Cons: Loved it
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Intimacy of this old home conversion.
Cons: Nothing.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: The Mirabeau Suite was a nice large room, tastefully furnished with lovely views over the town. The suite had a beautiful big bathroom with a huge tub and plenty of hot water.
Cons: In reading reviews before I stayed, I did notice a mentions of the bed being "rather soft". If you like a firm bed as I so, this is quite an understatement. The only downside to an otherwise perfect stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully and tastefully decorated 17th century home. What a fabulous atmosphere and restful environment only a couple of minutes walk from the town centre. Really helpful and friendly hosts
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very well located, beautiful property, great hospitality, food, very friendly owners, pet friendly, very good room size, clean room with very good facilities.
Cons: Location, staff, food, setting
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely big room, element of luxury, clean, friendly staff, super location.
Cons: Breakfast was a little basic.
4.0 Okay
Pros: In the centre of bakewell martin greeted us very polite helpful knowledgeable
Cons: We were in a basement. My partner kept banging his head on low head for door. I fell over the step I am short. Bed was really uncomfortable. My partner can sleep on anything normally but he tossed all night. We had no view out of window unless we went out door. My partner used to go to youth hostels and he thought that was one of them. I said no not what I paid. I ended up in tears as was suppose to be a luxury birthday weekend for him as it was his birthday. Will not be returning. The cost needs to be a lot less a night
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything.
Cons: Requested continental breakfast in messenger, had no response from the hotel.

Pros: Breakfast was excellent, with variety of cooked choices meals to choose from, staff were very friendly, full of smiles and very helpful, the room was fine and comfortable, had good nights sleep with good view over the square. Location was excellent and close by for local walks, didn't always need to take car. Thank you for an enjoyable stay.
Cons: The sink in the bathroom was a bit low but nothing else, all was very good
7.0 Good
Pros: The location.
Cons: The food at the hotel in the evening was not of the standard previously experienced and despite having booked in the restaurant we had to eat in the bar area. The breakfast on the second morning was awful. Having waited 50 minutes and having two inedible burnt omelettes served we had to leave the restaurant.
6.0 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: Slow running shower
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location. Efficient and friendly staff. Comfortable rooms and useful parking.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were excellent, friendly and efficient and nothing was too much trouble. Parking was nearby, once I'd found out where it was. The food, both at dinner and breakfast was lovely. Depending on which room you are in there can be some traffic noise but then it is ideally situated right in the heart of the town so everything is just 5 minutes walk away.
Cons: The pillows were a little lumpy compared to my ones at home but I still managed to sleep OK.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly people their staff for great especially David behind the bar couldn't do enough for you
Cons: All good

3.0 Mediocre
Cons: room was tired and dusty in places, the floorboards were loose so everytime someone walked past our room, our bed bounced and woke us up and the room was far too hot even though our heating was off so it was a very restless night.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed at East Lodge the weekend of the Bakewell Christmas Markets. We spent the day at the busy markets, before checking in at East Lodge. It's in a lovely location. The staff are very polite and helpful. We were shown to our rooms. Very comfortable. We stayed in a small double for one night. We had a evening meal. Three courses. The food was cooked well arrived hot on pre heated plates. Breakfast was served in the same dinning room as the evening meal. Afraid to say this was just about average. For myself the bacon was over cooked and unlike the evening meal was not very hot. Would we stay again thou......yes
Cons: No complaints.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful, elegantly understated country-house hotel. Superb birthday lunch in a private room - the beetroot salad, beef cheek and apricot bread and butter pudding were all delicious. Service was outstanding. A very relaxing and enjoyable stay. The gardens are glorious.
Cons: We had a small double with a wet room. No privacy - window blind next to WC not working, so had to hang a towel over it. Water lukewarm.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The originality was great and the surrounding gardens fantastic
Cons: NA
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely traditional hotel with excellent manager in Christian, felt really welcome
Cons: A silly thing but no draw for jumpers etc
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were professional, friendly and helpful and made our stay that more enjoyable.
Cons: Nothing.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was excellent with a very good choice and well presented. Staff were pleasant and helpful, but with one important exception. East Lodge is about 3 miles from Chatsworth House and within easy reach of Matlock, Bakewell, Haddon Hall and many other parts of the beautiful Peak District.
Cons: Unfortunately our stay got off to a poor start. We were welcomed and shown to our room ok, but there was no information pack in the room. No sign of any password for the Internet and when requested told that no-one ever asked for it. We were really upset by the negative attitude of the member of staff. Ultimately we discovered that the welcome information was loaded on the smart tv but this we were not told and if we had not used the television we would never have known. The bedroom had nowhere sensible to plug in the kettle which we eventually tracked down in the wardrobe, and had to use it on the already cluttered bedside table! The bathroom had no window and had a substantial growth of mould with the accompanying foist smell. Overall disappointing.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff were fantastic, friendly, helpful and made my wife and I feel really welcome. Beautiful setting and surroundings with peace and quiet made it a welcome retreat. The bed was very comfortable and a good night sleep was welcome. The restaurant was out of this world! A nice array of options and the meal we chose was beautifully cooked. The passion fruit cheesecake was the best cheesecake I have ever had. Comfortable conservatory to retire too after dinner to unwind and relax.
Cons: Some parts of the room were a little dated, but all added character and the shower over the bath was a little cramped. Clouted my head a couple of times on the low ceiling as I descended the stairs to the toilet and washbasin. The free WiFi kept dropping out and losing connection (but it was good to feel out of touch from interruptions!)
5.7 Okay
Pros: A generally pleasant ambience but let down by quite a lot of poorly managed details for a £150+ per night hotel. The staff were generally nice & friendly, as well as courteous. The grounds are very attractive & well-maintained.
Cons: A number of areas looked tired. Downstairs gents toilets were scruffy & dirty Limited restaurant opening times (latest ordering time on a Friday evening: 8:00pm even when we struggled to arrive in time due to traffic delays) Disappointing, over-priced food (a requested "medium" rib-eye steak was served virtually raw. No enquiry from waitress about why when I left my steak largely untouched) Poor standard of starters. Fairly small breakfast served with overdone eggs
9.4 Excellent
Pros: Polite and helpful front desk staff, who simultaneously wait tables in the restaurant adjacent to reception without a hitch. Massive and well equipped bathroom in the room I was allocated. Great location in the Peak District, near Chatsworth House, but also next to the Peak Shopping Village.
Cons: Carpets could do with updating.

Pros: Food and staff excellent
Cons: Room a bit dated
6.0 Good
Pros: Staff were friendly and very helpful. Food was good
Cons: We were on the ground floor so when people in the room above were in it was very noisy as the floor boards creaked very loudly also the rubbish bins were right out side our room so when the bar shuts there is a lot of noise outside by the bins
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were amazing and kept us up to date with all the changes due to the challenges of Covid 19, their hygiene and cleanliness was superb The food was good and well presented The room was very clean, warm, and comfortable, and the shower was nice and powerful
Cons: The only complaint we have is that with our room being on the ground floor we were disturbed by the creaking floorboards of the room above
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location fantastic with great walks. Food, staff and accommodation top marks
Cons: Shower hose on last legs
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent. Room clean and tidy
Cons: The mattress wasn't comfortable, seemed to dip in the middle. Asked for extra milk for the room which didn't arrive
7.9 Good
Pros: Good location
Cons: On the first morning of our stay we had to wait over an hour for our breakfast. On the second morning of our two night stay we spoke to the staff regarding breakfast and it seemed it wasn’t the regular chef the day before. Once the regular chef was made aware of this he personally apologised and breakfast was served on time and was very good.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful at all times plus the quality of breakfast and evening meal could not be faulted. Superb value for money using discounted room rates and using the Dine Club.
Cons: The only minor issue I had was the bed size in the comfy room, in particular the length and wooden guard at the end.
6.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast very good. Location very nice.
Cons: Very small room with one window looking at a brick wall and the other with frosted glass to shield the rubbish bins
5.0 Okay
Pros: Breakfast very good / bed very comfortable/ staff very friendly
Cons: Room needs attention to paint & wallpaper coming off cover missing of shower boiler very noisy but lovely and warm
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is perfect, the staff are great and can’t do enough for you. The food was top drawer. The room was lovely.
Cons: Nothing at all!

Pros: All in all a really nice stay. Rooms excellent. Friendly staff. Walks great.
Cons: They don’t make cocktails. Not a deal breaker but why not make an old fashioned cocktail?
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful setting both inside and outside. Our room was very cosy and the bathroom toiletries were amazing.
Cons: Very small portions for the evening meal. My starter was a butternut panacotta which was a tablespoon in size sat in the middle of a dinner plate. I was speechless. Food was tasteful but not value for money.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good food excellent staff. Beautiful village just a few minutes from the fabulous farm shop.
6.0 Good
Pros: The staff are great. Characterful is how I'd describe them. A welcome contrast to 'corporate cyborgs'. This is a great location for some lovely walks - straight out the door.
Cons: The wifi does not work for Apple devices. So if you use an iPhone, Macbook, iPad etc. make sure you've got plenty of data. Staff suggested need to turn firewall off - but of course there isn't one on a iPad or iPhone. The coffee machine in the breakfast room is a waste of space. No cost saving on staff time when they spend all their time trying to explain to guests how it works. There were a few issues with the room that I reported when we checked out that need sorting i.e seal on glass shower screen needs replacing. Not sure I want to eat my breakfast with quite so many dogs watching - but I did get a free sausage for sitting under the table and behaving myself. And I got my tummy tickled.
6.3 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: Very expensive for what it is
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The team were great, Tracey in particular was fabulous, and the food was lovely. The shortbread and the fudge in the room was delicious when we had a cup of tea.
Cons: For two people, the bed could’ve been bigger.
