5.8 Okay
Pros: Only enjoyed the onsen.
Cons: Room too small for the price. Bed not so comfy.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely service and good food.. onsen was nice with both indoor and outdoor options.. they also had private onsens available for use at no charge which was a nice touch.. shuttle to and fro the main station made it even more convenient even tho the walk was just 10 mins..
Cons: Had to carry luggage up and down the staircase as the older complex didn't have lifts.. was ok for us, but might not be easy for the elderly or less able..
7.9 Good
Pros: Excellent ryokan onsen. The staff were very helpful and accommodating even if communication was difficult due to the language barrier. They were always very fast in respond to our messages and saw to it that all our needs were met. The free shuttle service to and from tottori station is a life saver. I have tattoos, so I was really pleased that this ryokan has FREE private outdoor open air baths are were just as luxurious as the public bath (unlike many other ryokan in which the private baths are an afterthought and are typically much shabbier than the public ones) . Plus you don't need to reserve the private bath -- there are two and both are first come first serve. The kaiseki dinner and breakfast were excellent and delicious and generous. I was painfully full by the end of our multi course dinner. One dish was the HUGEST oyster I'd ever seen and it was so yummy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice ryokan near the Tottori city center. It offers two private baths for overnight guests and a public bath as well. The breakfast is traditional Japanese style. Completely recommended for a visit in Tottori!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff. Good location near the station. Public and private bath are ok. Good food
Cons: Hotel is bit fading glory, could use some TLC. Good food, but not the most refined cuisine
7.9 Good
Pros: 1. The Staffs are nice, and will take you to the JR station with their shuttle bus. 2. There's hot spring. 3. English friendly.
Cons: 1. Walking is a little bit long for carrying luggage. 2. No shower in the room(when booking it didn't say). 3. Breakfast no meat. 4. Hot spring too small.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything from the place to the staff who always have a sincere smile for us.
Cons: Almost nothing

Drop Inn Tottori - Hostel - Tottori - Building
3
8.7 Excellent (873 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Drop Inn TOTTORI - Hostel in Tottori, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Tottori Sand Dunes and Uradome Coast. Featured amenities include luggage storage, laundry facilities, and microwave in a common area. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Huge capsules that are very comfortable. Staff were pretty helpful when I asked what restaurants were in the area. But I asked in Japanese so I can't comment on their English ability. The owner/manager (?) speaks great English, but she isn't always there. Very close to the train station. Breakfast was simple but good. Would stay again if in the area.
Cons: The rooms were a bit noisy because of the luggage compartments being inside the capsule rooms. But free earplugs are offered. In theory a good idea but I now understand why most capsule hotels have lockers outside of the sleeping areas.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Drop Inn was a clean place to stay and offered excellent value for the money. I will stay here again when visiting Tottori!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was a simple but hearty toast and boiled eggs with butter, jam, and some great carrot orange juice.
Cons: The other customers were a bit loud when coming in and out of the room when it was supposed to be quiet, but that can't really be helped
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Comfy beds. Easy check in check out
6.3 Good
Pros: For a capsule bed it was very roomy and comfortable. There was a lot of space and a few outlets in the capsule to recharge devices. There was plenty of storage under the beds for baggage.
Cons: The music in the cafe was played at a VERY loud level in the evening. I wanted to relax, read, and maybe get work done in the cafe when it was closed to public. Come midnight the music was still too loud for me to concentrate on anything. It was not at all comfortable or relaxing. "Breakfast" was a badly hard-boiled egg, a piece of stale toast, and burnt coffee. Hardly what I expected given they front as a cafe. The woman on staff in the morning was also very rude. My biggest complaint is that the staff did not want me to double park to drop off bags. (Double parking is a thing in Japan so it was rather shocking and I did not want to carry my bags after stargazing late at the dunes.) I was told I had to park at the nearby garage before bringing in my bags. They then insisted on me paying for "validating" my parking when I came back with my bags. As a result, I paid overnight parking fee for 10 minutes of parking when I could have just stayed double parked and dropped off my things. I was then told I would have to REPAY the overnight parking fee when I came back from stargazing that night (since my ticket would be used when I left). After their refusal to do anything but say I had to pay again when I returned (and them telling me to talk with the parking garage manager), I was surprised that when I returned for the evening that they actually waived me double paying for overnight parking. The whole situation was infuriatingly ridiculous and a massive waste of time.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast and the smell of the room.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The shared bathrooms were really nice. Very clean, lots of complimentary toiletries, separate locking stalls for shower and for toilet. They had one bathroom for everyone, and one just for women, which I think is a great, comfortable solution for everyone. I never had to wait to use the bathroom, even though it's shared. The capsules each have a lockable storage unit underneath that you can use for bigger luggage (pretty dusty though!), and a smaller lockable box inside the capsule, next to the head of the bed.
Cons: The individual capsules have a sort of sturdy curtain you can close, but that piece doesn't lock, and it seemed like it would have been easy to put a lock there. The storage unit below the capsule was dusty - I put a cloth backpack there and it came out pretty covered in dust. It would be perfectly fine for a big plastic suitcase though. The breakfast was very mediocre, but it is included in the price. Coffee, very sweet orange juice, hard boiled eggs, and toast.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Modern, clean, and sleek. First floor is a cafe but guests are more than welcomed to use the space 24HR. Breakfast was continental and consisted of toast (with jam/butter), hard-boiled eggs, coffee, and juice. The coffee was SO GOOD. Not your typical cheap continental coffee. They even had a few games in the "lobby" (e.g. UNO, Jenga).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: 3 minutes walk from the jr tottori station. The staff was very nice. Was allowed to check in even though I came 2 hours early. Good connection to bus and trains!
7.1 Good
Cons: Somewhat unprofessional staff. But we had a much better experience the next day.
Y Pub&hostel Tottori - Tottori - Building
4
8.7 Excellent (362 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Y Pub&Hostel TOTTORI in Tottori, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Tottori Sand Dunes and Uradome Coast. The front desk is staffed during limited hours.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff was really nice and the room and facilities were really clean. also, the location is perfect, just a couple of minutes walk from the train station.
Cons: The only thing I would like to mention is that the check in time is 5pm, and there is no one there between 10am and 5pm, which means you can not leave you luggage or pick it up.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's in a convenient spot very close to both the station and downtown! There was also a beer garden on the roof of the hostel.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff
Cons: Quite warm in the beds despite the a/c
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The people were great, the bed was SUPER comfortable and there were a lot of resources at the hostel (for sightseeing) that were extremely useful in simply walking around the area and checking out the highlights. We were really only there for sleeping, but even the showers and bedding areas were convenient and comfortable. Would definitely go back again!
Cons: Nothing that I really noticed.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing staff, very clean hostel, I love the pub!
Cons: In the winter it’s quite cold in the dormitory
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff was really helpful and did their best to recommend some interesting places in Tottori. The room was warm and the air wasn't too dry so I could sleep comfortably. The hostel is located close to the train station so it's very convenient if you are arrinving late or need to catch an early train. You can leave your luggage at the property free of charge after you check out. You can choose between Western breakfast and Japanese one.
Cons: The female dormitory is rather small so there's not much space to store luggage. The room must get really cramped when all beds are booked. The pub downstair where they serve breakfast is a smoking area. My Japanese breakfast consisted only of a small bowl of miso soup, two plain onigiris, some pickles and a cup of black tea. I had a much more sumptous breakfast for the same price elsewhere.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place was excellent! Probably the best hostel I've stayed in. You have a lot of privacy with your little cubby. It's an easy location, 5 minutes walk from the station. They have everything you need in the showers including, make up remover, shampoo and conditioner, body wash and even pads should you need! Lovely kitchen facilities if you want to bring your own food. The pub downstairs is a nice place to hangout and grab a drink. Very clean as well.
Cons: Nothing against the hostel but the pub meals were a little small for the price.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I didn't try the breakfast but the dinner was fantastic.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was seriously our favorite hostel we stayed at during our whole 3 week trip. The staff was REALLY nice and there is a bar downstairs which is really cool! :) We got a few drinks there before bed... Tottori is a beautiful area that we loved visiting. If you are spending the night here check out the sand dunes and The Sand Museum, which are both seriously worth it.

Pros: Very clean. The staff is very pleasant and friendly! Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Nice view of the garden and onsen was relaxing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very welcoming. I was sitting in the park across the street since I arrived early, and the staff came over and let me in early. Baths and room were clean and comfortable.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Traditional ryokan with tatami rooms, yukata, tea set and a newly renovated indoor onsen. At walking distance from the train station
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Well kept ryokan with large rooms, comfortable (thick) futons and friendly staff. Windows face out to a small Japanese garden.
Cons: The hot baths are a bit run down, but new ones are under construction. Once finished this should be a super nice place. Since it is an old building, the sound proofing is not very good. Children jumping around two rooms over made our windows rattle in the early morning.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staffs are friendly
Cons: The pillow a bit small
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Its so great of all!! very comfortable and good bath !
Cons: non
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I highly recommend this Ryokan. Staff were so helpful and friendly. My room was over the top spacious and i looked down into a treasured 100year old garden. The new onsen is a credit to the owners. Breakfast was delicious with garden view. Loved the blend of modern and traditional, the garden, the ikebana, the family treasures on display. I hope to stay here again. And it is only a very short walk to the station.
Cons: No elevator but staff were so efficient and considerate in carrying my case.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Everything else was fine. Nice room, quite big. The baths were really pleasant too. The location of the ryokan is nice, really quiet. Reception was nice.
Cons: The pillows were too small and quite uncomfortable, almost broke my neck on it.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The new Onsen Wing. Clean and well maintained.
Cons: The corridor leading to the room is a bit dark.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Love the view from the balcony, there was a very very beautiful Japanese garden!!!!! Enjoyed sketching there. Very comfortable room! Good spa! Staffs are very nice and super helpful, they found my lost earring ❤️ for me!
Cons: I had no chance to add meal on arrival.

Cons: Stairs n car parking lots
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast and friendly hotel staff. The Manager spoke English and was really helpful in the tips to tour around Tottori. Small hotel, perfect for a family trip. Love the public bath. The Japanese Style Room was big and had a nice feeling to it.
Cons: Everything was excellent.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The private bath area was nice and worth the extra cost. Breakfast was good.
Cons: Location is not convenient unless you are driving. A taxi from the Tottori station will set you back around 2000 yen. They have a smoking area on the first floor right by the stairs and it permeates the hallways even several floors up. The view of the port that is advertised was not what I expected; it was mostly industrial.

Cons: Staff doesn't speak english, which can be tricky if you do nit know any japanese
7.1 Good
Pros: The location is good. Staffs are friendly.
Cons: I wish the pillows were softer and didn't smell musty.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is located close to the train station and the access to tourist attractions is easy. The room was comfortable and the view was lovely. There are washing machines that guests can use for only 300 yen.
Cons: The walls are a bit thin so noisy neighbours are easy to hear.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: wide rooms, comfy beds and everyday cleaning
Cons: everything was fine
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was really nice and professional and the rooms were good and clean. The location of the hotel was superb because it was located right infront of a river lined with beautiful cherry trees that were in full bloom just when we arrived! It's a 10 minutes walk to the station which was fully acceptable. Great value for a good price!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Air conditioning is a little warm but if it is colder, it would increase my rating. Location was great, only 15 min away from the Sand Dunes. There is no onsen in the hotel but outside there is. However, it is a very traditional onsen, you pay for everything you rent (towels, soap, shampoo).
Cons: Warm AC.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: staffs were very friendly and helpful
7.9 Good
Pros: A nice little hotel overlooking the river, easy walk to/from the station, close to eateries etc. Helpful staff, clean rooms, no complaints!
Cons: Breakfast was passable but pretty ordinary; when did Japan decide that mini hot-dogs are a food group?

Bird Stay Hotel - Tottori - Building
13
7.5 Good (402 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Featuring in-house skin-beautifying hot spring of which abundant water is retrieved directly from its own source, this is a hotel that provides satisfying facilities such as Sunaba coffee shop, lounge for business, restaurants inside building.
6.7 Good
Pros: Nice room, good hotspring bath
Cons: Far away from Tottori station (it takes about 20 minutes walk at least), far from restaurant street. Staff does not speak any English. We were there during the heavy raining days and no information at all from the hotel to let us know what is happening.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: very clean hotel and room/bathroom confortable beds shampoo, shower gel are really good quality products wich is not commun in à hotel
7.9 Good
Pros: Great value.. the relaxation Lounge is great
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is in a good location at a short walk-able distance from the train station. The room was a lot bigger than we expected, as hotel rooms in Japan tend to run on the small size. It very comfortably fit our family and all our suitcases. The breakfast was lovely--you can upgrade to a Japanese-style breakfast for a small fee, which we ordered practically every day. We stayed during Golden Week, so the free parking lot was full on most days, but there are many other parking lots available nearby that range from 300-400 yen for 12-15 hours. The restaurant located in the hotel, Restaurant Kira, was absolutely amazing and we wished we had more opportunities to eat there. For only 1,000 yen you can get a lovely teishoku style meal that comes with 2 mains and a variety of side dishes. We were blown away by the quality of the food and the price. They even serve local Tottori wagyu at very good prices.
Cons: The wi-fi signal was a bit weak in our room.
7.9 Good
Pros: Very traditional style business hotel. The tatami and rooms were clean and nice. Bed comfortable but a bit small. AND the ofuro was great.
Cons: Could use a bit of an update. And when booking it should be more clear that there are no shower units in the room. Also would love to have a desk or other higher surface in the room.
6.3 Good
Pros: Hotel staff is helpful. I check in late and they offer delaying the closure of public bath.
Cons: Japanese family room air condition is not very good. Noisy and not very cool.
4.6 Okay
Pros: The size of the room was ok.
Cons: No bathroom in the room. No nightstand for any bed. AC direct over the head. Very poor breakfast for such a high Price. Unfriendly staff. Price/Performance ratio is very bad.

7.9 Good
Pros: This affordable, simple property is just a few minutes by foot to Tottori Station, and is convenient to many restaurants and bars. The staff is also very friendly.
Cons: You get what you pay for. While there is nothing “wrong” with the hotel, the interior of the rooms could definitely use an update; my room wasn’t cleaned, even though I was out all day.
7.5 Good
Pros: Located just opposite the Tottori Train Station and beside a street filled with restaurants. Walking distance to the Castle Ruins.
Cons: No non-smoking room left and smoking room reeked of cigarette smell. Even with the air freshener provided, the smell is BAD.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Best location, very near Tottori station about 3 mins walk!!
7.5 Good
Pros: The free coffee / hot chocolate / tea
Cons: Additional fees for one of my kids, for the parking, very tiny rooms
7.1 Good
Pros: The location.
Cons: Tiny room. The breakfast was just okay. We needed to hand out our key when we were not in the hotel, but got the wrong one once when we came back. It's an mistake they should avoid to make.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Best location for Tottori city sightseeing right by the train station, very nice staff, very affordable, restaurant inside the hotel for those who want easy breakfast/dinner options
Cons: because walls and doors are thin, it could be noisy if you happen to be staying on a floor with inconsiderate guests
7.9 Good
Pros: Nice people nice location
Cons: Too small
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Only 5 minutes walk from the station by underground passage, but very quiet. Free coffee/tea/chocolate in the lobby.
6.7 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: I heard staff laughing about one customer when she took the elevator
7.5 Good
Pros: A stone's throw from the rail and bus station, this hotel is surrounded by a variety of shops and restaurants. It has a microwave and free coffee.
Cons: The view from my room was blocked by some kind of scaffolding, for which I felt they ought to have apologized. Even by Tokyo standards the space was minuscule, which I didn't expect in a one-horse town like Tottori. That was a real bummer as I am getting more claustrophobic by the minute after several weeks in Japan!

4.6 Okay
Pros: Location is as bet as it can be in central Tottori. Easy walking distance to the train station and adjacent to Daimaru department store.
Cons: The place has not been updated in perhaps 20 years. The some of the staff are poorly trained. The heating/cooling system cannot be controlled at all, other than on or off. The room became hot and uninhabitable during our stay, and we had to ask the hotel staff to open the window for a few hours to cool off. It did not work so well, however. The windows were leaking during rain. The price was too high for a fairly mundane and aging hotel in middle of nowhere. The service at the on-site Chinese restaurant was awkward and not typical of Japanese standards. The central Tottori area near the train station is DYING. It used to be a much livelier place to visit, and I feel very sad about this.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: A bit old
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very convenience just opposite the train station.
Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: close to JR station
Cons: there's a detectable smell of maybe petrol (not sure what was that) in the hotel lobby, could be related to the renovation work of a few floors; smell of onion soup coming out from the toilet's ventilation fan; only high/mid/low/off setting for air-conditioning
7.9 Good
Pros: The breakfast has lots of choice of western and Japanese style. The destination is closed to Tottori JR Station. The staffs of the hotel are so polite.
8.3 Excellent

7.1 Good
Pros: We read the reviews: old and tired hotel with good staff. So our expectations were matched we knew what to expect. We needed a night base to explore Tottori (dunes and national park) the next day in the morning and then drive all the way to Osaka airport in the afternoon. Staff is friendly, public warm baths are ok (actually there is no shower in the room so you have to use them anyway). Yukatas provided are great. But the best was the dinner : we asked for a vegan meal and we had a fantastic meal prepared with care and lots of great local ingredients. Their tofu baked is out of this world. We had an excellent view from the room to the mountains covered in snow.
Cons: The only possibility was to have a room with two single beds - but they were comfortable. The toilet and bathroom reminded me all the time of a hospital. Despite the great meal - still a bit to pricy for what it offers.

8.3 Excellent
