied!!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location and cheerful staff. Excellent dinner. Comfy bed and good hot water. Ideal for the single night we need en route from the ferry to our home in the Dordogne.
Cons: Room is small, but we knew that. OK for a single night, but not so good for a longer stay. Decoration a bit old - but that doesn't matter for a single night either!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good friendly staff and great food. Well located for the ferry.
Cons: Nothing

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I like people so kind people so friendly people so happy I I like it
Cons: I don't like people putting smoking after putting in the flour dad is running on no respect the nature
9.2 Excellent
Pros: I made booking for my friends. They were satisfied by price and helpful staff
Cons: Guests faced with bad wifi connection
5.0 Okay
Cons: Supply towels, we had to go and buy towels to take a shower and wash hands.
7.0 Good
Pros: All good
Cons: Nothing
4.0 Okay
Pros: I was looking for a cheap room and the quality was acceptable
Cons: Noisy. The closest guests spoke loudly, and made noise when walking through the halls. I slept in a bunk bed, which never had the bedding in place, I did a job that the hotel had to have done
8.8 Excellent
Pros: I travelled on a motorcycle so the location was perfect. There's a supermarket nearby to do all your necessary shopping, rooms are clean and tidy, beds comfy. Staff very helpful - there was a huge group of french teenagers staying at the same time and making more noise than I could imagine, so for my own comfort they gave me a room in the most quiet wing of the hotel :)
Cons: Toilets/shower rooms are more like the ones you'd find on a train. I get the idea but still - too wet inside and a bit too dirty. Hot water turns off way too fast.
6.0 Good
Pros: My first thought at arriving (4km from town and 20e by Uber - there are only a few drivers in the town) was that of having made a very great blunder. However, with a bit of research regarding public transport (next to non-existant on Sundays) the place became tolerable. The #2 bus takes one to within 15 minutes (walking) of the palce and the 6a, from the rainway station, to a drop point that is very close to the hotel. 6b, on the other side of the road, takes one through town to the railway station. There is a supermarket and two reasonable restrurants within close walking distance and the breakfast, although basic, is adequate.
Cons: Apparently F1 hotels are a standard feature in France. They tend to be fequented by families that are travelling and have thier own transport. The rooms are adequate but basic with common ablution areas but no facilities for self-help coffee or tea other than primitive low-quality vending machines. As to the Wifi itself I would rate it as average-to-poor; particularly in the evenings with 30%+ packet losses but is acceptable (just) throughout the day.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The shower and wc are very nice
Cons: We found a couple of bedbugs in the pillow at midnight

Cons: This is not a 4star property. Room size is small. And sofa bed and double bed wasn't comfortable. The bin is very small for an apartment.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We ave stayed in Caen three previous times. Every tine, we booked someplace closer to William the conqueror’s Castel. The Adagio is only a block from the tram which took us everywhere we wanted to go. The apartments are well equipped. We cooked dinner in one night and fixed breakfast in our apartment every morning. The staff was super friendly and helpful.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff were extra helpful and friendly Good breakfast Great facilities
Cons: Smell in the bathroom
8.0 Excellent
Pros: good selection clean & tidy presentation
Cons: unable to obtain "proper"english tea & milk to enable a cup of tea to be made early morning. Not everyone likes Earl Grey and/or herbal teas they are just fancy brands. Neither the hand or bath towels were changed during our 3day stay.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Close center, Adagio mostly always nice, confort, space
Cons: girl receiving me was only busy looking at her computer, made me feel akward and uncomfortable. No real connextion
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location, close to the train station and a short walk for the city center. Nice room, more than enough for our one night stay before heading off to our road trip around Normandy.

7.9 Good
Pros: Reception. Decent room. Typical Novotel.
Cons: Pricey breakfast but decent food.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Reception staff were excellent - very friendly and helpful. Pool was very well needed after a hot day at Juno Beach. The restaurant food was lovely and the buffet breakfast was amazing - and the kids ate FREE! Thank you
Cons: nothing
7.9 Good
Pros: Room very comfortable and roomy Bed especially comfortable
Cons: Restaurant was not great. Weren’t told until after we’d ordered that there were other food choices available. Food we got was ok but very expensive ( my wife had a small bowl of pesto flavoured pasta for approx £13!) Have stayed in other Novotel where there were self service buffet options, much better.
5.4 Okay
Cons: The staff were friendly and very helpful and spoke good English , but there simply were not enough of them. Example both evenings there were two bus loads of people - at least 80 people - staying to see the WWII battlefields plus perhaps 30 other guests. There were only two waiters for the bus parties and one poor chap who was waiting on the other guests and also manning the bar (for all 100+ guests). Also on reception, only one person - very helpful but there were a lot of people waiting with queries. Too much cost cutting.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were particularly helpful in assisting with my little grandson’s needs. He has allergies and therefore there is a need for extreme vigilance. Owing to a car breakdown on their return journey I booked another room for them and the breakdown necessitated a further night’s stay. Throughout this time the staff immediately recognised my family and stepped forward to assist again - making a traumatic time less stressful. Many thanks to all - especially Sarah !
8.0 Excellent
Pros: breakfast was excellent
6.7 Good
Cons: Expensive, and the breakfast even more so.

Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, a 24-hour front desk, and an elevator. Free self parking is available onsite.
7.1 Good
Pros: Free parking, convenient location.
Cons: Firstly was a strange set up with checkin in, you had to use a self serve check in if it was between the hours of 1100 to 1700 as reception was not staff between these hours, self check in was simple enough but just strange. Once in the hotel room, a cleaner knocked but walked straight in with towels, didn’t even give me a chance to get up to answer the door. Breakfast consists of basically bread! When we wanted to check out, we couldn’t get actually leave the hotel as the doors wouldn’t open, luckily the window cleaner typed in the code from the outside to let us out, again no sign of anyone that worked there. At not one point did we see any reception staff at this hotel. Just a very strange set up!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: was ok
Cons: when we arrived,we had to wait about 10-15 min due to the phone conversation by the receptioner and finally without a sorry.....

Cons: Nothing
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Small beds but very comfortable. Breakfast was good.

Pros: Breakfast was good. Children loved the room.
Cons: The smell in the corridor is unpleasant.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, tidy, comfortable, good value
Cons: I arrived late at night on a motorbike, tired and cold which probably explains why I found the unmanned automated check in a little confusing. It wasn't clear at first which of the 3 references I had were needed for door entry.
6.0 Good
Pros: Affordable, clean
Cons: Air conditioning did not work and it was 90+...terrible!

7.0 Good
Pros: For people who are travelling and simply are looking for a place to spend the night, this hotel is perfectly located - there's quick and easy access to the motorway and to filling-stations close by. Since the hotel is located in a business park, there is no need to expect romantic or inviting parks for walks. It is pragmatically functional with a rich and well-balanced breakfast. The bread/croissants are fresh, the coffee is delicious but there's also tea on offer. The room we had was clean and quiet. The staff is very forthcoming, helpful and welcoming.
Cons: There's nothing to mention here, because for a budget hotel this place absolutely met my expectations with a satisfactorily big room, and a breakfast that is more than you usually get in a budget hotel!

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel on site Parking very easy to access and use even with a large estate car which was what I was looking for and is always important to me. The charges were very fair and the hotel let us leave the car whilst we had an interview after checking out. Much appreciated. The hotel has a nice luxury air with a wonderful atrium space used for meetings etc. It is clearly used by the local business community. There is a nice bar on site but no restaurant though there are plenty in the immediate vicinity. The room was typical with plenty of space and very clean. Colours used throughout are dark to give an air of opulence but some may find it not to their taste. There is a lot of nice artwork displayed. The buffet breakfast area is pleasant and the buffet itself of good quality apart from the coffee.
Cons: The coffee at breakfast. Not sure why but it was awful. Traditional mellita bean to cup machine so should have been ok but it was lukewarm and undrinkable. I did not raise it with the staff as I was rather preoccupied with my important rdv that day but there were plenty of staff on duty who were all friendly and they may have been able to make me some coffee had I asked! I understand why a hotel has showers over a bath but it feels old fashioned perhaps hotels could consider Italian shower or bath over shower like twin or double beds and offer clients a choice. But the shower functioned well.

Cons: Nothing
ibis Styles Ouistreham - Ouistreham - Building
