Only one reason to visit this hotel - proximity to the Tatras, which are so close you can touch them. Hotel staff are surpisingly helpful too and the breakfast was good. Hotel is not 3 star in any way, shape or form. Do not be fooled by the apparently modern red/grey exterior, the inner courtyard reveals its true 60s origins. The refurb is v tacky: the walls are so thin you can hear everything in the next room, the lighting is badly situated and the showercurtain stank of stale cigarettes. The food at dinner was very ordinary. As a base for climbing/walking, its great, but this is no luxury spa!
The welness world is brilliant. After a long journey saunas, whirpool and relax zones are really great. Rooms are nice, hotel facilities (bowling, breakfest, internet) are also good quality. The hotel is located just few steps from a small railway station and about 10 minutes walk from the main train and bus station in the whole Vysoke Tatry area. Despite some small insufficiencies I would strongly recomand to go to this hotel. Additionaly we got a very nice discount at booking.com (we payed a half of a normal hotel price/doubleroom/night), so we enjoyed the whole stay and were more than satisfied. You can still see some particularities which need to be reconstructed or improved. Mostly bathroom. Although it looks very nice sometimes the toillet smelled a bit, and also the shower could be renewed.
Good location, nice wellness
very good restaurant and nice hotel stuff the bed was too short
Restaurant is very good value for money, bowling alley a good additional facility and the spa (once you get past the changing room). Location is handy for getting around (train station across the road). Bathroom disappointing (shower hook broken so couldn't stand under) and some odd smells from time to time from drain. Changing facilities for spa were poor and mixed sex. Reception staff could be more friendly.
we enjoy the staying every thing was lovely the spa was poor. the jakuzy small and no swiming pool. we could not enjoy it
The hotel's design,as well as the comfort in the room. The service at the desk.the room service. The comfortable of parking. Varity in breakfast.! The attitude of staff at the dinning room for forioners....waiting a long time for one elevator....the anability of joyning the "spa".
Hotel is in the midle of the ski resort. All the facilities were out of hotel ,could´t to use the pool, spa, tenis. Restaurant was not very good.
Nice view, clean room, design type, quiet and well designed room Service worse than 3*, very disapointed with front desk, very bad signs to hotel Palace Grand, swimming pool available only during day till 17h, closed on Sunday, definitelly would not recommend this hotel, especially for prolonged weekend. Breakfast till 9am but at 8:30 almost nothing on the table, very poor choice ... and it was in adjacent hotel, even though they had area for that right in the hotel Palace Grand. Service is definitely on 2* level, only equipment in the room corresponds to the proclaimed category.
We loved the lake view from our room and the large comfortable rooms full of every amenity. The breakfast was by far the best I had in Europe during our stay. The walk around the lake is very pleasant. Restaurant was a bit pricey. A couple of the saunas were accessible only if you were without clothing. I'm not fond of public nudity much. The close proximity of the other resorts caught me off guard.
The hotel staff and attention to detail is first class. The rooms are of the standard you would expect from a five star hotel. Spa area, swimming pool, again first class. Only downside, drinks a little on the expensive side. Cant fault the hotel or the staff, perfect.
Excellent staff, perfect room, very good food. All was OK>
Kempinski High Tatras is a Luxury hotel with a perfect balance between high standards, excellent service and reasonable prices. We have really appreciated the discretion, availability and efficiency of all employees. Gardening with noisy material under our windows at relatively early hours could be avoided.
The people, service, desing, and the place where it is, just fabulous... The food was average. I mean normal menu, the breakfast fantastic... but I told this to the reception and they told me, that they are currently waiting for new chef...
Great view of the lake from the spa, friendly service, nice spa Badly smelling corridor to the rooms (probably from the glue when renovated), cold floor in the bathroom (paving), wifi in the room wasn't strong enough, expensive spa treatments and restaurant but it corresponds to 5* hotel
staff involvement The noise of children and lack of education
Lovely design combining old and new. Huge rooms, very comfortable bed. Luxurious spa. Excellent breakfast and perfect way of cleaning the room. Some staff far from Kempinski standard, particularly the spa manager. Concierge could not recommend a restaurant in nearby towns immediately. Body lotion + 3 other body products in our room and in the spa, as well as the marmelade at breakfast were past their expiry dates !!!
This hotel is in a 100 year old building that can only be described as elegant. The workmanship of the building itself is almost reason enough to stay. The setting, on top of a mountain with a breathtaking view is incredible. The staff, is educated and perceptive to the needs of the guest. The Wine Steward is a bit of con man.
Everything. The room, the amenities and the spa were outstanding. Nothing.
Spa area is just perfect! The staff attitude is very poor and not on the good level.
Very nice vila, I spend only one day there, but I want to come back again with my friends or family. Excellent staff, quiet and beautiful place, nice room. It's an excellent rest place for family and friends. Clean and tidy. Each room has a kitchen. In the courtyard is a barbecue. A great choice for business and holidays The best wishes for the host. Sincerely, Vida, Lithuania
Absolutely the finest little Penzion I have stayed at in Slovakia or the Czech Republic (and that's a long list). The staff was incredible - fantastic English by most and the weakest staff person's English was ok. Restaurant was amazing! Rooms were incredible.
very good food, was impressed by the standard ,the size of the hotel considered.Picturesque surroundings. A to bit awkward to reach by foot from the railway station.
The hotel is in a lovely old part of Poprad ... you will need a car to get to the main part ... the food was outstanding at the boutique restaurant ... quite impressive .. and a very good price ... the internet was sketchy
Big room, good location, tasty breakfast it was quite cold in the room when it was raining outside
We were apgraded to suit in Fortuna2 building - that was big room about 40m with 3 windows, wared and wifi internet was available. Restoran and servise was good. Location is very good in very center of old town, but very quite.
Very good apartments, including two rooms and kitchen. Good location. Breakfast was almost absent. Hotel's restaurant is owful, so you should take care of your meals yourself. Room cleaning was not good.
The very spacious apartment was well furnished and lit. We did not use the kitchen there; however, it should be noted that there is no dishwasher should you be inclined to stay here for a long period of time. The "wireless internet" does not exist. Only wired in the room - but free. One port only. So, my husband and I had to do tandem internet work. The hotel provides you with the very long wire that reaches to anywhere in the apt.
The room, the fact that it had a dressing room for storing your luggage, the kitchen and the ambiance in the room; the personnel from the front desk -breakfast - when some dish was finished, they would not bring some more; one morning there was only very old bread, the juice was dilluted with water most of the days; if you needed a spoon you couldn't find any. One day there was no milk and there was this guy who asked for milk, and they filled his glass but still did not bring any in the bowl. Also, the staff was sometimes eating from the food for the guests...
It was close to the hiking trails and to the lake. The staff wasn't too helpful. We had two rooms and one of them was very cold. They offered firewood for 5 Euros instead of a different room although the hotel was nearly empty. (But finally - when we asked it - they gave us a new room, which was ok.)
We found the location of the hotel very practical. The nearby train station is a benefit and not noisy at all. Rooms are modern, with a small kitchen. In-room cable LAN worked fine. We did not use any other of the hotel's facilities. The counter will provide you with enough hiking tips for 10 days. We found the breakfast buffet good value for money and enjoyed the local touch of the food.
- The size and forniture of the appartment - Staff of hotel does not really speak English, and they were not helpful, all the wellness centre was not available. Extra 10€ for pets.
Very nice apartment hotel with well equipped big rooms for affordable price. Excellent location for Tatra hiking. Very convenient parking.Good value for money.
The hotel staff did not speek english
Quiet location, good breakfasts. It would have been nice to have had a balcony. Some rooms do, but you need to request in advance.
Nice and big rooms, great breakfast, reasonable location, Helpful and English friendly staff. it was completely dark and rainy when we arrived in the town, and the hotel is nothing near the elektricka stations mentioned in the hotel's site (some 500 meters away). Additionaly, there wasn't any sign leading to the hotel (I'm not talking about enlightened sign - there was no sign at all!), so it took us a while to find the hotel. Additionally, we've expirienced one evening without hot water - somthing you wouldn't expect from a hotel which charges these rates... You can get completely reasonable hotels in this park for much better prices.
breakfast one time the card we used to open the door with didn't work anymore and there was nobody at the reception desk because there were just a few tourists in the hotel. we made a phone call- there was a phone number of the owner on a wall, and he was there in 3 minutes. not a big proble, though..and probably for the same reason-lack of tourists- the wellness center was closed at 7.30 pm.
Comfortable, very clean hotel. Well prepared staff. No english tv channels
Nice apartment we had in the hotel, nice location of the hotel, nice and polite staff, very good breakfast, there is a small wellness facility. There were 2 problems, one serious, one less serious: there was a problem with the heating. Obviously they have no enough power for the rooms and wellness at the same time. So I caught a cold, because there were periods without heating and hot water. We had to go downstairs several times and ask them to turn on the heating and the hot water. The other problem was a misunderstanding about the room price, but it was solved logically.
Location was great. Breakfasts were delicious with lots of variety. Rooms were clean and comfortable. We will definitely recommend this hotel and hopefully return some time in the future.
modern, tidy, quiet, good location We waited for drink, food and services long time.
Rooms and Hotel very nice. breakfast very good. great surrounding Unfortunatelly the staff was not very SERVICE-oriented. Hardly English or German speaking personell - hard to communicate.
Good value for money Need to be aware of location- well out of city centre
Excellent trained and friendly staff. Waiting time and quality of food in the restaurant due to too many guests
nice helpful staff, a good location, no problem with getting to Palace Tivoli (a lot of road signs) The staff was in no hurry and they were practically unavailable in the morning at the reception desk
Room was in the newly renovated part of the building, with nice bathroom. Buffet breakfast for 5 € was very good. Staff is very kind and helpful. Floor in the room was noisy.
location and cost
very expensive hotel , no internet , breakfast and dinner very poor price too high for quality this hotel
Very nice and informative staff. Room was very clean, and bathroom is designed. Also, in the restaurant there are special excellent wine!! Hotel manager was really helpful, and ensured our stay will be pleased.
Excellent price/performance ratio, very good on-demand breakfast, free internet access, clean & modern rooms, quite satisfied, will visit again
absolutelly nothing. Very bad experience.... Hotel has reception, but nobody there. Only paper with "please chceck restaurant for some staff" Waiting 15 minutes with all bags in front of restaurant for some staff. Hotel must be payed at check-in. Receptionist give me backmoney 40€ in coins. At check-out (12:00) wasn´t nobody responsible in hotel only cleaner and cook. So I check-out room to cleaner....Never go back to this Hotel...
style of hotel wellness centre and service
Beautiful old hotel, from the North side marvellous view to the highest summits. Traditional café and restaurant. Next to "lanovka". On the 3th floor thin walls, everything can be heard from the next room. First the room was rather cold as on of the radiators was full of air, I have repaired it myself. Gaps on wall and wallpaper.
Top class location for both mountain walks in summer and skiing in winter.beds and room very comfortable. Classiest hotel in the area.
The town itself and the surroundings were beautiful.. The restaurant and breakfast were impressive! Reception staff weren't too friendly and didn't seem to answer the phones... Friends were trying to call the hotel relentlessly and would get no answer!
Location is perfect, in the middle of Stary Smokovec. Pool and sauna are very nice. Hotel staff at reception is not friendly / helpfull. Bathroom is very simple: only a bath without even a screen or curtain: bathroom is all wet after a shower! Hotel restaurant was closed because of a wedding. There are certainly better options considering price/quality.
Very comfortable hotel and were made to feel very welcome. Great attention to detail.
free use of sauna/pool
Very good hotel, lovely view from our hotel room
Nice old hotel in a good place but a litle "cold".The people at the reseption are very nice, but they dont speak very good english, same in restaurant. The water in swiming pool and jacuzi is cold, after a day at ski place you want a warm swiming pool! In sauna men and women stay together...
Excellent location, lovely and friendly staff, rooms clean, over all very good hotel. the only think is when we came they gave us room on the side where the car park is. The room was small and for the money too expensive. Next day we asked for room on the other side with a lovely view of the mountains. What a difference. Rooms much bigger and most have balcony!!! So if you do stay ask for the rooms with the view of the village/mountains.
it was an interesting hotel in an interesting little town the rooms weren't as nice as I expected for the price. Our room was quite small without great features.
Food was good Didn't fix my broken phone, didn't provide room service, poor concierge service, didn't inform me i was due a discount as part of a wedding party
I enjoyed the atmosphere and the history of the hotel. I like the service and the lounge the most where I can stay there for a piece of cake and a pot of tea during the early night reading a book by the fireplace.
common spaces are really nice and probably redone recently the room furniture and bathroom appliances very very old fashioned and needing refurbishing immediately
It's isolation, very relaxing We had a double bed but with two single duvets on it???!! Not very romantic!!! Would have been nice to have one kingsize duvet to go with the bed. That's my only complaint though..
Very helpful staff, clean rooms, 5-min drive from mountains/chairlifts/ski lifts, lovely food in restaurant. There was a wedding reception going when we arrived, they offered to get us accommodation nearby or give us 20% discount off room price. We chose the discount, didn't hear the music at all, even though they were dancing in the garden, as the rooms are quite soundproof.
Close of train station and confortable. No
The location was good for where we needed to be that night. Raimond was a very nice man. It was in a scenic location, right on the road.
The place , the food Towels and blankets were not replaced 6 days and actually nobody put the room in order all this time/
WiFi network is working well. Raimund is clean place and it's nearby to the Tatra mountains. The house is located next to the very noisy road. Also dogs are bargling very early on the morning. The place of the old owner has already tired of customer service.
Small, charming, appearing brand new, well appointed Pension with a restaurant/bar attached serving good hearty food and local beer inside and also in a courtyard at picnic tables. Just 2 km from the main drag in Stary Smokovec, accessible by elektricka, car or on foot. Not really.
very close to Tatra's, parking at hotel, very nice bathroom Room was very noisy, horrible beds, breakfast was not good, moody personnel, vey hot in rooms. I really do not understand where all positive comments come from. We did have the family room. Perhaps are the other rooms better.
Room was ok (maybe - not very clean), but food in restaurant was really bad - they served day soup with mould on macaroni.
great kitchen and the owners/personel are very friendly and open hearted
The wide choice of cources on the menu in the restaurant. Well prepared dinners. Fine varied breakfast. I felt cold in the room - start of june...
Quite simple, you dont have to wait too much, but nice heating, hot water and good beds. House was in the back side and social realistic style
Perfect Staff! Nice surroundings, amazing nature outside the hotel. Mostly recommend!
Possibility of buying an excellent breakfast, view, peace, location.
breakfasts lack of atmosphere
bar staff were freindly no cleaners no toilet roll or towel change
The combination of the hotel and aquapark is well organized and is a huge advantage. The cleanliness of the whole place is just perfect. The room is very friendly and comfortable. The very nice thing was a tea/coffee kettle and tea&coffee available in the room during the whole stay (for free of course). Unfortunately the staff doesn't match the place and is mostly not very friendly. On the day of our arrival we went to eat the diner and the waiter in the restaurant was very rude (he decided to bring us something to drink after 15 mins, then threw the drink on the table, didn't say I'm sorry and went away), the information we got at the reception desk was mostly incompetent what was very confusing
Modern, clean, view of the High Tatras The hotel is part of Aqua City which is open to the general public and is always crowded, no exclusivity to guests of the hotel. Hotel parking always full, had to park on other parking lots. Noisy concerts in Aqua City. No AC in rooms. Can't take shower after midnight because of low water pressure (cleaning of Aqua City), had to intervene on arrival after 12h drive. Discount prices when booked through hotel website, we paid full price because we reserved through booking.com. Expected much more for the exclusive price.
A fantastic location, top class facilities resulting in a completely relaxing and enjoyable experience.
Fantastic pools both indoor and outdoors. Polite staff. Clean nice rooms with good design. There should be more signs in the hallways so that it would be easier to find your way to all the different pool areas. The name of the hotel should be placed on the outside wall of the hotel.
Friendly host, good location, clean room. nothing
The staff is really good. Family feeling. The owner have the heart for the business. It is only 3 months old. Great bed, Quiet Evening, Stunning View, Nice bath and free Wifi, free Parking Nothing I don't like.
Great, spacious, clean room with very good view to Poprad's plains. Very friendly proprietor. One additional advantage is about 30 meters to Tatra's railway station. Little choice on breakfast.
