Budget and Avis (same company) rented the same car out of the same spot to two different people. I was the one that had to go all the way back to the airport terminal to get it sorted out. They got me a different car, which only had 3/4 tank of gas when I started it. All these problems were resolved by a few friendly customer service personnel, but all of this was avoidable with some conscientious workers and appropriately integrated systems.Reviewed 2 Mar 2026

When I picked up the car I had an unexpected $430.00 mandatory insurance premium charged. I bought insurance though KAYAK and was charged the extra at the airport. Staff did were not very interested in inspecting the car when I picked it but went over it with a fine tooth comb when I dropped it off. They were especially interested in the under carriage as the speed bumps are very high in some places and the under carriage will drag going into their parking lot. Not a very welcoming experience and I felt like they were trying to not to reimburse the 35,000 past deposit that they charged on to of the extra insurance. Never have been treated that way in any country renting a car and I for years I rented weekly.Reviewed 2 Mar 2026

The Kayak website promised that I would get a Compact SUV -- however when I showed up at Budget, the staff said they only saw a reservation for a 'car' and not an 'SUV' and there was no way they could give me an SUV at that rate. They then charged me $35 extra to get an SUV.Reviewed 2 Mar 2026

Althoguh at the time of pick up they told me to bring back the key to the station, when I did that at the drop off time at 7 i nthe morning the staff told me that I have to go back to the parking and drop the key in the keybox. Very poor. I tried to save some money with a cheap rental from budget and ended up regretting it. arrived to the desk for car pickup and encountered a long line of customers with understaffed budget team and vehicles not available. Was told over 2 hour wait time for vehicle. I cancelled online because i could not wait 45+ minutes to get to the front of the line to cancel with the budget employee. I got a rental from hertz immediately, where i have presidents circle status, but i cost roughly an extra $100.. Then budget charged me for their rental and i have initiated a time consuming process to try to recoup my charges from budget.Reviewed 2 Mar 2026

Over 10 minute wait at JFK. Other rental agencies had a minimal wait. Agents giving paper copies instead of digital contracts like major rental companies. Drive away was good. Return at ALB was confusing with GPS taking me to back of their lot. Had to return in the airport terminal vs a dedicated return line.Reviewed 1 Mar 2026
