Holidays in Sydney

Sydney is Australia's largest and most populated city. It is located on the eastern coast of Australia and is the capital of the state of New South Wales. With it's breathtaking harbour, iconic sandy beaches and fabulous city centre, you'll find there are many interesting things to see and do on your Sydney holidays.

When to take your Sydney holidays

Sydney has a fortunate climate in that travelers can experience comfortable temperatures at any time of year. To catch the summer months, traveling between November and February is recommended, however from March until May, it is still reasonably mild and usually above 20 degrees. The gateway to the city is via Sydney's busy international airport. It is located about 9km from the city centre, which you can easily reach by train, bus or taxi.

What to do on your Sydney holidays

A good place to start your Sydney holidays would be at the spectacular harbourside. At Circular Quay, you can take an enjoyable ferry ride to see both the famous Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge from the water. After docking at Darling Harbour, you will find a wide selection of restaurants, bars and shops, and quite often live music and street performers, too.

The city centre is always bustling with energy and is full of interesting galleries, museums, parks and theatres to explore. You can get around easily by foot and this is highly recommended as there is usually a lot of traffic. The Royal Botanic Gardens and Hyde Park are wonderful places to have a picnic and feed the local wildlife. For shopping enthusiasts, head to Pitt Street Mall or George Street for the best speciality shops. The recently restored Queen Victoria Building is also a must-see, even for window shoppers, with its high ceilings and beautifully designed interior.
