Beautiful atmosphere in old part of Beijing in restored traditional house. Staff extremely helpful, organising train tickets, taxis etc. and advice on area. Good breakfast buffet provided Not really a "don't like", but, being located in the alleyways of the old town, it is difficult to find and taxi drivers are not aware of it. Worth the trouble, though, once you get there! The owner (or manager) has two dogs which appear to have the run of the premises, including, sometimes, the restaurant. Not so good, particulalry if you don't like dogs.
Very helpful staff When we arrived we were told we would have to stay at another hotel for the night as the guest in our room could not move until the following day as they had a bad leg and were elderly. This wasn't a real problem and the hotel paid for our transport from the airport and gave us a free dinner. When we did get our room in Courtyard 7 we spoke to some fellow guests who were told the very same thing and also had to stay elsewhere the same night as us. This made me wonder if they were telling the truth or had just double booked us. Having said that, everything else was fantastic.
the room is clean and quiet. above of all, the staffs were awesome!
I loved the space and the environment at the Courtyard 7. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The location in the Hutong area is very close to alternative shops, cafes and bars. When at the hotel we bought tickets to the Beijing Opera. Sincerely I consider to pricey for the value, since it was a touristy, short imitation of the real one.
The staff at Courtyard 7 were some of the most helpful that I have come across. They arranged day trips and onward travel arrangements, and went out of their way to make sure we had a delicious evening meal on our late arrival. This was an oasis in the middle of busy Beijing; a peaceful courtyard where you would find it hard to believe that the bustle of Beijing daily life is going on just outside the door. It was a little hard to find, and the hotel had to talk the taxi driver in.
Beautiful place, feel like at home, nice staff, convenient location. Have to walk a little bit from the taxi since that Hutong is very narrow. Hope that 15% service fee will be added inton room rate directly instead of find it when checking out.
Traditionally styled Courtyard Hotel - very interesting Free internet access from 3 terminals in bar/reception Satellite TV in bar with international channels/sport Hotel is situated in traditional "Hutong" - basically an allley with houses off it which share the public toilets sitauted in the alley. Renovation/building work whilst we were there mean't access was difficult for taxi's etc. Rats seen running in alley - and in courtyard of hotel!
The kindness of the staff and the marvelous design of the rooms The little difficultty of the location but it's right in the hutongs!!!! wow!
the hotel staff was very very nice and helpful. They went out of their way to help and make arrangements etc. over all the hotel was on the worn/old side and very smokey. we requested 2 non smoking rooms and one was not, consequently we changed hotels.
The authenticity and cleaneliness of the rooms in combination with the über friendliness of the staff made this trip so much more! My room was a little small, especially compared to the room my friend had... although we paid the same amount...
The staff were very nice and friendly! Excellent value for money and a nice buffet breakfast included. The hotel is located in a hutong, which may look a bit dark and unfriendly at night, but we found it very safe and with frequent police patrols around the street. The metro station is about 10 mint walking and from here is very easy to move around Beijing. Internet available to guests for free. The bathroom layout, since it would get all flooded after taking a shower
It was a wonderful 5 nights we spent here. Location was a bit surprising but once you went thru the doors and into the courtyards and your room. It was wonderful. Very clean, everyone was very helpful. I'd highly recommend.
Great hotel, excellent staff very helpful and pleasant, very good location
I stayed 2 times at this beautiful hotel already (each time several days) and I will return to it when I'm back in Beijing. The rooms are lovely decorated with traditional Chinese furniture and the staff is just absolutely great : always smiling and ready to help with any questions you have! They really give a warm personal touch to this place, something you will never find in any big hotel... --
The hotel staff were great hosts! They were almost like family to us! And we really really enjoyed their company. The rooms were delightful, with traditional chinese furniture, which definitely enriched our experience in Beijing alot! There were a few problems with heating (ie. The air conditioner wasnt working properly), toilet facilities. However, the problems were quickly rectified and our stay was generally pleasant!
Once you get pass the hutong area (not resort or hotel type neighborhood), the hotel itself is authentic to the Chinese culture. Customer service is beyond excellent! The room and amenities were perfect! The location is central to the subway & everything else! Totally enjoyed the Double Happiness Hotel! The onsite restaurant menu needs to be worked on. The food was not good and the service was slow.
It is a real chineese style hotel, we loved it! The staff was very friendly and helps by everthing (booking tours, taxis, booking a roasty duck in a resturant)! If we come back again to beijing, we would also stay in this hotel! We stayed in the wedding suite! The room was big and wonderful but the bed is a little bit small (so be careful if you are very tall .... for us (170 cm) it was suitable )!
Very friendly and helpful personell (thank you Didi and your colleagues). Typical hotel (ancient Chinese Villa) in a hutong. I hope I shall return one day!
Place is very private and quiet. Staff is helpful and friendly. It is near Wangfujing Street where small "tuk-tuk-like" cars are readily available to bring us back to hotel. Most taxi drivers are not familiar with this location - Lushi Hutong, so will sometimes refuse to take us. The Family Room supposedly for 4 people is rather small - much better to book 2 twin rooms.
Helpful, friendly, clean, value for money. Organised a good tour for us.
nothing The hotel changed the price and room types without notice to customers.Bad service and terrible management.
The staff were extremely nice and helpful. The hotel is actually a remodeled traditional Chinese house, but done really nicely. Its location is excellent! Right in the most convenient area. We stayed for 6 days and before we left, we already saw it as our home in Beijing. That's how much all the staff make you feel at home. It will be our only choice from now on when we visit the city again.
Hotel Staff was wonderful with fluent English and very quick response. Atmosphere and Location was one of the best in Beijing. You will regret if you do not know this hotel. I strongly recommend this hotel to stay. Locking the door is a little difficult to me.
it was in a great location and was a very authentic historical hutong hotel. The rooms were modern and clean. The staff was very kind and helpful.
The service was excellent, the place is beautiful.
The gardens of Garden Hotel were a nice surprise! Rooms are really beautiful. It is an oasis in the heart of the busy city. I could have rated at least 3 stars. I will reccoment it without hesitation. Taxi drivers find difficulties to take you there.
The ywca Garden hotel is a gem. It is a beautifully renovated traditional Chinese courtyard dwellingl occupying a central a location literally a stone's throw from the north end of the pedestrianised section of Wangfujing. The staff are remakably friendly and helpful. The personalized service one gets is a world away from that found in standardized international hotels. The hotel will be quieter once the construction of the adjacent Lotte department store is completed (very soon I expeect)
The location was perfect for sightseeing and shopping. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel was just as explained on the web site. We particulary liked the design and the fact that it was traditional style . It was very cold while we were there but our room was warm and welcoming, for a 2 star hotel we had all facillities including robes and slippers and bottled water replaced every day. The only complaint was the breakfast we took in another hotel on one of the mornings, after the resumed in the garden hotel and were very exceptable
Very friendly and helpful staff, peacful and homely atmosphere, interesting to stay in a Beijing "courtyard house" Only 1 type of rooms with twin beds, larger and nicer rooms only had double beds. Taxis had difficulties finding the hotel but this was resolved by phoning the hotel and ask them to direct the taxi drivers.
Very pretty places and beautiful rooms. Friendly and helpful staff.
Staff lovely, room was comfortable, really interesting location, deluxe room was nice
yes, special setting
Very traditional. Dificult to find, but once you know where it is, its ok.
Historic architecture, location in a hutong, provided or arranged for a car/cab to get to and from the airport, nicely appointed room, internet connection easy to use, very nice staff; quiet and peaceful; tons more character than a chain hotel; handled an unexpected very late arrival with ease Not sure if there was an air conditioner; if not, would need at least a good fan for hot, humid weather
Loved the local culture and the excellent service. This hotel is very small and goes above and beyond to exceed expectations for everyone staying in this charming little hotel...extremely personal service. Taxis are hard to find that knows how to get to this location even with the printed card they provide for you......You will try a minimum of 3 each time before you get one that can get you home........Small price to pay for such a great experience at the hotel.
quiet surrounding helpful staff
The hotel was quite pleasant and the staff were very helpful. We found the executive room to be nicely appointed. The breakfast buffet included both Chinese and European selections. We used a hotel driver and car for our trip to the Great Wall. While a little more expensive than tour groups, it provided us with a relaxing trip to the wall. The driver directed us to a great restaurant just before getting MuTianYu that was much cheaper than the tourist spots and severed excellent food.
Very pleasant and fothcomming staff, charming interior and good location. Nearly everything was perferct. However, if you come late for breakfast, the selection of food might be a little limited.
An authentic Chinese style building in a real Hutong. The breakfast was adequate but could be improved.
The staff were very friendly and tried hard to be helpful. Good broadband service free. Also bicycles free. I spent tow nights in a very poor quality room. Then one night in a good room. THe difference was very great.
