Mövenpick Resort & Spa Dead Sea - Sweimeh - Building

8.7 Excellent (12,062 reviews)

Located in a traditional village setting nestled among lush gardens, the resort stands on the northern shores of the Dead Sea, at the lowest point on earth. With your well-being and balance in mind, this resort is an oasis of tranquility. Relax in our aw ard-winning Arabian Dead Sea Zara Spa with breathtaking views of the healing waters. A revitalizing and therapeutic experience awaits you. 346 rooms and suites offer both air-conditioning and ceiling fans as well as balcony with garden or valley views.
7.0 Good
Pros: The arrival drink was exceptional - in both taste and how it was served (wait to you see how!). We were parked, roomed, changed and dipping ourselves into the dead sea all within an hour - and we loved that part - what an experience. This hotel is worth booking for this experience alone. The on-duty life guard was awesome - explained the how-to process to us first-timers really well- and even helped us with the mud bath! Beds very comfortable and the rooms bright with all the modern touches.
Cons: A few things definitely spoiled the visit. The biggest was paying 52 JDR for two pretty average pizzas, one average salad and two diet pepsi. If we'd bought another pizza this would have equalled the price of the entire room charge. This was disappointing. The next thing was the Zara Spa sauna was the coldest I'd ever experienced - and I specifically entered for this and the steam room. Waste of 25 JDR which again is not cheap. Other smaller things like the TV in our room and one of the bedside lights being faulty were just a little annoying. I attempted to call the guest services hotline to report but no-one answered which is kinda unusual for a hotel of this status.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was stunning and the sea view was amazing! The rooms were clean and warm. Everything we'd expect from Hilton. breakfast was good fun with a wide selection of food!
Cons: The toilet was separated from the shower area which I quite liked - but I'm not sure if it's something everyone would like. The Wifi wasn't free!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing everything was great
9.4 Excellent
Pros: Services and staff were great. Dining was impeccable.
Cons: Room could have been a bit cleaner...floor felt like it was dirty and the room was an upgrade.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything goid
Cons: Nothing
4.0 Okay
Pros: Although I didn't use it, the terrace with the semi-view to the sea was nice.
Cons: I had stayed the previous night at Kempinski but had to move because of a huge wedding. When I arrived to the luggage scanner, the guy forced my suitcase handle down, even though there was a luggage marker from Kempinski with a rubber band around the handle. When my luggage came out, the handle would not extend. When I checked in, I saw the guy bending my passport in half to put it in the scanner, I asked him not to bend it and he said "no problem". He thought I was concerned about scanning the passport but I was concerned about it staying in good condition long term. I asked the manager to help with the luggage handle being broken and after looking at it, he accused me of lying- that I arrived with the damage. Unbelievable.  1 night at the Movenpick caused more damage to my passport and luggage than years of travel.  Further, the toilet did not flush properly, the drain in the shower did not work so I was standing in water. I had an early dinner at the bar by the pool to see the sunset and the bartender/server was the best person I encountered; the food was just ok and not satisfactory for the price. At breakfast I asked for an omelette and the guy made some invention that was half runny fried egg, half scrambled something- definitely not an omelette. Overall, I am shocked that my final bill was not much less than Kempinksi- where everything is impeccable. I would never recommend the Movenpick over Kempinksi- it's like flying business vs economy for almost the same price.
6.3 Good
Pros: The Italian restaurant was very good, and the views from the one beach were wonderful.
Cons: The check-in process was extremely slow and took almost 40 minutes despite the fact there was only one person in line in front of me. The hotel -- despite my having a confirmation with the correct dates -- had mis-entered my arrival and departure dates into their system. As a result, they almost didn't let my car into the gate given that I wasn't on the reservation list, and check-in took a long time. Several staff members also had something of a poor attitude, treating me as if I was bothering them by asking for directions. One individual, who was handing out towels, spoke to me very rudely -- insinuating I wasn't a guest there -- since it took me a minute to find my "get a towel" card. (The fact that they give one towel per person -- and that you need to carry around a card to get it -- is ludicrous if they claim to be more than a three-star hotel.) There were several other little issues that made the experience somewhat unpleasant. One was the inclusion of a large service charge on every bill. In addition, the hotel had no real shop -- except a souvenir shop -- thus requiring that guests pay exorbitant rates for everything from a bottle of water to a piece of bread. In addition, as a steak lover, I was angry that they had shut down the steakhouse for Ramadan, which hardly seems justified on any religious grounds given that they continued to serve alcohol. Lastly, the breakfast buffet was atrocious and minimalist with floppy waffles and not even an omelet bar. Really, it was a three-star breakfast equivalent to what you would expect at a Holiday Inn Express...which is a decent characterisation of the whole hotel with the exception of the wonderful location and view. Shape up.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The variety of bread and breakfast coffee.
Cons: I must express my utter disappointment about the quality of this hotel, especially regarding the room and the spa in the hotel. Moevenpick is part of the Accor group in the Premium brands, but I must say that the level found in this hotel does not reflect these standards in any way. I am really very disappointed. Let's start from a fundamental point, the importance of communication. How is it possible that in hotels of this level there is no staff able to speak English correctly? Especially at the reception? I took some pictures in the room to support my disappointment. The edge of the tub was dirty and musty, and the shower head also. The intercom in the bathroom with free connection cables .... very dangerous with water and humidity in a bathroom. We had to call the reception to get a pair of sleepers. Another very painful point was the hotel spa: there was no staff who could explain the treatments in English. After more than half an hour of conversation with the only operator who spoke English, we decided to undergo treatments, considering the notoriety of the beneficial effects of the Dead Sea. The operator asked us to pay immediately before the treatments (which is quite unusual). Although we had agreed on the time, we had to wait almost an hour before we could start the treatment. There was no one to whom we could ask for information. Private access to the sea proved to be a further disappointment. Difficult, the beach was extremely poorly maintained. Everything is absolutely unacceptable from a hotel of this internationally renowned standard! Ridiculous!

Pros: I did not like anything
Cons: Stuff attitude, fixing telephones inside room and better room service quality
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Room with view, breakfast full of choices, people at reception really kind and helpful. Parking and car valet
Cons: It rained and was cold so we cannot try beach mud and dead sea experience. Restaurant good enough.
7.0 Good
Pros: The hotel itself is lovely. Although there was a strange smell of sewage outside. The area itself is very remote. People should be aware of this before booking. If you are happy to stay in the hotel then it’s fine but there’s not much choice around in terms of restaurants bars or anything of entertainment
Cons: Prices of food and drink far too high
5.4 Okay
Pros: The location was the only thing worth it but there are other hotels in the same are you should consider before staying to the Hilton.
Cons: -Don’t expect anyone to handle your luggage, this didn’t happen - during security screening, our Bluetooth speaker was confiscated as it is not allowed in the premises. We asked why, they said because we were not allowed to use it outside, which we were not intending to. - ironically someone in the room above ours decided to have a party at 2am, we called front desk to report the noise and we were told this was “someone working”. We insisted that they should check, an hour later (3am) the noise stopped. We don’t know if someone checked and put a stop to it or if they finally went to bed. - the coffee at breakfast was greasy and possibly reheated a good 5 times.

Cons: Flies everywhere - covering the food in the breakfast area
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, easy access to the beach. They provided mud, towels and everything you need to enjoy the beach and swimming pools. The heated pool felt amazing in the cooler winter weather. Very comfortable bedroom and an amazing breakfast with everything you can think of. Had dinner in the Lebanese restaurant and it was delicious
Cons: Nothing at all that I can think of
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, reasonable price, delicious breakfast. Everyone was great at the hilton, especially the restaurant staff, they were very attentive and the food was great. Also at the beach the staff there were amazing! I will definitely go back.
Cons: The bathroom and towels could be cleaner. We found hairs on the towels and in the tub.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: Beds and pillows are very comfortable, the room view is excellent, room amenities and electrical plugs are great, the shower is very nice.
Cons: It would be great if there is a weighing scale in the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Best view of the Dead Sea, private beach, amazing food. Attentive and helpful staff. We got upgraded on check in. Unforgettable experience
Cons: Nothing to dislike, the food and drinks can be a bit expensive when you add tax etc however this is the case for most of Jordan.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Kempinski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea is an amazing place where to spend some days relaxing and exploring Jordan and the Dead Sea. Food is very good Location is amazing The staff is nice and attentive
Cons: Breakfast is way too expensive Smoking is allowed everywhere and this is annoying: even if smoking in public places is legal in Jordan, very bad smell all over the place is not a good feeling. It may have been a casualty but the guy at the reception made a big mistake with our check out and gave us the bill and the credit card details of another room: it can happen, but from such hotel, I don't expect that the number of my cc can be given to someone else.
9.1 Excellent
Cons: Sometimes it was difficult to get pool side service.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The views are breath taking. We were offered an upgrade for a reasonable price and it was totally worth it. Staff are super friendly and helpful.
Cons: Some rooms look a bit aged dated. Having Nespresso’s in the room would be a plus for this type of hotels. A better selection of alcohol.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Pools and walking areas
Cons: cockroach in balcony and bathroom
6.3 Good
Pros: Location was good
Cons: Too big and dated. Looking tired in places. Our room had mould and wasn’t that clean.
7.0 Good
Pros: Great heated pools. Breakfast was good as well. Private Dead Sea area. Nice helpful staff. Please try SPA its very good. Also the restaurants are good, well at leat 2 of them.
Cons: New Year Gala - its not worth it. Planning with it also could be much much better, all the lines/queues took too long. In Gala - buffet closes at 21:30. It was like in basement bit reminded like bad restaurant, with too loud music and some kind of lottery. Ow almost forgot, around 22:30 electricity went off and it was fixed only after midnight - 00:30. So yes New Year started in Darkness. And no, do not book that New Year Gala. Its really not worth the money you will pay for it.

Pros: Heated infinity pool with wonderful view on the Dead Sea. Nice small beach on the Dead Sea with all comfort.

Pros: Exterior ambiance Location of hotel Buffet breakfast and dinner Friendly staff - only at beach and restaurants Indian chef - he specially prepared Indian food for my family

7.0 Good
Pros: We'll appointed facility as expected from the Marriott Good access to the dead sea Lovely pools and outlook Reasonable breakfast
Cons: Unusual policy of no outside food allowed into the resort. Scanned on entry (not super thoroughly). But what is the reason for this policy? To make even more money on mini bar snacks? Stick to the room rate guys. People will dine in your restaurant if the foods good.

Pros: Great views and nice pools. Good food and staff were super friendly and helpful
Cons: Pricey. Food and beverages were expensive. Also no places nearby to buy cheaper.

7.9 Good
Pros: The pools and the beach and the fantastic views of the Dead Sea.
Cons: The Hotel needs renovation. We arrived at 4:30 pm and still had to wait for 45 minutes to get our room. The staff who welcomed us at the check in counter was very rude. On top of this, we were given a room with an A/c that wasn't working. Thankfully after that the deputy Manager Mr. Ahmed Sbeitan upgraded us to a better room. Service was extremely slow at Champions Restaurant.
7.9 Good
Pros: Spa!! Spa!!! Spa!!!
Cons: Some management needs help when it comes to New Years party, yes they lost electricity... but you had a year to prepare, and it still turned out to be sh*t show. Do better Marriott!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous landscaped grounds and pools. Easy access down to the beach. Great breakfast buffet.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked the breakfast, friendliness of the staff, the smell in the hall, the piano live music in the afternoon, the parking, access to Dead Sea...
Cons: I did not like the fact that the payment management was not clear for me from the beginning. The price shown did not match with the price I paid and I was only informed when checking out. Additionally, I did not like to "pay" a security deposit that was used to settle down te actual payment of my stay.

Pros: Breakfast was brilliant!
Cons: Should have had hot tubs in the rooms
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The source was awesome and the staff very very nice.
Cons: It's expensive of course...
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The emplacement of the hotel is amazing, surrounded by nature, tranquil. Basicly, everywhere you look around you see a beautiful landscape. Also the hotel itself is nice designed with a lot of wood and natural colours and materials. The thermal pool is a great experience. The food was really good.
Cons: It is an amazing propriety, probably the most beautiful hotel in the world, but the management needs to pay more attention to the maintenance of the propriety, as it gets old and the staff is not actually a 5 star one. Is not very bad, but with a little effort, everything could be absolutely amazing.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: How isolated and quiet, clean air, amazing scenery, cozy wooden design and spacious rooms, food was tasty
Cons: The pool temperature was extremely hot
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location is simply unique, I've never seen anything like it. The hot springs are wonderful and definitely not to be missed.
Cons: I wish I could give it full marks but I cannot. The rooms could use a little updating, but nothing major. You can tell that the grounds of the hotel suffered severe damage due to flooding. The waiter at the a la carte restaurant wasn't that polite and we weren't really impressed by the food nor the service. Also, the price for food and drinks is quite expensive compared to Jordan and most of Southern, Eastern and even some Western European countries.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful staff!
Cons: We enjoyed very much the location, facilities, thermal baths (amazing), the kindness of all staff. We thought treatments at the spa were exceptional. There is great potential, we think this could become an incredible destination Spa, however the Spa facilities need to be updated.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Rooms are a fair size, clean and comfortable. Toiletries provided were great. Having the pool with the hot spring water flowing in added to the atmosphere. Clean fresh towels were always available when at the pool. The staff were very polite and friendly.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great service, accomodation, relaxing atmosphere. The whole experience was amazing.
5.7 Okay
Pros: The location
Cons: The hotel decided that having a salsa dance party with live music for 200+ people from 7.30pm till 2am was not a conflict with a spa package which specified no mobiles. I went downstairs to complain the place was in uproar . To shut us up we were moved to level 8 a fabulous room but still no way to sleep. The facilities are not up to standard esp with what they charge

Pros: Location is fabulous. This is magic place to chill out for 3-5 days. Hotel fascilities are nice. Staff friendly and arrangements made proffessional and with care to the customer.
Cons: I would consider hotel being a bit overpriced.
6.3 Good
Pros: It is a unique location. It is an eco-orieted project. Nicely designed and furnished. Friendly and cosy. Springs and spa are good. A lot of touristic itineraries (Dead Sea, Holy Land, PETRA!).
Cons: Food could be more varied and gourmet (compare to oriental Six Senses resourts!). Pools could be cleaner, steps need reparing, steam bath cabin needs renovation.
6.0 Good
Pros: Six Senses Spa
Cons: Service level
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Evason Ma'in is an amazing place. We stayed there twice, once with a group of friends and once as a couple. Try the local wine and cheeses, and do ask the staff to plan a meal for you, they are very able. This is a place to go to relax, to pamper yourself and to experience the dead sea region with more personality, peace and individuality than the seashore resorts can offer. You won't be bored either, there are a host of activities to choose from and ideas of what to see. The hotel also arranges free excursions to the dead sea and some other locations. Countless options and a can-do attitude allow you to tailor your stay to be all you want. Recommended with all our hearts!
Cons: The restaurant options could have been explained more clearly in the information booklet in the room. However, the staff was very helpful when we asked for clarification.

Pros: Ок! That's good!
Cons:
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent services. Beautiful place. Friendly stuff.
Cons:
6.7 Good
Pros: Very nice location and inside architectural design. Hot springs. Nice bar and good restaurant. Nice staff although with sometimes understanding issues or not very long professional experience (just some details, but for the ones an hotel with long tradition and experienced staff makes the difference).
Cons: Spa was closed but it was possible to have treatments in dedicated suites. One restaurant (Arabic senses) and one bar were under renovation whereas th Hotel seems recent. Internet was out of order during all the stay (3 days). Change rates were abnormally high; in comparison any bank or change Office seems to be a saint.
7.7 Good
Pros: The location
Cons:

Pros: Very helpful host, who help us with different questions and practical arrangement. The room was clean. When arriving in the night they gave us some food despite the time of day. Very good value for the money.
Cons: The bathroom was a bit warn out. The water tap was not properly fixed to the sink. Anyhow it worked ok.
7.1 Good
Pros: The host was super nice, took excellent care of us
Cons: Rooms were ok, windows not so sterile
7.9 Good
Pros: Room was ok. There is the possibility to warm it up. Bed was okey. Shower was warm. We had a good and simple dinner there. Here you can drink beer and arak, and have a nargile. It's near to the main attraction of madaba.
Cons: It rained insieme the bathroom and unfortnately windows dont close perfectly.
1.0 Poor
Cons: Hi there, I am travelling for over 20 years and it has been actually a first place where we had to refuse a room and move out to another hotel. Basically room and toilet has been completely filthy and manager even did not bother to change bed sheets. Not worth to enjoy "local wildlife" during the night...
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The highlight of this place is Abu Sameer, the friendly, caring owner. He is so sweet and interested in his guests. He actually sent his son all the way to Wadi Rum to pick us up instead of just sending a taxi, and Abu Sameer himself drove us to Mt Nebo, Bethany, and the airport to make sure we would have a good time and see the things we wanted to see. All these trips were at very fair prices, I might add, and did away with the nuisance of having to haggle with taxi drivers. The hotel itself is in the perfect spot, literally a few doors away from the famous Mosaic Map in St George's church, as well as a few minutes' walk from the other historic sites in town. The room was cosy and a good size, and breakfast was very nice.
Cons: Our bathroom tap dripped/leaked quite loudly all night, even when we put a towel in the sink to try to muffle it.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It is in the heart of Madaba. The owner is really nice and he helps however he can. The room is big with heating and air conditioner. Nice Connor arra where you can eat or drink. Hot water all day and night long.
Cons: The toilet was old, but anyway it was working properly. Just ask if you need something (they forgot the toilet paper)
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Awesome price/quality rate. Comfort ambience. Nice food and drinks menu. Friendly personal. Extremely educated guide, who is the owner of this hotel. The hotel is located in a few steps to all the important sites of Madaba. Специально для русских - владелец отеля сертифицированный русскоговорящий гид, отлично знающий историю и культуру Иордании. Отель отличный, чисто, бюджетно, хорошая еда, есть алкоголь.

Pros: Excellent value for money. The hotel is in a great location to explore the various sights of Madaba with plenty of restaurants nearby. The hotel has its own parking and I recommend using this hotel as a basis to explore. Jerash, Mount Nebo, Amman and the Dead Sea are all reachable within an hour by car. We enjoyed the breakfast and my husband used the gym every day. The bar of the hotel is great too.
Cons: Could use better quality juice at breakfast.

Pros: The breakfast was the best we has in Jordan. The location was very central and private parking was available from the hotel. The staff were very nice and polite. The view from the top was worth spending time at the restaurant!
Cons: I like the politeness of the staff and the fact that due to bad weather conditions we had to stay in and the hotel had very nice atmosphere to spend time at the restaurant facility.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location in Madaba, with very friendly staff. The rooftop bar is great, they serve good food at reasonable prices.

Pros: Comfy beds and huge bathroom with all required facilities Good selection for breakfast The place is 1km from the center. Super safe road with poor lighting. If u are not a walking addict, think twice
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great locaion. There was a lot of shops and restaurants nearby. Personel was helpful.
Cons: Breakfast was good, but worse than in the photo.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is my third stay at this hotel during the years and to be honest it is one of the best hotels i ever stayed in. The rooms is spacious and clean and the staff is just amazing.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Reception staff was courteous & helpful. The attractions were at a walking distance. Variety of restaurants are near the hotel.
Cons: The TV in next room was on and I could hear it clearly, interfering with my sleep. Similarly people talking in the other room could also be clearly heard. Every time someone flushed the toilet I could hear it. The air conditioning unit is also too noisy even when the fan speed was kept at the lowest. Bed was not comfortable as I had a stiff back after sleeping for the night. It would also give creaking sound on sitting and getting out of bed. Breakfast was a disappointment. I have had better in a 3 star hotel in Amman. When asked for an omellete I was told that it can't be provided. On second morning when I asked for milk (for tea), they said no milk is available. I asked why? The waiter said we asked the management to give us milk as it had finished the day before, but they have not supplied it to us. This is pathetic. A 4 star hotel not having milk is absolutely ridiculous. If this is the case their rating should be decreased.
7.0 Good
Pros: Good position and really helpful staff
Cons: Public areas and bathroom may need a bit of refurbishing, but anyway are clean
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good hotel in Madaba not so far away from the city center. Very friendly staff. Good food and good breakfast. We appreciated to have a private parking, to have a big room, with to very confortable beds as well as a balcony.
Cons: The notion of cleanliness in the bathroom is relative as the limestone had not been removed. The shower and the shower walls were limestone white (covered with limestone).
8.0 Excellent
Pros: close to the city's archaeological and cultural sites. Everything is within walking distance, quiet location.Monitored parking lot nearby.
Cons: small choice for breakfast table.

5.0 Okay
Pros: Very old hotel. The rooms are clean.
Cons: No hot water in the evening. Bad smell of food spreads all around. In general would not stay there again, but, there are not much better hotels in Madaba, anyway.. In general I would not stay here, rather in Dead Sea area.
9.0 Excellent
Cons: I had the impression that some of the staff is not well paid. The better jobs had the Jordanians in the hotel and the lower jobs (cleaning, waitressing) were done by foreigners from poorer countries.
7.5 Good
Pros: - Breakfast is very good, there are a lot of choice for you. And the view is on 5 floor that is really good can see the panoramic of the Madaba city.
Cons: - Room is not clean just ok for stay.
6.0 Good
Pros: The view on the swimming pool.
Cons: The bedroom next to the lift does not allow you to sleep : the lift worked at least up to 01:00 and then you hear the Muezzin's call at 05:20. So, if you sleep less than 5 hours a night, it is OK but if not, turn down this room. It is better not to be large to enter the shower/bath. I don't understand this bedroom is not the laundery ! Then if you think you would have a diner there, book at least a couple of hours. The waiter or waitress (service) is so absent that at the end, we left and went outside!
6.0 Good
Pros: The hotel for such price is quite good. The location also good (600 m to the centre). There are some shops and cafe next to hotel. U can use the pool if it is hot outside. The panorama view from the roof restaurant. The staff is fine, but not so sincere comparing to other hotels in Jordan. There is air conditioner, so u can cool or warm your room.
Cons: We didn't like our room - it wasn't cozy and it was a little bit uncomfortable (there was dye marks on the wall, one lamp was broken, there was just simple soap in the bathroom). The towels were washed, but there were stains and some of it were more grey than white. Also almost all of it were very rough.. There was not pleasant smell, but maybe because of fragrance, which we didn't like. The walls are not soundproof... We didn't like the breakfast, event there was the choice. The windows in restaurant not clean. The room was cold when we arrived late in the evening.
7.9 Good
Pros: Nice and well equiped hotel close to amman airport
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Convenient location, Kind staff, good value,.
Cons: Need to improve the hot water system. It took more than 10 minutes to get warm water ended up giving up to get shower with hot water.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The room was very clean.
Cons: Hot shower was not stable. Sometime was too hot and some time was too cold.

7.0 Good
Pros: The arrival drink was exceptional - in both taste and how it was served (wait to you see how!).
Ridiculous!

2.0 Mediocre

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Heated infinity pool with wonderful view on the Dead Sea. Nice small beach on the Dead Sea with all comfort.

7.0 Good
Pros: We'll appointed facility as expected from the Marriott Good access to the dead sea Lovely pools and outlook Reasonable breakfast
Cons: Unusual policy of no outside food allowed into the resort. Scanned on entry (not super thoroughly). But what is the reason for this policy? To make even more money on mini bar snacks? Stick to the room rate guys. People will dine in your restaurant if the foods good.

7.9 Good
Pros: The pools and the beach and the fantastic views of the Dead Sea.
