There there are plenty of places around the world which are blessed with warm, sunny days throughout the month. Head down to the Southern Hemisphere where November marks the end of spring and the start of summer. Or stay a little closer to home with a trip to one of Europe’s balmier locales (think paradise islands and culture-packed cities).

One of the best things about booking a holiday to a hot country in November is fewer crowds. Prices also tend to drop, so you can get far more bang for your buck.

Want to know how hot Portugal is in November? The answer is still beach-worthy warm. Especially if you venture to the idyllic island of Madeira.

The Portuguese-owned archipelago sits in the Atlantic Ocean, just off North Africa’s coast, and it’s blessed with long summers and very mild winters. November is still a brilliant time to visit for a balmy escape filled with beach strolls, delicious food, wine tastings and hikes through spectacular volcanic scenery. Funchal (the capital) makes a great base, but there are plenty of other resort towns for those seeking a more laid-back vibe.

Will temperatures are usually in the low to mid-20s, you might experience the odd shower. Did I mention the sea temperature is also 21 °C? Pack a raincoat along with your swimsuit!

While you may get some unpredictable weather in November, any rain is usually short-lived. A brief shower also gives you the perfect excuse to duck into one of Seville‘s fabulous wine bars or tapas restaurants.

The Seville European Film Festival runs early in the month, with both local and international films on offer. As prices drop and the crowds disperse, you can explore Seville’s rooftops, shopping districts and attractions in relative peace and quiet.

Top tip: Maria Luisa Park is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon thanks to its gorgeous plants, sculptures and fountains.

Puerto Vallarta is a beautiful resort town on Mexico’s Pacific Coast known for its white-sand beaches and relaxed vibes.  With the country’s rainy season clearing up in mid-October, November is the ideal time to experience warm weather with fewer crowds and better prices.

November also marks the second half of Puerto Vallarta’s autumn shoulder season. Expect to find some excellent prices on flights and accommodation, particularly in the first half of the month. In addition, it’s also when the resort hosts the Gourmet International Festival. The ten-day festival celebrates everything culinary, with renowned local and international chefs presenting cooking demos and wine-pairing tutorials.

Prefer to be outside enjoying Mexico’s natural beauty? Warm holidays in November also give you the chance to spot the first pods of Humpback Whales that migrate to the coastline between November and April.

Keep searching ‘Where is hot in November short-haul from the UK?’. Say hello to tropical Cape Verde. Lying off the coast of West Africa, this collection of islands is blessed with warm weather all year round. And while July to October may be the rainy season, November is dry and sublimely sunny.

Cape Verde’s beaches are absolutely beautiful, to say the least. You may encounter some strong winds in the latter half of the month in Boa Vista and Sal. This makes them particularly popular islands for kitesurfing and windsurfing.

Prefer to keep your feet on land? Head inland where it’s cooler for a hike through lush rainforests. Wherever you stay in Cape Verde, you’ll find scenic hiking trails. For some of the best ones, though, make your way to Santiago, Santo Antao or Fogo.

Sometimes called India‘s ‘party capital’, Goa is a dream to visit in November. Picture hardly any rain, sunny skies, and hot (but not too hot) temperatures. The water is particularly pleasant at this time of year too, with few waves and average temperatures of around 29 °C. Be sure to bring your swimsuit and try your hand at some water sports like water skiing, boogie boarding and scuba diving.

You’ll get the best weather in the second half of the month, but this is also when the crowds tend to pick up. Want to sample the city’s famous nightlife? You’ll find heaps of nightclubs like Sinq and Capetown Cafe, as well as some beach parties after dark. 12 November also marks the start of Diwali (the Festival of Light) in 2023. Expect to see colourful festivities like lantern lighting, symbolic parades and plenty of feasting, especially in Goa’s capital, Panaji.

Want to know where’s hot and cheap in November? Bangkok is always a good bet. And if you’ve never been to Thailand, it’s a brilliant place to begin your adventure before heading off to a beachy locale.

The Thai capital is renowned for its scorching hot weather which can make wandering around uncomfortable. Nevertheless, November sees temperatures drop into the blissful early 30s. It’s also the very end of the rainy season, making it a great month for some city sightseeing without the humidity.

There’s so much to see in Bangkok, too. Breathtaking temples, royal palaces, vibrant street food markets, bustling shopping centres. Need I go on?

November is the perfect time to visit Cape Town as you’ll be squeezing in just before the peak holiday season begins in December. Make sure to venture to the city’s gorgeous beaches, such as Clifton and Camps Bay, where you can relax on butter-soft sand or take a dip in the crystal-clear sea.

Table Mountain is essential viewing (whether you’ve visited before or not). Elsewhere, the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens are a must-see. They’re beautiful throughout the year, but the end of November is also when they kick off the Summer Sunset Concerts. The festival host live music acts from around the world, with something to suit all tastes.

Fancy exploring South America this autumn? Peru may be famed for the iconic Machu Picchu, but Lima should also be on your radar. November is the end of the capital’s shoulder season, so you can look forward to sightseeing with a good amount of sunshine.

It’s also a cheaper time to visit the city, plus the lack of crowds makes it easier to find a reservation at the best restaurants in the city. This includes Central, the fantastic flagship venue of renowned Peruvian chef, Virgilio Martinez.

Visitors to Lima in November should consider taking advantage of the drier weather to hike the Lomas de Lucumo. The eco-park lies just outside the city and is awash with lush valleys, ancient caves and rugged rock formations. And if you experience a little rain? No to worry. Lima is brimming with fascinating museums like the Museo Larco which houses hundreds of artefacts covering thousands of years of history.

Australia is another great spot for a warm holiday in November. Why? The month marks the start of the country’s summer season.

Summer doesn’t always mean sunshine, though. It can also get pretty rainy during the hottest part of the year. That’s why a trip to Brisbane (known as Brissie to the locals) in November should be on your agenda. The summer rainfall won’t be in full force by this point, daily temperatures sit comfortably in the mid-20s AND there are usually fewer crowds.

November is a particularly good time to experience the city’s epic natural attractions too, including the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary and D’Aguilar National Park.
