10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing dinner, golf buggy experience, plus the incredible animals
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was Brilliant! Loved the whole place really classy and well run with lovely staff. Great place for a special occasion, its not cheap but you pay for what you get its a cut above the rest, if you love animals you will love this!
Cons: Weather could have been better but cant do much about that! Maybe more signage would be good?
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Having joined in the safari we had an excellent guide who explained what PL was all about - after - we wanted to find out more. The set up is genius. We loved the golf buggies to scoot about. We loved the hotel and the food was excellent, gardens and grounds beautiful and the whole ethos incredibly inspiring. We were slightly sceptical it would be so enjoyable - but we were blown away. Our hotel room in the main house was quite dated but it added to the charm. It was v clean and comfortable. Thank you Port Lympe!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing decor and atmosphere. Loved the floor tiles and art work
Cons: Coffee Luke warm at breakfast, COD skin soggy at dinner
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Stayed here with my 10yo son for one night only and he absolutely loved it The animal park provides a great safari to see a fantastic collection of animals in the wild but it's even better when the park closes and you have the chance to see the them in the relative peace and quiet after 6.30pm We had dinner at the pizzeria which was excellent but an added bonus was being next to the big cats and seeing/hearing the lions roar as the sun came down The hotel itself is very grand and the room was fantastic It is great value for money and I would recommend this to anyone
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is stunning and the views are amazing. Bedroom was very relaxing and comfy night sleep. Breakfast was lovely, lots to chose from and we were very well looked after. Baby dolls restaurant was lovely and really enjoyed being able to wonder round the park and go round on safari truck.
Cons: Weren't made aware the restaurant we booked for dinner was in the middle of the park and were told we could walk but path is pitch black, cold and wet as it's winter. Would be fine in the summer, eventually we were told we could get a minibus down as we were about to start walking! As our room was above the entrance to the hotel we could hear heavy equipment being moved in to the hotel quite early in the morning. When going around the wildlife park in the golf buggy it wasn't incredibly clear where the path was and where we could and couldn't go, much easier to walk round.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and grand was beautiful
Cons: Nothing

The dining area is available to access to make drinks at will - pots of tea (every flavour), coffee machines, hot chocolate, plus cold drinks and snacks. All this is in addition to the facilities in the rooms. Forgotten something? Pros: Everything Ok.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean room and comfortable bed. Nice reception and help with my suitcase being carried up the stairs. Easy parking. Quiet room enabled a good night's sleep.
Cons: The shower. The water pressure was a little low.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: nothing
Cons: Room very strange, on suite bathroom you opened the door and there where three steps down into bathroom, taking you down into it. Not very safe in the middle of the night. On booking in went to room where could hear children in the room above running back and forth. This continued until we went out 3 hours later. On our return at 9.45pm we thought this would have stopped, but no the children were still at it. This wasn’t acceptable so went to reception, no one was there so had to ring the bell for attention. rang the bell three times, no one came. So had to attend to room in question from where the noise came from to resolve the problem. very unhappy with room and service will not be returning
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Quiet room, comfortable beds, modern bathroom, good breakfast
Cons: Nothing
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent room, very comfy bed, friendly, laid back staff. Breakfast was nice. Just an all round nice place.
Cons: Think the info on the sunlight retreat is misleading as it wasn't available during our stay (as the Apartment was booked) and that was one of the reasons we booked this hotel. Maybe just add "subject to availability" to the hotel information. It was the only thing I was disappointed about.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The tropical sandpit for kids and friendly staff
Lympne Castle Cottages - Hythe - Outdoor view
7
8.8 Excellent (88 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Set in the beautiful Kent countryside, Lympne Castle offers charming cottages, close to Folkestone. There is good access to the M20 motorway. On the edge of the grounds of stunning Lympne Castle, these cottages offer modern accommodation, for up to 6 people. Lympne Castle Cottages have stylish living areas with a TV and DVD player, while the fully equipped kitchens also include a dishwasher and laundry facilities. Canterbury is 30 minutes' drive from the cottages, and The Channel Tunnel is 8 km away. The local pub is a short walk away and serves food all day.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Very sizable bedrooms
Cons: Very poor directional signage. Unlit entrance/street; couldn't read name of cottage and difficulty unlocking. TV and free-view impossible to get working. Cheap 'Lichfield' sugars; bathroom soaps etc., (from Booker cash & carry) deflect potential character.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Brilliant cottages in beautiful setting within the castle grounds. These were perfect as a base for the wedding party and guests attending our wedding at the castle itself. Good sized spacious rooms, lovely refurbished bathrooms and each cottage with lovely views.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The places are full of character and comfortable
7.5 Good
Pros: It was close to the castle where we had our wedding
Cons: It was fine. We had everything we needed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Ideal place to stay as part of the wedding party at Lympne Castle
Cons: Nothing to dislike
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the space, nice bathrooms, comfy beds, private garden area, wonderful views, good facilities.
Cons: The only thing I felt is that the general decor could have been more homely, it is quite sparse which does show off the original features etc but it could definitely benefit from a touch of interior design! This doesn't detract from the amount of space and level of comfort the property already provides.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful place. Our room was bigger than our appartment and was very clean. Delicious cooked breakfast.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The cottages form part of a 12th century fortified farm - effectively a castle. It's steeped in history, has terrific views over Romney Marshes and Dungeness point. The cottages have been refurbished to a very high standard. My father in law has been inspired to write a book after staying for the weekend! I couldn't fault any part of the package offered. The staff are also excellent.
Cons: There is a pub a short walk away - the County Members - this is fine but fairly basic.
The Red Lion - Hythe - Building
8
8.6 Excellent (837 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Hythe, The Red Lion is within a 15-minute drive of Port Lympne Wild Animal Park and Gardens and Eurotunnel Folkestone Terminal. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were extremely helpful, friendly and polite.
Cons: Outside of hotel looks a bit tatty.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was great, the food was amazing, the staff were very freindly
7.0 Good
Pros: friendly staff , clean comfy room , price and location
Cons: food a bit overpriced and not very appetising , breakfast not to bad
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Really friendly staff, good accommodation. Rooms are fairly basic but nicely decorated with plenty of towels and tea and coffee facilities
7.0 Good
Pros: Staff were helpful and friendly; the rooms were very clean and had the basics of ensuite facilities and tea/coffee facilities. The location was great as there was parking behind the Red Lion for free and you can walk into town nearby. The pub downstairs had good food at a reasonable price. The only thing was our wall was paper thin and I could hear the child next door and their TV. The flushing of their toilet system at night woke me up and I wondered what it was! the building is very old and historic so I understand it is not the fault of Management that this noisy intruded on my sleep.
Cons: Sounds/talking could be heard through some the walls. The toilets flushing sounded like foghorns for some reason.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were so friendly and helpful. We would not hesitate to stay there again
Cons: Nothing
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was spacious and clean with excellent en-suite facilities. The breakfast was very good and the staff friendly and helpful. We are able to park our car off road and there is a bus stop just across the road for Dover and Folkestone.
Cons: The only problem was lack of Internet but there was a good sized television in the room.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Second visit to the Property. Always friendly. Left to your own devices which suits us well. Double room with a lovely bathroom. Will stay again when in the area.
Cons: The only thing I would say is the tv in the double room could possibly be larger. May be over the fire place but otherwise nothing to fault.
6.0 Good
Pros: There was no breakfast aso stated on booking.com. room was large but drafty due to the chimney and wind. So the heating was put on which made you sweat during the night. There was hairs in the bathroom i had to wash off myself
Cons: Better if breakfast was included as displayed on website. No sea view as shown on booking.com. bed was quite small considering I'm 5 got 8 and I touched both ends with no room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, clean room
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Quaint room, lovely staff, smooth check-in and out! Felt cozy!
Cons: There was a very strong smell of cigarette smoke throughout our stay from another room; bed was firm, but not uncomfortable.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: No breakfast as such - which is what made the advance online info confusing - but provision of a complementary snack and fruit selection, the availability of a fridge in our room, and generous tea & coffee supplies, meant that we had a relatively healthy breakfast in the room before checking out on the Sunday morning.
Cons: Nothing disliked, but found the blue bathroom light a bit odd, and a blind or curtain at the bathroom window would have provided a little extra warmth/privacy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything..could not fault anything...
The Castle Hotel - Hythe - Bedroom
10
7.6 Good (483 reviews)
Overview Reviews
When you stay at The Castle Hotel in Hythe, you'll be by the sea, within a 15-minute drive of Port Lympne Wild Animal Park and Gardens and Eurotunnel Folkestone Terminal. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. A train station pick-up service is provided at no charge, and free self parking is available onsite.
4.2 Okay
Pros: Nice breakfast.
Cons: Pub license on a Sunday night was until 1am so the family room directly above the bar was incredibly noisy. Bed wasn't made up, no clean towels given or tea/coffee replaced in room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was perfect for our needs, breakfast was delicious and cooked fresh to order. We stayed here for 1 night after our wedding and the hotel and rooms were very clean. Also thankyou very much for the bottle of prosecco that was kindly waiting for us in the room. A lovely surprise
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Really helpful and friendly owners, who couldn't do enough to help and gave us good recommendations of things to do in the local area. Had both breakfast and dinner in the pub, the food was of very good quality and there was a good choice at dinner. Room was of a good size and clean, with comfy bed.
Cons: It is clear that The Castle is undergoing renovation at the moment, however this is well underway and it in no way will disturb your stay. It will be great to return when everything is complete, as the owners have already made a great start.
7.0 Good
Pros: Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. Food was plentiful and delicious.
Cons: In the middle of renovations at the moment but can see the future already.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The husband and wife that have just taken over the property went above and beyond to make sure all their guests were happy. They are working hard to renovate the property as well as trying to make staying there the best experience possible. As I mentioned, they are renovating which means that they are currently not doing any pub meals throughout the day but the owner still went out of her way to cook us a lovely breakfast every morning and there was lots on offer! They owners were there when we needed advice or needed to book a cab to the centre but also offered directions on how to walk there. They took interest in what we were doing on our stay and were very friendly. Both me and my partner were very comfortable staying at the Castle Hotel and there were lots of drinks/snacks on offer behind the bar as well as sky sports to watch the latest football/rugby games. Our room had a nice telly which had freeview and a hairdryer was provided in the room which was a nice surprise. I would imagine it won't be long until the kitchen is up and running! Overall it was a nice place to put our head down as we were attending a wedding close by.
Cons: The only downfall was that there were no daytime meals but we were made aware of all the nice places to eat by the owners which were a 5 minute drive by car. We were also given lots of notice of the change of ownership and that there was no hot food available around a month before we were due to stay, which I think was a very honest thing to tell guests.
5.0 Okay
Pros: a little long winded and no cereal or milk only one mug of tea ? understand the place is under going a rebuild of sorts so not sorted staffing and kitchen may well come good
7.0 Good
Pros: Bed very comfortable
Cons: Currently being renovated so not impressive when you first walk through door
Grand Burstin Hotel Folkestone - Folkestone - Building
11
6.5 Good (10,663 reviews)
Overview Reviews
When you stay at Grand Burstin Hotel Folkestone in Folkestone, you'll be near the beach, within a 15-minute drive of Dover Western Docks Cruise Terminal and Dover Museum. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, luggage storage, and a safe deposit box at the front desk. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
7.0 Good
Pros: Twin room was spacious and spotlessly clean. Well furnished. Good bath. Quiet wing. Plenty of parking space. Crisp white linen and towels.
Cons: Tap water too hot, be careful you dont get burnt. View over the back of the property needs tidying up. Single mattress a bit basic.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Complete confusion over booking Took ages to book in even though there were no queues this time
5.0 Okay
Pros: The bed was very soft and I liked the dressing room
Cons: The pillow was to thin and not enough plugs
4.0 Okay
Pros: The staff were very welcoming
Cons: Upon arrival was the empty beer and drink glasses everywhere, going up to our room the very, very strong smell of weed and the punch mark in our bedroom door. The loud music til 1am and then the drunk neighbour who was so drunk he fell onto our door, his daughter then decided to scream at the top of her voice when he told her he was putting her to bed and going for another drink and then he went to the toilet for an hour leaving her with the TV on so loud I could hear it through the walls. The beds and linen were clean but the carpet didn't seem like it had been hoovered and the bathroom was not clean as there was tissue and hair clips on the floor. We had been travelling all day so I didn't have the strength to complain or move rooms. To be honest, I didn't think when booking that I would be in a Hilton or anything, especially at such a low price but it was really not the family last night of the holiday stay I had planned (and embarrassingly had booked for another family too), we were up and gone by 8am, didn't even want to stay for breakfast. Could be such a lovely hotel. Fine if you are travelling alone and want to get completely hammered before you go to bed.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Run down hotel, poorly maintined
Cons: Nothing, I will never return!
4.0 Okay
Pros: Staff always polite and location brilliant.
Cons: The Grand Burstin is what you would expect for the amount you pay. Its dated drab and rather dreary. it's about time the entertainment was changed as it's dreadful! The guys that perform bless them have been doing the same act and songs for as many years as we can remember. Thankfully local bars change there acts so you can venture out else one would go totally mad
1.0 Poor
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Mould on carpets, paint peeling off , damp
1.0 Poor
Pros: Disgusting
Cons: Dirty rooms dirty bedding shower didn’t work water kept going cold appalling conditions
5.0 Okay
Pros: The view was amazing
Cons: The bed springs

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location, price, parking, friendly staff
Cons: Noisy toilet
1.0 Poor
Pros: Getting out alive!
Cons: Family room - Gap in window so wind blowing curtains constantly all night. Cups stuck to dirty tea tray so could not bring ourselves to use. Cabinets and cupboards filthy. Beds only had 1 blanket on this was not enough due to draught from window we all had to sleep with jumpers and socks on! Mattreses all with mark's on. No central heating, small heater in room not enough due to draught, no test sticker on heater. Bathroom had black mould everywhere, bath was dirty, walls stained and holes in. Light switches with stickers on stating do not use. Also booked single room for teenage son but he could not stay in it as it stank of cigarette smoke and was also filthy. No direction from staff member where the rooms were, had to wander around dark damp smelling corridors to find the rooms. Really wanted to leave straight away but it was late when we arrived here from the channel tunnel, we had booked 2 nights but we left after one due to state of rooms didnt stay for breakfast due to room hygiene being so bad didnt trust the areas you couldnt see! (eg Kitchen!). Shame as the hotel is right on the front but the view is spoilt by the poor hygiene and dirty windows!!
7.0 Good
Pros: Well suited as a stop for an early boat from Dover, as long as you do not have unrealistic expectations. e.g. you cannot expect a 5 star lobby if it is not advertised as such. Interior is indeed a bit outdated/seventies, but everything is clean and works and the bed is good,, so I rated it as a very good value for money. Friendly staff, a parking space and some nearby pubs and restaurants.
Cons: we arrived quite late on a winter evening, so we could not enjoy the see view very well.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The staff friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good
Cons: Very dated accommodation old furnishings in need of a total refit
5.0 Okay
Cons: Low WiFi in room
3.0 Mediocre
Cons: Room was dirty I had blankets no quilt bathroom was dirty
5.0 Okay
Pros: Good do with a good makeover, but for the money excellent value.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great value. Clean and friendly staff again
Cons: Nothing.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Beds ok and views. Location
Cons: Not possible to take a shower, could pee faster. No water pressure. Room 40. Windows rattle all night long in windy weather and absolutely no parking.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great staff, amazing value, really lovely room, great views!
7.0 Good
Pros: The hotel is located close to the Leas Hall, just a 5 minute stroll to the town centre. It is very basic in modern terms as a hotel, as it provides outdated internal decor, this would probably satisfy the average punter but for those wishing to stay for special occasions it doesn't offer the necessary influence.
Cons: The room was average in size and the en suite very cramped, the TV reception was impossible to get, as the signal kept being lost throughout. Even though external noise levels where highlighted as to be expected, no option to cancel out such disturbance has been addressed by the proprietor, such as ear plugs & night masks for blue light pollution entering through the curtains.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: From the time we arrived to the time we left had a very pleasant time attentive, friendly, polite staff could not do enough for you. Clean and spacious room with nice city view overlooking a church. The breakfast was lovely a selection of cerials, yoghurt and fruit. Full English to your choosing. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Easy check in and out.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location, the friendly staff, clean room.
Cons: Why do some hotels have little glass barriers on the side of the bath. They don't stop water getting on the bathroom floor, resulting in me needing to dry the floor every time I use it. First world problem, but that's my only little gripe.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything every beautiful place
Cons: Bath too small
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast is fabulous! Room was nice & big. Bed was deliciously comfy with good pillows!
Cons: No hot water on day 2 but staff did their very best. Gave us another room to shower in. Not their fault the boiler had broken, but good efforts all round!
1.0 Poor
Pros: Not a good welcome. Very dated rooms
8.0 Excellent
Pros: afternoon tea and evening meal
Cons: no complaints. Breakfast was average only.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good breakfast and helpful, cheerful staff.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Friendly efficient staff. Comfy beds. Lovely location
Cons: Overcharged for room service breakfast. I'm a late stage kidney patient on a restricted diet so ordered only things I could eat from a la carte menu - bread and spread with a pot of tea one day and eggs on toast another. When I queried 18.50 Restaurant Breakfast on bill was told it 'couldn't be itemised'. Why have individual prices on the menu then? Watch out if you're on a budget

Pros: Very nice hotel in good location and free parking (first come first get). Super friendly staff at the reception and the restaurant. The rooms are nice and comfortable. The food was very good and yummy. Breakfast was only ok due to variety. Would definitely stay again!
Cons: My waiter in the restaurant had a very obvious cold. I do not think that it was appropriate to serve me food due to danger of contagiousness and hygiene reasons. Definitely space for improvement.

7.0 Good
Pros: friendly staff , clean comfy room , price and location
