Where’s hot in November: short-haul

While you won’t find many places where it’s hot in November in Europe for a sunny escape, you will have a little more luck if you extend your flight duration by a few hours.

1. Dubai

Average November temperature: 24°C

When considering warm countries in November, Dubai is a classic choice. Sitting on the very trendy Persian Gulf, its unparalleled coastline is packed with luxurious hotels and vast resorts boasting pristine beaches. The temperatures in Dubai in November are hot but not uncomfortable, with the average sitting at around 24°C. This makes it the ideal month to visit for both relaxation and sightseeing.

It’s a city that’s managed to fuse the traditional and modern with intoxicating results. In Old Dubai, you’ll find that the smells of spices permeate the air from the local souks. Venture into the city centre and you’ll find space-age shopping centres and even the tallest building in the world: the Burj Khalifa.

Top tip: if you’ve always wanted to do a desert safari, November is a good time. The nights are quite mild, so all you’ll need is a cardigan.

Where’s hot in November in the rest of the world

If you’re willing to fly further, there’s no shortage of hot destinations in November. For many countries, the month is the perfect sweet spot where the weather is warm, rainfall is low and the beaches are quiet. From relaxed resort towns to buzzing party capitals, these are my top picks.

2. Cancun, Mexico

A young Caucasian woman with a smile on her face strolls along the seaside, with traditional thatched huts visible in the background.

Average November temperature: 26°C

For guaranteed sunshine, swimming in crystal-clear waters and unlimited margaritas, Cancun is the place to be. Mexico is one of the hottest places to go in November – particularly if you head for its Caribbean coastline where idyllic Cancun is nestled.

November marks the very end of the Caribbean hurricane season, so it’s a good time to go if you’d rather not experience extreme weather. What’s more, if you’re hoping to book a last-minute sun getaway without splashing too much cash, you’ll likely be able to bag a decent deal on flights. In fact, average return flights sit at under £700 in November.

When it comes to accommodation, Cancun’s Hotel Zone is the place to be for luxury resorts and easy access to the sand. Or, if you’re after something a little more secluded, consider hopping across the water to Isla Mujeres (the Island of Women). Its powder-soft North Beach is among the best beaches in the world, plus you can visit an ancient Mayan temple on the island’s south coast.

3. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Average November temperature: 27°C

November is the beginning of Malaysia’s dry season, making it a great month to visit its vibrant capital, Kuala Lumpur. The city has so much to offer, whether you’re backpacking on a budget or want a luxurious experience.

Speaking of luxury, you’ll be able to afford to stay somewhere pretty swish in Kuala Lumpur. The average hotel prices sit at just £32 per night. Eating out is also typically very friendly on the wallet, especially at the city’s incredible food markets.

When it comes to sightseeing in Kuala Lumpur, there’s a few must-sees. This includes the iconic Petronas Twin Towers and the ornate King’s Palace. Just make sure you carry an umbrella with you in case of an unexpected rain shower.

4. Taipei City, Taipei

Average November temperature: 20°C

Another country that’s hot in November is Taiwan. In fact, the month is considered the best time to visit its capital, Taipei City, thanks to very low rainfall and lovely warm temperatures of 20°C+.

Never considered Taipei for a city break before? Think again. This metropolis sits on the island’s north coast and it offers up a true melting pot of culture, history and cuisine. Dry weather in November makes sightseeing in Taipei City a pleasure, with highlights being the Fo Guang Shan Monastery (with its huge golden Buddha statue) and the Taipei 101 Observatory.

It’s also an ideal time of year to visit nearby Taroko Gorge National Park for a breathtaking hike. Back in the city, why not venture up Elephant Mountain for spectacular city skyline views? Sunset is one of the best times to go – just make sure you wear insect repellent for any creepy crawlies hiding in the undergrowth.

And once the sun’s gone down? Make your way to Shilin Night Market where you’ll find no shortage of delicious street food vendors.

5. Singapore

Average November temperature: 27°C

Singapore is one of the hottest countries in November to visit, with average temperatures in the mid to high 20s.

While many visit Singapore en route to elsewhere in Asia (or Australia), it’s a destination worth visiting in its own right. There are heaps of things to do, from family-friendly attractions like the theme parks of Sentosa Island to the otherworldly botanics and stunning tree sculptures at the Gardens by the Bay.

Then there’s Singapore’s food scene. You can dine on any cuisine you fancy in the city, although the city’s hawker markets are my favourite for local bites like creamy laksa soup and comforting Hainanese chicken rice.

6. Orlando, USA

Average November temperature: 21°C

For a family-friendly November holiday in the sun, head to Orlando. This Floridian city is blessed with mild yet still warm temperatures, perfect weather to enjoy its incredible theme parks.

If you visit towards the end of the month, you’ll find most of the parks have just launched their special Christmas events – from Grinchmas™ at Universal Studios to Mickey Mouse’s Christmas Party at Disney World. As well as magical decorations, you’ll also experience festive-themed shows, festive parades and incredible firework displays.

Plan ahead to get the best deals on flights, hotels and theme park entrance. According to KAYAK data, you should be able to get accommodation for around £116 per night.

7. Krabi, Thailand

A man cruises effortlessly on his scooter along a beautiful winding road, immersed in verdant tropical scenery, with the imposing presence of a cliff providing a dramatic backdrop in the distance.

Average November temperature: 27°C

If golden beaches, exceptional hospitality and delicious cuisine are on your agenda, head to Krabi in southwest Thailand. The region offers up over 200 kilometres of coastline to explore, all fringed by the sparkling waters of the Andaman Sea.

It’s one of the hottest places to visit in November, with temperatures typically soaring well into the high 20°Cs. The month is also when the region transitions from the wet season to the dry, so you can expect a good balance of blue-sky days.

8. Montego Bay, Jamaica

Average November temperature: 26°C

November marks the end of the Caribbean hurricane season, making it an ideal month to hop over for a beach escape. And if you’re looking at where’s hot in November, Jamaica will definitely fit the bill.

Montego Bay sits on the island nation’s north coast and is the perfect spot for a lazy sunshine getaway. In November, the weather is mostly dry but the peak season crowds are yet to materialise – meaning you’ll be able to bag a cheaper deal on a hotel than you would in December or January.

Swimming in the balmy Caribbean Sea, lazing beneath coconut palms and sampling the resort city’s water sports can all be on your agenda. You’ll also have the Montego Bay Marine Park on your doorstep if you fancy snorkelling in vibrant coral reefs.

9. São Paulo, Brazil

Average November temperature: 21°C

If a balmy city break is more your vibe, consider São Paulo. Brazil’s biggest city is packed with unique attractions – and November’s manageable temperatures in the low 20°Cs makes it an ideal month for a sightseeing adventure.

Spend sunnier days admiring the city’s hundreds of colourful street art murals or hiking up to Pico do Jaraguá for epic vistas of the entire metropolis. You could also spend an afternoon hopping between the shops and cafés on bustling Paulista Avenue. Or why not venture out of the city for the day for a thrilling outdoor adventure such as river rafting or ziplining?

10. Bridgetown, Barbados

High coral cliffs line the turquoise beach with white waves rolling into the shore on a scenic sky.

Average November temperature: 27°C

If you’re wondering where else you can get a tan in November, Barbados is a safe bet. It’s another Caribbean gem to add to your hot holiday radar, with beautiful beaches, sumptuous food and an infectiously vibrant culture to boot.

Bridgetown is the island’s capital and a great place to base yourself if you fancy a mix of lazing around on white-sand beaches and exploring the island’s historic attractions. The city’s old town is actually a UNESCO World Heritage site, with tonnes of impeccably preserved colonial-era sites to admire.

If sunshine is more what you’re seeking, a stay in a beachfront hotel should definitely be your priority. And with average hotel costs coming in at £136 per night, you’ll be able to afford something pretty special.

Where’s hot and cheap in November?

One of the best things about booking a holiday to a hot country in November is fewer crowds. Prices also tend to drop, so you can get far more bang for your buck. My top pick for a hot and cheap holiday in November is Kuala Lumpur, where hotels can be as little as £32 per night. If you’re keen to stay in Europe, southern Spain can still be warm at this time of year.
