I reserved a standard and was given a minivan, which is substantially harder to manage on tiny French alleys and streets. On returning the car the passcode for the garage did not work, there were no attendants at the lot, and the only remaining spaces were so small I needed to exit through the back.Dollar

I tried to return the car to the underground parking garage at night and thought it was closed as there was closed metal door. I returned the next morning only to discover this is the regular door and it opens. If they had mentioned this i would have returned the car on scheduled day.10.0 Wonderful

Lyon staff provided same drop-off address in Paris as Budget website. In Paris, we brought the care to the drop-off address, staff yelled at us for not dropping off across the street from that address, told us we could not complete closing the reservation and they would get around to it after helping everyone else. Rude staff. Poor signage for location. Poor communication all around. Still haven't received any final information about our completed contract.4.0 Mediocre

the car was noisy and not fuel efficient. The staff was unwelcoming starting from the moment they realized I had booked from a broker in the US and was paying less than then French rentals. They took revenge by upselling me some insurance. I was not against it, but numbers really did not add up. It was not only more expensive, but also the EUR - USD fx rate did not make sense. I ended up paying double the amount I had initially booked. Also, there was a railway station tax which I also found out about, and when I challenged them again on this, they had no response other than a threat: "you know, we should cancel your booking because you are not a US resident but you booked through a US site". very nice...last but not least, I had to beg them to show me the car and bring me to it for a review. Initially, they did not want to come out of their cosy office. none in the office was very interested or concerned about me, and I was the only client...10.0 Wonderful

Pick-up lengthy and slow service, had to sign up to avis preferred service as they advertised to skip the line, agent tried to hassle with me but showed her their ads to skip their long lengthy slow service line which is so annoying after a 16 hours flight10.0 Wonderful

Pros:
Great to be able to get vehicle right in downtown Paris and easy drive out of the city. The agent was fantastic although the fact that we are never quite sure what additional insurance we actually need was it's usual source of stress. We rented an economy car and ended up with a beautiful and surprisingly fuel efficient Mercedes AMG.Cons:
We just don't love the whole last minute insurance pressure. Would be better if we researched better in advance. I think that we actually have enough coverage between our credit card and insurance from home.4.4 Mediocre

Pros:
I rarely rent from Sixt since they came up expensive usually, but I had this great offer and it was not listed as Sixt but rather FLIZZR. The car war new and clean, No issues with picking up the car, very helpful customer service as I had experienced in former encounters with Sixt. Also the customer service representative hinted clearly on all and any pre-conditions (scratches, small dents), which I would have never been able to detect, since the rental place at the Cologne airport is rather a dark parking garage. I was even able to get an automatic for a small additional charge ($5 a day).Cons:
The car, an Opel (Vauxhaul or General Motors), was supposed to be an automatic, but felt like a hybrid manual and had a very strange way to shift. Didn't shift smoothly, but I was stagnantly shifting, at least I did not have to shift manually.9.6 Wonderful
