Top tips for finding the perfect Belfast hostel
- When picking a hostel in Belfast, travelers will find themselves in luck: most of the city’s hostels are located very centrally, specifically around Queen’s University. This neighborhood is full of quirky, inexpensive student haunts and is just a 15 min walk from the city center. While staying here, guests can visit the Botanic Gardens and Ulster Museum, which are both in the Queen’s University neighborhood, or they can take trips to other attractions like the Titanic (about 20 min by public transport).
- A good hostel in Belfast for groups is the Belfast International Youth Hostel, which offers inexpensive and relatively basic accommodations close to the city center. Rooms vary in size from private twin set-ups to 23-bed dormitories, and large groups can also take advantage of the community lounge and fully loaded kitchen. With an on-site café, lockers, and laundry services, this is one of the best places in Belfast for groups to stay on a budget.
- Couples looking for a hostel in Belfast may enjoy staying at Vagabonds Belfast, which has a number of twin and double rooms featuring quirky design features and shared bathrooms. Rated a "5-star hostel," the property also offers a daily breakfast and the opportunity to book local trips and activities. Another property boasting private rooms is the Belfast City Backpacker Hostel; here, two-person rooms even come with a private bathroom.
- Female travelers looking for a girls-only room in Belfast are in luck: several of the properties here offer female dorms. For a smaller room (with around six beds), properties like Vagabonds Belfast and Paddy’s Palace Belfast Hostel are safe bets, while the Belfast International Youth Hostel has larger female-only dorms of 23 beds. All these properties are located in Queens Quarter, near the university, which is generally considered to be a safe neighborhood and well connected to the rest of the city by public transportation or taxi.
