10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly owners, making your stay as comfortable as possible and giving tips. Cute cottage with access to a fully equipped, clean kitchen which was very comfortable. Unfortunately weather was not so good during our stay so we weren’t able to use then boats. Overall a great stay!
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Extremely friendly and nice Guesthouse owners. Everything is very clean, nicely arranged, done with passion and love. We will definitely come back.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Best Hotel ever. Best comfort and clean Best owner Best food (please, book breakfast and dinner, you will love it) Best environment Best Sauna Best cycling (e bike option too!)
Cons: Just in case you are traveling by bus check first your options to get there and schedules. Taxi from Savonlinna (the nearest town) is about 35 euros.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hours for breakfast were long and the food was varied and delicious. The rooms, which resembled little cottages, were very clean, and the beds were comfortable. The hosts were friendly, helpful, and caring. Lots of available activities on the premises, but the weather stopped us from enjoying them. I would book again. On a neutral note: The B&B is located in the countryside. It's easy to get there by car. It was very quiet and relaxing, which was what we were looking for, but if we hadn't had a car, it would have been harder to get there.
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Comfortable well designed accommodation, an excellent breakfast buffet with lots of organic and home made choices and a great view. We loved the candles in lanterns put out around the grounds at night

There was a lovely footpath right outside that takes you Past the castle and into the town, very scenic walk. Also breakfast was very nice, in the main house which was nice to be inside of a real Finnish house. It was a generous spread of fruit, egg, hams, cheese, bread, cereal, sweets/cake. Very comfortable stay.
Cons: My husband had an argument with the shower curtain and would have liked a sofa to sit on but that’s being very picky! A lovely place to stay!

Pros: The host and hostess were exceptionally welcoming and accommodating. They deserve special mention. The breakfast was excellent. I would recommend this hotel without reservation!
Cons: The lake behind the property was beautiful and having a room on the lake would have been lovely. That said, we arrived late and were bound to leave fairly early so the added cost would not have been economical given our circumstances.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were the only guests at the day of our stay so we had the whole house at our disposal, and it was great! The house has just been renovated, everything is super fresh and super clean. The area is quiet and continental breakfast is a bonus. It's a pity that we stayed here only for one night...
Cons: There is a school and accommodation for immigrants next door. But it doesn't feel unsafe, we have barely seen them.
10.0 Excellent

My family and I are completely satisfied with the design of the room and organization of breakfasts. Even though we stayed during the weekend, there was no noise or disturbance. Staff are very kind and helpful, and rooms are always kept clean.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Extremely warm and friendly welcome, excellent location - easy distance to shops, restaurants and Savonlinna. Provided toys including bikes for visitors, which was lovely. Outdoor grill for use and easy parking.

Villa Aria - Savonlinna - Building
7
8.2 Excellent (241 reviews)
Overview Reviews
A stay at Villa Aria places you in the heart of Savonlinna, within a 5-minute drive of Savonlinna Market Square and Olavinlinna Castle. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is a great hotel, located at the heart of the city. Professional staff helped us with information about events and activities. Splendid breakfast! This hotel is worth your every penny.
7.5 Good
Pros: A very old lace I wouldn’t recommend
Cons: The place
9.3 Excellent
Pros: It’s an old building in Savonlinna, but clean. A bt remote yet, you can still walk to the old castle, well, Savonlina is not a huge place after all. A bit remote yet, cozy and I liked old style of in door structure. Some people my not like if they are looking for a standard type of hotel rooms.
Cons: Nothing indeed.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very atomspheric wooden building, which used to be a hospital building in old days in very eautiful location. Staff were always smiley and very friendly! The room was homey. Liked it!
Cons: It's no one's fault but the weather this summer has been unexpectedly, extraordinary hot even in nordic countries, so that the old hotel building was not prepared for it. The room was really hot to stay in when I checked in at 15.30 pm, the sun was shining straight from the big window and the curtains were too thin to cut the light and heat off, not even slightly... During the night it got cooler and was comfortable to sleep keeping windows open, but in an early morning, the sun started shinning straight on my pillow very strongly and the room got quickly very hot. Luckily I stayed for opera festival and didn't have to stay inside the room long at all, but if the curtain was "pimennysverhot" (light filtering curtains), maybe it helped. Just suggesting.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Historical building, good location, free parking
Cons: Wifi only available at reception
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Superior room with superior view to the castle, the same "Saimaan Mafia" runs nice restaurants near by, e.g. Waahto brewery restaurant next door. The building used to be an old military hospital, so there is plenty of room. In the superior room there was a kitchenette, but no dishes except cups and glasses. So take your own or get some from the local flee market for couple of euros, if you stay longer.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Nice breakfast. Nice staff. Amazing view from the room. Nice kitchen with small oven.
Cons: The toilet flash once every 20 minutes.
7.5 Good
Pros: Location next to the brewey
Cons: Part of room not as clean as it should have been.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hostess was extremely accomodating when we hit traffic and had trouble arriving in time before the check-in closing. The location was good and gave us a great base for exploring what the town had to offer.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It's got a free parking and it's right accross the fortress with everything accessible on foot. Our room was big.
Cons: The 3rd bed is -as often - a fold-up affair that is not the most comfortable. There is no kettle in the room to make tea/coffee.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Position, breakfast
6.8 Good
Pros: The location.
Cons: No bacon in breakfast, Room lacked soap/shampoo in shower. Empty plastic cups were not cleaned or forgotten on table.
6.3 Good
Cons: Tiny bed,too expensive
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location perfect. Room temperature comfortable.
Cons: Unfortunately the restaurant at the hotel could not offer vegan food, only sallad. Also I was missing alternatives for milk, no wheat-, rice-, soy- or coconutmilk or youhurt was available. Many people have different diets or allergies and alternative products should be available.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Shower is a little small, but I'm not actually very slim !!
Cons: Basic hotel but decent, clean & safe

Cons: A little bit run down. The balcony wasn't clean. Heating temperature too high. Curtain and not glass in the shower, so the bathroom's floor got wet. Breakfast with not a lot of choice on the sweet side
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spahotel is an amazing place - hotel, nature, food :) But a special thanks to Natalia at the reception, because of her we felt like at home! Definitely will be back again!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is on the island connected with city center by bridge. It is around 5 min walking to the city center and around 15 min from the castle. Pool and Jacuzzi combined with sauna were very nice. open from the early morning. Breakfast were ok.
Cons: Bathroom was smelling weird. I suppose they used some weird cleaning products.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: good place, friendly staff, basic breakfast, coffe terrible like everywhere in finland :) room was good and clean, pool is big. hotel is in a good and beutiful place.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very good staff and check in and out and storage of luggage in day of departure. Good breakfast. Sauna included albeit we didn't have time to use. Very very good location, especially for train station, literally 2 minutes walk..town only 5-10 minutes walk.
Cons: Hotel extremely outdated and so were rooms. One light not working in room
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location and Lake view. Rooms are a bit worn out but beds and linen ok and clean. The breakfast very basic but ok for the price. I recommend this hotel.
Cons: The hotel needs renovarion but this did not bother us for the price we paid.

Cons: Outside areas were little out of date.
8.3 Excellent

Pros: Excellent location. Clean hotel with all the basics. Very good breakfast.
Cons: There was some road works going on on the street and they started noisy works very early in the morning waking us up
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our room had a balcony overlooking the lake. The check-in staff gave us this room in response to my request for a nice view. When we were outside, and I looked up, I realized that we had the only balcony in the building! We truly appreciated this effort to please us. The front desk staff consistent helpfulness and patience. Great customer service!
Cons: Nothing.
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice location along the lake.
Cons: The room had a high temperature.
7.0 Good
Pros: The location was excellent
Cons: Old,no AC and No WiFi in the rooms. There were not blackout Courtains which is important in Summer when there is 24h daylight
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Charming staff and amazing breakfast buffet. Ideal situation for lake cruises and not so far from Railway Station, shops and the Castle. They cater for Coeliacs. Beautiful part of Suomi/Finland. Spacious apartment.
Cons: Noisy boys on motorbikes in car park outside our window. Had to ask for crockery and cutlery for our self-catering kitchen. No Wifi in room.
6.8 Good
Pros: best place in town
6.3 Good
Pros: The breakfast was one of the best I have had in Finland or anywhere in Europe.
Cons: There was no air-conditioning, that would have been nice ´cos it was above 30 degrees... Pillow was not good, at least for me. Hotel is quite outdated.
6.8 Good
Pros: The location in relation to the Opera in the Castle that night that was the reason for our visit to Savonlinna. The summer opera festival here is worth considering when planning a road trip out of Helsinki. Various restaurants nearby. Free street car parking is possible nearby - check the signs and times.
Cons: No air conditioning in the room and inadequate window curtains that let in too much light at night.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is conveniently located opposite the marina in the heart of Savonlinna. The staff were helpful. The room was a good size.
Cons: The wifi was only available in the hotel lobby. For 110 Euros p/n I would expect it throughout the hotel. The TV channels intermittently disappeared in the room. There is no air-conditioning in the rooms - there was a small fan in the room but it is not the same.
7.5 Good
Pros: breakfast not good

When you stay at Summer Hotel Vuorilinna in Savonlinna, you'll be near the beach, within a 5-minute drive of Olavinlinna Castle and Savonlinna Regional Museum.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Basic room. Cheap choice during the opera festival.
5.5 Okay
Pros: The location
Cons: No dark curtain in my room Bad timing especially during summer
6.3 Good
Pros: Close to the centre
Cons: Common bathroom
4.3 Okay
Cons: Beds werw awfull
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Looked like small nice village and spa was great.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast and nice location
Cons: No soap in the bathroom, quite bare bones accommodation but comfortable, quiet and clean!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast area is very nice and the breakfast is fine. Staff is frienly and efficient.
Cons: The hotel should control the wild parking that blocks rescue roads. This endangers the safety of hotel guests and has continued for decades! (photo). Always Finnish number plates, so do not blame neighbors!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, breakfast,
Cons: Reading light missing, High price for this type of accommodation.
3.0 Mediocre
Cons: Our room was not clean when we arrived, large clumps of dust and hair under the beds and other locations. When we mentioned this to the staff, they merely shrugged and said they argue with the cleaning company. The hotel takes advantage of the captive market in Savonlinna with high prices and poor amenities.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Location and breakfast
Cons: Not clean at all. At least soap could be placed and dust could be wiped off the shelves. No kettle, no coffee machine, no cups, no facilities. And too high price for such accommodation. City should consider building hotels for summer time and Opera festival instead of setting people into dormitories.
3.3 Mediocre
Cons: facilities are poor: neither TV nor wireless internet.
5.7 Okay
Pros: Wide room with terrace in a students' residence. There are no utensils in the kitchen but it is possible to warm precooked plates. The location is excellent, especially if you have views over the canal.
Cons: The price is excessive for this kind of hostel. In other cities, the offer is more wide and economic, Savonlinna seems to be more expensive.
6.3 Good
Pros: Beautiful surroundings and spa complex at best western casino
Cons: No
5.3 Okay
Pros: Location very convenient. Only a few minutes walk to center.
Cons: Definitely way too expensive. Possibly they want you to pay more because there is a kitchen.....but there's not one pan, dish or utensil so you cant use it all. Cheaper than an expensive hotel, but way overpriced.
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Summer Hotel Malakias in Savonlinna, you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Savonlinna Market Square and Savonlinna Tennis and Squash Center. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Clean and big rooms with kitchen. Comfy beds.
Cons: No wifi.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice quite place, I used it for second time and ready to be back again. Of course it's "minimalistic", no services, no breakfast and even no reception, but room is very wide, beds are comfortable, everything is clean. I also appreciate silence and view around. NB! Take your own dishes, cutlery, etc. if you want to use a kitchen, otherwise it's empty (equipped only with fridge and stove).
Cons: Price was high for such facility (100 EUR/night), but it's understandable for the Opera festival season.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The check in was quick and convinient. Rooms were simple but clean, enough storage capacity. Kitchenette was very good. Location was good - less than 5 minutes to the Central hospital and to a convinience store. Towncentre was in 20 min walking distance.
Cons: Although we knew it, there's no kitchen equipment, we still forgot to bring our own. So it would have been nice to find at least one plastic knife and plastic plate to sort the emergencies. Another thing - nowhere to boil the water - a kettle or a cooking pan would make sense if you happen to travel by plane and are planning to use plastic/disposable dinnerware only. Some people might get serious withrawals in the morning without the coffee. The plastic cups were provided, many thanks!
7.5 Good
Pros: Very quite surroundings. Car is obligatory if you choose to stay in Malakias. Everything except bed linen and towels you need to bring with you (including hangs for clothes and kitchen utensils). Very clean.
Cons: Nothing as we know the above peculiarities and be ready.
4.5 Okay
Pros: we had our own little apartment with private bath, and the views of trees and bushes from the kitchen window were nice
Cons: The communication with staff was bad. They never took notice of the well and early communicated fact that we did not carry a mobile phone and that we were dependent on wifi in the previous place. While one of the staff helped us overcome that when I phoned him via skype, he actually gave us the wrong information about the key access and we would have been pretty stuck if it hadn't been for the young woman who happened to attend to the key lock boxes when we arrived. She herself was pretty cheerless as well. Given the price, it was very very stingy not to have wifi in the place either. In fact, with wifi and the code displayed on the entrance, customers would have a much easier time sorting out problems that the staff had created.
7.5 Good
Pros: One of the chippest way to stay during Opera Festival in Savonlinna. Large and clean apartment - bedroom and kitchen, separate bathroom. Friendly staff.
Cons: Quite long way to the center. It'd be nice to have at least soap in the apartment.
4.5 Okay
Pros: The spacious room in a quiet place. A person at reception was very nice and kindly answered all our questions.
Cons: The hotel is located far from the city center. Savonlinna public transport is not good so you should either take a taxi or have your own car. The room was an apartment in a regular Finnish apartment building. However, there was just nothing in the kitchen or in the bath. No breakfast. No cups or kettle or smth in the kitchen. Not even a basic soap for hands in the toilet, just a small amount of gel for a shower. Very poor for high Finnish standards.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing really
Cons: - they charge like a **** hotel but offer a bad bad hostel - bad smelling hallways, kept my breath walking through every day - smelly bathroom - no cleaning of the room - no new towels - NO SOAP - NO WIFI (this is 2018...) Not even a kettle. If Spa Hotel Casino wants to offer a summer hotel (good!) and want you to pay for it like a ****-hotel, at least take care of some basic hospitality facilities. Shouldn’t be too hard (or costly)
5.8 Okay
Pros: The room was clean. It was Acceptable. The receptionist at the casino hotel linked to the summer malakis was extremely helpful. She looked up the times for the bus and told us how to get there. We were really appreciative for her help.
Cons: It was far from the centre although you can take a bus. The hotel should have provided more information about how to get there and how to access the keys. They didn’t provide any information about this prior to us getting there. There was a kitchen but it was located in the other building. It was very inconvenient. We were told that this is the accommodation for the students and it’s usually let out to tourist during their summer vacation.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: It had good kitchen facilities and was generally satisfactory. Good bathroom and clean beds.
Cons: It was very very hot, even with the windows open. And it's a bit of a walk from the town centre.
