Highlights of Budapest

Budapest is in fact made up of two cities, Buda and Pest, which were united in 1873. The city is an architectural paradise, with examples of the Ottoman, Baroque, Renaissance, Classical, Art Nouveau and Gothic styles. Buda contains the city's old town, Buda Castle, as well as Gellért Hill with its Statue of Liberty and citadel. You can see the city laid out before you in remarkable panoramic views from this vantage point. In Pest you will find St. Stephen's Basilica, with its ornate Neo-Classical design, as well as Budapest's zoo.
