Pros: Quick check in. Car was cleaned and full tank. Easy to drive.Cons: The office was closed when I dropped off the car. I was instructed to leave keys with front desk and when I did the hotel staff seemed bewildered by this. Also wish there was brief overview on how to drive the car (ie. controls like windshield, high beams, etc).

Great experiencePros: The service we received from Sixt was great - very friendly and efficient. Better yet the automobile they assigned us was excellent - a Skoda. And it had the best GPS system that I have ever seen and used. All in all, the car and service from Sixt really helped make our time in Slovenia to be a great experience.Cons: Nothing.

Poor customer service of "Thomas" fr this officePros: NoneCons: Hidden fees and terrible customer communication skills. Misleading price . Didn't answer any questions on the phone , Gets you to come in the office and present rediculous fees. Persons ahead of line were clueless because their English was not good. I also overheard Thomas saying negative comments in Slovene language about the customers . He hates his job.

Wish we'd been quoted the insurance rates in advancePros: The employees were very helpful; one took us right to our car in the parking lot. The car was in good condition.Cons: We thought we were getting a great deal - only 130 euros for five days! But then getting insurance brought the total cost up to over 350 euros. That's quite a difference! So if your American car insurance offers international coverage (ours doesn't), I'd advise taking that. Or else it would be good if the insurance prices were at least quoted for you before you finalized the booking.

Horrible Horrible HorribleCons: Honestly I am very disappointed in the service I was given. I had made the reservation online, had thought I had everything squared away, and then after flying for 22 hours to get here, I was hoping for a streamline process of signing my papers and getting my car rental so I could then drive the 2 hours to my girlfriend's and be with her after such a long time, and then the agent i worked with saying that i needed additional coverage, and in my sleep deprived, travel weary mind was just wanting to get my car and get out of there. I feel like i was taken advantage of. I emailed you a few days after I got the car and had tried to call multiple times and the agent i spoke with said i had to email to get a response, and no email back to me until I had finished out the week and returned the car. Just so you can say that it is now too late for me to get any kind of refund or restitution for my car situation. I came to this trip on a very strict budget. I am not a business executive, I am not a major philanthropist or stupid American who has way too much money and no way of spending it. I am a young adult who saved up his money to try and visit his girlfriend while she is at school, and surprise her with visiting early and spending time with her. As you can see from my mileage I didn't travel far or for an extravagant amount. I did NO damage to the car, or treat it poorly. I even had a few days where I didn't drive at all. If I was planning to travel to other countries or be traveling a lot I would have added the extra insurance to my policy. The card I used was a credit card, and should be able to have the protection that you would want to have for any kind of situation that may have happened. I would have hoped that as the first actual business I interacted with while here in Slovenia, it would have been a pleasant one, and one that would be courteous to a lone traveler who was covered in sweat, had 3 bags and a carry on, in a brand new environment with hardly any money, trying to visit a loved one. I just can't believe that a car rental service could be as bad as yours has been. And I saw that there were some very negative reviews online for your car rental service and I was going to still give you a chance as you had a car available for my budget and what I needed. But then to throw the extra insurance onto me why I had said no multiple times, and then saying I can't get my car unless I get this extra insurance is just bad business, and not a way to treat any customer when you are in a way representing your country (yes i understand Sixt is not a Slovenian company) and showing that a lot of the reputation many American's are told of how European's treat american's is true. It's rude, insensitive, and not one that makes you feel welcome. I will be posting my reviews on Yelp, and many other sites about my experience, and you will be losing not just my business but the business of many others because of the horrible experience I have ha
Got billed 50 Euros for a small black mark that we can't confirmPros: Nothing much, we returned the car at 10pm and there was no one to help us.Cons: We were billed 50 Euros for a small black mark that would be difficult to spot during pre-inspection. We felt that this was possibly an easy loophole from Hertz to take a couple extra dollars, and previous reviews of Hertz from other renters had similar views. We ended up paying about double of what we expected when we first saw the car rental on Kayak.com
Nature lovers will really enjoy a visit to Ljubljana, Slovenia. With its numerous parks and rivers, you’ll find many opportunities to engage in outdoor activities and explore farm life. On a warm summer day you might even want to take a quick drive to a seaside town in Croatia like Motovun. Without a hire car you can’t do any of this. It will also be more difficult to get to places like Triglav National Park or Soca Valley for some hiking, kayaking, canyoning or white water rafting.
The Ljubljana airport is just a short drive from many cities and towns in Slovenia. It is also less than 100 miles from the countries of Italy and Austria. You’ll find it quite simple to rent a car from this airport. All of the hire car agencies, including Enterprise, Budget, and Alamo, have offices in the parking structure just across the road from the terminal. Simply grab your bags, head over there, and you are ready to go.
In Slovenia, every car is required to have a toll sticker (“vignette”) when it is on the freeway. Be sure that you have this sticker in your car window before leaving the hire car agency; otherwise, you could receive a ticket if you don’t have it. Additionally, by law you must always have on your low beam lights. This includes daytime driving.
Rush hour is minimal in Ljubljana, possibly because the heart of downtown is designated as a “no car” zone. Throughout the city there can be some traffic congestion when there is a snowstorm or construction work going on. The weekends can also see somewhat heavy traffic around the beaches, especially during the summer months when there are many tourists.

Since Ljubljana’s downtown is marked as a “car-free” zone, you’ll have to walk or ride a bike in the heart of the downtown area. Thus, what you can do is park in one of the parking lots or garages on the outskirts of downtown, such as the one on Congress Square or Tivoli Park.
