10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stay in the Holiday Inn regularly, it's our 'go-to' place whether we want a night out, a relaxing get away or to do some shopping, bonus is that it is not too far away either and in a great location. The rooms are always spotless, we love the huge shower, the air con is a god send and the breakfast never fails to deliver! Special mention to Mikael who ALWAYS goes above and beyond, whenever we stay. All staff are so polite and helpful. Thank you :)

7.1 Good
Pros: This is a fairly new hotel, so well designed rooms and bathrooms. Remarkably quiet and no noise from other rooms. Very clean. Breakfast reasonable quality. Parking available close to the hotel. Friendly staff.
Cons: I was appalled to be woken at 1am by a strange man walking into my room. I assumed he might have been a member of staff, but was further alarmed to be told he was another guest. It was unclear why he had a working key to my room. The duty manager was eager ‘to resolve’ what had happened. I’m not sure it is possible to ‘resolve’ such a serious breach of guest security with a bottle of wine or money off the bill. I hope the hotel will be able to undertake the necessary staff training to ensure no other guest has the same experience. I also informed the duty manager that the security bolt on the inside of the door of my room did not work.

Pros: Lovely situation, quiet but with a feeling of complete safety. Easy access to the room via a short staircase, with our car parked right outside. Breakfast arrangements were just perfect - a lovely, pleasant dining area, with our (party of four) orders taken without being hurried and served exactly as ordered. Fresh tea and coffee were offered before we needed to ask. And the food itself was first class. Our room was spacious, everything worked and the heater must be an absolute dream in cold weather! The bathroom was spotless, the shower worked well and was easy to use and high quality toiletries were provided. The wifi was easy to access/efficient and the information book contained everything a guest could need.

7.9 Good
Pros: We stayed for 2 nights as we had a wedding to attend nearby . The room was compact and comfortable , the bathroom very clean , the rooms are in 2 story block at the back of the pub and are built in the same style (Newburgh is in a conservation area) . There are steps to get to the upper rooms so if you have any mobility issues request a ground floor room. We did not eat in the Red Lion as we met family on one evening and were at the wedding on the other . Breakfast was varied and well cooked . The Red Lion is a nice local pub with a restaurant as part of it , staff were friendly and helpful. Good value for money compared with other local places .
Cons: No problems for us.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: This is a family run hotel and all the staff went out of their way to be helpful and accommodating. It was a quiet hotel thus one had a peaceful sleep on very comfortable beds. Drink and food prices where reasonable with specials on every night. I would certainly recommend staying here.

Pros: The breakfast was lovely - great quality bacon cooked perfectly along with freshly cooked mushrooms and tomato and a delicious poached egg - all this alongside cereal, fruit juice and quantities of fresh tea. It was wonderful to sleep in a comfortable bed with a duvet larger than the size of the bed so no gaps when turning over, and - wonder of wonders - a window that opened!! Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice decor, friendly staff , excellent quality food.
Cons: Comfortable bed , however made a lot of squeaky noises.
7.9 Good
Pros: Breakfast was very good - we knew we were getting a continental selection, but could also order cooked for a reasonable additional cost. The 'cooked breakfast' was excellent - both in quality, presentation and amount. Our room had absolutely everything you could expect, and was spacious and comfortable. The decor throughout the inn/restaurant was great.
Cons: Generally, the bedroom was 'tired' but very clean, could be updated. One negative comment is that the milk sachets provided in the room seemed sour, although still in date. Should be kept in a fridge perhaps?
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Room was good size as was bathroom
Cons: The evening access to the rooms from the outside staircase could have been better lit - we had to use light on phones. Also not good access for people with mobility issues.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good choice at breakfast, helpful staff, perfect location for our travel plans.
Cons: Room just a bit too hot and windows limited opening for safety.
7.1 Good
Pros: Brilliant croissants, nice overall breakfast. Peaceful with no neighbourly noises.
Cons: No halal option, no air con, duvet too thick for summer! I feel that if checkin is from 3pm then checking out should be 3 pm latest. I think a fridge is needed in the bedrooms because my cold drinks were warm to drink!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Spacious room. Very nice bathroom. Friendly and helpful staff. Good cooked breakfast. Enjoyed our stay because the staff went out of their way to accommodate a family meal by seating us together. We are most grateful for this very kind and understanding gesture.
Cons: Poor lighting in bedroom 1. Hard mattress and pillows. Fixed shower head. More choice needed for continental breakfast.
9.2 Excellent
Cons: Problem with gas in the kitchen so no cooked breakfast available, it wasn't included in the room price though, and a continental style was provided FOC.

Pros: Our stay was made very enjoyable because of Andy. He was super friendly and helped in everything he could. Great customer service and great atmosphere. Thank you Andy. You was our Captain Marvel
Cons: The food was not the best but very good value.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff are friendly. Food from next door taste amazing. Room was very comfortable.
6.7 Good
Pros: Staff very good, friendly and accommodating. Great selection of flavoured gins and mixers, always a plus for me and good prices too. Food was good and served sizzling hot. Perfectly located for our day at the race track.
Cons: Actual Bay horse staff and pub very good, however, the pub could do with a damn good clean. Regarding accommodation, No toilet roll, had to get some from pub or shower gel in dispenser. Shower pipe leaking. Ground floor window catch snapped off and hanging loose, security issue that needs dealing ASAP. Very few plug sockets, quite dim lighting. No USB charging facilities. Overall, I would say, if our room was typical of the others. The accommodation complex needs a damn good face-lift and clean. Needs bringing into the 21st century, regarding technology. It's a long time since I've seen net curtains on a piece of plastic covered wire at a window.. Have paid less for a night in a 4 star hotel, including breakfast.

7.1 Good
Pros: Near to destination
Cons: Bathroom a little unclean body hair still on bathroom floor
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel, interior of Lounge and building overall very nice. Comfortable bed and waterfall head shower. Spacious room and friendly staff.
Cons: Could hear people closing their room doors which was quite loud as they’re heavy and woke us up a few times. Cost of food quite high (although went to asda nearby instead which was only a few minutes drive). interior of bathroom looked dated and towels were old and odd sizes.
7.9 Good
Pros: Easy to find with good location to Ashton
Cons: Some of the furniture and decoration needs updating but it's not too bad.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a lovely little hotel in a good location for creamfields. The bed was super comfy and we had everything we needed in our room.
Cons: The only downside was the lack of air conditioning, which means on the hottest bank holiday of the year, we were sweating like crazy all night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice pool. Good food and excellent breakfast buffet. Staff were very helpful.
Cons: Not enough tea/coffee pods/milk cartons in the bedroom
6.7 Good
Pros: A great location and from outside the hotel looks fabulous with luscious lawn and flowers etc.
Cons: Inside the hotel it really needs a refurb and is very tired looking. We arrived early and asked for an early check in and was told the only room available had a walk in shower, which we didn't mind. We thought the bathroom had recently had the floor washed as it was all wet. We were out for the rest of the day and it was only late evening / early morning we realised the floor was wet as the toilet was leaking and it really smelled. Obviously, this was only our experience and in a better room we may have had a nicer time.
7.4 Good
Pros: Small but fairly nice gym with pool and spa area. Evening meal was very good. Staff very friendly and welcoming in all areas we used (gym/spa, bar, restaurant, main reception). WI Fi worked well in room.
Cons: Cooked breakfast was poor, cardboard hash browns and what tasted like powdered scrambled egg. Room is very average and main section has barely any lighting so it is permanently dull. Sauna was broken. Resented paying £5 to park.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very polite. Great spacious room with very comfortable bed. Fantastic selection of food on offer at breakfast. And loved the pool.
5.8 Okay
Pros: N/A
Cons: Very noisy (wedding reception).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Nothing
6.3 Good
Pros: Everybody was super friendly and kind to the guests in general. The hotel was quite and I could recover from the trip
Cons: The dinner I didn’t liked that much. The shampoo and shower gel wasn’t refilled after first night but it was obviously empty.

Pros: Breakfast was good, plenty of variety including hot dishes.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very bright hotel, lovely breakfast included in the price .Great VFM !
Cons: My wife has arthritis in her hands, and found it difficult to squeeze the soap/ shower soap dispensers. However, she mentioned this to the young man who was changing them , and he put new dispensers on which were much easier to use.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Having been told that only a continental breakfast was included, we were all pleasantly surprise to find that cooked items were included after all. Very nice too.
Cons: It is unavoidable but, as the room was fairly warm, and it would have been nice to open a window, the noise of the traffic then was a bit much. Not a lot you can do about that............perhaps make the heating more controllable but it was summer after all!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect. Frm receptionist to bar staff was excellent amazing customer services . Enjoyed lovely breakfast. Will 100% visit again
Cons: Loved everything about the hotel. Rooms were immaculately clean. Brilliant. nothing negative
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good room with wet room shower
Cons: Lift was out of order
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great place very modern, great breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very pleasant and helpfull
Cons: The. only thing that was a problem was the shower wasn't draining away design fault in the laying of the tiles ,had to put towel on the floor to stop the water flowing out
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable bed, very friendly staff.
Cons: The window is not sound proof at all so rooms facing the road hear traffic all night very loudly. The bathroom was very strangely design as the wet room shower has poor drainage and water seemed all over the bathroom and into the bedroom laminate (had to use 3 towers to stop water going through the door gap into bedroom). The hotel in general could do with a refurbishment - tired looking, worn out, lift not working, faded colours, stained soft furnishing in room.
7.9 Good
Pros: Staff member who took our details after 20mins in queue and went out of her way to sort food and check everything was okay. Breakfast excellent.
Cons: Staff on reception very slow with long queue
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Staying away from the main building when I was on my own. The pool was tiny.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Nice location and grounds. Spa very nice and good service. Recommended
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful location, lovely staff, great food. The bar has a great vibe.
Cons: Though the bar was great, it gets extremely hot in there, and make sure you have plenty of money as the prices are overly pricey. The bedrooms get very hot too and there is no a air conditioning.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable room. Ate dinner in the restaurant, food very good. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice.
Cons: Service at breakfast was ok, think we had the wrong order delivered but very similar to what we HAD ordered!! Staff pleasant but too many people bringing things from the kitchen, hence the suspected confusion.
7.9 Good
Pros: Although only a buffet service food was good and well organised.
Cons: As a general rule I prefer freshly cooked breakfast to buffet breakfasts/

Cons: Needs updating

5.8 Okay
Pros: Comfy bed
Cons: Hotel in general is looking very tired and good do with a refurbish!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Helpful with disability needs of daughter who is a wheelchair user
Cons: Lift a little tight
5.0 Okay
Pros: The Staff were freindly and helpful. The hotel is close to the town It was comfortable enough and very clean.
Cons: The hotel could do with a major refurbishment or demolition. Some things are just badly worn out. Lighting is particular poor especially in the bathrooms I wasn't too impressed with the breakfast. I thought it was going to be continental which would have been fine but it was a congealed scrambled egg job with "kept warm" sausages, bacon and black pudding. Seemed a bit on the cheap side. I paid a lot for the room over the bank holiday. Too much for the quality of the hotel.
7.1 Good
Pros: Comfy clean rooms
Cons: Drinks way to expensive does not encourage people so drink in the bar all night nearly £9 for 2 pints compared to my local in Leicester £6-60p and then weatherspoons at £4-78p
4.6 Okay
Pros: Location was good for access to city centre
Cons: Certain staff require training in customer service and lose the attitude. Maybe also learn manners
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Cost of breakfast and the fact that reception didn’t tell us that if we pay for it the night before that it would have been half price.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great. Location was ideal for my requirements.
Cons: No complimentary biscuits in the room.
6.7 Good
Pros: For the price everything was fine, nice staff and breakfast
Cons: The building is really run down and shabby - inside and out. The room smelt of stale cigarettes from years ago. There is a boiler or vent that started outside the windows at 5am. There is no sound proofing in the rooms at all so you can hear everything going on in the bathrooms beside, above and below.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: The staff are great. Foods good. Room is comfortable.
Cons: WiFi signal needs improvement as well as speed. Damp floor outside bathroom. Heating almost none existent.
8.3 Excellent

8.3 Excellent

5.0 Okay
Pros: With being a Saint Helens Supporter who tries to attend as many matches as possible, the Hotel is ideally situated for overnight stay.
Cons: The Hotel was very old and quirky. The noise from both outside and inside echoes around the building. A couple decided to argue in the hallways during our stay which resulted in my family and I receiving little to no sleep. I did contact the Hotel and complain with no compensation being offered or given.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Ticked all the right boxes. Clean, comfortable, friendly staff.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good size room with bathroom and coffee/tea making facilities, parking space available
Cons: breakfast isn't included (that wasn't really an issue for us, it just would have been a plus if it was)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This hotel was great value for money. The staff could not have been more helpful. I was travelling to a funeral with my parents, both in their eighties, and the lady who welcomed us on arrival immediately moved us from a top floor family room to a ground floor one, without us even requesting it. The place was clean and comfortable and met all our requirements.
Cons: A small fridge in the room and a coule of light throws for the beds.
7.5 Good
Pros: Just what we needed.
7.5 Good
Pros: Clean and size

7.0 Good
Pros: good for the price, near to where we wanted to be.
Cons: sticky carpet through out. had to go looking for reception and bar staff. breakfast was totally self service, no staff in sight. All in all, a bit of a ghost ship
6.3 Good
Cons: I booked a double , and I was given a twin . To be fair the the young lady did move us but into a smoking room . I wasn’t happy about it but had no option .
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: It’s close to the motorway and some locals (not people staying at the hotel) came in with a portable speaker and played some nice music.
Cons: It’s very tired, ridiculously hot, the pool closes early, the double room we booked ended up being a ‘family room’ with wonky bunk beds in them and the ‘double’ bed was 2 singles pushed together. I know this happens, but they were completely different heights, had a big gap between them and were uncomfortable. There was chewing gum on the carpets, dirt on the floors, hair in the bath tub, and layers of dirt on the air vent in the bathroom. However, the thing that really shocked me and made me angry was the fire alarm in the room. It was taped up with plastic bags so it wasn’t able to work. That goes beyond cleanliness and affects health and safety. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to stay here.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We arrived. We slept. We left. Didn't eat or drink or use leisure facilities.
Cons: Reception staff efficient but not friendly. Not a problem, just an observation.
