Hôtel Le Val Thorens - Val Thorens - Lounge
1
8.2 Excellent (386 reviews)
Overview Reviews
When you stay at Hôtel Le Val Thorens in Les Belleville, you'll be near ski lifts, within a 10-minute walk of Bouquetin Gondola and SOGEVAB. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location right next to the Val Thorens slopes and close to restaurants.
7.5 Good
Pros: It is in a great spot central to a few bars and restaurants and supermarkets.
Cons: We arrived after a very long 15 hour drive and had booked a privilege room with a town view. However, it was on the ground floor and therefore the terrace and glass doors effectively opened on to the street, affording is absolutely no privacy at all. We had to keep the curtains closed at all times. There was no ‘view’ of any kind and the hotel should really review how they describe this room. We complained and the following day were offered an identical room but a couple of floors above the original one. This was more acceptable, though there was lots of disturbance overnight from rowdy crowds walking past the hotel. It would seem the police in Val Thorens turn a blind eye to anti-social behaviour. This of course was not the hotel’s fault but perhaps it should be mentioned to prospective guests.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: see above
Cons: nothing
7.9 Good
Pros: Location was perfect. Breakfast was excellent. View was spectacular.
Cons: Bad smell in the room (we had a mini suite) for the entire stay. Staff tried to fix, but with no result.
7.0 Good
Pros: The hotel is on the piste. The restaurant Fondue is very nice.
Cons: The place is very noisy. The restaurants are full of big groups it is not nice to have a family dinner in such place. We were informed by the personnel that the rooms are being cleaning up till 5 pm what is very strange. For such expensive place I expected something else.
5.4 Okay
Pros: The property is in an excellent location within the Val Thorens resort. It is a ski-up hotel which is very convenient. It has a small pool, sauna and steam room. The view from the room was good.
Cons: For the price we paid, we expected a more luxurious and comfortable room. The room was very small and the bed wasn’t very comfortable. Although quite modern, it felt quite cheaply done and was a bit disappointing. The hotel app is quite misleading. I read that if we didn’t request parking prior to arrival, we couldn’t be guaranteed parking space. I therefore requested parking via the app and promptly received a message back confirming receipt of my request and that the cost was €0.00. This was followed by another similar message saying that my request was being processed, and again the cost was €0.00. Upon arrival, the lady at check-in asked if we would like the valet to park our car and we gratefully accepted. However, at check-out we were presented with a bill for parking at a rate of €21 + tax per night. The lady at check-in had not told us there was any charge or presented a tariff or agreement. We assumed the hotel had free on-site parking, so didn’t question it. We explained the situation at check-out and complained at how misleading the app had been and that staff should advise clients as to the cost but the hotel refused to own the mistake and waive the fee. After a lengthy dispute, we were offered a discounted rate of €15 + tax instead. Presumably this was waiving the hotel’s commission for using the local multi-story car park where our car was actually parked? We were tired of arguing and eager to leave the hotel, so although we were still dissatisfied, we paid and left. I hope the hotel will review its app and check-in processes, being less misleading and more transparent about the charges for the services it offers. We are happy to pay for services if we know about them in advance and have been able to make an informed choice.
6.3 Good
Pros: Location is great, hotel is clean
Cons: Hotel staff broke automatic side mirrors on the car.

5.0 Okay
Pros: Ski room and ski shop (including staff) was really good and useful. good ski in/out, spa. 3 restaurants with different coisines.
Cons: For sure very good hotel try to save money on staff. Director, russian receptionist and ski shop staff was very good and helpful, however nearly everyone else was unprofessional and even rude sometimes. F.e. you can easily come to a dinner at a reserved time and there would be no free table. When we asked about forgotten blouse in lobby we just heard immediate "No" and thats all. When we asked other receptionist she found it for us in half minute. Rude waiter in restaurant. Some staff don't understand English fluently.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: No reason to get out from the hotel One of the best hotels in Val Thorens
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: I paid 2000 EUR for 4 nights. I was notified by the hotel 2 days before my stay that they have to close the hotel due to the corona virus restrictions. All my requests to get a refund were rejected. Im still waiting to get my moeny back!

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great looking hotel with amazing spa facilities. Nice size rooms, rooms kept immaculately clean & tidy. 1200 check outs. Free shuttle vehicles that drop you off and pick up around town was ace. Good all round level of service.
Cons: Rooms where very hot with temperature control in the room. No real adult based function/entertain room. We stayed at the Fahrenheit 7 last year in VT and although the Altapura is a better hotel it didn’t have the same quality vibe as F7 did.

7.0 Good
Pros: The ski in, ski out location. The closeness to the bus station. The Spar underneath the property and the ski hire place next door. Plus the brilliant boulangerie, Sucre Sale, just down the road.
Cons: The extra expense because it was half term
8.3 Excellent
Pros: great location, easy check in
Cons: No microwave in kitchen
5.4 Okay
Pros: Good location, close to central sky lifts
Cons: Property long overdue for renovation. Shabby interior, shower cabin door cannot fully be shut even after being reported to staff and “repaired”, hot water tank with limited hot water for a one-person shower, toilet tank takes 10-15 mins to refill after single flush, balcony door leaks cold air, staff cannot give an extra toilet paper or bar of soap. Kind of “DIY residence”. But good location allows to squeeze from clients all they can without upgrading the hotel, apparently.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is in an excellent position for the Piste. You get free Wifi, Linen included , and reception. The Ski Hire shop in next door and a good supermarket about a minute away, there is a nice sunny terrace great for a drink after a hard days ski.
Cons: Only 1 English T.V Channel, it would help if they had microwaves in the apartments.
7.0 Good
Cons: Air-conditioning should be provided as our room wasn't well ventilated
9.0 Excellent
Pros: excelent location - I´d even say one of the best in the whole ski region - directly on the slopes, perfect access from all sides, access to restaurants and shops, etc... Rooms are small but it was ok for a family of four to survive the whole week. Kitchen equipment was sufficient.
Cons: overall feeling was super positive but it´s true that there are a few places that need renovation - e.g. ski room...

Pros: The Location was good. The dark haired young lady who worked behind small rear lounge bar was very friendly, welcoming and always polite. The bed was very comfortable.
Cons: The selection of breakfast was very poor possibly the worst I have ever had at a hotel. Cleaning of the room was average I had to request 3 times for cigarette butts to be cleaned from the balcony. No shower in our Room.
