Getting invoice when returning vehicleReviewed 5 May 2024

We reserved a Red Hyundai and instead received an EV for a day in which we were making a day trip to Normandy France. Instead of filling up gas once or twice, we had to charge our car five separate times, totaling over 2 hours in lost time. The car was also improperly inspected prior to our use of it, as the back right tire was underinflated, nearly causing serious injury and perhaps death due to its popping on the highway. Moreover, Hertz’s customer service was comically bad when this (their fault) happened. Imagine a world in which the operator responds to your plea with “I do not know what to do.” We live in that world. We had to, on our own, call a tow truck and deal with an auto shop in rural France, an extreme inconvenience to all involved. If friends ever ask which company to rent from in Paris, I will simply not answer Hertz.Reviewed 4 Apr 2024

We booked and fully paid for an automatic car with Hertz via Kayak. At that pick up Hertz said our booking was an electric car which wasn’t specified anywhere in our booking. We ended up having to top up 20-40 euros per day to get a petrol/diesel car: 20 euros additional for manual, or 40 euros additional for an automatic. Our booking specified automatic car but no use we had to pay extra to get an automatic petrol/diesel car.Reviewed 16 Jan 2024

Kayak messed up the booking. Did not let us know that we booked an electric car that was not suited for long drives. Hertz charged double to give us a non-electric car. It was a disaster and was Kayak's fault.Reviewed 4 Jan 2024

Initially they charged us 160 euros for some trash we left in the car, but when I called they removed the charge which was the right thing to doReviewed 28 Nov 2023

The car was fine. The pickup at Hertz Charles deGaulle Terminal 3 was terrible. Car wasn't near ready. Long, SLOW processing. I'd never rent from them again - at least not at that site.Reviewed 28 Sept 2023

Map and photos to aid car return at DeGaulle Airport in Paris was very helpful. Could have used a similar aid to help guide getting out of the airport when I girst arrived and picked up the car.Reviewed 13 Nov 2022

Both gentlemen at the rental counter at Gare du Nord and return counter at Charles de Gaulle were super helpful and friendly. We had missed our pick up the night before due to unforeseen circumstances. Even so, the gentleman the next morning was very accommodating and made sure we still had a great car for our day trip to Brussels. We realized on the way back to Paris that it would be easier/faster to return the car to CDG, even though we had rented under "return to original office" and after several frustrating conversations with the people at Hertz of France customer service we were able to get in touch with the Hertz CDG team and get the information we were looking for. So, in review: The counter staff at both Gare Du Nord, and CDG were very helpful and friendly and went above and beyond to make our experience great. The customer service staff at the main branch of Hertz sucked big time.Reviewed 12 Nov 2022

This hertz office was large immaculate and very well run. The ease of renting a car in paris proper rather than at the airport was worth it. Some of the online reviews are so old that they’re just wrong. I will only use this car rental spot for the next year in paris.. They could offer more automatic cars available to rent. Not sure why they only offer stick shift options? Also they should warn foreigners about the hundred of dollars in tolls they will have to pay. And I’m not exaggerating when I say hundreds. It’s obscene what they charge for tolls. It’s laughable. But that isn’t hertz fault however they should be more transparent about it.Reviewed 30 Oct 2022

BEWARE! We used Kayak to reserve a mini car, a SmartCar or similar. When we arrived in France, we had been assigned a mini - an ELECTRIC one. I have no issue with this in theory, but the car had only a 150 km range per charge, and charging would give us 15-20 km per hour of charging! This would never work for our purposes, and there were no charging stations at most of our hotels/gites. The staff could not seem to understand that this wouldn´t work for us, and then charged us four times the original cost to rent a diesel car, because they only had SUVs available. We had no choice, as we needed to get on the road, but when I checked my original rental paperwork, there was nothing to indicate that we would have limited mileage or an electric car. I would never book a rental car through kayak again, and I expect Hertz to compromise on the price of the car if I cannot drive it more than 150 km per day.Reviewed 12 Oct 2022
