10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was fantastic, great choice and stunning view! Room was lovely, nicely decorated and spacious. Lovely touches of free tea and cake or wine, great selection of tea and coffee in the room with fresh milk, even left a birthday card in the room for my husband. Fab location right in the heart of Rye, lovely staff - could not recommend more!
6.8 Good
Pros: Almost ewverything, other than allocation of bedroom with two sloping ceilings. Very uncomfortable. As were VERY narrow and twisting stairs (and low beam) to Amber Room.
Cons: A bedroom without sloping ceilings. Most uncomfortable for taller guests to stand upright in places, and impossible to sit upright in bed and read. The bathroom/toilet was far, far too hot, and the bath unnecessarily too big. Would have required swimming amount of amount water. Made do with a few inches of water.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room incredible, food incredible, loved staying there!
Cons: Zero
10.0 Excellent

Pros: This is a real hidden Gem! The staff were exceptional! The room was large, with amazing seating area and large tv. Huge comfy bed with all the amenities needed and even some that weren’t needed but nice to have!! The bathroom was amazing with separate bath and shower and amazing creams and body washes - only shame is we couldn’t take them with us!!
Cons: N/A
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Hayden's is a friendly, intimate and welcoming B&B. The staff couldn't be more helpful. We were offered a complimentary drink on arrival in the pleasant dining room which has nice views onto the fields below. The breakfasts are good and there is a big choice of dishes. Great porridge!
Cons: It was tricky to get the temperature of the shower right.
6.8 Good
Pros: Great location - 5 min walk from the station, in the very centre of the town. Friendly staff. Clean room and renovated bathroom. Breakfast on-site with a nice view from the conservatory.
Cons: The price created an expectation of a 5star place, whilst in fact it is closer to average B&B: tiny room and even smaller bathroom with non-detachable shower; small bed with too soft mattress; old non-insulating window frames - so you can hear all the street noise; good but not fantastic food, with focus on fast dishes like omelette or sandwiches.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The shower was a good size with plenty of power
Cons: The duvet been less thicker for the summer
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everyone was helpful and polite. Every effort made to make you feel welcome including complimentary tea and cake.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: really excellent breakfast after very comfy night
Cons: It would be helpful to have some information about parking and help with the drop off of luggage.we went round several times then carried bags and wedding clothes from a car park ,so a map of the one way system and advice about which park is easiest would help
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was polite and helpful. The room was spotless and tastefully decorated. The breakfast was really good, lots of variety and fresh food. The food at the restaurant was fantastic!! Will definitely be returning!!!!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location and an interesting historical location.
Cons: The bedrooms and bathrooms were very small indeed. There was really no room for two people to be in the room at the same time - my wife and I took it in turns to leave the room to allow the other to get ready in the morning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were delightful The food was delicious The room was very very nice
Cons: Bed a little soft for me but nice sheets and pillows
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: The room was a good size and the bed was very comfortable
Cons: The tea and coffee facilities in the room are very awkward to use. The dessert at dinner was awful. The staff member serving us was good and had the cost removed from the bill.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful rooms and decor throughout. Lovely bar area and breakfast setting. Great breakfast.
Cons: Seagulls were nesting on the flat roof outside our window and screeching all night.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful building & interior design, friendly staff and delicious food. Central location is a massive bonus too!
Cons: Bedroom was an attic room & therefore very hot. Opened window and fabric blind to allow more air in but unfortunately courtyard below had several PIR lights on all night which lit the bedroom up too! Not the best nights sleep. Constant bell tapping in the restaurant by the chef to say food was ready, especially when you’re sitting next to the open kitchen!!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very helpful and friendly. Great food and clean. The lady on reception even carried my large case to the bedroom!
Cons: Maybe more electrical outlets.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very good breakfast. Good shower in a large bathroom. Very attractive bar area and sitting area with old wooden beams. Also has a pleasant courtyard.
Cons: The lack of a/c meant that the window had to be left open to keep the room cool enough. Problem then was the noisy gulls! No parking on site, but a cheap car park is only a 5 minute walk away.

Pros: A beautiful hotel in a wonderful location. I definitely look forward to staying again.
Cons: Next time I will get a room with views of the sea not the carpark
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was absolutely clean and beautiful. Had great sleep in the comfy king sized bed. Other facilities were good but the breakfast was very disappointing as they had only one chef that morning for some reason. Well ,At least they tried!
Cons: The main problem of this place was less staff.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great staff with great attitude, couldn't do more to help. Location fantastic. We loved the yoga on the beach, thanks to both teachers

Pros: Everything was exellent!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, friendly staff, good food and beautiful grounds.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The size and decor
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I did think when I booked, that the 'breakfast' would be the usual 'full English' and would be included in the Bed and Breakfast cost fee which, although expensive per night for us, for others obviously quite acceptable, (plus the fact that it was the beginning of the holiday season), however the extensive range of the 'continental' fare was very good and more than sufficient. We both loved the patio gardens to each room and very attractive layout of the gardens generally. Our compliments to the gardener! Everything else perfect - many thanks.
Cons: N/A - everything very good.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location - 5min walk to stunning Camber Sands beach. Lovely room leading into peaceful courtyard garden. Great bar and lounge area. Complementary tea and cake on arrival much appreciated.
Cons: Staff overstretched - service friendly but very slow. Restaurant good but very expensive. Only continental breakfast included - which was delicious. Parking limited.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location
Cons: Our en-suite door needed painting
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was nice and cozy. We were early on the day of arrival but team made it possible to already enter the room which was very kind. The owners let us store our rental bikes in their storage room over night and also helped us to carry them in to the space. In general very helpful staff.
Cons: The breakfast could have been nicer, not very nicely cooked and not very inspiring. It could have been so easy to put a little more love into it. We ended up going elsewhere for a 2nd breakfast.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly hosts, lovely breakfast
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast. Was surprised that no jam or marmalade provide to go with the toast. Just needs a jar on the table.
Cons: See comment about marmalade
6.8 Good
Pros: Location & a great breakfast. Staff were very nice too. Pay & display opposite for £8 a day, just dodge the friendly but homeless alcoholic that sits on the bench outside - clearly a local institution
Cons: Not the best value at £100 a night. Room was small and by the car port so no view at all, very dark and noisy when family came in. It was ok, more like a £75 bracket but, guess the location bumps the price up.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect. The breakfast was lovely and the staff were friendly. The property was attractive.
Cons: We were on the ground floor so couldn’t really open the window at night and it was very warm, could have done with a fan in the room.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Location wad good. Friendly staff. Good breakfast too.
Cons: Not much. Budget room was small and a bit dark but comfortable enough. And it was a budget room!!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious
Cons: Shower was a bit weak
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location and full English breakfast superb.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good bed and great location

8.7 Excellent (638 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Whitehouse Rye in Rye, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Camber Sands and Lamb House.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was beautiful. Very spacious.
Cons: Room was far too hot. The building generally was far too hot. Fab provided in the room done little to cool it down.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Brilliant staff, very helpful, and a great breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Size of room with settee and decor were great, nice bathroom. Breakfast amazing.
Cons: Thick dust on fireplace in room - should have been removed, but this is just a minor point and didnt spoil overall impression or enjoyment of our stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: lovely place great location the staff were lovely very laid back vibe the food was outstanding breakfast was gorgeous.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location was good
Cons: Beds were uncomfortable and we booked 2 nights and were move to 2 different bedrooms. We waited over half an hour for breakfast on the second morning many were served after we had ordered and had left by the time our breakfast arrived. Breakfast toast and eggs was burnt. The staff we informed but just shrugged their shoulders and said sorry. I intend to write to the owners for an explanation.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Superb breakfast downstairs with all the options (from a ginger turmeric shot with granola yoghurt and avocado on toast to the full English breakfast). Rooms were nice.
Cons: Be prepared for the sounds of seagulls. The shower of one of the rooms at the front is a "sit down in the bath shower", which was not as comfortable as a real shower.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was fantastic, great location, no hassle check in, funky room that was clean, up to date and spacious.
Cons: only little things but important details! hooks for hanging things or a coat stand- i prefer hanging things where I can see them as there's less chance of leaving them behind. The shampoo and conditioner dispensers were empty, which was a shame because i would have liked to try them. The bedside tables are sitting on an angle so we spilled a drink. Obviously it's because of the unique floor, but perhaps a wedge of wood covered in black tape would be subtle and fix the tilt.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice place to stay!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: All of it. Beautiful bedroom, comfy bed and gorgeous breakfast.
Cons: Nothing!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location
Cons: Low ceiling in the bathroom

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous location, staff extremely friendly and helpful. The room was fabulous with fantastic views. The breakfast was great.
Cons: The rear of the hotel was scruffy, and needs a little attention with weeds growing where there could be a lovely little walled garden. Not enough parking spaces. Could have been a better bar area.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Excellent location. Lovely spacious room with outside terrace.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We had a very spacious and super comfortable room. The indoor pool, eventhough rather small, gave a certain spa feeling to our stay. Extremely friendly and helpful staff, especially at breakfast - thank you, Anna from Italy! Nice breakfast with the best coffee we've had during our trip. The parking situation is, as described in other comments, indeed a little tricky. But if you pull up right in front of the hotel before hand, the reception staff will give you easy peasy instructions on how to get to the hotel parking lot.
Cons: Tricky finding the hotel parking lot, but easy when you pull up in front of the hotel and ask the friendly receptionist for instructions.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent.Plenty of cold drinks and cereals and cooked breakfast to order.
Cons: _
5.0 Okay
Pros: The location was brilliant, right in the town center
Cons: The bathroom was very dated, wasn’t clean and definitely not what I expected for the price we paid. The staff were not very polite, they did not help to find the car park, turned our water off in the room...just a nightmare
8.0 Excellent

Cons: Can not think of a thing we did not like.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The two owners seemed like old friends from the moment we met Nothing is too much trouble. We came back from eating out to a torrential downpour. The minute we attempted to get out of the car Paul (joint owner) rushed across in the pouring rain with two umbrellas What service indeed!!!
Cons: Absolutely nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! The hosts Alan and Paul make a visit to their wonderful home such a very special occasion Nothing is too much trouble for them and the finishing touches throughout this magnificent accommodation are second to none. They fully deserve their 5 star rating and I most definitely will be returning to visit them again hopefully very soon
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect. The owners were amazing, made us feel extremely welcome. The room and house was beautiful. We have been to many hotels/bed and breakfast but this has to be the best. Paul and Alan made us feel so welcome. Saltcote Place made you feel like you were going home. I could not recommend this place enough, you have to go to experience it. Will definitely return.
Cons: No negatives at all
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We had a lovely large suite with a very comfortable bed and sofa. We appreciated the turn down service and the glass of liqueur awaiting us on our return from dinner. The owners were very friendly and welcoming and gave helpful recommendations on places to eat and the breakfast was superb. We were even offered a glass of champagne to celebrate my husband's birthday!
Cons: Difficult to find anything to complain about! the water could have been hotter in our bathroom but this was a temporary problem and easily fixed. The external staircase that we were asked to use was a fire escape and was a bit steep for those with mobility issues.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The most welcoming fantastic hosts you will ever have the pleasure of meeting. Their attentiveness and attention to detail is second to none. You'll have trouble finding a better breakfast anywhere! Overall.....a real five star treat!

Cons: Restaurant was rather warm weather was more then hot asked if door could be left open which it was
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The family lodge was just perfect for us, comfortable, clean and spacious, really super.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very good breakfast. Two constructive criticisms- wipe bacon clean of white deposit before serving which would improve the look, a little less oil/butter with the mushrooms - but we were well satisfied with the menu choice and the quality of the food. The evening meals were really exceptional both the choice and the quality. The dressed crab was particularly good.
Cons: A little bit of maintenance round the shower would be an improvement but otherwise everything was fine.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfasts and dinner excellent with a good choice of food. Interior of Log was perfect for family of four- well equipped and comfy beds.
Cons: Outdoor verandah needs to be swept and requires outdoor furniture for four. Bench seat needs replacing.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice, clean and comfortable cottage serves as a good base for exploring the region (Rye, Hastings, Battle)
Cons: A little out of town and the walk into the centre is not particularly nice. If you‘re travelling by car only, that‘s not a setback, though.

Cons: N/A
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location set in a country setting.
Cons: Thought the gym was poor with little facilities & equipment. The bar area is minuscule with very little selection in terms of beverages. Food in the restaurant was adequate but nothing special. Considering that it is meant to be a top horticultural location more could be done to enhance the flora & fauna of the locale.
7.5 Good
Pros: Good pool facilities
Cons: Room needs sprucing up
4.5 Okay
Pros: The bed was comfy.
Cons: The room needed updating. Lightning was very poor. Shower didn't work properly.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely old building, nice swimming pool and great breakfast. Very friendly staff.
Cons: A bit dated and tired - defo time for a refresh, particularly noticeable in the bathrooms and state of the carpet! But think the price and 3 star reflects that.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: The gardens were attractive
Cons: Poorly prepared room, shower totally inadequate requiring at least 10 mins to warm up, unpleasant smell from cooking exstactor fan pervading our room, constant loud noise from taffic all night, tired and tatty carpets and tired mismatched furniture, reception staff with little or no customer training -their only greeting being 'yorit' which I believe translates to ' are you all right'. Rudenes from at least one membet of staff.

5.0 Okay
Pros: Staff were nice
Cons: The room was really noisy. On a busy road and when hot you need to open the windows but the noise from the road was terrible
5.5 Okay
Pros: The room was clean and comfortable
Cons: At breakfast I was shown to a table behind a screen away from other few other guests as this was the only table laid for 1 dispite other tables not being used. This made me feel that being widowed and alone I am a second class guest. This was a shame as I have stayed here many times when my husband was alive and have very good memories of our time at the River Haven
7.0 Good
Pros: Good location
Cons: Access to WiFi was poor
8.0 Excellent
Pros: It is a lovely B&B in a great location. The staff were so great and friendly as well. Lastly, the breakfast buffet was just right.
Cons: Our room was mercilessly hot despite the very cool temperatures outside and the window open. They did provide a fan and even an extra one (when we asked if they had a second fan- very great staff!), unfortunately it did nothing the abate the stifling heat. We actually wished we could have slept in the hallway, as the open windows there provided ample cool breeze.

Cons: Bit shabby needs updating

Pros: Location. Food and staff excellent.
Cons: Decor very tired. Only had a skylight window in the room which made it very claustrophobic and hot! Would be better if you were advised about window. Though room was very clean, some areas of the hotel needed a good dust.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The poached eggs were the best ever
Cons: Carpet smelled a little musty in reception and needed to be refitted, as bumps in the carpet
5.5 Okay
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful
Cons: The hotel was looking tired. Although my room was classified as a premium room, it was exactly the same as my sisters except hers was a twin and £20 cheaper. They also booked through you ?? It was a standard double, which wasn’t particularly comfortable , bed linen , towels etc all basic. I would certainly not have paid this if I had seen the room. I also was on my own therefore only had 1 breakfast etc. The hotel was also hot and noisy , busy road with lots of cars and motorbikes and not on an idyllic harbour that I was expecting. A great shame , however the staff were lovely and friendly.
7.5 Good
Pros: The room was a decent size with comfortable twin beds. Tea & coffee in the room. The room was above the car park and close to the main road but traffic noise wasn’t distracting. We had an excellent breakfast. Pleasant walk along the river into the town of Rye just 5 minutes away. Also not far from the train station so a convenient location.
Cons: Shower had very low pressure and was just a drizzle really.

Pros: I like everything! Was excellent! Very close to the beach. Very clean.100% we will be back!!! Had a really lovely Easter brake. Very very happy! Thank you so much!!!!
Cons: To be honest I wouldn't charge anything apart of couple chairs and table outdoor. Would be lovely to seat outside and have a rest on the beautiful weather. But apart of that everything was perfect!
